This was the moment the green eyed girl had been waiting for. Charms class was undoubtedly her best subject, and she couldn't wait to see Professor Billyboro again. In fact, she and Hayzie had snuck down to the new classroom the night before to give him a welcome back surprise. However, it was Addie who was surprised. It wasn't Professor B. who was sitting behind the desk when the class entered. Instead, an unfamiliar witch stood up and introduced herself as the new Charms teacher. Adhara was deeply disappointed, however there was no way the playful brunette was going to let all of their hard work go to waste. She obediently sat down and paid attention while the Professor introduced herself as Merry Divine, and explained the lesson for the day. It didn't surprise Addie at all that they were going back to remedial charms; it was to be expected with a new professor. Yet, that didn't meant that she had to be entirely obedient, seeing as how she could lift the entire box of objects wandlessly if she so chose. Instead, the moment after Professor Divine described her expectations, Addie took out her wand and pointed at Hayzie, who was seated next to her. "Wingardium Leviosa," Addie said quietly, as the words caused Hayz to levitate out of her seat by about half a meter. The green eyed girl carefully put her friend back down, grinned innocently at her, and began on the essay that had been assigned for homework. Like Hayz, she took a sugar quill out of her bag along with a bottle of ink, and sucked on the end for a moment as she pondered for a moment. The sweet sugar dissolved in her mouth, and she smiled slightly as she dipped the quill into the ink and began to write. Adhara Naunet Gryffindor House Professor Merry Divine Charms
Wingardium Leviosa, or the levitation charm, is one of the simplest charms taught to schoolchildren. One of the reasons it is one of the first spells taught is the fact that it helps to coordinate wrist movement with the verbal incantation (a skill that is imperative in almost all magic, and charms in particular). Also, last but certainly not least, it is taught because it it has a myriad of different uses.
Most school children use Wingardium Leviosa for basic pranks. One of the most common is placing a knut on the floor, hiding, and then causing the knut to move away when someone stoops to pick it up. Another use of this charm would be to levitate dishes at dinner that are on the opposite end of the table from where you're sitting, so you won't interrupt others' meals and can remain in your place--quite useful since the Great Hall is so crowded that it's difficult to get up and move around in. Personally, I don't often use it for things like that however.
Being a naturally lazy witch, I tend to use Wingardium Leviosa in my dormitory the most. Usually I do it to bring things that I've left on the opposite side of the room over to me. I prefer using this spell to accio because I can do it wandlessly, or, if I've been using a lot of wandless magic lately, I can ground myself in the basics of spell casting again. All in all, this is a spell that is one of the most useful, if one is creative enough to see the benefits of it. The brunette smiled, and blew gently on the parchment to dry the ink. Then, she looked up and glanced around the classroom, giggling slightly as she watched Hayz tickle a Slytherin girl with a feather. She was surprised when the Professor came over and glued Hayzie's feet to the floor. Actually, Addie was a little disappointed in Hayz...it had been pretty obvious as to what was going to happen. Her friend was getting slower in her old age. Thankfully, Hayz had stuck to their plan though, and while Professor Divine was busy with her friend, Addie quietly murmured the spell to set off the time release charm into her sugar quill, making it look to everyone else as if she was simply sucking the end. Wandless magic came in quite handy sometimes. Having nothing else to do for fifteen minutes, Addie glanced around the classroom, and up at Professor Divine's desk in particular, wondering what she and Hayzie were up to. After Hayz sat down a few minutes later, Adhara had taken out a bronze orb from her school bag, and was tapping it every so often with her wand, murmuring spells quietly. She wasn't particularly paying attention to anything, although when she snuck a glance at her watch, she noticed the boy on Hayzie's other side aiming a spell at her friend. What a low joke, she thought to herself. Addie certainly wasn't against pranks, however picking on particular people when they hadn't even done anything (after all, tickling someone with a feather was hardly mean) was not all right in her books. She frowned at the boy, and pointed her wand at Hayzie yet again. "Finite Incantatem." It was almost time. As soon as the thought entered Adhara's head, the complex charms and enchantments she and Hayzie had spent almost the entirety of the previous night on began to take effect. First, the walls of the room began to melt away, and a vast forest made out of candy took their place. However, even though they couldn't be seen, the walls still were there behind the mirage. Next, the desks, books, and all of the other objects that weren't students' posessions became different types of candy. Some were sugar quills, other chocolate frogs...the desks themselves transformed into gigantic marshmallows and candied apples. To top it all off, a chocolate river flowed down under the Professor's desk (which had turned into a candied bridge) and seemed to go right out the door. Finding all of the spells had been rather simple; Hayz and Addie only had needed to tweak the enchantments for the walls from the spells they'd used on the Prefects' bathroom the year before. The spells to put oversized candy in the place of the desks were merely cooking charms. All in all, it was a bit of extremely advanced charmwork, topped off by an everlasting charm and the time release charm, that Adhara was extraordinarily proud of. Edit:OOC: Since we refer so much to the farm prank, here it is, if you can wade through all of the out of character comments that're in it. It explains the technicalities of the spells better than we did in the post here. mgckalhrizn.conforums.com/index.cgi?board=bath&action=display&num=1077384113

Even though Hayzie had helped to cast the numerous charms around the room, the result was still a surprise to the blonde headed girl. Her partner in crime was most definitely back, and with a bang, too, by the looks of things. The numerous chocolate frogs, cotton candy chairs and lolliepops scattered around the room were most definitely a treat to the eye.
"Looks a little better than the farmyard, don't you think?" Hayz whispered to Addie, forcing a look of feigned shock. After all, it was likely the finger would be pointed at her after her little demonstration with the feather earlier on in the class. That was the part that she hadn't realised beforehand. The time release charm should have covered up any tracks Hayz and Addie had left, though... or so she hoped.
And the two girls had put on the everlasting charm, just so nothing could be reversed unless Adhara's wand did the work. Hayzie hadn't dared to put that charm on. After all, it would probably only be a matter of days before she needed a new one again. The Prefect seemed to be getting through wands like Bertie Botts Every Flavoured Beans lately. Then again, who wanted just the one wand to last them their whole life? Variety was good.... expensive, but good.
Glancing around the room, the blonde couldn't hide a small smile at the number of whispers going around, and the looks of shock on some people's faces. Maybe the two hadn't outdone themselves, but they had most definitely made a dent. This was just a warm up. "Does this mean I'll get some sleep without being woken to sneak into classrooms tonight?" Hayzie whispered to Addie, still smiling slightly.

The blonde lycan was not really paying any attention until that moment of the class. Though after seeing a few flying objects passing right before her face, Daniela was thrown back harshly into reality. She blinked a few times, trying to realize what the hell was going around her. Right... levitating. a thought ran across her mind as another feather flew next to her, brushing the blonde on her nose gently. After sighing and stretching up, Daniela finally pulled out her wand and opened the book, revising the incantation to the spell. "... leviosa... right..." the blonde was mumbling to herself as she was reading. Slowly, raising her eyes from the book, and sending another look around, she swished her wand slowly, while reciting the words- "Wingardium Leviosa!" The feather did not even move. Daniela blinked a few times again, and covered herself into the book again, repeating the same paragraph a few more times. The most important element in this particular spell is the wrist movement, commonly referred to as a 'swish and flick' motion. her hand flew up, hitting the green -eyes Gryffindor on her forehead. "Where did my flick go away?" she asked herself, raising the wand again. After practicing the movement three times, and making sure she remembered it, Daniela took a deep breath and tried again- "Wingardium Leviosa!" The feather flew up, and a victory smile rose upon Danni's lips. Next was to finish her homework assignment. The blonde lowered her wand to the desk and pulled out a blank piece of parchment, and her favorite green ink, starting to write. Daniela Turner Gryffindor house
The levitating spell can be quite useful in the daily lives, although it seems just like an ordinary spell. With that simple incantation of two words, you can, for example, get thing that are out of your reach because of height problems.
I, as being a short girl, can have trouble of getting thing I need because there location is to high for me to reach. With that spell, I can either, lower that specific thing I need to me, or levitate myself high enough to get it.
Another use I can think of is protection.
When you are under attack of something, you can levitate things to cover up for you, like rocks and other big things. Alternatively, you could levitate the enemy, which can make him helpless for a couple of minutes, and gives you enough time to escape. From my point of view, the spell is much more useful than it presented, you just need enough charisma to match with it.Hmm, Interesting, I seem to have a lot of short people in my class. Again, a very interesting take on The defense options of this charm. (10 points)

Zee read the note on her sheet. "Oops." She quickly wetted her quill, and began the second paragraph. The ways I would use the levitation charm would include house cleaning, like I mentioned in the paragraph above. I'd also probably use it to, say, send notes in class. Just kidding. Anyways, the most I'd probably use the levitation spell for is just to clean, that is, unless the levitation spell can be used to lift me! Then I'd be levitating myself everywhere! I'd be using it to get out of the common room in the morning when the halls are crowded. I'd just open a window, and slowly levitate down to the ground. I would use it to reach those books that are really high up on the shelves in the library. I'd also probably use it for some alone time. I'd levitate myself up to the top of a tree to just sit, and watch the sunrise, or set, or the stars. The possibilities are endless! Oh, and the questions I have are: Is it possible to use the Levitation charm to lift oneself? And, is there a way to speed up spells, like the Mobilicorpus spell? Very nice! Along with your first paragraph I'd say that's a easy 10 points. As for your Questions 1) I'm pretty sure it is impossible to levitate yourself all though Levitating another seems fairly achievable. 2) I believe you have to take the Mobilicorpus as is, all thought I'm sure there are many other -er- faster spell you could use instead. Where do you want to go so fast that a broom couldn't take you anyway?

"Sorry I'm late Professor,"Jade said running into the room. "I woke up late,"Jade explained while sitting down. I picked up my wand and practiced the swish and a flick motion. "Wingardium Leviosa,"Jade said while the feather rose into the air for about 30 seconds then fell back down. Name:Jade Greenwood HOuse:Slytherin Charms
The Levitation charm has many uses. One use is for carrying large objects across a room. I redue my room all the time, and if I didn't have this charm then I would have to hire other people to do it for me, because I'm to weak to carry any large object. Also when I'm going on vacation, I can use this charm instead of carrying the suitcases up stairs, or any obstacle.
Next, the levitation charm can be used to clean under things or move stuff in. My family gives the house elves a break during spring cleaning, so I have to clean along with my parents. We use this charm to levitate couches, cabinets, boxes, etc. to clean under them. We also do shopping during that time, buy things, and get rid of stuff we don't use. Instead of hiring movers we can use this charm.
In conclusion, this charm can be used to do a lot of things. The levitation charm will be useful for years to come, and many more.Jade walked up to her Professor's desk and laid her essay on the desk, and took her seat. Very good, you put a lot of your own ideas for the charm in your paper, well done! (10 points) but I must ask a question, do the house elves enjoy their time off or do they get sad? I've heard some don't get on well without work to do.

Walking down the halls came the blonde nurse. Kasey hardly ever attended classes any more and when she did the Professor seemed to dissapear. So the Hufflepuff had taken it upon herself to see what was going on these days in the classrooms. Today was different, the blonde felt in a mischevious mood. Today trouble was to be her middle name.
Walking along she soon came to the door that lead to the Charms classroom. Now this could be fun the nurse thought as she quietly opened the door and poked her head in. Looking around she saw the Professor with her back to the door helping another student with their wand work. As she looked around more, her bright blue eyes soon found surprised faces and hushed wispers. This intrigued Kasey, suddenly she spotted it, the walls, the chairs, the teachers desk, they were all made of candy.
The nurse's jaw dropped slightly open as she surveyed the scene before her. Who could have done such a marvelous prank. Searching the classroom, she soon spotted the grinning faces of Adhara and Hayzie. I should have known Kasey thought, a smirk taking its place on her lips. Slipping quietly through the door, Kasey walked over and slipped into the empty seat beside Hayzie and gave the pair a grin that told them she wanted in.

"Yeah, at least it's more interesting than the farmyard...although, I must admit that I probably will never forget the sight of Kelly as a scarecrow..." The brunette snickered quietly at the thought before catching herself. She and Hayz were such good actresses (or, perhaps, so used to causing mayhem) that they'd yet to give anything away. With the time release charm, it was highly unlikely that they could have blame pointed at them. Addie had been seen fooling with her latest experiment, and Hayzie had been right under the Professor's nose.
"I don't know about letting you sleep tonight though," Addie shot her friend an amused glance, "We have a little matter to bring up with Professor Windwaltz, remember? I think tonight would be a perfect time to welcome him to the staff here, don't you think?"
As Kasey slipped in and sat beside them, Addie raised a finger quickly to her lips. At the current, there was no conclusive evidence that they'd had anything to do with the...redecoration...and she felt like keeping it that way for a while. The green eyed girl had carefully schooled her expression into one of surprise and amazement that perfectly matched the others in the room.
"Hey ya Kase. Who ever could've done this? Looks like it took a lot of time and effort to pull off, what d'you think?"

Her face quickly changed to one that fitted the other occupants of the room as Adhara raised a finger to her lips. "Definately" the nurse said nodding her head and looking around "Do you think we could eat it?" she said with a hopeful grin.

"I'd say we can," said Addie as she reached around the back of her cotton candy chair and snagged a handful. The sweet spun sugar melted in her mouth, and she grinned at Kasey. "This is good fun, don't you think?"

Kasey watched as her friend took a handful of cotton candy from the very chair she sat on. Grinning Kasey picked up a pencil, that was now made of chocolate and took a bite "Mmmm yum!" she nodded at Adhara "Lots of fun! This is the coolest class! Maybe I should attened more often" she said taking another bite of the pencil.

Teagan's red eyes stared boredly around the classroom until it began to turn in to Candy Land. This is interesting, she thought as her desk turned to marshmallow. Other things in the room turned into ESS, or enormous-sugary-substances. Now, why can't we do this more often? The people who're sleeping, right now, are missing all of the excitement, she mused. Having arrived later in the school year, she hadn't had a chance to she the wonderful antics of the prefects.
Teagan noticed her books hadn't been transformed, and shoved them under her desk. We can't be having them in Candy Land, now can we? She speedily snatched a chocolate frog hopping by her desk in mid-jump. Teagan had the slight idea of playing with it, but this class was becoming too quiet.
Though she was excited, Teagan's expression was a calm one. "Wingardium Leviosa," she said, her voice coming out as only a breath of air. Teagan's smooth hands lazily held her wand as she carried the frog over to the teacher's desk, and dropped it onto the papers she was grading. Teagan was impatient to see the expression on her teacher's face, though she had nothing to do with the realistic Candy Land.
Teagan's wand was already settled on her desk before anyone had the chance to notice her moving the frog, or doing anything that might seem "unorderly." She lazily spun it around. Her calm demeanor was always helpful, though she was usually one of the more serious kind of student, she needed a break from the school day. Teagan realized that no chocolate pieces with legs were coming to visit her. "Wingardium Leviosa," she whispered and pointed out a certain individual at the side of the room. She thought about using Accio, but she didn't want all of the little creatures coming her way. Teagan began to slowly eat the delicious piece of chocolate.

Well, well, well thought Merry when she saw Adhara enter the classroom. I was sure they had graduated you by now Then once the room began to turn into candy Merry nodded. I thought that was her she murmured and carefully made her way to what used to be her wardrobe.
It now seemed to be made of sugar marzipan but the door still worked and the inside was unchanged. Merry got out some Very tall wadding boots and put them on. Then she hiked up her robes and wadded though the chocolate stream.
"Hello Miss Naunet." she said upon retching Adhara. "Please allow me to express my amazement that you are still taking this class. Have you ever considered simply taking a N.E.W.T. for Charms and have it done with? They will do that you know for-" Merry cleared her throat "-The amazingly bright such as yourself. If you took such a test you'd have more time to take other advanced classes such as -I don't know- Occlomency or what ever you find interesting. Please don't be too shocked. I knew you were who you are the moment you stepped in my class. The students and teachers -er- described you to me in detail. Would you be so kind as to pass a piece of your chair, it looks delicious."

"Of course, Professor," Addie said with a smile as she plucked another handful of the sugary goodness from behind her and floated it out of the palm of her hand over to Merry. She glanced up at the teacher and replied to her previous question, "I was under the impression that this was a N.E.W.T. level class. Although, really, I'm still here because I, as you put it, 'find charms interesting'. They are my forte after all. I've benefitted from other teachers in the past, and I believe that you never know everything. Besides, if you did have to know everything about something at one point, then what would be the use of creativity and curiosity?" She shot the teacher a curious look. "My guardian, Athena, is the head of the Experimental Charms department at the ministry. I've learned most of my advanced work from her." Addie decided that it would be prudent to not mention the fact that she had also learned a few rather dangerous charms that were still undergoing testing from Athena as well. Although, she found that those particular charms especially helped her in playing pranks such as this one. She took a glance around the room again, "Professor Billyboro must have told you about me, I apologize, I thought that he'd still be here this year." A rather silly assumption on her part, she ought to have checked that before going through all the planning a prank like this required. "He had offered me advanced classes last year, but we never did follow through on them. Oh, here's my essay," She handed the Professor the piece of parchment lying on the marshmallow in front of her. Merry Sighed and looked rather down hearted. "You are the second person I've met that I've ousted from the Charms Position. If the two of you are so very set on being Professors I shall of course see if I can get into Hogwarts as a Professor earlier than I had planed. I don't like to cause arguments within the school."
Merry then munched on the fluffy piece of chair hopping it wouldn't turn back to splinters in her stomach.
"Well" she said looking over to Hayzie. "You just might want to invite Miss Naunet to our little -er- The thing you wanted me to keep secret" she whispered to Hayzie. "I do believe you'd both benefit very much from it. Thank you for your time. I - Nono! Don't eat the box! I need it from my next class!" and she rushed back across the chocolate stream to the back of the room where some Chubby Slytherin boys were eating Merry's box of soft items. It had turned into gingerbread.

The green eyed grin frowned slightly and lifted an eyebrow at her professor. She had just started to say "But Professor Divine, I never applied..." when the teacher suddenly hurried off to rescue her box of light objects. Addie looked supremely puzzled for a moment before turning to Hayzie.
"What in the world is she talking about? I can't apply for Charms professor, I'm still a student." She remembered the teacher's other words and shot Hayz a suspicious look, "What little thing that you wanted to keep secret?"
Adhara poked her friend, "Do tell."
