A heavy silence filled the room after Claire's outburst. Rose exchanged a surprised glance at Orca, who looked equally shocked. The long silence seemed to be poignant to Kiki and Claire, as both of them were sat there with strange expressions on their faces, both of them looking angrily at each other. Once again, Rose felt overlooked.
"Er... OK..." she breathed into the silence, flicking back a stray lock of curly hair that had fallen into her eyes as she watched the silent exchange of glares between Claire and Kiki. "So... now I know what I wanted to know. Thanks."
Fully realising that the situation must be quite severe for everyone to be reaching such enormous levels of stress, Rose gathered up some kind of selflessness to thank them, and discuss quietly what would happen next. It looked as though the other two girls would need a mediator anyhow.
"Right. So... Claire, you said something about me becoming a student? Like, learning magic and stuff?" Rose's large hazel eyes were full of curiosity as she looked at the blonde girl.

Claire stared down into Rose's large eyes. Her heart pulled as she saw the curiosity and childishness that showed on her face.
"Yes, if that would be OK with you. We can place you in a house where you can make friends and go to classes to learn the magic that you seem to have forgotten." Claire explained. "You can start whenever you like; now if you feel ready to."
"I'm not quite sure what we can do about you, though. I mean teaching you about your life, who you are." Claire picked up her wand, her hands twiddling it between her fingers. "I can give you 'lessons' about you and what you have done over the years. It is up to you; we can do whatever you like or want," Claire smiled.

The lupine boy had backed up at Claire's sudden outburst, sea-green eyes wide. Now, in the slight silence after she had spoken again, the boy spoke up.
"Miss Rose? Ah... Well... I know it's not much, and I know you really have no reason to trust me, but... if you would allow me to, I can stay by your side during all this. You may need... protection."
A disturbing fact, though true, as it was certainly possible that not all students attending Magic Horizons were as dedicated to their Headmistresses as he. There could be some out there that might want to hurt one of them, and Orca did not want that to happen.
"Please, Miss, it's the least I can do for you, after all you've done for me."

Rose's earlier nerves came back as soon as Orca mentioned her needing protection. She looked over at Claire, half-hoping she would interject with a 'oh, of course she doesn't need protecting...' - but alas, Claire only looked back at her stolidly.
"Erm... well, I still don't really know what's going on," Rose said nervously, twirling a strand of her long hair around her finger. "But, if you think it is a good idea then I guess you could do that. I mean, I'm going to need people around me all the time to help me learn stuff anyway, right? I mean, well, if I was a Headmistress I must have known loads... I'll need to learn it all again."
She shook her head; it was buzzing slightly with the pressure she was now feeling. She had to become everything she was before to save the school... something like that, anyway. It was a lot to handle.
"Maybe... maybe I should go to bed," said Rose in a small, tired voice. "Maybe sleep for a while, and then... start everything in the morning?"
She looked over at Claire for confirmation.

Claire looked at Rose, admiring her responsible attitude to the situation. So much had happened to change her life, but she was taking it in and dealing with it. Her heart pulled for what seemed the millionth time in the past hour or so. She loved this girl and felt it deep within her.
Smiling she replied to Rose, "Maybe you should sleep. I will charm the room to make it the safest place in the world! I don't think you are in anymore danger, but we had better be safe, if not for you but for me and the school!"
"We can start with everything again tomorrow. Get you and everyone up to speed with this whole thing."
Claire faked a yawn, but knew that she would not be sleeping tonight. She would be alone in their bedroom trying to figure out ways to make the best of this bad situation.
"So, shall I show you to your room, Rose?"

Kage had not been able to fight down the sense of dread, deep down in his gut, as he had suddenly felt a prescence of a Valkerie in the Castle.
Fast as he could, he made his way from the Tunnels to the Tower. As he drew closer, he projected his mind inside, searching out those who may remain hidden, and, once satisfied, projected his message to those inside.
What has happened?

Turning her head to the door, Claire has heard the voice of Kage. Quick to reply and to finish this night off, she projected back, There has been a problem with an intruder, but we are dealing with it. I will inform the school about it tomorrow.
I don't mean to be rude, Kage, but could you leave the tower. We want to limit the number of people involved right now, thankyou.
Claire looked back to Rose and the others and smiled.

Kage was relatively surprised by the harsh tones in Claire's reply, but he blinked, getting an inkling of understanding by the venom in her'voice. He nodded slightly, as if acknowledging an unseen companion.
Very well, Mistress Claire.
He turned and left, silent as he had come.

Relieved that Kage left the tower, she sighed. She would have to announce to the school what had happened. And it had to be as soon as possible, which would mean tomorrow morning at breakfast.
The students were the most important people at the school and they deserved to know what was happening. They needed to know the facts so that they could be protected.
They would find out as soon as Rose turned up to a lesson anyway, it is better I tell them...
From that moment she dreaded the morning, dreading standing up in that hall, a thousand faces staring at her, waiting for an explanation. Waiting for the news that would shock them and send them into a panic. Well hopefully not...

Rose got up from the bed, and her soft gaze swept the room quickly, to see if she needed anything. She remembered Claire pulling out her wand from beneath her pillow... could it be...?
Rose placed her hand beneath her mountain of silky soft pillows, and closed it around what she had hoped would be there - her own magic wand. Taking it out, she inspected it's rosewood exterior, and the initials W.R. engraved on the handle. As she moved her hand down to the handle, a warm feeling began in the pit of her stomach and felt as though it was flowing through her entire body; resulting in a few silver and gold sparks to shoot excitedly from the wand's end.
Rose turned and smiled shyly at the people in the room. "I guess I'm ready to go," she said slowly.
Seeing the troubled look on the blonde girl's face, Rose felt bad about what trouble she must be causing everyone else. She reached out and touched her on the arm gently. "Hey, it'll all be OK, don't worry." She tried to smile encouragingly.

Kiki remained seated on the windowsill, but was now watching everything unfold in front of her. She decided that she would stay here and wait for Claire to return to discuss the catastrophe further.
"Good night Rose. Make sure you get some rest," Kiki smiled warmly to her best friend who suddenley seemed so young. Kiki thought back to her first year of school. It must be like that for Rose, except there are all different types of pressure on the poor girl. She sighed inwardly, but made sure the smile on her face did not diminsh one millimetre, somewhat anxious to show Rose that there was support from her.

Claire walked over to the door and opened it. "You ready Rose?" she asked. "I'll take you to your room, yeah?"
Her eyes wandered from Rose to the others in the room. "Thankyou all for your help. I would like to ask you to go back to your dormitories etcetera. I will be talking to the rest of the school tomorrow and I would like for you to not mention this to anyone until I have."
Looking up to Kiki, who remained seatd by the window, Claire saw she didn't look like she was going to be leaving with them. "Kiki, you're going to stay until I return? You look like you want to talk about this...?"

Rose waited behind Claire, her eyes curiously gazing at the shaggy-haired boy who was to be her protector. She gave a nervous smile at him, then turned to see what the delay was - Kiki was hovering anxiously. She didn't have to say it, but Rose knew there was more troubling the whole group than they had let on.
Oh well, thought Rose, stifling a yawn. I can worry about that in the morning.

The lycan stood silently, watching the conversation with a distracted silver gaze.
Wilting Rose turned and looked at him, a slight bit anxiety evident in her earth-brown eyes, and Orca gave her a reassuring smile.
"Miss Claire? Would you like me to accompany you and Miss Rose, or would you also like for me to return to my den?"

"I think you can return to the dens, Orca." Claire replied. "Thankyou for your time and your discretion. But I can walk Rose to her room."
Looking back to Rose, Claire smiled at her and motioned for her to leave the room and descend down the stairs.
