*he laughed and began to make it look like the inkwell was slowing down, and just before the quill caught it , it would jump forward. Finally he allowed the inkwell to be caught and began looking for his second charm.*
"hmmm, what should I do next?"
*he thumbed through a couple of pages and found another charm, he pointed his wand at a chair and said the words of the charm*
"Incarcerous!"
*A few ropes shot out of the wand and tied themselves around the chair*
"Cool!"
*he said as he marveled at what he had done*

Anna listened to Professor Rubens and then skimmed through the chapter on Charms, Curses, and Hexes. She decided on *Scorgify* and *Wingardium Leviosa* She took her wand out of her forest green bag and pointed it at her chair. "Wingardium Leviosa!" She said clearly and watched as her chair floated up about 2 1/2 feet in the air, and then she let it down gently. Anna smiled, and decided that her chair needed cleaning, so she would clean her chair in front of Professor Rubens and for now, she'd clean her ink bottle. Anna pointed her wand at the ink bottle and clearly said, "Scorgify!" she watched as all of the dust that was on her ink bottle, was gone.
Anna walked up to the front of the room and smiled at Professor Rubens as she walked toward her. "I have chosen Wingardium Leviosa and Scorgify." she started to tell Rubens, "Wingardium Leviosa could be used when you need to move something that is either too heavy, or just too lazy to pick it up," she said with a smiled, to show that she was joking. "And Scorgify can be used if you need to clean something quickly, or say you are reading a book, and it's so dusty that you can't read a certain page, you could use this spell." she finished explaining. Then, Anna took her wand and pointed it to her chair and said clearly, "Wingardium Leviosa!" She watched her chair float up about 2 feet again, and she brought it towards her and set it down on the floor in front of her. Finally, Anna pointed her wand at the chair once more and said clearly, "Scorgify!" and all of the dust, dirt, and graffiti that was on it, was gone. Anna turned back to Professor Rubens and smiled.

Genesis was sitting in the second row third back from the door. He was unsure of what charms to use to make a good impression on the professor. He wanted to use two that complimented each other well but didn’t take to much work to do the spells because he feared they would mess up and make him look foolish.
He found two spells that would be easy to cast and more likely not to mess up and make him look like a first year student. He looked around for a target and found one a old trash can that he could jinx to bits without someone yelling over it. He then decided on a better first spell and just changing the order of the spells to make them compliment each other enough to make it look like a decent bit of magic
Genesis raised his hand to get the teachers attention. “Professor Rubens I am going to use that old trash can in the corner there.” he said softly giving her a brief warning about what he would be doing. “I am going to blow it up.” he said simply
He pointed his wand at the trash can and smiled as he motioned his wand in the manner of the levitation spell. “Wingardium Leviosa”. He motioned the trashcan up into the air and away from the class so that none were hurt by the next spell. He focused on the levitation spell as he got ready to cast his second spell. “Reducto” he uttered a blue light shot form his wand and hit the trash can dead center. The can crumpled under the initial impact before exploding into rubble.
He looked at the professor “The Levitation spell can move things out of your way or to get something out of your reach.” he explained his first spell “The second spell Reducto is used to unblock your path or to simply get ride of something such as that trash can.

Post by Mikayla (back <3) on Aug 15, 2005 23:37:29 GMT
A young woman wearing the uniform of a slytherin ran into the classroom, breathing heavily enough to have just run a race. She, however, did not seem so tired as she moved to the back of the classroom, took a textbook, and opened it to the first lesson. A glance at one of the students performing, and the teen looked back at her own book, reading the information quickly.
Late again, Mikayla thought, risking a glance with her fire-bright blue eyes at the teacher. If that darned ghost hadn't led her off in the wrong direction and those paintings hadn't goaded her into trying that wall that was a wall for a door. She sighed, all pretense of a lack of breath leaving. It was fine, the teacher would probably understand, and if she didn't, Mikayla would explain that she was new and was having some difficulties with the campus grounds. Mika ran a hand through the back of her hair, took out a wand and scanned the page in her text book, smiling when she saw two that seemed like fun.
"Professor," Mikayla blushed as she realized that for the second time she didn't even know her professor's name. She moved to the front of the room, targeted a chair with her wand since it had legs too, and loudly stated, "Tarantallegra!" The chairs legs trembled, slowly began to shake, then began moving the chair in an odd dance as opposing legs wished to go opposite ways. "Tarantallegra's use is that it causes the castee to dance uncontrollably, allowing the caster to either run for their life in the face of danger or watch amusedly as someone dances their heart out." Mika moved slightly to bet a better sight on the chair and a clear line with her wand. "Rictusempra!" she called, and, although she did not know what to expect from casting that particular spell on a chair, Mika definately did not see what happened next coming. The chair fell over, legs still moving, and a mouth appeared. The chair laughed uncontrollably, shaking with the force of its laughter. "Rictusempra can...uh..." Mikayla was entranced by the sight of the chair laughing. Snapping out of it, she grinned at the teacher and said, "Rictusempra tickles the opponent, causing the castee to begin laughing uncontrollably, rendering them unable to cast so the caster can run, perform another spell, or watch, amused at the sight of someone laughing hysterically."
Mika made her way back to her desk and sat down, feeling happy. Her first two spells and they came naturally, not only that, but she was a lycan. A lycan that could now cast two spells, both with great possiblities for fun. Getting lost and being late to classes or not, Mikayla decided she would definately enjoy staying at Magic Horizons.

She walked up to the desk, her playful attitude gone for the moment. "My name is Xarian Heart. I'm in Ravenclaw and on the quidditch team. I like sports a lot." That felt strange and rushed, but that was out of the way.
"I picked two charms. One being Avis. I know this might not seem like a good charm to learn, but I can see the value in it, really. How many people wouldn't be distracted by a flock of birds flying in thier face. It's a good charm to use to surprise an attacker, and one not expected, that's for sure."
She smiled and waved her wand. "Avis." A pretty white bird joined the one she had called during practice in flying around the ceiling looking for a way out.
"My next is a little obvious. There are so many uses for Mobiliarbus. To help yourself in chores, to help others, to fight. The possibilities are endless in moving items around."
She chose to use the teachers chair as the example, thought she was almost certain she'd get in trouble. "Mobiliarbus." The chair floated in the air, though shaking and not moving quickly, it did start to slid along the floor.

Data Dias entered to classroom running, then stopped, breathing heavily. She apologized to the professor for her tardiness, and hurried to one of the few free seats, near a bookcase. She slowed her breathing, and when she felt calm enough, she picked up her DADA Schoolbook and searched for the right pages of the asignament.
Scrolling down, she found that Avis and Engorgio seemed easy enough to try out.
After trying a few times, she managed to conjure a Robin, even if just for a few seconds. Then she managed to enlarge her DADA book of a few inches.
*...Oh, well, practice makes perfect, They say... Well, I suppose I can't improve these spells much unless I'll practice for another couple of hours or so... Well, let's head to the professor's desk...* She thought.
However, while walking the few meters between her desk and the professor's one, she started to feel nervous. Her being late has made her forgotten that this was a pratical lesson and, oh boy, she was always very nervous when it was time to demonstrate something with the whole class watching.
After reaching the main desk, she coughed a bit to clear her throat, then introduced herself:
"Cough...Uhm, well, my name is Danielle Taranee Dias, Data Dias for short, I'm a Slytherin, I'm usually a quiet type, and...well, cough, I like Quidditch, but I don't wish to play it, just watching it. Uhm, the spells I've chosen are..." Data stopped talking, breathed deeply, and started the wand movement...
"...Avis!"
A very cute Robin started to fly around Data, then around the room. Seeing the he wasn't about to vanish right away, Data relaxed a bit, and resumed talking: "This spell can seems pointless, but in truth can be used to distract someone, not only an apponent you are facing, but even just a child who's crying out loud, and you need to calm it down. Children usually likes birds..." She managed a faint smile.
A moment before trying the Engorgio spell, she noticed that she had forgotten on her desk the book she had decided to use. Feeling nervous again, she wondered, almost shaking, what she could use instead. Suddenly, she noticed the Robin flying not so far from her. In the spur of the moment, she pointed her wand at it...
"...Engorgio!"
...The spell had worked!
But her nervousness had had his weight in the incantation, and the Robin continued to grow at increasing speed. Forcing back a curse word, Data almost panicked, and frantically searched her memory for a counter-spell. Finally remembering it, she started the wand movement...
"...Finite Incantatem!"
Unfortunately, the Avis spell ended in the exact moment her counter-spell collided with the bird, and the Robin litirerally exploded, feathers falling everywere in the room, expecially on Data...
"Uh... Er... Cough... The Finite Incantatem can be used to end the vast majority of simple charms, you just need to be concentrated enough on the task, while performing it... Sorry for the extra spell, professor..."
She smiled nervously.
*...I'm doomed...*

Fae zoomed toward her next class, and practically clashed into the closed door. 'Ow...' She dusted herself, and timidly entered the class. Music was floating into the air, adn Fae smiled. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad after all... She quickly bit back her smile at the sight of the redheaded woman whom she assumed was the professor. "Uh, sorry I was late. I'm, eh, new, and I get lost, hmm, easy. Sorry, really," she finished lamely, then took a seat at a random desk and placed her bag at her feet. She looked at the blackboard, then opened the book in front of her. 'Well, I think this will do... And this one, this one should be a fine one... And the one of my choice...Yes...' She bent down and took a black and red feathered quill and placed it on the desk. Taking out her wand, she concentrated in the spell, trying to Transfigurate the quill into a chalise witht he spell she'd learned in Transfiguration earlier that day. After saying the incantation, she glanced at the quill. But, there was no longer a quill, for it was a porcelain flower vase. Fae shrugged. That will do.
After practicing a while, Fae finally stepped towards the professor's desk. Looking around the classroom, she smiled at the quantity of redheads presents. "Uh, hello. I'm Amaya, but everyone calls me Fae Wings, or just Fae," she said, introducing herself. Gods, she hated doing this! "I'm Tansylvanian, but I studied all last year in Spain. Um... I like reading, writing and flying, although not necessarily Quidditch. Speaking of which, I root for the Holyhead Harpies, they're the best!" Fae reddened cpnsiderably at the last statement and almost ran out of the classroom. It was a teacher she was speaking to! "Anyway, the first spell I'll try is a shield charm. It is very useful for deflecting small jinxes, or curses, but it can save your life if you apply the sufficent magical power and concentration into it. The incantation is 'Protego'" Fae drew her wand, and flicked it, whispering, "Protego!" A semi-transparent shield appeared and enclosed on her. While holding it, she continued, "this shield will only protect the castor of magical agressivity, but not of physical one. If you'd throw a jinx at me, the jinx won't harm me, but if you'd throw a knife, the knife would trespass the shield." The shield seem to flutter, tthen disappeared. Fae continued, "the next spell I'll cast isn't in the text book, it is something I learned in the magical school of Castilla y León, a Spanish school. It produces water, and it can save you from certain death when in the desert or for handling a fire. The incantation is 'Aguamenti'." Fae quickly brought the vase from her desk to the professor's and, putting it down, drew her wand. She murmured, "Aguamenti!", and the vase filled to the rim. Fae smiled. "And, for extra credit, I'd like to do one more spell. The spell is the Confundus Charm," she said, and brandished her wand. "Serpensortia!" A snake appeared out of mid-air and fell on the floor. Fae stood there unmoved, until the snake calmed down, then spoke clearly, "This useful jinx confuses your enemy, and can get you out of the most sticky situations, for the victim of the jinx will do aproximatively the opposite of what he'd want to do. For exemple, if this snake tries to bit me and I Confund it, it'll either turn the other way, or bit you instead. Confundo!" The snake, that had been previously slythering towards the front row of desks, searching for a place to hide, turned suddenly to face the teacher's desk. Fae smiled reasuringly, then she murmured "Finite Incantem!", and the snake disappeared.

Fate rushed down the hall, why did he have to stay up so late? He moved around a corner barely missing a first year student who looked very confused at the white haired blur that nearly knocked her over. "Sorry." He called back hoping she had not fallen.
He opened the door "Hello sorry I am late, Professor." He said meekly blushing somewhat "I slept in." He admitted to his teacher making his way to the back of the class "Can I ask what we are doing?" He sounded slightly fearful that he would not find out and receive no marks.

Walking around nervously Qarrien was looking worried. If she didn’t find the class soon she was going to miss it all. She stopped and peered in some classes, wondering if she should ask someone. She spotted a door and it looked like it could be the right class. She knew around about where it would have been. Qarrien crossed her fingers as she walked in.
Qarrien walked into the class, she was new and hoped the teacher would understand. She strolled over to the door. “Sorry professor. Is this the Defense Against the Dark Art’s class? I’m lost.” Qarrien sighed thinking she was most likely in the wrong place again.

Ok. Now to show the teacher. The girl wandered up to the teacher (who just happened to be behind her desk by now, after helping out the others), and said, "Uh, I'd like to show you my spells now." Mutteringly scared, Carmen reached into her pocket to pull back out her wand. "Oh! And my name is Carmen Thompson from Hufflepuff."
First off she'd go make something large. But what? She stared around, and it became obvious. Herself! "Engorgio!" she cried after pointing her want at her chest. Almost instantaniously her feet swelled up, along with her hands and head, then the rest of her body followed. But it was too much. She was growing too tall. If she wasn't quick enough, she'd bump her head on the roof!
Quickly, she cried out "Reducio!", and in the same order, but far quicker, she shot down to the same height she had arrived into the class as. With a quick huff, she spoke, "Well, Engorgio is very handy if you want to pick up something small from the ground, or you want to study it. It's also handy in duels, maybe making the closest table impove its size then send it flying. I'd prefer the studying method, probably mostly useful on insects and parasites."
She giggled. "And of course, Reducio is good in duels too, as well as helping out me in making me go back to normal! Also, if you had an attack from the master parasite, you could just change it back to its normal size and give it a good telling off."
But instead of using the cleaning spell, the girl went with something she had skimmed over in the book. "Incarcerous!" she yelled, pointing her wand at the desk the teacher was behind. Quickly it was bound tightly by ropes, and if it happened to move (which wasn't normal), it couldn't get out of them. "And Incarcerous is quite helpful if you don't want something to move or go anywhere. I mean, who wouldn't want their drawers shut tight from burglers?" Carmen punned.
"It would help with creatures as well as people. Though something small like this wouldn't do as much if they still had their wand, the spell would be useful on people like death eaters." Yes, she had heard of them. But she didn't go into depth. "But I'd prefer to just enlarge a creature to really study it. That's what I love, creatures great and small."
Finally, she went red.

Qarrien, who had chosen a seat at the back of the classroom that had been unoccupied by anyone and was good for sitting alone, stared at Carmen with an amused smile, the fellow Hufflepuff was very good at what she did. Qarrien thought anyway. She felt a tinge of sorriness as she saw the redness Carmen went after her hypo trip.
Qarrien studied a little silver hair pin that she was trying to engorge. She said the incantation as best as she could, remembering the proper pronunciation but she kept her eyes closed all the same because she didn’t want to know if it had failed yet again but when she opened her eyes, to her complete disbelief, she had made the pin grow to twice its size! “YAY!!!” Qarrien yelled then shut up quickly as people looked round at her. Stupid me! Keep that up and you’ll get thrown out! She thought to her self then sighed.
As that one had worked she dared her self to try the next one she had decided on, Mobiliarbus. She said the word as best as she could and concentrated very hard on the little hair pin once more. As Qarrien looked in stunned happiness, the pin started to levitate a bit. Even if it was only a few inches off the desk, she still did it. Feeling happy with herself she sighed deeply and leaned back on her chair.

Krista cursed herself to hell and back as she dragged herself into the classroom, angry that she was late for her favorite class, DADA. Especially on the first day of class. Oh well, what's done was done.
"Sorry I'm late Professor...um..." she glanced at the board, "Rubens. I woke up late again today," she muttered, taking a seat next to a Slytherin student and looked to the board for instructions.
'Easy enough.' She decided, and opened her books, looking through for a good spell. 'Hm...'
She deicded on working on incendio, a spell that lights things on fire, and reducto, a spell that makes things explode. Two very useful spells for torture, I mean fighting.
"Incendio!" she said, pointing her spell at her parchment. It burst into flames. She cackled loudly. "I like this one!" she said joyfully.
"Reducto!" she said calmly, again, and her books smashed into the table oppsite hers. "s***," she muttered, summoning them back with a simple 'accio'.
She walked up to Ruben's desk, and smiled at him. "I'm Krista, Slytherin. My favorite color is green, and this is my favorite subject. And I think that's all you need to know about me."
She flicked her wand and set another peice of parchment on fire with her 'incendio'. "Incendio, used to light stuff on fire. Probably best to hold an enemy captive in a small place, maybe to burn something that shouldn't be seen my someone else," she explained.
"Reducto!" she yelled, and some of the teachers books smashed on the shelves. "Sorry Professor," she muttered and picked them up for him, stacking them neatly.
"Reducto, used to smash things out of the way, as you can see. Probably best used to get things out of your way, a small wall or something of that sort."
She stopped, awaiting the Professor's decision on her marks.
