The Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom was devoid of people, but not of decoration. Many strange and interesting artifacts were laid across the bookcases lining the room. (Think classroom in the 3rd movie). A large phonograph sat atop a bookcase with several records beside it. All were either swing or jazz music. The door to the attatched office was open and a well played rendition of Sing, Sing, Sing (With a Swing) wafted into the classroom. Other noticable things were the intricate and beautiful models of ships at various places around the room, as well as a large anchor sitting near the staircase to the office. The teacher's desk held many photographs as well as a ship's compass. Piper Rubens strolled down from her office. The woman was in her early twenties, with shoulder-length hair in the shade of a natural vibrant red-orange. It was held out of her warm brown eyes with a navy blue headband. She was dressed, not in a long robe, but in khaki slacks and a loose collered navy blue sweater. The sleeves of the sweater were pushed up to her elbows showing tan arms. Brown boots completed the ensemble. A gold coin hung on a strap of leather around her neck and she wore a gold ear cuff on her left ear. Despite her young age, she had an air of wisdom about her, giving others the idea that she'd seen many things and lived for adventure. Her slim but muscular shape as well as tanned skin confirmed this. Her eyes, though, twinkled with humor and her mouth was curled in a slight smile. Rubens pulled her wand, long and worn, but well cared for, and levitated a large stack of identical books from a nearby bookcase to her desk. She placed one on each of the students desks. www.freewebs.com/sydneyrubens/She surveyed the room, clasped and rubbed her calloused hands together, grinning. Everything was set. She hopped easily onto the edge of her desk and sat, waiting patiently for her students to arrive.

Faye sighed as she walked into the classroom, not at all suprised to see another new teacher standing behind the desk. Defence Against the Dark Arts was one of her best subjects, but she commonly disliked the first lesson. It was all about "getting to know each other." In general, Faye would rather be doing something than spending time writing about herself.
She doubted that this class would be much different.
Sitting down at a desk somewhere in the middle, she sighed once more and ran her hands through her shaggy hair. The weather outside was muggy and rather unpleasant, only adding to the prefect's bad mood. Yawning slightly, she flipped through the textbook and waited for the lesson to begin.

Mel entered the class room for once like a normal student useing the door. She walked in and smiled at the teacher. She was not used to Defence Against The Dark Arts. When she was at drumstang She was taught The Dark Arts. Now She had to learn the other way around. She looked quite nervous and took a seat close to the back and planed to save a seat beside her for her friend Hayzie.
When she got to her seat she sat down and set up her things and put her bag on the seat beside her so it could be saved. She took out her silver parchment and black ink and black quil and got redy for the class to begin. And then looked in the direction of the door for hayzie to enter.......

Ashlle walked in to her first DAtDA class in quite a while.
"Good Morning Professor -er- Professor." she said realizing too late she didn't know the New Professors name. Sitting down, she quickly scanned the book to see what the assignment would be. Gee, it doesn't say which part we will be studying today thought Ashlle. Maybe I should simply read thought the whole thing.
Before she did however she wished to ask a question. Razing her hand she asked: " Professor, are you aware of Magic Horizons latest dilemma?"

[glow=purple,2,300]Dovie was running as fast as she could to arrive at her first DADA class. She wasn't late, contraire, she wanted to be early. DADA would probably be her most favorite class in the entire school, because she just loved learning about strange artifacts and everything of that sort. She was running full-speed towards the door, seemingly about to shut, and slipped in right before it closed. Not that she couldn't opent he door herself, but she would've slammed into it otherwise, and that would not be a good first impression. WOW!!!!!! Dovie thought, her green eyes bright and wide as she surveyed the room. "Cooool!" Was the first word Dovie spoke in the classroom, and it would probably be echoed by her many, many times. She wandered towards the bookcase, her bag slung over her arm, and had a huge smile on her face, unbeknownst to herself. Dovie scuttled over to a desk towards the very front of the class, right in front of the teacher's desk, and gently placed her bag in the chair, her black hair nearly getting caught on the straps as she did so. Dovie quickly pulled her thick, long wavy hair into a high ponytail and pushed the suede sleeves of her tunic up to just above her elbows. Her mocassins allowed her to somewhat slip and glide across the floor of the classroom, and she decided it best to go introduce herself to the new Professor. She spied a woman in her early twenties and walked over in a very mature manner (perfect posture, etc.). "Hello, would I be right in thinking you are the new DADA Professor..?" Dovie asked, her hands clasped in front of herself, her chin up, and a gleam of respect shining in her eyes.[/glow]

Kyoske walked into class slowly, he had twisted his ankle on the run to the class. He hated those stupid stairs that was the third time in two weeks that they tripped him. And they never seemed to bother anyone else. He would more likley jinx the stairs later, but for now DADA class.
As he walked in he saw Melody, the girl from Charms Class. He walked by her "Hey Mel, so who you waiting for?" he ask kindly as he toke a seat in the middle of her table, leaving the seat to his right open for someone else.

"Hayzie.." Mel replied quietly. She remembered Kyoske from her first class this morning of charms. Kyoske than had sat inbetween her and hayzie who she had not met at that time. For her and hayzie had just met in astrolagy. She smiled sweetly at Kyoske and than looked back at the door for hayzie.....

Post by Teagan on Jun 13, 2005 22:02:47 GMT
Yawning, Teagan walked an average speed to her first Defense Against the Dark Arts or dada class. Dada is much faster to say, she reasoned. Saying, "Defense Against the Dark Arts," is five syllables longer than "Dada." Her long red hair was still held out of her face by the green ribbon she had used to make a lazy pony-tail with. Maybe I shouldn't try so hard next time...? I'm tired...
When the red-eyed girl made it to the classroom, she had still managed to get there earlier, tired or not. Teagan walked over to the row of desks on the right side of the classroom, and sat in the second seat to the front.
Teagan gave a half-hearted glance around the room. The thing that stood out in her mind was that Dovie was talking with the teacher. Teagan thought she looked very strange because of the way she was acting. Okay. What's the deal? Teagan wondered. Having nothing better to do, she leaned back, observed the things in the room, and kept glancing over at the professor and Dovie.

[glow=purple,2,300]Fav class.. Dovie thought over, a short smirk appearing then disappearing on her face as she glanced at Teagan from the corner of her eye. Tired enough..? Dovie sent over again, suppressing the rising urge to smirk just the slightest bit, but it being covered up in totality from the big grin already there.[/glow]

Starlit walked into the Defense against the Dark Arts classroom. Dark blue eyes scanned the space. Every teacher seemed to decorate their classroom in a different way, so she liked to take a few seconds to look at the decorations before class began.
Quietly she walked over to a desk towards the middle of the room. Putting her black shoulder bag on the floor she sat towards the middle of the classroom. Absently she fiddled with the silver and blue necklace that she always seemed to be wearing.

"Yeah, I think so," sent Teagan back to Dovie. "I think another class writing assignment might do it."
Teagan lazily eventually noticed Starlit look around the classroom, and sit down near the middle. She began to fumble with her necklaces. "Hey, Star!" Teagan quietly shouted. She gave Starlit a lazy wave.

Kaige walked into the class, a few strands of his reddish hair falling on his face. He sighed and brusted them away easily. He looked about the class and saw no one he remembered that well, he had just recently returned to the school. He still had no clue why his mother had called him home for nearly 8 months. He had been home schooled, which seemed to be at times better sense he had his home library to look into, where no books where restricted. He had learned alot about the dark arts, as well as loads of defense against them.
He walked to the back of the class and sat down, he toke his wand out and lay it next to his book, as well as fetching a quill, some ink and some parchment out of his bag and placed them next to the book opposite the wand. He looked up at the board then at the students, it was clear the the professor has not given out the assignment just yet.
He sat quietly at the back of the class, he hated to be the spot light, it was always easier to get something done if you worked in the dark so to speak. He began to subconsciously rub his right hand, which was gloved. As he watched the students he got the feeling there was nothing major happening in anyone's lives, that always seemed to put off a aura of edginess. Kaige was a natural at Empathy, he could with focus actually feel what others where feeling both mentally and psychically

Aidana Hawkins serenly walked into the Defense Against the Dark Arts class. She was quite excited to be here actually. Defense Against the Dark Arts had always been her favorite class, and now she was finally here. She didn't remeber the last Professor, though she did remember the class. It had been pure chaos, and not a lot of people had known what was going on. She looked up to see the new Professor. At least she looked as if she was in control. All the new teachers were quite young, and they all seemed quite relaxed. She smiled at the new Professor and looked around the room for a seat. The room itself was very unique. Bookcases lined the walls, and there were a variety of model ships around the room. Aidana saw two people she knew in the class. She nodded at both Dovie and Teagan, but chose to sit in the back of the room, next to a boy she didn't now. He looked new, so Aidana decided to go talk to him.
" Hi, I'm Aidana Hawkins Gryffindor," she introduced herself, smiling, to the other redhead.

Kaige looked at her for a moment "Hello." he said calmly and kindly tot he girl. He didn't know her,but that didn't mean he would be disrespectful to her. He smiled at her after he spoke then added "My name's Kaige Maverick." he lifted his right hand up to greet her. The glove was dragon hide but it was muggle style, with the fingers cut off. He waited for her to take his hand.
