Loki was once more exploring the school on his own, wandering the halls trying to get a feel for the place. He happened upon a door that was slightly ajar. Sticking his head in he found it to be very large, and even better, empty. He pulled his head out to examine the sign on the door. Dance Hall. That explained its size, anyway. Back in Durmstrang they'd never had anything like a dance hall. He stepped lightly inside, his hands deep in the pockets of his full length black coat.
After having briefly explored the room, Loki took a seat on a spare chair next to the stage and stared up at the high ceiling. There were still streamers left from whatever party had been held last time. His lips quirked into a small smile. Putting his hands behind his head and leaning further back, he contemplated his change of schools, his threatened expulsion from Durmstrang, the disappointment of his father, his mother's high pitched crying sounds when she got the news... their anger at him...
Loki, for reasons unknown to him, suddenly recalled a muggle song he had heard a couple of times. It seemed to sum up his mood. He began to sing very softly in his low smooth voice.
All this frustration I can't meet all my desires Strange conversation Self control has just expired All an illusion Only in my head you don't exist Who are you foolin' Don't need a shrink but an exorcist
Lalalalala lalalalala lalalalala lalalalala
Show me the movie of who you are and where you're from Born of frustration Caught upon the webs you spun Where's the confusion A vision of what life is like Show the movie that doens't deal in black and white
He paused, quirking his lips again in irony before continuing. This song was definitly for him.
Talk talk talkin 'bout who's to blame But all that counts in how to change Stop stop talkin 'bout who's to blame When all that counts in how to change...

Lily was out today, walking around the school for once. She'd been silently drifting through the hallways in bare feet and halted when she neared some wide doors. She heard singing come from within, and looked at the plaque on the front of the left door. "Dance Hall," she whispered only for herself to hear. She listened intently to the quiet words being sung by someone who was male and pressed her ear hard against the door. "Show me the movie of who you are and where you're from Born of frustration Caught up on the webs you spun Where's the confusion A vision of what life is like Show the movie that doesn't deal in black and white..."
That verse got to her somehow. It just seemed...fitting, of her life. She wavered on whether or not to enter, her bare feet making sticky sounds as she walked back and forth in front of the doors. She'd look at the doors and touch the, then pull back and bite on her thumb, then touch them again. She was thinking heavily on just moving along, but that verse echoed in her mind. She had to know the song, who it was by... Her curiousity got the better of her, and she stepped quietly inside. Lily played with the spikey ends of her updo and trodded over, her super wide-legged jeans making a low shushing-type sound.
"Excuse me, I...hope I'm not bothering.." Lily took in a breath and, shaking her head, collected her words a bit better. "I mean...I'm sorry, but...what was that song you were singing? I..was out wandering around" Lily turned and pointed to the door with her left thumb, her bangles jungling with the slight movement. "...And I heard you singing... What were you s-singing?" Lily gave the guy look of innocent curiosity and unwittingly played with the pink tips of her hair. #nosmileys#nosmileys

Loki looked up as a fairly small girl with vivid hair slid in through the doors of the hall, breaking off his brooding singing in slight suprise. He got to his feet, his green-flecked blue eyes smiling warmly.
"Born of Frustration," he replied in a friendly manner, noticing her slight unease. "By a muggle band called James, I believe. And don't worry about disturbing me, curiosity is a great thing." He smiled a slow smile as he said this. His voice was soft and low, just as his singing had been, but there was a somewhat cultured polite tone to it.
"I'm Loki, by the way," he told her. "I'm kinda new to this school. May I ask your name?"

Lily's bright aqua eyes twinkled and she let a huge grin slip; she was very relieved. "I'll definitely have to look that song up sometime." she paused momentarily as he spoke again. "Loki...Pleasure. Love the name! I'm Lily," Lily placed her right hand in front of her for a shake. "Lily Midnight, or Lil, whatever suits you best." Lily was doing a great job of covering up her Irish accent and keeping it to a more understandable English one. Easy for her, having grown up in both places. "I'm brand new here myself, matter of fact, so don't feel left out." Lil smirked coolly at the boy, glad he hadn't been harsh with her like some others had been.#nosmileys#nosmileys

Loki was relieved to see the girl - Lily, he reminded himself - visibly become more confident. He knew that girls often got rather breathless around him, though he wasn't quite sure why. He pushed his long blonde hair from his face, something he did habitually. For a brief moment this revealed his handsome features, but then the hair fell back into place, obscuring one eye slightly.
He felt the corners of his mouth twitch when she mentioned his name - why did everybody here keep complimenting him on it? - and again when she said that she was also new.
"A pleasure to meet you, Lily Midnight," he said in his smooth tones as he took her hand to shake. "How long have you been at this school then? I'm still trying to find my way around."

Lily smiled as she shook his hand. "Late March, but..I don't really leave my dorm much. I know, I know...I should get out more, but honestly..." Lil paused for a moment. "I don't know, people usually seem to busy here, so I keep to myself and read most of the time." Lily tilted her head to the side thoughtfully. "I'm usually out more at night, or just random intervals during the day. I wish I could help with showing you around, but..." Lil tilted her head again. "I honestly wouldn't know where to find anything either, heh..." Lily laughed slightly at her own lack of knowledge about the school and smiled back at Loki.

Loki smiled indulgently.
"That's alright, in fact, on my first morning - was it only yesterday?" He quirked his lips into a small smile. "- a girl from the Entrance Hall invited to show me the grounds and the local village, Hogsmeade, is it called? You're very welcome to join us." He paused, examining the girl in front of his discretely.
"So which house are you in then, if you spend so much time there?"

Lily chuckled happily at his calm, yet intruiging, manner. "Thanks for the invite... I kind of prefer discovering places on my own, but I might meet up with ya there." Lily shrugged nonchalantly before continuing on. "Though, I wouldn't want to overimpose on the kind-hearted girl who is willing to take the time to show you around." Lily smiled and paused for a moment as he spoke again. "I'm in Slytherin, actually. Honestly can't figure out why, though... I would hope I'm not as cold as the rest of them seem to be..." Lily had a somewhat perplexed look on her face, her aqua eyes staring unseeing at the ground and her brow furrowed. She shook it off and looked back up at Loki, putting a friendly smile on her face. "What about you? What House are you in?"

At her question Loki looked down and rubbed the back of his neck before answering.
"Ravenclaw," he answered. Loki had always been a little embarrassed by his superior intellegence, it tended to alienate him from more normal people, but he would never try to dumb himself down. He didn't like the lie it implied. He changed tack and looked at her interestedly.
"Slytherin, huh?" he asked her. "Didn't have you pegged as one, but then, I'm not too clear on the houses here yet." He suppressed an amused snort. Most of his old school would have fitted in perfectly in Slytherin, and this Lily was no Durmstrang student.

Lily gave a short laugh. "Yeah, like I said, even I can't figure out how I got put in there." She gave a wide smile. "Ravenclaw is a nice House. My sister, who should honestly be in Slytherin instead of me, was sorted into there... Maybe the Hat got us confused...?" Lily widened her eyes comically, but returned them to normal size and chuckled a little. "Hey, maybe it really did..." Lil stopped to ponder for a moment. "Ah well, I'll just talk to someone higher up and see if I can be sorted again." she gave a slight shrug, the bangles on her wrist jingling just slightly, and played with the pink part of her hair. She scrunched up her face and tilted her head to the side, pulling on the ends as if she were disgusted with it. "Maybe it's my hair." Lil said in a nasally voice before chuckling again and letting her arm drop. Her bracelets jingled loudly this time, and Lily grabbed at them immediately to stop the sound from echoing too much. She looked around the ceiling, a smirk playing at the corners of her lips as she shifted on her feet. "Sorry, I'm a bit of a klutz sometimes." She rolled her eyes (not sarcastically, but more like "whoops!") and kept her hand on her bracelets so they wouldn't jingle anymore.

Loki raised an eyebrow, not that Lily could see it, it being hidden under his hair and all.
"You have a sister?" he asked. "What's her name, sounds like I should watch out for her, if she's as Slytherin-like as you say she is." He smiled jokingly before continuing. "And don't worry about the bracelets, it's kind of a nice sound, though people can always tell when you're coming." He raised his eyebrow again, though this time to himself.
"Is that a good or a bad thing?" he mused. Then, still in his soft low voice, spoke to Lily again.
"Would you have prefered Ravenclaw then?" he inquired politely. "What house were the rest of you family in?"

Lily chuckled again; she was in a very good mood today for some reason. "Ah, that's the thing... Yes, I would have much preferred Ravenclaw. I was always the one studying in the house, reading ahead in textbooks; I even skipped a few grades when I was younger. I'm kind of...the black sheep, if you will. Every single member of my family has been in Slytherin, except for my sister. She and I are in our opposite Houses, oddly enough..." Lily stared at the floor for a moment, squinting and unsquinting her eyes as she thought to herself. "A cousin of mine, disowned from the rest of the family - which I never agreed with - is in Gryffindor, just like the rest of her half of the family." Lily stopped to think on her name for a moment; it had been ages since the split of the Midnight family from her cousin's... "Dovie, Dovie Bell. She's my cousin in Gryffindor. Can't believe I remember her name. As for my sister, well..watch out. Her name's Alex. You'll recognize her by her over-the-top manner of dress and her freakishly hazel eyes. Easy to spot, that one is...." Lil had continued staring at the floor the whole time, but looked up at Loki now and gave an apology. "Sorry, I..have a bad habit of rambling..." Lil fingered her bracelets and wondered how Dovie was doing.#nosmileys

Loki looked hard at Lily, obscuring his stare with his hair. After a moment, he stopping, and brushed his hair from his face again.
"Midnight?" he said, frowning. "Wait, I think I've heard of your family. My family are purebloods too," he explained quickly. "Nessan, my last name is." He knew that any 'respectable' pureblood family would have ties with his in some way or another. The Nessans were very wealthy and very respected by what Loki considered to be overly-zealous purebloods, the Midnights included.
"I'll have to avoid that one then," he said, referring to the girl named Alex. "He shot Lily a friendly smile. "And don't worry, you weren't rambling."

Lily gave a faint smile as she came out of her daze. "A true blue Nessan, eh?" she joked. "Maybe I should be watching out for you then, huh?" She stuck out her tongue slightly, not meaning any disrespect but just being playful. "Mum always goes on and on about how wonderful the Nessan Family is... I think she's friends with some of the women. Well, as much "friends" as Purebloods can be, if ya know what I mean." Lily pulled herself up to sit on the edge of one of the tables, kicking her feet slightly as she did so. Sure, she was twenty, but she was way short; a meager 5'3" to be exact. She jerked her head slightly to flick a few short strands of pink-and-blonde hair out of her face and settled into a comfortable position. "So what's it like, being in Ravenclaw? Or being a Nessan, whichever you would prefer to talk about more..." Lil clasped her hands in her lap and crossed her legs as she began to gently swing them back and forth. Her wide jeans swayed soundlessly, and thank god she'd clasped her hands so there wouldn't be more jingling from her.#nosmileys

Loki grinned.
"Let's stick with the Ravenclaw thing, shall we?" he said lightly. "I am not particularly in the mood to gripe about my family. They see me as a bit of a disappointment, after dropping out of Durmstrang and all -"
He broke off. He hadn't meant to let that information slip.
