"That's a very nice Flame Miss Samantha I'm glad you were able to figure it out!" said Merry as she observed her class' efforts. "Ah Miss Rainier, those are two lovely jars of flames, but I was just wondering witch one are you going to hand in?"
When Anna asked about the Candied Charm Merry sighed. "I was hoping this was only the work of one of my students, but now I fear this is a far more powerful charm than any of them could have devised. If indeed it IS someone in this school I do believe the are wasting their efforts, and instead should be teaching Advanced Charms to those who wish to teach at this level. It really is a shame."
Then Miss Monolayre asked about where to turn in homework. Merry only then realized that she'd forgotten to put out her Homework Basket for incoming Homework. She quickly got it out of the wardrobe and pleased it on her Candied bridge. "Please place all homework in the Incoming Homework box. If you don't have time to finish today you can place it there between classes."

Shazza rested her chin on Lyse's shoulder and with an innocent smile, she said "Yes you should..." Turning her attention to her assignment, Shazza grabbed her quill and got down to business. Shazzamyn Xynorek Hufflepuff Charms
Everyone in my family is Muggle (except my grandfather), and there aren't that many fire safety measures that we practice, but I'll do my best to stretch it out into two paragraphs. What my parents do is show us all the possible safe exits, and how to approach them in case they may pose a danger. One of these, for example, is feeling a door for heat before entering. In doing so, that can prevent walking into a fire trap. After exiting, we are go to our neighbors, inform them of the situation and call 911 (on a muggle contraption called a telephone; in doing so, they can inform the Fire Department and dispatch fire truck to put out the fire.)
Another thing my parents show us is how to use various fire equipment, such as fire extinguishers and fire blankets. In learning how to do so correctly, we can exit quickly and safely. Also they told confirmed and denied well known Myths, so that we can be better informed on what to do. Once such myth is that you should put out a fire only with water (if the fire is inside the house), when it is safer and more efficient to douse a blanket with water and beat the fire with it until it goes out (or something like that). That’s all. Nice work Miss Xynorek. It's somewhat disheartening to hear that your family doesn't do more to ensure your safety from fire, but I certainly understand you can't write about what you don't practice. Flames = 10 Points, Paper = 10 Points. Satisfied with her work, Shazza handed in her assignment and watched Lyse do his stuff.

Lyserg grabbed a washcloth from over by the sink and wiped his face off, then his hair a little bit. He chuckled, looking around a little and then returning to his seat Geez... I can't believe that I blew it up. He smirked and looked to Shazza and saw that she was done with the assignment and the homework. "W-wow... Man I'm so stupid..." He folded his arms on the table and then hid his face in them. Why would Shazza ever like someone like me? I'm not as smart as her. He sighed Not to mention the Prof. asked me to stay after class.

Looking at Lyserg's actions, Shazza frowned slightly and said "Hey, don't get frustrated! I'll help you. Here's my book, you can borrow it..."
She handed it over to Lyse, adding with a mischievous smile "Just don't blow it up..."
Shazza gave him another peck on the cheek and watched him.

Sylph slouched into the charms classroom with her bag slung carelessly over one shoulder, a sour look on her face. The first two were not unusual sights; the latter was. Sylph rarely got into a foul mood, but today was one of those days. She had slept through her alarm, meaning that she had missed most of breakfast, and, once arriving slap dash in the Great Hall, had promptly been elbowed away from the last pieces of toast by a particularly grim looking sixth year Hufflepuff - made worse by the fact that Gryffindor had recently lost to Hufflepuff in their final quidditch match of the season by the narrowest of chances. After that, Sylph had stomped upstairs, only to be ambushed by a violently clacking talking suit of armor which wanted to know the way to the caretaker's office so it could be oiled. Having shaken off the increasingly irritating metal garb (it had tried to explain exactly what it felt like to be rusting at various joints in great detail), Sylph had pelted off towards her first class of the day, running so fast that she forgot to jump the trick carpet and ended up with her leg stuck somewhere in the floor below. It had taken her almost a full quarter of an hour to free herself, and she was now running very late.
Luckily, her first lesson was only charms, which, as subjects went, was not particularly strenuous, and at least the teacher was a plesent one. Still, the day had begun badly, and it would take something special to snap Sylph out of the mood she was in.
Falling violently into a chair, the heavy frown never leaving her features, Sylph quickly read the instructions on the board. Great, just what I need, she thought bad-temperedly. Some kid to set fire to my robes or singe my eyebrows or... The mental grumbling continued as Sylph skimmed through the relevent chapter of the text book. Fetching a jar, making sure not to make eye contact with anyone lest they annoy her simply by being there, Sylph returned to her seat, pulled out her wand and unscrewed the lid.
"Caeruleus Inflamarae," she stated, rather forcefully, and at once bright blue fire erupted from the tip of her wand and filled the jar so quickly that Sylph had to jerk her head back to avoid getting burnt. Screwing the lid back on the jar to keep the annoyingly cheerful flames safe, Sylph rubbed her neck irritably and began to write.Coming from a house which has both muggles and magical folk, I have been taught several ways to deal with an uncontrolled fire.
Muggle methods focus on prevention, emphasising awareness and dissuading foolish behaviour such as leaving cooking appliances or candles burning unattended. If a fire does start, however, there are devices called 'smoke detectors' which alert people to the presence of a fire so that they may deal with it, either by dousing the fire (using a variety of methods such as smothering by fire blankets - wet towels if these are not available - or fire extinguishers) or by removing themselves from the vacinity. It is recommended by muggle organisations that each household has a fire emergency route planned in case of a fire, which also involves trying to isolate the fire by shutting doors etc. on the way. The fire service is available by dialing 999 on a telephone, and trained muggles turn up to try and put out the fire with water.
However, magical fires often have different properties to regular fires - non-smoking ones for example would not be detected by a muggle smoke detector. However, there are magical methods to deal with fires; smothering charms work well with small fires, as does producing water with a wand. However, once out of control, it is very difficult to stop a large housefire even by magical means. For this reason, even in a semi-magical household such as mine, muggle techniques such as having escape routes planned are effective.
In my house, mainly muggle methods are employed as fire safety measures - we have smoke detectors and fire blankets on both floors - but if anything happens, fires can usually be put out before they get out of hand by a magical member of the family.Wow! That was amazingly fast and *looks paper over* excellent work! I think it's wonderful that in your household Muggles and Magic Folk can cooperate in such a fashion. 9 points for your flames & 10 for the paper. Nice job! Not even bothering to read it through, Sylph threw her quill and ink bottle back into her bag, spilling scarlet ink as she did so, folded her arms determined to sit out the remainder of the lesson in moody silence.

Noticing one of her top students almost singe her wand hand in producing her flames, Merry knew something must be up. She soon came over to check on Miss Sylph's work to find a uncharacteristic frown planted firmly on her face.
"So!" She said in a sever voice "Your determined to bring down this class with that cloud of gloom around you, is that it? Well, I'm sorry but I won't put up with it. I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you to hold onto this for the rest of the class. When you leave you may return it to my desk."
Merry pulled a Puffskein from behind her back and plopped it in Sylph's lap. The Puffskein began to hum and vibrate rubbing itself against Sylph, wishing to be pet.

The cloud of gloom wasn't only above Sylph that class. It seemed the whole of Gryffindor had been brought down by the Quidditch loss, and Hayzie Roberts was no exception to that. Wheeling herself half heartedly into the classroom, the blonde muttered a quick: "Sorry I'm late," to the Professor before maneuvering her way around the various candy canes and other treats which littered the room towards a desk and pulled out her quill and parchment, reading the instructions on the board with no trace of her smile.

Aridan eyed Hayzie when she came in. He knew the lose had been hard on her, she loved to win more then even his sister and him. She was not sitting far away from him so he decided to put off the war for a minute or two to just be a friend to the poor girl.
As he stood up and moved a little over to Hayzie's side he smirked at the Teacher's comments about the pullers of the prank teaching advanced Charms. "What about is huh?" he said to Hayzie softly "Would you and Adhara like to teach some classes." he smiled at her. She would of course know he was playing, just trying to make her smile or even better laugh.

He was tempted to tell on the girl, the poor teacher shouldn’t have to go to the headmistress over such a silly matter. He wondered if he and his twin could figure a way to reverse the spell, ergo getting more points for the house. As he sat thinking of this he absentmindedly toke out his quill and began to scribble notes on a piece of parchment about the classroom. OOC: Dude, you CAN'T reverse the everlasting spell. Only the caster can. It's also a highly advanced, -experimental- Ministry charm that hasn't been released to the public since it's still undergoing testing and approval. Aridan wouldn't even know what it IS, let alone how to manipulate the spell to reverse it. Oh, and for the record, to everyone who didn't read the prank post carefully, there is a BRIDGE (that was the Professor's desk) that goes over the river. We're nothing if not meticulous. BIC: Addie, for once minus her cheerful grin, was as downtrodden as Hayz. She came in, plonked onto a marshmallow next to her friend, and listlessly got out her book, turning to the page with the bluebell firecharm they were supposed to be doing. It didn't even occur to her that this could be a very useful charm for setting an opposing chaser's broomtail on fire...she was that depressed. Raising her hand slightly, she wandlessly levitated a jar over to her cotton candy blob before slipping her wand out of her pocket, pointing it into the jar and saying, "Caeruleus Inflamarae" as she carefully filled up the jar with the crackling, brilliantly blue flames. She set the little pot on the edge of the poof, carefully making sure that it wasn't likely to fall, and began her homework. However, she looked up at Hayz in surprise at the teacher's announcement that the caster of the prank ought to teach advanced charms. She'd never thought of what she was going to do after she graduated that year. There had been some vague notions about joining Athena's department at the ministry, but she had yet to discuss that with her guardian. However, teaching would be rather fun. Talon was here, Hayz would be here for another year, as would Laura...she could still be with her friends, and do something that she loved doing. She'd helped Hayz with charmwork before, and it was as natural to her as breathing. Definitely something to consider, but for now, there was homework to be done.

The words on the page with the Charm on it seemed to float around, Hayzie was completely unable to concentrate on anything but their defeat on Friday, the fact she had resigned as Assistant Captain, and the almost jelous feeling that she couldn't fly a broom any more haunted her beyond anything.
Leaning her elbow on the arm of her whelchair, and her cheek against her hand, her green eyes seemed to stare at one spot on the page, not moving, and not taking anything in. Maybe being in classes was doing her less good than she had maybe hoped.
Casting the simple enough charm to levitate the jar over in her direction, Hayzie lifted her wand and looked back to the page. ‘Caeruleus Inflamarae’ it had written, and looking back to the board, it said to pronounce it Ca-RUL-o-us ind-flag-MA-ryem. Somehow, it didn’t seem right, but Hayzie cast it nonetheless, copying the movement it said in the book.
However, things didn’t quite turn out to plan.
The spell hit the jar well enough, but then bounced off it, and then off the desk of the students to their right, before bouncing onto a marshmallow on the other side of the desk Hayzie and Adhara were sat at, before hitting a candy cane, setting it on fire, and then it exploded into a sugary mass which looked like snow falling onto the charms classroom floor.
“Was that supposed to happen?” Hayz squeaked, breaking out of her daydream as soon as the spell hit the glass, and turning bright red.

"No I don't believe setting the classroom on fire was part of today's lesson hayz." he said playfully cleaning the mess of sugar from the room with a single motion of his wand and the spell unsaid 'Scourgify'. He was bothered that Hayzie had not noticed his comments. She seemed depressed to a level he had never seen her before. "Hayzie are you ok, your not yourself today?" he said kindly to her.
He was worried about her but he didn't know what to do to make her happy. He was good in potions so maybe a potion would help, or maybe a cheering charm? Though he had not really been to good with them. His sister on the other hand had done them very well, and had even fine tuned Aridan's in the process.
He touched her shoulder "Sure you should be in class Hun?" he said kindly to her. She was one of his best friends of all time, and no matter how much they pranked each other or got upset with each other they would remain friends. "Anything I can do?" he said getting ready to cast the cheering charm.

Having been woken up out of her annoyance-induced reverie, Sylph looked up, intent on scowling at whoever it was that had approached her. To her dismay and added irritation, it was the teacher.
You're determined to bring down this class with that cloud of gloom around you, is that it? Biting back a sarcastic reply Sylph met Professor Divine's eyes and said nothing whilst attempting to wipe the dark look from her face and failing miserably.
To her surprise, the professor dropped a custard-coloured ball of fluff into her lap where it immediately began to buzz and hum like an over-sized bumblebee. Sylph looked from it to the professor's face in mild confusion, trying to figure out why on earth she had been given a Puffskein. Hold onto it for the class, the teacher had said. Why the class? Was this some kind of prank? In her first class this same professor had got her own back on Hayzie, was she doing the same to Sylph for being bad tempered? Whatever it was, Sylph had little choice but to keep the Puffskein for a short while, so she nodded curtly to Professor Divine in acquiesce.
Now picking up the yellow fur ball - that reminded her strongly of a thing called tribble that had been featured on a programme known as Star-Trek - Sylph dumped it on her desk with a little more force than she had intended, but it didn't deter the Puffskein from purring; if anything, it simply got louder and seemed more content than ever. Sylph frowned.
"Stupid little furry git," she muttered under her breath at it whilst fishing in her bag for her magical creatures book. Finally locating the volume - and a little more red ink that caused Sylph to curse in frustration - she opened it to a page on Puffskeins and flicked her eyes down it rapidly.
Puffskein:,it read; found worldwide, this is a docile creature that likes to be cuddled and truly doesn't mind being tossed around. It is shaped like a sphere. Soft fur the color of custard covers it. It hums in low tones when contented. Sometimes, it sticks its very long, thin and pink tongue out in a snaking search for food: anything from leftovers to insects and spiders, and occasionally it eats bogies from the noses of sleeping wizards.
Sylph shut the book and tossed it back in her backpack, and picking up the fur-ball and sitting it on her palm she stared at it.
"Stay away from my nose, fluffy," she told it firmly, and dropped it back on the desk, waiting to see if it did anything.

"Aieeeeee!!" shrieked Merry as Miss Roberts Flames when awry. However, she didn't loss her head completely. She immediately performed a smothering charm and the last of the sugary fire was subdued.
"You know, I thought you kids were ready to move on to something a bit challenging, but first my text book now the-" she looked around at her Charmed room. "-the Candied furniture. Is there something you want to tell me? I was very impressed with the way you handled my little test but-" again she looked around at the singed chocolate room.
Suddenly she noticed the Puffskein lying on Sylph's desk. He was trying to move closer to her but she had pushed it back already twice. Obviously Merry's reverse phycology needed work.
"Miss Sylph, please forgive me for being 'mean' earlier. I meant for you to cuddle Ambrosius here, there for elevating your foul mood, not simply 'watch' him for me. Please Ambrosius wants to be your friend, see?" and she pet the Puffskein who immediately rubbed against her hand, loving the attention and humming loudly.
Looking around her class Merry saw that a lot of the student were felling 'crappy'. "Look" she told them. "If you lot promise to be careful with my other puffskeins, I'll let the rest of them out of my office once you've handed in your papers. Even I know there is a time for work and a time for cheering up."

Seeing that Professor Divine was busy, Anna put her elbow on the desk and her head in her hand, looking at the empty jar while a sigh of defeat escaped her lips. 'Okay, I just need to calm down. My attitude must be affecting my magic, so I just need to relax, relax, relax...'Repeating her mantra several times in her head and taking deep breaths, Anna lifed up her wand and said in a clear voice "Caeruleus Inflamarae." A small flame appeared, but slowly went out. Encouraged, Anna sat up and tried again. "Caeruleus Inflamarae!" To her surprise, a blue flame leapt from her wand and into the jar, dancing innocently as if it had been there all along. Smiling victoriously, then sheepishly at her earlier fustration, Anna screwed on the lid and slid it to the edge of her deep red, suspiciously blood scented desk (probably in honor of a Blood Flavored Lollipop; not that she planned to try it...). Pulling out a quill and a piece of parchment, Anna began to work on the second part of the assignment. Anna Riley Hufflepuff Charms Assignment
Since my family and I moved around a lot in both muggle and wizard establishments, I guess what we would do is look for an exit in the event of a fire. Truthfully, I don't know what we would do, for we were too busy thinking about other things and the topic never came up. So, I'm going to improvise.
In Wizard establishments, the best bet would to probably out it out with an Estinguishing Charm, or if it is too large, put a Flame-Freezing Charm on yourself so at least it wouldn't hurt. In a Muggle establishment, you should probably just escape and call for aid, since they do not have the convinience of magic. Sorry for the puny paragraphs.Wow Miss Anna, it's pretty sad that you and your parents haven't had time to talk about fire safety. I'll tell you what though, I think it would be best if next time you see them to have a talk with them about it. Also I think the flame freezing charm would work most effectively on almost any sort of fire. That is a great idea. Flames = 10, Paper = 6 points Re-reading her work, Anna thought 'She's not going to buy it.', and rubbed her temple again, feeling her headache come back on full force.

Jenna came into the charms class rather hastily and threw her books on one of the tables in back. She glanced up at the board and smiled. "This was one of the first things I learned at my other school," she thought. She took her wind and with a simple swish and, of course, the correct words, a fire had lighten as though it had been burning for hours.
Jenna smiled at her work and looked around the class and saw other people having troubles. Jenna, bored, started to reread the assignment on the board. She froze. The board said blue flame but her's was a deep purple.
"Shoot! How could I get this wrong!?" she scolded herself. She tried again but this time it was a lime green. "It's the pronuciation. I have the fire part down but I need to get the color part down."
She sighed and tried again... and again... and again... and again until she had every color of the rainbow besides blue. Finally giving in, she went up to Professor Divine's desk and asked, "Professor? How to you pronouce the color part of the spell because mine keeps coming out in every color but blue?" She await the professor's answer.
