Aidana walked into the Quiditch Pitch wearing her emerald green flying robes and her broom in one hand. She looked around impatiently.
Of course, late again. He probably forgot. Typical Aylen. She began looking around again irritably for her twin brother Aylen. He was supposed to bring their hawk Mercury. Who knew when was the last time he stretched his wings. Aidana realized that Aylen would take forever to show up, so she slumped down on the grass and began impatiently waiting for him.

A Grayish blue bird swooped down and playfully landed on Aidana's head. "Gwawk!" He said happily. He had been waiting forever for a certain someone to fly with him. Obviously, he forgot. But he finally came! Just then, a reddish haired boy, who looked strangely like Aidana, ran, tripped, somersaulted, and landed on his butt. "Hey sis," he said from the ground. He grinned.

Aidana was waiting impatiently for her brother, when a gray blue bundle of feathers just decided to swoop down on her head. She scowled and swatted the bird away. It was her mortal enemy, Mercury, her brother's hawk.
" Get away from me you useless bird!" Aidana said playfully. " You know I'm going to beat you in a race!" Many people would find it strange to walk upon that scene and see a auburn haired, emerald eyed girl talking to a hawk. Well, Mercury understood things, even if he was evil. Then Aidana felt someone fall. She turned to see her brother flat on his back. He was grinning. Aidana couldn't help smiling, her brother couldn't keep her in a bad mood for long. She stood up holding her broom.
" You're late," she accused her brother, waiting for an explination.

"Oh really?" he asked. "I humbly offer my most sincere apologies to the queen of the universe." Then he scrambled out of the way of the smack that he knew was coming. "Anyway, I was finishing homework." Of course, anyone who knew Aylen knew that he never did homework until the last second. Mercury launched himself off of Aidana's head and glided in circles around them, impatient to fly.

Hiya guys!" Sylph waved cheerily as she made her way across the quiddich pitch to join the twins. There was something different about her today - something very different. Her hair was purple. Bright purple. She had dyed it that morning in a fit of pique, being thoroughly bored to tears with her yard-stick straight perfectly black locks. She felt good about it - she thought the bright tresses suited her, they made her eyes stand out more, too. She only hadn't done it before because at home her parent's would have had a fit. Here, they didn't have to know a thing.
"So," she said grinning madly, daring them to comment, "what'da'ya think?"

"Hey Syl-" Aylen began, but when he turned to see Sylph, he cut himself off.
"So," she said. "what'da'ya think?"
Aylen blinked several times. "Um...they suit you?" he stuttered. He soon got over his surprise however. "You have a dimmier switch on that?" He asked cheekily.

Sylph put her hands on her hips, her head on one side and stared at him through narrowed eyes for a moment. Then she shrugged.
"I could make it a bit darker I suppose," she said, pulling out her wand and waving it over her head, giving herself a sharp rap on her crown. Immediately her hair changed one or two shades darker.
"Better?" she asked, her hands spread in a questioning gesture. Then she looked at the twins. They were both dressed in flying robes, and Aylens marlin, Mercury, was soaring around their heads. "Quiddich practice?" she inquired.

Aidana glared at Aylen's "queen of the world" comment and was about to smack him over the head. Aylen, used to Aidana by now, quickly scrambled out of the way before she could hit him. She was distracted momentarily by Sylph's entrance. Her hair was purple. Bright purple. She smiled and was about to say how great it looked when Aylen made a cheeky comment. Sylph looked at him through narrow eyes but changed the shade anyway, and Aidana knew this was the time to act. She raised her hand and smacked Aylen on top of the head.
" That was for the queen of the world comment and this," Aidana smacked him hard again," is for making fun of Sylph's hair." Aidana turned to Sylph.
" I think your hair looks wonderful," said Aidana throwing Aylen a look. " It brings out your eyes. No, not Quidditch practice. We're racing. Want to join us?"

Sylph's green eyes opened wide.
"How come you two get to have your own racing brooms?" she asked. "My parents told me I wasn't allowed one in first year."
Sylph was a little older than most first years at 16, but had not recieved the MH letter until her 16th birthday for some reason, even though she showed magical promise. She had shrugged this off as a mistake. It didn't really matter - there were other first years older than the normal age, and her mother had taught her most of the basic stuff beforehand. But in first year she remained, and that meant not being allowed to buy and bring with her a racing broom. Not that she had ever done much flying.
"My dad's a muggle though" she explained to them. "Got me interested in muggle sports instead, but what I've seen of flying looks really cool. Would you teach me to fly?"

""They're not our own. We borrowed the school's, though we do have our own brooms at home," Aylen said rubbing his head gingerly. "They still work pretty well." He got up and brushed himself off. "Anyway, I was just kidding about your hair. It does look better now, though."
"What's so interesting about Muggle sports? They can't even fly or nothing," Aylen commented, scratching his head.

Sylph smiled a small smile. That was the trouble with pure-blood families, ones that had never been exposed to the muggle ways of life. They didn't understand. There were great merits in both magical and muggle paths, and Sylph felt priviledged to have been a part of both for all of her life. It also meant that she was never at a disadvantage when dealing with either people.
"Ever since I was small," she explained, "my dad, being the sport-nut that he is, taught me all about different muggle sports, y'know, football, cricket, tennis... stuff like that. My favorite is rugby - union that is; league's an awful game. It's just so..." Sylph thought for a moment before choosing her words. "Violent. And skilled. It requires hell of a lot of teamwork, too. Each player has differerent skills, but they all need to function as one unit. Bit like quiddich really.
"My mam did try to get me into quiddich, but seeing as how I lived in a muggle area, I could never play. Looks like it'd be a lot of fun though. I know the rules and positions and stuff. If you'd teach me to fly I'd be really grateful."

"Sure,we'd be glad to teach you!" Aylen said. Mercury was growing impatient. When were these stupid humans going to get going? He squawked grumpily. He lnded on Ayln's ead and settld himself. Obviously, they were going to be dwadling for a while. (Aragh! The "e" key osn't work half th tim. The "d" key doesn't either! The text in the parnthases were not correctd)

Aidana was confused when Sylph said she loved muggle sports. That didn't make sense. There was nothing exciting about them. Like Aylen said, you couldn't even fly! At least Aylen said he was going to teach Sylph to fly.
" We'd love to teach you Sylph! I just think you'd learn fom someone faster and better on the broom than some people I could mention," Aidana said looking pointedly at her brother.

Makira strode out onto the Quidditch Pitch, Bolt by her side and Powder, her snowy owl, perched on her shoulder. She was wearing Quidditch-like robes that she and her Mum made at home: they just happened to be scarlet and gold. She also had her Firebolt in hand, a gift from her dad. Her dark brown hair was nice today, not nearly as messy as usual, and her eyes were warm and happy; they also glinted with excitement: this was the first time she was going to fly... with friends.
Makira was just humming a tune from one of her many favorite songs, when she noticed she was not alone, "Hey, guys! Miss Sylph, Miss Aidana, Mr. Aylen! How're you all today?" she called out happily, waving, her dark hair swishing side to side with each stride, her amber-speckled, brown eyes glinting with excitement and happiness.

"Now hold on," Aylen said. "I...uh...I CAN FLY BETTER!!!" Aylen said stupidly, for a lack of a witty response. "Sheesh, was Sylph asking you? No, she was talking to me, right Sylph?" The time-old arguing strategy, drag someone else into it.
Then he heard a familiar voice. "Hey, guys! Miss Sylph, Miss Aidana, Mr. Aylen! How're you all today?" "Mr. Aylen?" Aylen asked. "I don't remember getting something tacked to my name..." He grinned "Hi Makira. Please don't call me 'Mr'. It makes me think I'm in trouble."
