Lily noticed Loki cut himself off when he mentioned..dropping out of Drumstrang. "Hey, sometimes family approval..isn't the best thing in the world." Lily slightly raised her eyebrow in a "trust me" way. She looked slightly to the side before speaking. "I would have probably done the exact same thing, to be honest. And I know I've only known you for a few minutes, but if I may speak freely... You don't seem the Drumstrang type. You seem too nice for that." Lil glanced back over, noticing Loki was a bit tensed up. "I'm sorry...I-I'm v-very sorry...I shouldn't have brought the topic up, I'm sorry. Bad choice on my part." Lily cringed and mentally scorned herself. *I can't believe it, I'm always making a mess out of things. Sheesh, what's wrong with my luck?* Lil sighed and moved her hands back to her side, hunching over a bit so her shoulders were up by her face. She moved her right hand for only a moment to get a better grip and lost her balance. She tumbled off the table and fell to the floor with a loud ring of jingling sounds and a subsequent thud. She quickly stood up and brushed herself off, ignoring the pounding in her head. "I'm alright, I'm fine.." She took in a few quick breaths and spoke halfway to herself, a bright red tint apparent on her cheeks. "I'll probably be safer this way..." she stated as she seated herself on the floor, cross-legged, and lowered her head to stare at the floor. *Just my luck...!*

Loki smiled gratefully at Lil at her comment about approval. If anyone else knew about it, she did. He was about to say so when she toppled from her position on the table. He made as if to help her up, but she did it herself before he could do so, seating herself instead on the floor. He did the same, sitting facing her but off to one side.
"You sure you're alright?" he inquired, his face concerned. "I can sort out headaches if you've got one - at least Durmstrang was useful for teaching me well." He paused. He had not meant to let out where he was from so soon, but Lil it seemed was in a very similar boat to himself, so it didn't seem to matter too much.
"You're right though," he went on, "I am too nice for my family. Well, maybe 'nice' is the wrong word. Compassionate to those less fortunate perhaps." He quirked a corner of his mouth. "Or something like that..."

Lil smiled, greatful he wasn't laughing at her. "Ja ne, I'm fine." Lil lied. Her head was spinning from falling like that, one of the downfalls of being so short, but she wouldn't let on. She didn't want to ask for help from someone she just met. She wasn't being snobby about it, she just didn't want to burden anyone. Lily chuckled a bit, sending her head reeling, when he corrected himself on his explanation. "I hear ya." Lily nodded, again feeling as if the room was slightly spinning. She stopped moving her head altogether, and turned herself completely towards Loki so she wouldn't have to move at all. she fingered her bracelets as she spoke. "I'm much the same way. I despised my entire family when they turned their backs on my cousin, but...I had to go along with it, y'know? Not that she's less fortunate, not in the least. Exactly the opposite, actually. But I understand, and it's refreshing to meet someone that's similar." Lil smiled over at Loki and matched his slight smirk with one of her own.

"I know exactly what you mean," he replied, once again pushing his unruly hair from his face, allowing a brief glimpse of his sea-coloured eyes. "So what did your cousin do to be shoved out like that? It's never actually happened in our family... yet. I might be the first." His expression was odd as he said this, crossed between hopeful and regretful. It was a strange mix, but sat fairly comfortable on his features, as if it belonged there.
OOC: i gotta go now... continue this tomorrow. Nice to meet you!

Lily sighed and brushed her bangs away from the left side of her face. "She didn't do anything, actually. Her father, my uncle, was a horrible person, as are many people in my family, even if I hate to admit it. He was abusive towards her mother, very cruel. I won't say everything he did, I don't feel it's my right. Dovie's mother got fed up with it after about nine years and got a divorce. The Midnights, being as stuck-up as they are sometimes, decided to disown that whole branch of the Family Tree... just because one of their precious children was "tainted" by a divorce." Lily slowly shook her head back and forth, the room moving only slightly this time. "I feel like she's the only family that ever really understood me. I haven't contacted her here yet, but I'm certainly planning on it." Lily added as an afterthought. She smiled over at Loki and nodded her understanding. "I wonder if I'd ever be outcast..." A similar expression that sat on Loki's face crossed hers for a moment, and she wondered. She was almost...hopeful to be cast out of her family. Then maybe, just maybe, she could be free to study and be smart for once...

Loki frowned hard as Lily recounted her families actions. His family were bad, but not that bad. they would never disown anyone because of a divorce... well, maybe the person that wanted to divorce one of their own, but not any children associated with them.
"I'd go look up this cousin of yours," he suggested. "Sounds like it'd be a good idea, especially if she's in Gryffindor, you could use an extra body against your sister, right?" He smiled his slow smile. "Do you remember what the hat said when it sorted you? Might help deciding where you really belong."

OOC: Sorry, I'm in the central time zone in the US, so that's why I don't get to post much ^^"
Lily gave a quirky little smirk. She already knew that Dovie strongly disliked Alex; she had for quite some time. Actually, she had since they were just all toddlers. Dovie was 2, Alex was 5, and Lily was 4. "If I remember correctly, Dovie hasn't liked Alex much at all since she was two years old...all because she'd mistreat Dovie's friends when we'd go over to visit." Lil's vision went off into the distance, her smirk plastered on her face. "And boy, did Dovie ever show her not to mess with the Bell family." Lil chuckled and shook her head; yes, she remembered that chaotic fight when Dovie was 8, as well. The one where she shot a green beam of energy at Alex; the one where she scared Alex half to death. Lily sighed, coming back to reality. "I wouldn't doubt if poor Dove's already had a run-in with Allie; she always wanted revenge..." Lil paused, placing her forehead between her index finger and thumb to think. "I'll probably send and owl post to her tomorrow. I just hope she knows I don't hate her." Lily shook her head, making her bangs fall in her face to hid the few tears that had gathered at the edge of her left eye. She knew the lies Dovie would have been told by the rest of the Midnight Family, and how badly it must have hurt her for them to say that she hated Dove. Lil sighed and looked out thw window. "The hat...I hardly remember what it said. I'm sure it confused me with my sister, though. Though it might have put me into Slytherin because I'm more of a loner, whereas Alex is more...well...more into "being around" people, I guess." Lil shrugged her shoulders, her palms flat on the floor behind her, and looked from the window to Loki. "Guess I'm stuck, eh?" Lil cocked a playful eyebrow, hoping for a subject change.#nosmileys

Loki noticed the tone in Lily's voice, the one that said, 'I don't want to talk about this anymore'. He knew that it was often in his own voice, so he obliged.
"So," he said, groping his mind for a subject. "I know you haven't been here very long, but have you been to any lessons yet?" He let his mouth play into a small smirk. "I just want to know if it's worth me turning up. I have, er, problems with attendance."

Lil grinned to herself; this guy was really nice, but she felt horrible for just spewing out almost everything about herself like that. "Actually..I haven't been to a single class, but I hope to change that when the new teachers get here." The corner of her mouth twitched as a smile tried to make its way onto her mouth. "I, uh, have the same problems as well, I guess..." Lily was trying very hard not to laugh at herself, but she was able to contain it. "What are your favorite subjects anyway? If you were to attend classes, I mean..." Lil wiped a small spot clean on the floor and laid down, her arms across her stomach, and stared quietly at the ceiling.

Loki watched amused as Lily laughed at herself - or was it at him? - and lay out on the floor as if stargazing, though all that lay above them wer dusty rafters and the remains of some decorations left over from whatever event had been here last.
"I was good at most things," he replied, flicking his long hair from his eyes once more. "Defence of the Dark Arts particularly, if that's what you call it here. In Durmstrang we were actually taught some of the dark arts... I won't go into it, I didn't enjoy them very much, though they do come in useful, it is true. Apart from that I like Care of Magical Creatures, though we didn't do a lot of that at Durmstrang either." He sighed, dredging up the memories that had led him to this school. He pushed them back down again, though, and smiled his slow smile at the girl on the floor in front of him.
"What about you?"

Lil smirked, watching the streamers move silently at the height of the ceiling as if there was a gentle breeze way up there. "Hmm, well..I love Care of Magical Creatures as well, and I usually enjoy DADA when there's more than one lesson to do, Herbology, Arithmancy and...what else. Oh, duh! Astrology, my favorite thing because I love staring at the night sky, being the complete and total dweeb I am." Lily chuckled to herself, remembering how she used to always be found carrying several thick books around about Astrology. Wait.....hadn't she just been seen doing the same thing a few days ago in the library? Lily sighed and shook her head, smiling quietly to herself. "But Care of Magical Creatures, eh? I'm surprised a bit, most people despise dealing with some of the creatures you run into during that class." *like blast-ended screwts* Lil smiled amusedly to herself. She'd seen one of her friends sit on one once, and she couldn't sit on anything properly for a week.#nosmileys

Loki shrugged, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
"Well, when it came to me, I tended to take Care of Magical Creatures as an extra-curricular activity," he smiled. "Which, incidentally, didn't go down too well in the end." He looked at Lily kindly.
"I'm also fairly fond of the heavens," he said softly. "In fact, I was up in the astronomy tower last night, doing just that." He smiled faintly. "Staring at the night sky, I mean. I find it helps me get things in perspective. Much like this conversation."
He murmered this last part, almost to himself. He meant it too. He had reveled something that he had not meant to tell so soon, but he felt better for it. He also felt that he may have made a friend, which was even better.

Lily chuckled, a grin on her face as Loki spoke. She liked this guy, he was sensible and kind at the same time. "My friends all call it "spacing," or something to that extent..." Lil had raised her arms up and made air quotes with her hands as she quoted her friends, her bangles clanking together in a delicate melody. "But I get the feeling there's a story behind CoMC (care of magical creatures) being an "extra-curricular" activity...?" Lil raised a slightly humored eyebrow, wondering what that smile of his was hiding. "Or dare I ask?" Lil asked with humor in her voice and her eyes as she placed her hands back down on her stomach, her bracelets jingling as she moved to cross her legs and quietly hum a song from a band she'd seen preform once when she visited her cousin.OOC: www.sixhungsprung.com/index2.htm "Ignorance of Youth" if anyone cares to take a listen :p#nosmileys

OOC: argh, my soundcard's busted! I can't listen! IC: "I suggest you do not," Loki replied, both humour and a warning lacing his soft voice. A slight smile was on his lips, and his left eyebrow was raised. Kind and secretive all at once. "Though I expect if you ask me enough, annoy me enough, I shall divulge the answers you seek." OOC: sorry, v short, but I need to go back to work

OOC: Ah well, ::shrug:: it's all cool :p
bic: Lily giggled happily at his wording of things, but took heed of the warning. "I may just have to do that. Hmm....tickle torture?" Lily pretended to think on it, her eyes lighting up as she spoke. "Nah...something...hmm.." Lily gave a huge smile, not really meaning what she said though. Nah, she'd let him say things in his own good time, but it didn't hurt to fake thinking of which method to use, right?
OOC: I've gtg too, I have to fix dinner tonight.. *sighs and slinks off downstairs to start cooking* Take Care and have fun! ...If...that's actually possible at work, lol :p j/p
Take Care, man! Peace! :P
