The night was upon the castle and it seemed every student inside it's stone walls was relaxing peacefully in bed. The only noise that disturbed the large halls was that of footsteps as one student tired to fall asleep.
Rezna Lardale blamed herself for not being able to sleep at one o'clock in the morning. She had been going late to bed for what seemed like weeks now, and her body had gotten used to it. Now, her insomnia was finally taking it's toll on her. She had milled around her room for an hour, trying to read or write although neither worked. Then she sat in the common room for about half an hour, but even the fire did not bring on sleep.
It was both boredom and her wide eyes that pushed her to go braking rules and completing her self-guided tour of the castle. She had finally gotten to a place that she had never seen before, and was happy to go exploring.
"178, 179," she counted outloud as she climbed the stairs of what looked like a tower. Rezna only hoped that she was not heading to a place that she was not supposed to be in, for instance another house's common room. Her luck held out as she finally stepped on the last 204th step and pushed open the door to reveal a large room with a clear sealing. All the stars seemed to spread themselves around her, and a feeling of peace settled over the blonde Hufflepuff.
Happy that she had come, she looked around the empty observatory. She wasn't surprised. Every sensible person was asleep, besides her. Wondering where she could sit and gaze at the stars, a set of double doors caught her green eye. Walking forward, she opened those doors as well and walked out to the balcony of the tower.
"Even better," she said outloud as she looked out at the grounds below. She held on to the railing as she walked the length of the balcony and back, admiring the moonlit grounds below. Somewhere an owl hooted, but otherwise, the quite made her ears vibrate.
Finally taking a seat along the wall, she pulled her knees up to her chin and looked at the sky. It was realizing to just look at at the lights without a thought in her head. Taking deep breaths of the fresh night air, she sat like that, just looking and relaxig for about twenty minutes. Yet after that Rezna's eyes began to close involuntarily. She hoped that she wasn't going to fall asleep there, and in her thoughts she was already getting up and walking down the tower stairs. But fatigue took hold of her too quickly and she felt herself drifting off.

Ondrea again, found herself tossing and turning in the Slytherin girls' dormitory, not getting one bit of shut-eye. She had been laying soundlessly for about two hours, and obviously, she was getting bored. As usualy, she slid her feet off the side of her bed, slipped her black hoodie on, and then flung her back pack over her shoulder. Ondreas' hand felt all over the bed-side table, as she was looking for a hair-tie, but it was too dark to indicate where it was by eye-sight. Eventually her fingers found its' location, and she quickly tied her black hair up in a messy pony-tail. Standing up, she quietly put on her slippers, and headed towards the door, as her black and red checkered PJ buttoms touched the floor, as they were a bit too long for her, but she didn't mind.
Rubbing her sleepy eyes, that had been darkened with circles from several nights of sleep loss, she let out a low yawn, and found herself going outside for a bit of fresh air. Soon enough, after she had done a few laps around the school field, Ondrea decided she would go to the Astronomy tower, one of her favourite places, and perhaps write some poetry; maybe later on she would go and visit her hippogriff, or see where her cat Shadow had gone off to.
Once reaching the stairs of the Astronomy tower, she sighed, taking a breath, she walked up the stairs, that seemed to go on forever, but she knew it was worth it. Up at the top, there was always a beautiful show of stars, and a peaceful surrounding, where she was free to think, and make her decisions, and do what ever she pleased.
Upon reaching the top of the tallest tower, the closest thing to a smile that Ondrea had managed in a while. grew upon her red lips, as she looked at the stars that twinkled in the night sky.
However, something caught her eye, it was a girl, who she hadn't seen before, and she seemed to be either deep in thought, or dozing off, either way Ondrea didn't intend on bothering her, and as usual liked to avoid meeting people, just in case the were there to hurt her.
Sitting down in a corner, she gazed out into the sky, and pulled out a quill and parchment, starting to scribble down a new poem that just came to mind. Eventually her eyes grew heavy like lead, and she let out a long yawn.
Snapping her head in a different direction, she noticed something dark dart into the room, it was her cat Shadow, "Ondrea! I have been looking for you everywhere!" he said, possibly distracting the other gilr from her sleep or her tjoughts.

'Come on!' a figure of a boy cried as his messy brown hair bounded a head of her in a maze of green. 'Wait,' came her reply, as Rezna chased hopelessly after her older brother. 'I don't know where to go! Hold on!' He was running away, he was leaving her behind. 'Please, Elexi!' It was hopeless, she was going to lose him.
The scratching of a quill on parchment made Rezna open her eyes, a voice made her tense up and turn her head. She saw a girl, a small girl, sitting a good distance away from her, but no boy. She was sure she had heard a male voice, but perhaps that was her dream.
'He's not here. It was only a dream. Everyone's fine,' she told herself, trying to get her dream to leave her thoughts. 'What time is it anyway?' she wondered, afraid that she had slept for too long. Yet with no watch she couldn't answer her question, but the darkness told her that it was not morning yet.
Rezna knew that sleep was now out of the question, for that particular dream she did not wish to continue. Dropping her legs to the ground, the tall blonde 'Puff stood up and made her way over to the railing again. She needed to get her mind off things, but nothing worked.
She stole a glance over her shoulder to where the girl sat, writing madly. She had been sure that she had heard a voice. But from where?

Sending Shadow a glare, and quickly putting her finger to her lips, she motioned over to the girl who she did not want to disturb. However, the girl had obviously been awoken, for she had walked over to the railing.
"Shadow." Ondrea hissed under her breath, but help but to give him a quick and gentle stroke on the back.
Shadow not caring what Ondrea was hinting at, at all, turned his attention to the girl in the astronomy tower, and as usual decided he would introduce himself.
Clearing his voice, still hidden in the dark, Shadow spoke, "Bonjour, Je m'apelle Shadow, et tu?" he said, as he let out a loud purr.
Putting her notebook to her side, Ondrea straightened up, looking at the girl, not realizing that the girl probably could not see her cat, and was probably thinking that Ondrea had an odd male voice.
Ondrea took a deep breath, and looked at the girl, waiting for her to reply to her cat, that liked to show off his languages.

Again the male voice broke the silence between the only two occupants of the tower. Rezna looked deeper into the darkness that was enveloping the balcony. Perhaps there was a boy there that she just couldn't see. Yet the purring sound did not escape her ears and she wondered if her mind was playing tricks on her. And no matter what she tried, the only person she could clearly make out was the silent girl. Deciding that her mind had manipulated Diamond's purr in her head, she ignored the matter entirely.
The words spoken to Rezna registered in her mind easily, for she had learned a little of the language in the muggle world. Still, she did not know what to make of this French male voice. Finally the girl decided to do the only logical thing that came to mind, respond in the like.
"Bonjour, Shadow," she said into the darkness, her accent horrible compared to his flawless speech. "Je m'appelle Rezna, enchante." That being the range of her French speaking abilities, Rezna switched to her native tongue. "Do you speak English, por chance?" she asked, glancing at the girl, although it was obvious that someone else was talking.
By that time, Rezna had turned her back to the railing and was facing the girl that was sitting on the bench. She had not spoken a word to her, and Rezna wondered why. After all, by her arm movement, she could tell that the stranger knew of the mysterious presence. "I hope I'm not disturbing you miss," she said to the girl after what seemed an hour of silence.

Ondrea glanced at Shadow, from the corner of her eye, a smile curving on her dark lips. Shadows was purring even louder, as he emerged excitedly from the darkness, his emerald green eyes glowing, as he looked at what he thought to be a marvelous girl.
Ondrea was surprised when the girl who introduced herself as Rezna seemed to direct a question to her, but she answered quietly, almost in a shushed voice, "Yah-" before she could say anymore she was cut off by her cat.
Pointing madly to Rezna, an over-joyed look spread upon his furry face, "She speaks French! She does! She speaks French!"
Ondrea couldn't help but put on a small, but strange looking smile, because the action was foreign to her. Nodding at Shadow, he turned his head towards Rezna, muttering something excitedly under his breath, "The first she is, she is the first!"
Offering his paw to Rezna, he purred, "Enchantée de faire votre connaissance, Rezna!"
Ondreas' eyes fell back to her notebook on the ground, and she picked it up, she would let Shadow and Rezna socialize, Ondrea tried to be 'distant' from humans, they were not normally the nicest of beings; remembering that Ondrea was a faerie made her cringe, she checked to see if her wings were visible, they were not- thankfully. Opening her book, she continued writing, but this time it was a song. Whispering the words under her breath, as she scribbled them down.
"My World Its' fallen into Pieces Pieces that you You won't under Stand. My Nightmare its living Lurking in the Shadows The Shadows of Ruin Shattered Dreams The blood It is the tears That don't want to Spill the thoughts are so tempting Never Leaving My World Its fallen into Pieces..."
Ondrea continued scribbling things down, when her song was interupted by Reznas' voice, her dark eyes slowly crawling up her paper, and over her note-book, just peering over it, so she could see Reznas' face, "You didn't..." Her eyes falling back to her paper, she mumbled something else, "I was afraid I bothered you, sorry if I did." she said in her quiet voice.

If it had not been for the cold touch of air that crawled up her arms whenever the breeze skimmed the balcony and the light dizziness Rezna had from the height, the girl would have been sure that she was living a dream. Or more precisely, that she was in a dream.
The male voice finally showed himself in the form of a cat, a talking cat. The girl had never in her life seen such a creature and her first reaction was alarm. She stifled a small gasp while letting her green eyes jump between the cat and what appeared to be his owner, the little girl on the bench. Taking deep breaths, she managed to calm herself before letting anyone notice her reaction.
As the cat extended his paw, Rezna's brain digested what he said and focused on the translation allowing her to relax from shock. "Oui," she whispered quietly, hoping she understood Shadow correctly, "It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance as well." Hesitantly she lightly wrapped her fingers around his small paw. Shock gone, a small smile lit her features as she looked at the speaking cat in wonder. "I have to say, you are the most intelligent cat I ever met."
Diverting her eyes so that she did not end up staring at the cat, her green eyes ended up on the other individual on the balcony.
"I was afraid I bothered you, sorry if I did" the girl said in the darkness.
"No, you didn't," she replied quietly, seeing that the girl was already engrossed in her writing. Rezna noted that the other seemed tense, almost uncomfortable, although she could not find a reason for that. Her English seemed fine, so at least Rezna's theory of the stranger being French disappeared. And so, not sure of what to say to the girl she turned to the cat with a smile.
"Tell me, Mr. Shadow," she said softly, so as not to disturb the girl, "are there many cats that can communicate to humans out loud like yourself? Forgive my forwardness. I do not want to offend you. It's just that I have never met any with such abilities before."

Shadow shook her hand, quickly and then he sat back down, looking at Ondrea, trying to urge her to speak, eventually he gave up, and he returned his eyes to Rezna. Blushing slightly, but it was not noticable, his fur covering any skin, "Well, that is very nice of you, I like to have reasonable convertsations with people, and not waste my time with people of no intelligance. Unfortuanately for me, I have met up with a lot, of well- let us just say- not the brightest people." he said, glancing at Ondrea.
Ondrea continued to mumble the verses of her new song, knowing for a fact that the girl would find her strange, That's all right, you don't want to make friends, you don't want to be caught with those stupid people, who are self-centered little bit- Ondrea stopped her writing, catching Shadows' eye, but pretending that she had seen nothing, scrumaged through her bag, looking for some gum, but nope, her hand found her ciggarette package.
Resisting the urge, to light the damn thing up, she threw the package back in, glancing to see if Shadow or the girl had seen what she had pulled out, and she hastily zipped the bag up.
Placing her book down, she stretched out her arms, and straightened out her legs, gazing up into the stars, goosebumps slowly developing on her pale skin. Eventually she let out a shiver, and her teeth started to chatter, "Damn wind." she muttered under her breath.
Looking back at Shadow, who was positively sending her a death glare, Knew it, he just had to see, it wasn't like I was going to... but luckily the awkward moment was saved, by the girls comment, "Thats' good." she said quietly.
Looking back at Shadow, he was about to speak to her, about her little package, but soon was cut off by Reznas' comment, "It is not to forward, my dear." Shadow spoke quietly, sending the odd glare to Ondrea, "Not many cats can speak to humans, you need the best of owners for them to be capable of such things, but even the best of owners can do the stupidest things." SHadow said, hinting towards Ondrea, "But no, it is expected that you would be surprised that I talk, for most cats just meow to eachother, although, that is their language, and most humans can't understand it either, I guess you would need the best pet to teach you how to speak cat." Shadow said jokeingly.

Rezna nodded in understanding to the cat as he spoke. She was especially glad that he did so in English. Still the quiet girl's mumbling reached Rezna's sensitive ears making it hard to avoid it. Now each move of the other girls' practically showed her stress and perhaps anger.
Rezna looked Shadow and saw how he kept glancing menacingly at the girl behind him. He too must have seen her distress which supported Rezna's guess.
Once Shadow finished, Rezna smiled at him and stepping closer to the girl. She looked the other girl over with her green eyes. "Is everything all right?" she asked quietly. "I couldn't help but notice that you were upset." Genuine worry showed through her green eyes as it often did towards any stranger.

Ondrea stared at the Rezna, who asked her if she was all right, "Ha." Ondrea said quietly, "I am fine, just c-cold." she said, avoiding anything to do with her bad habbit, or anything else of her painful past.
Shadow walked slowly up to Ondrea, and sat on her lap, "Am I going to have to babysit you?" he asked in a mocking voice, looking at Ondrea.
Ondrea picked her cat up, and placed him on the ground. "Don't be a smart ass." she muttered, looking at her cat, as if it were a germ, "I don't need that from you too." she said.
"How incredibly rude!" Shadow exclaimed, "Fine then, if I am not appreciated I will run away, that way I can finally please you."
Ondrea glared at her cat, "Thank-you." she snarled, expecting Shadow to sulk, and then leave her be, but she was wrong.
Shadow put his tail in the air, and started to head downwards, he was serious. Jumping to her feet, Ondrea hurried to Shadow, swept him off his feet, and whispered into his ear, "I didn't mean that, its' just- its just hard to over-come some things, and to be put-down by one of the only things that sees through my mask, it just hurts." Ondrea said, holding her cat to her chest, and then returning to her bench, her tall, but skinny figure, barely able to walk, taken over by tiredness.
Shadow was still a bit peeved, and decided to get revenge on Ondrea anyway, "How rude, you havn't even introduced yourself to this lovely young lady." Shadow said, a smirk across his face.
Ondrea pretended she hadn't heard the comment Shadow had said, and smiled at Rezna, "Yah, I know I am weird, aren't I?" she said quietly, covering her mouth, "God I don't even think about what I do."

The blonde Hufflepuff nodded as the girl replied to her. Yet the conversation was not extended as Shadow took matters into his own paws. Rezna watched the interaction between the girl and the cat with interest and without comment. She was about to walk away from them, so as not to intrude, when something about the girl caught her eye.
Rezna was amazed for the second time that night as she saw the little girl run after her cat, for there was a pair of wings positioned on her back. Pinching herself, Rezna made sure that she was not asleep. She had heard of fairies of course, but had never seen one of them before. Yet, she kept her surprise to herself, once again not letting it show on the surface.
As the pair returned, Rezna had unnoticeably moved away from the girl's bench. She would have left them alone, had she not heard Shadow mention herself. Turning, Rezna caught a smile from the girl and walked back towards them while listening to the other speak.
"You aren't strange. At least, I have seen too much of that in myself lately. Now you have to do something extraordinarily weird to make me notice," Rezna said with a smile. "And I don't blame you for not thinking, for it is late, and cold, and we both are tired to some extent."
Realizing that Shadow was right about them not being introduced, Rezna extended her hand toward the girl before her. "I believe we have not met yet. I'm Rezna Lardale, Hufflepuff."

Ondrea looked amazed, "Uh huh, you really don't think I am strange?." Ondrea said, not expecting an answer, for she knew that the girl probably did think she was strange, and she was used to people thinking that, the truth was... she was strange.
Ondrea looked at the girl, and then at Shadow, he had gotten what he wanted, "Cool, I am Ondrea from Slytherin." Ondrea said quietly, eyeing her black finger-nails.
She played with her silver chain necklace, and dazed off, thinking of what was going on in her cats mind?!

Rezna pulled her hand back a little uncomfortably. Still, the girl did not seem unfriendly so the Hufflepuff did not retreat entirely.
"It's a pleasure Ondrea. And I truly do not see you as strange. At least you have not done anything strange in my presence tonight."
Thinking, Rezna was sure that she had heard of Ondrea before from someone. Racking her memory, she tried to pin point who it was that spoke of the fairy before. After a while she found she couldn't remember, but whoever it was told her how nice and pleasant Ondrea was. Rezna hoped that her opinion would not change.
"Shadow is your pet than," she said as she leaned her back against the railing on the balcony. The thought of how high she was unnerved Rezna although she fought her fear. "You're lucky if he is, for as he said, such animals are not common. My own cat is a quiet grey ball of mischief. I guess I should be grateful he doesn't talk, for I'd hate to know his opinion of most people. You see, he distrusts most of the human population."

Ondrea didn't trust many people, she thought this girl was just too nice to make fun of her, and would not admit that she thought she was strange, "Oh... Well that is nice of you." Ondrea said, glancing down at her notebook.
Ondrea nodded, "Yes, he is one of my pets." she said quietly, without thought, "I guess I am lucky, sometimes I wish he would keep his mouth shout." she said quietly, not thinking what she had said.
Looking up at Rezna, as she spoke about her cat, "Her and I have a lot in common then." she said quietly, bending her legs, and hugging them.

Hearing that Shadow was not her only pet brought her memory into order. Rezna nodded her head, for she was pretty sure that she knew what the other one was. At least she remembered who it was that spoke so nicely about Ondrea and the pet that he so longed to see.
"You like animals then," Rezna began, hoping to stick up a conversation. She could see that Ondrea did not trust her but the girl wasn't about to hold it against the Slytherin. "Seeing as you just said you have a few. It's interesting for that trait is ever so common among us Hufflepuffs. May I ask what other animals you have, since if Shadow is so unique I wouldn't be surprised if the others were as well."
Rezna was pretty sure she knew what the answer to her question was, but she knew that Ondrea had to be the first to tell her. It was only right, and Rezna was not about to invade the others privacy or private life.
