Aidana smiled at Melody, and opened her textbook and read through it. All of it was quite intersting and she brightened up considerably. These were spells that she could do. She took her wand out, and selected a spell. It wasn't a particuarly difficult one, but it was fun to do. She pointed her ebony wand at a nearby chair.
" Tarantallegra," she said, flicking her wand. The legs of the chair began to dance, and it danced farther away from her, in danger of running into her other classmates.
" Finite Incatatem," she said, chuckling. She was so easily amused. Turing back to the book, she looked for a spell which she would show Professor Reubens. While reading, she heard Sylph's question distinctly. Excusing herself from the group, Aidana went to stand next to her friend. She smiled at Sylph, and then to the Professor.
" A volunteer? I can do that. Besides, Sylph and I need to learn how to work together now don't we?" she said, putting emphasis on the last sentence. She didn't know exactly what Sylph had told the Professor, and she didn't want to take the chance.
" Besides, after she's done hexing me, I can show you my spell Professor."

Teagan's hearing was very capable. She had trained it do work well because of her terrible eyesight. Without her magically enhanced contacts in, all Teagan was able to see was some of the more noticeable shadows, so she had made her hearing better in case she need to go somewhere in the middle of the night suddenly or someone went to the area she was at without her contacts. She wasn't exactly the most trusting person. Hearing was a necessary asset to her. A special defense class? she thought hearing parts of the teacher's conversation. This is interesting.
"Hey, Dovie," mind-spoke Teagan, "it sounds like the red-haired first year told the teacher about D. D. Was she talking to you a second ago? I sensed something go through."
Teagan blasély said, "Orchideous." Flowers blurted out of the end of her wand. She opened up her textbook, and turned to the page. After looking over the list, Teagan picked up the flowers, and set them to the corner of her desk. That particular charm wasn't on the pages. She looked through the list to find out what was actually in it. Most of the spells listed, she noted, were ones she had used before. Teagan decided to use the spells at the very top of the page, she wasn't going to be picky.
After walking a few steps away from her desk, Teagan hissed, "Accio quill," and gave a flick with her wand. The black quill that had been laying on her desk zoomed into her hand. She walked back over and set the quill back down.
The other spell at the top of the page was Alohomora, the unlocking charm. Teagan closed her dada book, and aimed her wand at it. "Colloportus." Suddenly, a lock and latch appeared on her book and the book became firmly locked. "Alohomora." The came undone, and soon vanished.
Carrying only her wand, the red eyed maiden gracefully walked over to the line at the teacher's desk. Hopefully, she'd be able to get this done soon enough. The sooner, the better, she thought. The apathetic girl patiently waited for the students in front of her to finish their charms, hexes, and curses, and for Dovie's reply.

After she had listened to the assignment Starlit read her book over. "This looks interesting" she said to herself. Reaching for her bag she pulled it onto her lap. Digging through the mess she eventually pulled out a small bottle of invisible ink. She dipped her silver quill into it and drew a quick smiley face on the page.
Taking her willow wand she pointed it at her parchment. "Aprecium". The text flashed in view for a moment and then disappeared. She tried again this time revealing the happy face. "Well I got that one."
Once again she looked in the textbook. This one looks interesting as well. This time she pointed her wand in the air, "Avis" nothing happened. On her third try a blue bird flew from her wand a looped a circle around the classroom before flying out the window.
Starlit got out of her seat and lined up by the teachers desk with her wand and began to think of reasons why the spell would be useful.

Kaige lifted the book up off the table and opened it to the page she had said to. He easily saw that this assignment was going to be a piece of cake. He skimmed the list of spells running his finger down the length of the page as he passed each spell. As he read each spell his mind played a short film of his experience with that spell. Some of course he had not used or had used on him or near him. Avis for example was new to him, he had heard of it but never used it. He decided to go with two basic spells that would be easy to explain.
He left the book open to the Stupefy (the spell check actually has this as a real word) spell and the Aprecium spell. Both were basic spells for defense against the dark arts. He toke his wand out and a piece of parchment, then a small ink well with a silvery blue ink in it. After writing Hello Professor Rubens on the paper with the ink, the ink quickly seemed to disappear.
He had not used the Aprecium spell for a long time, so he had to practice that one. He tapped the parchment and said clearly and firmly "Aprecium." a light flashed faintly and the words showed up slowly on the page. He looked up and tapped the wand again "Finite Incantatem" he muttered as the ink became invisible again. he moved up to the line forming at the teacher's deck with his wand and the piece of parchment.

Zee listened to what Ruebens, and Ashlle had to say, then mulled it over in her mind, while looking at the list of spells. Randomly, she pointed her wand at the ground at pronounced "Serpensortia" as clearly as she could. A small garter snake oozed out of the tip, and flicked its tongue out at her. Zee picked it up, and let it twine about her fingers, pleased with herself for getting it right. "Okay, little guy, I'm gonna try a spell on you. I hope you don't mind." The small snake just flicked it tongue, and stared at Zee. She pointed her wand at the snake, and whispered "rictusempra," hoping that her deminished voice would lighten the spell's effect. The snake started to wiggle and hiss frantically in Zee's hand. "Hey, hey, it's okay, little guy. Here, Finite Incantatem!" Zee said, and the snake dissapeared. "Oops. Well, I hope he's okay." Zee looked over the list again, and noticed 'Mobilicorpus' on the list. She wondered if that might be a useful spell in the attack. She decided to try that one, and the snake spell, for the assignment. She got up from her desk, and walked to the front of the room to wait in line for her demonstration, still mulling the information about the attack over in her mind, and wondering if her voodoo scrapbook could tell her anything about it.

OoC: Ok, to make life easier for all of us, instead of lining up at the teacher's desk and waiting for everyone to go in order, simply post it as if it were your turn. that way, we don't have to wait until certain people are on. I'll put your grade at the end of your post after you completed it.
IMPORTANT- I've had an inquiry about the use of the unforgivable spells. Please don't perform one in this thread. I will set up another thread done soley on those. Then you can work on those.
Thanks!!

Sylph snapped her head round as she heard familiar steps behind her. Aidana was coming up to the desk to do her work. Sylph smiled to herself as her friend performed a very neat uncontrollable dancing hex on a chair. Not bad at all...
"I'm sure we can already work together, Aidana," she grinned in response to the girl's comments. "It's just whether you can stand having someone renowned for overdoing things performing curses on you, don't ya think?" Sylph's eyes twinkled a little at this. She'd just put a little more control on what she was doing, that's all. "First of all I'm going to conjure ropes to bind my opponent," Sylph said clearly to the Professor. "Especially useful in a duel or if there's a dangerous person about that you ned to subdue somehow without knocking them unconcious."
Raising her wand she pointed it at Aidana and cried "Incarcerous!, causing shining link chains rather than ropes hurtling at the red-haired girl from the tip of her wand, until they had her wrapped tightly from head to foot. Sylph turned her head on one side a looked on with interest as the weight from the chains sent Aidana crashing over sideways, before waving her wand and making the shackles disappear once more.
"Sorry 'bout that," she said cheerfully as she helped Aidana to her feet. "Hope it didn't hurt too much. I was going to do the Furnurculus hex on you but after that I don't think I can be that mean." She smiled a little ruefully, and quickly thought of another spell to perform. She had already done avis, but she wanted to do something a little more Dark Arts related. A sudden recklessness swept over her. Yes, why not? Her mother had shown her how to do the basics of this spell, and with Sylph's new found magical skill it shouldn't be too difficult to perform, especially without one here.
Summoning up all her strength, Sylph concentrated on a happy memory - for some reason the pillow fight in the boys dorm sprang to mind - and spoke the words loudly with as much force as she could muster.
"Expectro Patronum!"
Immediately a great shining form sprung from the end of her wand, but it was huge... So massive, that Sylph had to crane her neck up to see it properly. It was a dragon. A shining silvery translucent dragon. Sylph smiled in awe. She had never managed to make anything more than a few wisps of silver appear before now. A dragon. Cool.
She watched for a moment as the great beast let out a burst of ineffectual silver flame at the ceiling, leaving not a mark, before it faded away again. Sylph turned to Aidana and Professor Rubens, a slightly surprised look on her features, though it was masked also with a trace of pride and self-achievement.
"Well, there's my two," she said to the professor, a little shakily, though her smile never left her face. "That last one is obviously used to drive away dementors, though it might be a little more difficult to perform when a dementor is actually present. Follow that one, Aidana!"
OOC: The other part of the assignment (the bit about myself etc.) is in my last post on page 2.
Rubens grinned. "Wonderful Patronus. I remember when I got my first corporeal patronus to form. I was lucky though, as it was my first try. Suppose I do have a lot of strong memories." She shifted on her desk. "Sylph, wasn't it? Full points, 20 out of 20. Great job. I'm impressed by your choice." She turned to Aidana. "Five extra points, Aidana. Not many would be willing to do that."

Ashlle got up next. She had found two simple spells to start out with and had practiced them at her desk till she'd gotten them at least right enough to be seen.
"My name is Ashlle G. Rainier" she began speaking about herself first. "Just in case you didn't know (because you may not be interested in such things) I'm the last of the Great Pureblood Family of Rainier, and we have a Mountain in America named for us. I'm in Training with Kezaa for fighting techniques and Chris has taught me to harness my Eemental Skills. Today I will be attempting Lumos and Nox, 'Ahem'." She cleared her throat.
~"Lumos"~
A small light appeared at the end of her wand. She held it high, and showed it round just in case anyone missed it.
~"Nox"~
The small light went out and she bowed to the Professor shallowly.
"The Lumos spell is good for lighting up small dark arias like under your bed when you've lost something. Nox is good because you can't go around with a lighted wand all the time, because people will think you are peculiar. So it is good to help people understand you aren't peculiar. Thank you." And she stood politely and waited for her grade.
Rubens smiled and nodded. "Good descriptions, and amusing too. And thank you for sharing your background with me. I'm impressed by your training as well. I'll admit, though , that I'm slightly suprised by your choice of spells. I'd thought you'd try something a little more difficult. Nevertheless, you did well. 18 out of 20 points."

[glow=purple,2,300]I asked what she was doing, that's all... Dovie thought over to Teagan. I guess it'd be alright to let the teacher in on it. I mean, we do have Professor Windwaltz with us, too... Awwwwww, she stole my Avis spell! I was gonna do that! Shoot...Well, guess I could still do it. I'll just look absolutely silly next to Sylph's gynormous birds...But perhaps...if I exhibit some control and concentration, I could bring out certain birds, no..? Dovie finished her thoughts and walked up to the front. "Bravo, Sylph, Bravo. My turn!" Dovie spoke, being quite a bit more brazen and eager than usual. "Avis!" Dovie half-shouted, producing a single, white dove. It cooed in her hands before flying out the window and disappearing, never to be seen again. "Such a spell is useful for scouting areas and sending messages in haste. Perfect for emergencies in both particular cases, for a bird will notify of oncoming danger, water, and the like as well as be loyal and carry a message for you. Now... Point Me!" Dovie's wand spun in her hand and pointed left, directly North. "This shows that I am currently facing East towards Sunrise. This spell is particularly useful when one is lost, trying to figure out directions on a map, or trying to give directions to someone. I myself have used it several times in forests back home so I wouldn't get lost, but it's always a handy tool just in case. Finite Incatatum." Dovie spoke with ease, one of the only times in her life, and slipped her wand back into the pocket of her cloak. "A litle about myself...Let's see.." Dovie thought. God, another one....I hate taking about myself... "I'm American Indian, or rather, one of the Indigenous Peoples of the Americas and take great pride in my culture. I was born in America (not necessarily the US, but all of North and South..yes, she's vague about her past), and I lived in both England and Ireland for quite some time when I was young. My parents are divorced for reasons I wish not to divulge at just this point, and I live with my Mother and Brother. I have a thirst for the knowledge hidden in the past, and I'm avidly studious. I'm very hopeful of things, and extremely, perhaps overly, protective of friends and family. I'm also an artist, and I love to draw and scetch things as I see them, especially people and landscapes..." Dovie stopped; she felt like a robot just saying dull things like this, but what was she to do? There really wasn't much interesting about her to say. Well, except pranks, but...with this teacher? No, she'd leave that out...[/glow]
Rubens nodded, grinning slightly. "I like the past too. After all, we know nothing without our knowledge of history. I'm an outdoorsy sort as well," she added, looking down at her deeply tanned arm. "Well, great job on your spells. They're two personal favorites of mine. 'Point me' has gotten me out of so many problems..." she looked off as if reminiscing for a second before looking back at Dovie. Again, great job, full marks."

Mel Smiled "Yes it was Drumstang." And Then started to describe When she would use the two spells First she described her first one. "I would use my summon charm If i were in great danger. Like when im being atacked by a powerful wizard or a large demon. To bring my sword to my side." After she finished the First description she had a distant and quiet look on her face which she quickly shook off then continued. "And i normally use the "neat" charm to Gather my things and Clean my dorm. For i can't use it at home yet for i am still underaged." She smiled and then brought her hands together in the front. Waiting for the teachers reply......
OOC: sry it took me so long to reply i was busy!
Rubens grinned. 'There you go. Again, I'm impressed by your sommoning spell. And I like that second one too. I think I might start using that one. Full marks." 20/20

"Accio book," said Teagan focusing specifically on the one she left at her desk. It flew into her hand, and she caught it. "Accio is a Retrieving Charm and can be used in every day life to bring you the object you want. If it's lost, or you don't know where it is, you can use this charm to bring you the item, but you must have good concentration when using this spell. Also, you can use it to take the wand from your opponent if you're in a duel," she finished somewhat nervously. Then, she moved on. "Colloportus," whispered Teagan. The book in her hands became locked and firmly closed.
"Alohomora." The lock came undone and disappeared. "Alohomora is the Unlocking Charm and can be used to unlock doors, chests, cabinets, and anything else you can could get locked. It comes in very useful if you forget your keys, and end up locked out of your house. For the forgetful, this spell can come in very handy."
Now came the part that had caused Teagan's nervousness; the spells were easy, but this was what worried her. Back in America, a lot of the people she was related to weren't the nicest wizards and were often not on the good side. They didn't have the best reputation, and were often called "bad wizards" by some of her friends back home. She despised her relatives, but they still shared the last name. "Uh, my name's Teagan Monolayre, and I arrived at Magic Horizons a few months ago. I'm a Ravenclaw student finishing third year, and I like to read, solve puzzles, and things like that. Otherwise, there isn't much to know." She was tempted to say, "Okay. I'll go, now," but held her tongue. There. I did everything I was asked... Teagan impatiently waited for the verdict. Her red eyes were tense, but stayed serious.
Rubens smiled warmly. "Nice job. You know those two spells well. I like puzzles too. Treasure hunts are my favorite, but I like the more conventional as well. Again, nice job. 20/20"

Kaige looked at the teacher and smiled slightly. He closed his eyes and toke a calmly breath, for some reason his stomach was jumpy. He never got jumpy in class, but i guess the showing the class the spell was kind of bothersome. He opened his eyes and pointed his wand at the window. The reason for this was the bee that had just flown into the room. He focused for a moment making sure the bee was in line with his wand.
AS the bee landed on the wall he readjusted his line of sight and smiled slightly. He spoke clearly "Stupefy!." he said in a rather louder tone then he had meant to. The spell shot out and hit the bee, the bee fell to the ground, thought this was a short fall considering he had already landed. He looked at the teacher for a moment and smiled. "Well that was the Stunner charm, that is very clear what it can do, but the purpose can be offensive of defensive." he thought for a moment about what else to say "I believe it works on the principle of the electrical signals in the body, the spell disrupts the signal and send one to the brain that it is know suppose to faint, or go unconscious." he said biting his lip at the end while he added hurriedly "but i may be wrong."
He toke a the parchment and lay it on the table next to the teacher, so that she could tell it had no writing on it, or at least appeared not to have any ink on it. He tapped his wand to the paper and said "Aprecium." . The words he had written on the paper slowly came back, going from the first word to the last. He looked up "the purpose of this charm is clearly to reveal hidden messages on scrolls or anything invisible ink has been placed on." he left the parchment there as he stepped back and waited for her reply and his grade.
Rubens grinned at Kaige. "Very clever. Good descriptions too. Full marks." 20/20

Anna sat in a desk near a window, flipping through the book and sighing. 'It's a beautiful day outside...'
She finally looked at the spells and, never actually having done one, she picked two that seemed simple and practiced the incantations and wand movements.
She then walked over to Professor Rubens and said "Hello, Ms. Rubens. My name is Anna Riley and I will be performing the spells Protego and Incendio. Protego would be good to use in dueling situations to deflect spells, and Incendio could also be used in an dueling situation as a diversion. As for a little info about me: I have a really good aim."
Remembering the first spell in her head, she motioned her 9-inch, unicorn tail hair-cored Yew wand and said in a clear voice "Protego!" a blue wavy mist appeared, but then faded away.
A voice echoed through her mind. 'Nice shield you got going there.' Amadeus sneered. 'Need help?'
'I don't need help from you' she snapped back. Anna's brow knitted in determination. "Protego!"
A giant, translucent blue shield solidified before her, and when she tapped it with her non-wand hand, she noted it was as hard as rock. She grinned in satisfactory.
'Alrighty, now for the next one...'
She motioned for the Professor to follow her to a window where she planned to direct her next spell, as to not endanger her fellow classmates. She tossed a piece of parchment out the window, raised her wand and aiming it, she said ''Incendio!" At exactly the same time Amadeus said it, causing a power surge through her and transforming the spell from a simple sudden burst of flame to a flamethrower-like effect, so powerful it knocked her off her feet and onto someone's desk. The small piece of parchment was completely incinerated. 'ARE YOU BLOODY INSANE!?!' Anna screamed mentally, gasping in stunned shock. She smacked her head. 'What am I saying, of course he is...' The only response she got was Amadeus' gleeful laughter.
Rubens, unfazed, held out her hand to help Anna up. "Are you alright?" she asked, genuinly concerned, but keeping calm as she was taught. "Nice job. Personally, I haven't seen an incendio like that in a very long time. Great job, just the same. Full marks. Just a thought though, you might want to work on your control. I can help you with that, if you like. Let me know if you want to work with me sometime."

After listening intently as to what Rubens was saying about the assignment, a wave of heat flowed over her. She had to perform the spells to the teacher? This was almost too much... The girl's delicate fingers pushed open her text at the desk, and flipped through the pages on charms, curses and hexes. Her bright blue eyes scanned through the first few spells, and one caught her eye. "Engorgio," she muttered, "that one sounds like fun!"
Her hand clasped tightly around the wand in her pocket, and once she had brought it out, gave it a good flick at the shoe she had pulled off, "Engorgio!" she said. Moments passed before anything happened. Fist the shoelaces spat out large, followed by the whole thing. It ended up growing three times its original size. A smile sprawled itself across her mug. But then the problem came. How was she to return it to its normal size 9? A spell in the book on the same page told her.
With the same flick, the blue-haired girl muttered aloud "Reducio!" And sure enough, the shoe turned back to the size 9, ready to fit her feet again. The ego within Carmen inflated only slightly at this. But then she noticed that they were just that tiny bit dusty. Old shoes tended to get like that. The spell she had skimmed over a second before helped out with that. Carmen wavered her wand slowly over the pair of her shoes as she again muttered "Scourgify."
"Nice…" she grinned. Both shoes were almost squeaky clean! Now to show the teacher…

Shazza ran through the dungeons and dove into the classroom, right when the final bell rang.
'Woohoo! made it!' She quickly walked to an empty desk and set her stuff down.
Listening to the Professor, she opened her book, picked out two spells, and practiced them.
Once she had practiced enough, Shazza approached the Professor.
"'Ello, Hey You! I'm Shazzamyn, aka Shazza, and my two spells are Petrifius Totalus, which I'd use to immobilize my opponent during a duel, and Mobilicorpus, to levitate that opponent into a ditch in the middle of nowhere for attacking me in the first place. First, I need a volunteer... Unless you wouldn't mind if I do the spells on you?"
