He smiled and waved at her with his left hand. "Hi Mel, names Kaige, it is a pleasure to meet you." he looked at the girl he was holding his hand out to "Tis a pleasure to meet you as well." he said to cover all the based and make sure that he was not being rude to either girl.

Aidana smiled and shook the boy's hand. Another girl whom Aidana didn't know had come over too. Kaige looked like he wasn't used to so much attention from anybody. She turned to the other girl and offered her hand again.
" Aidana, and I don't think I've met you before. I'm sure I've seen you around though."

Zee walked carefully into the DADA room, wondering if there were any spooks or something she should watch out for. If there was ever going to be a class that would involve creepy stuff, DADA would be it. She was therefore surprised when the sight of model ships, and the sound of swing music met her respective senses. "This is the right classroom, right?" she asked to the open air, then walked in, and sat down at a random desk. She looked around at the other people also in the room, and couldn't help but think that she must look like a single white lily in a field of tulips. There were quite a few red-heads in here. Zee realized that the twenty-something red head was probably the teacher. There was one girl introducing herself, so, Zee decided, since she knew neither of them, to go introduce herself. However, a familiar face caught her eye. "Ashlle! I haven't seen you in ages! How are you?" Zee asked, and immediately sat next to her. "Been to the Graveyard lately? Any other dead boys pop up?"

Rubens grinned at the large group. Quite a few redheads, she noticed. She smiled warmly at Dovie. "Yes, I'm the new professor. It's a pleasure to meet you." She raised her voice and looked over the whole class. "Could everyone take their seats, please?" she inquired, her voice hinting of an Australian accent. She waited a bit, giving the students time to sit and settle. Having done so, she hopped off the desk and stood before the class. "Alright then. Hello and welcome to the first Defense Against the Dark Arts class of the year. I'll admit that it's my first class too. I do have an extensive knowledge of the subject, and I even co-wrote the textbook on your desks. Not exactly thrilling, but the studying that went into that text was." She looked around the room and then back at the students. "I'm Piper Rubens. You can call me Professor, Rubens, or 'hey you' if you say it loud enough so I can gather the idea that you're speaking to me. Personally, I prefer Rubens, but whatever you like. As you can see," she added, gesturing with her hands around the room, "I love ships. The anchor over there was on a ship at the bottom of the sea near the Bermuda Triangle." She picked up the copy of the textbook she'd left on her own desk. "Anyways, for your first assignment, turn to the pages on spells and charms. I'd like you to pick two that you feel you can handle, and practice them. When you're ready, I'd like you to come up to my desk, tell me what your spells are and describe a situation in which you'd use it. Then you'll demonstrate them for me. You will be graded on the difficulty of your spells and how well you perform them. Also, when you come up, I'd like to know your name, so I can grade you, obviously, but I'd also like to know something about you, if you're willing to tell me. I realize you go through a lot of these introduction classes, but I would like to get to know my students. And remember, feel free to ask me for help. It's what I get paid for," she finished with a grin. freewebs.com/sydneyrubensHaving finished describing the assignment, she walked over to the board and wrote down the assignment, so the students could reference it if needed. She looked back at the students, and motioned that they may begin. "Oh, and talk amongst yourselves, if you like. Just so long as you get the assignment done." When she finished she walked over to her desk and sat down. Looking up as if she suddenly remembered something, she searched the room 'til her eyes lit on Ashlle. She got up and walked over. "I believe you asked me something about a 'situation' of sorts at the school? I just arrived here recently, so I'm afraid I haven't heard. Would you mind filling me in?"

"Okay, Hayz. Just give this Professor a good first impression, and you'll be away!" Hayzie told herself while putting her hair into a ponytail that morning. It was true that there were a lot of new Professors at the moment, one of whom was a friend, one who thought of her as nothing more than a trickster and kept her at the front of the class, one who had offered her extra lessons, and one who didn't know she existed.
What a mixture.
However as the bell rang and the corridors began to clear, the blonde Prefect found herself on the other side of the school from the DADA classroom. "So much for good first impressions!" she scolded herself, breaking into a run so she wouldn't be too late.
When Hayzie got there, though, most of the class was seated, books were laid out and by the looks of things an assignment had already been set. Going a tiny bit pink, Hayz nodded to the teacher in a way of silent greeting as to not disturb the class and took a seat behind Melody, as someone was already sitting next to her.
"Hey, I meant to be earlier," she whispered, handing over a piece of parchment, with an underlined title of "Pranks" under the desk. Luckily, they were sitting behind someone and so it wouldn't have been spotted easily. Keeping her voice at a whisper, she asked: "What are we supposed to be doing?"
ooc: Mel, will PM you with what's on the sheet ;D

Mel smiled and turned around to face hayzie. "If you were a minute earlyer you would have know but i shall tell you anyways. We are searching through the text book looking for 2 spells we think we can handle and practice them. Then when we are done that we go up to the front and tell her our name as well as show her the spells. She would also like to know something about us, if we are willing to tell her." mel turned around again and then opened her book and started searching writeing down a few things on her parchment as she went along.....

A spell the professor thought they could handle? Well... it seemed an easy enough task, and didn't involve much writing. Pulling out a roll of parchment, and scrunching up her nose at the sight of the thick textbook, Hayzie turned to the page about charms, curses and hexes, and ran her finger down them, picking out ones she knew.
The locking spell had always been one of her favourites. A few weeks before, Laura had blown a hole in their dormitory door in order to enter a door she had locked. Okay, the top secret everlasting charm had been placed on it, too, but there was no need for anyone to know about that. Rictupsempra was another one she knew, and was last used in the Graveyard on Kelly... even if it did go wrong.
An overwhelming sense of guilt filled her, one which wasn't disguised very well as she continued to look down the list. Wingardium Leviosa was simple enough... but perhaps too simple.
This class would be tricky, after all.

Mel Ran her fingers over the many different spells. She knew practicly everysingle one of these spells. In drumstang Her and her friends had a secret place they went and practiced spells there all the time. But now just thinking of her past made her hurt. She finally settled on 2 spells one she wouldn't practice now for it would be to dangerous to do it with severla students beside her she would wait till she was at the front. For it was a summoning charm Just for her Long Sword. It was created a long time ago from her mother. A great spell caster she was. And her other one was going to be A neat Spell. One That puts things Away. She Had just recently masterd that spell and felt proud.
Mel took out her wand And Bounced the tip in mid air, While chanting "Tersus Mundus" And her Parchment rolled up, The left over ink on her quil went back into the ink jar and the text book closed and everything but the text book went back into her bag. "Excelent" Mel said. And Stood up from her chair and walked over to the Teacher's desk. "Hello Ma'am" Mel said politely. "I am Miss Melody Ravine and I am a fourth year Ravenclaw who went to Drumstang for 3 1/2 years before comeing to MH in may." Mel smiled and walked to the center of the front of the room. Mel brought the tip of her wand to th highest point she could bring it up with her left hand. "Voco Espada Zafiro" And as she chanted her summon spell She brought her hand down 4inches from her left side and one of the top windows opened as a long Pure Silver Blade plated with Beutiful saphires came flying in Tossing some papers, and set in the stone just by her left ankle. and then Melody Brought her hand up and layed her wand sideways likeshe was finished her first spell. She smiled At the stairing faces of the other students and began her next spell. She Bounced the tip of her wand and moved it a bit tot the right each time to tidy the whole room. And as she did she chanted. "Tersus Mundus" And the few papers that scattered returned to where they were. A few droped quills went back up onto thier desks. and a few of the boats suffled just a tiny amount in thier places. As well as some other things moved. Then when Mel was done she layed her wand sideways once more to show she was done her second spell. And then walked back up to the teacher So she could recive her grade........

[glow=purple,2,300]Dovie sat, as was told, and listened to the instructions. She was impressed that their new Professor co-wrote and co-authored the book on her desk. She followed the instructions on the board and found two spells that she'd used before and that were very handy. Avis and Point Me should be good enough... Dovie thought as she stood and walked towards the Professor's desk. She'd wait for the Professor to return before preforming the spells and whatnot, though. Ashlle, trying to see if she'd help us..? Dovie was curious, and her eyes were blinking somewhat fast. They did that when she was slightly confused about something...[/glow]

Yeah thought Ashlle back to Doive after all she IS the DAtDA Professor. If she can't help no one will.
"Well" said Ashlle as if she were cradling a bombshell. "From what I hear there is soon to be another takeover of the school. A character By the name of Dawini Dassos or some such nonsense, thinks he is the Next Voldemort and shall soon be trying to kill - people - in the school, Lots of them.” Ashlle knew she was sounding a bit lame, but she really knew every little about the situation.
“The thing is I think we should be ready when he does. I for one am taking extra fighting lessons from Kezaa and Chris but being a first year I’ve had very little wand magic practice. I can only imagine how the other First and Second Years will fair against this menace unless you could possible give us a crash course in defending ourselves. That is If you have time and if any one besides me wants to too.”
Ashlle rolled her eyes as if anyone who didn’t want to was a fool. “At any rate I’m not going to let this guy take my life. I have a destiny to fulfill.”
Finally she turned to Zee. “Hello Zee. I guess I’m ok, for now. And no, I try to avoid the Graveyard when I can. But there have been a few slayings and returns-to-life if you believe the gossip.”

just a note, for the most part, I will post your score at the end of your post with the spell casting, like most other classes. For now, I might post an actual reply, but don't be offended if I don't. I'll try to do what I can. I really am new at this...
Rubens watched as Melody Ravine performed two spells, she noted, that weren't in the textbook. The first was a spell that summoned an impressive and beautiful sword and the second, a spell that straightened the entire room. Rubens nodded at the girl. "Very impressive, Melody. And you attended Durmstang, was it? Now could you describe a situation in which you might use these two spells? They can be seperate, and don't need to be intricate. Just tell me when you might use each of these, and you'll be done."
She then turned back to Ashlle. "Someone's trying to take over the school? Well, I feel informed." She looked away at the wall and thought for a bit before looking back at the girl. "Well, I'm going to have a chat with Claire and the other teachers. I don't see a problem in changing around my lesson plans to accomodate this. Someone's taking over a school?" Rubens shook her head, the very idea disgusting her. "How low can you get?" she muttered under her breath. Composing herself, she looked at Ashlle. "I'll try to arrange extra lessons. Thank you for telling me."

"Your welcome Professor" said Ashlee formally. "I thought of all the Teacher you at least should know the situation seeing as you are the DAtDA teacher."
Ashlle took up her book. "I think I’ll get stared now. But just for the record if you do start extra classes, please put me down as the first Pupil to sign up." with that she opened her book and began to read.

Sylph opened up her book to the relevent pages and wondered why all her lessons lately seemed to be dealing with simple spells like these. Most of them weren't even DADA related. Still, at least she could do lots of them, though she was surprised to see that unforgivable curses were also included on the page. Still, the new professor seemed very capable, and would hopefully be of use against Danawi - if she knew about him. Sylph glanced over to where Ashlle was talking to her in hushed tones. She must be informing the professor about our... situation, Sylph reasoned, noting the expression on the younger girl's face.
I'll try to arrange extra lessons. Thank you for telling me.
Sylph had excellent hearing - very useful, even if her eyesight wasn't the best in the world, her sharp ears made up for it ten-fold. She smiled to herself. Extra lessons.. I'm already learning elemental magic and how to fight, now there's extra lessons in DADA? I'm gonna have my work cut out for me...
Taking out her twelve and a half inch willow and dragon heart-string wand, Sylph idly flicked it whilst intoning Avis!, causing three large eagles almost as large as Dylan to erupt from the end of her wand. A small smile crossed Sylph's face. She hadn't meant to conjure an eagle specifically, but there it was. A nice way to overdo her magic this time, she thought. With another flick of her wand she opened one of the windows so that the birds could escape, watching as they flew majestically away, calling to each other, before disappearing suddenly in a shower of green and gold sparks. Quite pretty, really...
Deciding that she wanted to get this over with, Sylph got up and headed to the Professor's desk, grinning a little at her as she straightened her robes.
"Hi, I'm Sylph O'Dell," she said clearly, the characteristic grin never leaving her face. "And if you want to know a little about me, well, I don't know. You could find out at these extra lessons you're planning I suppose, I am one of those that have decided to fight against Danawi after all, I can use all the instruction I can get." Sylph's green eyes twinkled from behind her purple locks. "Or, if you'd rather, I could say I'm a determined resourceful typical gryffindor with a penchant for haribo sweets and a little too sarcastic for my own good. Whichever you prefer I guess." Sylph paused for a moment, selecting the spells that she wanted to perform.
"Since this is a DADA class," she began, "I think I'll choose a couple of hexes to do... um, is there a volunteer I can do these on?"
