Okay, so Hayzie wasn't the best at Astrology, and never would be. However now she felt like a small child. Either way, as the blonde girl opened her book at the right page that Melody was showing her, the stars that Melody had been pointing out became as clear as day, and a sudden look of realisation dawned on her face. Pointing up where Mel had been pointing, and referring to the textbook again quickly, she tried: "Is that one... Cancer?" with a hopeful look.
Maybe she had got it right, this time, after much hesitation and fretting. Astrology should be easy, but to this girl, it wasn't.

Mel looked where her finger was pointing in the book and up where she was pointing in the stars. "Yep you got it!" Mel exclaimed excitedly. "Yay now one more to go." She spun slowly scanning the sky for Hydra. "There Hayzie!" She exclaimed. She flipped through the pages of the book in Hayzie's hands and pointed up do you see Hydra The Water Serpent?" looked at Hayzie's face to see if Hayzie would react excitedly to the beutiful constalation in the sky of the tower......

Hydra. It was a constellation that she had heard of before, but wouldn't have recognised if it hadn't been pointed out to her. Looking between the book and the stars again, her green eyes lit up. It really was a beautiful sight, and Hayz was surprised that she had't picked it out beforehand. There was no way a bunch of stars like that would randomly go together.
"I see it," Hayz whispered back to Melody, completely in awe. Excited wasn't the word, breathtaken seemed a better description.

Kel looked around. Seph looked busy and everyone else seemed paired up. She took out a note book and started looking for constellations. Looking particularly for her favorite. The Phoenix. She reaches out to touch it and a somewhat cold sensation runs through her and she pulls back. She draws the Pheonix on her paper and goes to find another one. She looks next for Hydra. Obviously she had a thing for Greek Mythology. She looks further more at Andromeda and Hercules one of the stupidest hero's ever.
She has trouble finding a fifth one. She looks around at the other people in the class.

1. Orion The Great Hunter
Orion, the Hunter, is visible from October through March in both hemispheres. Orion the Giant Hunter or Warrior, he was a giant so tall that he could wade through any sea, His first marriage ended when the boastfulness of his first wife got her banished to the underworld. He was blinded by a jealous father when he fell in love with a Greek princess, but regained his sight when an oracle told him to look into the sun at dawn. When he saw Aurora the goddess of dawn, they fell in love. All was well until Orion was stung by a Scorpion, he fell sick and died. In order to honor him and protect him from his enemy he rises in the east as his enemy, the Scorpion sets in the West. Orion is never seen at the same time as the Scorpion. Orion was used to predict the seasons, a midnight rising of Orion meant that the grapes were ready to harvest, a morning rising meant that Summer was beginning, and an evening rising that winter is here.
2. Ursa Major The Greater Bear
Ursa Major, the Great Bear, is visible in the Northern Hemisphere all year long. Ursa Major is the best known of the constellation and it appears in every reference known. Calisto was changed to a bear because of Zeus's jealousy and transferred her to the sky. This is improbable, as the constellation was already well established before this time. The drawings all show a bear with a long tail, again not likely correct since bears have no tails. The most likely explanation for the bears and one which I find intriguing is the fact that Native Americans called the constellations the bear, but instead of the tail they depict the bear being chased around the pole by seven braves. Ursa Minor is a cub of the mother bear, all of this I find fascinating as it is the same story in Asia, could it be that the stories are similar because of common ancestry or contact between the two races?
3. Capricorn The Sea Goat
Capricornus, the Sea Goat, is visible in early autumn from the northern hemisphere. It reaches its highest point on September 1. Capriconus (the Sea Goat) is one of the most mysterious and ancient of all the constellations. It was known in Pre-Babylonian times as the god Ea. Ea was of vast intellect, the lord of the sacred eye. Ea has appeared on earth four times to educate man in the art of civilization and each time he appeared in human form he wore a cloak with the tails of a fish. Ea saved mankind from a great flood, the same one descibed in the Bible as the flood of Noah. After educating man, Capricornus returns to the waters as darkness falls.
4. Cancer The Crab
Cancer, the Crab is visible in the Northern Hemisphere in the spring, and visible in the Southern Hemisphere in autumn. There are several stories of this most inconspicious constellation. In early times, it was the crab crushed by Hercules when it pinched his toes in during a contest with Hydra. The Other story is from the Chaldaean and Platonist philosophy, who thought that Cancer was The Gate of Man through which souls passed from heaven to earth and into human bodies.
5. Hydra The Water Serpent
Hydra, the Water Serpent, is best seen from the Southern Hemisphere, but is visible during the months of January through May in the Northern Hemisphere. Hydra guards the cup of water from Corvus, the Crow, forever denying him, a drink of water. According to Babylonian mythology, Hydra the Water serpent is Tiamat, the dragon of Chaos. Who was conquered during the battle of the Epic of Creation by Bel Marduk (Gilgamesh).

Hayzie smiled at Melody and got out her own roll of parchment. The blonde hadn't started writing her assignment yet, so it took her a little longer than it had taken Mel, but either way she got it done quickly enough, her small, neat handwriting making the amount of work seem smaller than it actually was.

It was lucky, really, that they had been able to pair up for this assignment, and had been able to use the textbook for guidance. Thanks to the book, and Melody helping her through, Hayz had been able to learn a lot more than she would have done normally in an Astrology class.
Scratching an itch on her arm, which was hurting slightly after writing the longest assignment she had done in a while, Hayz thought about what she could write about herself. It seemed the Professor knew a little about her, but there were some bits he would never know.
Well, Professor, it seems you already have me sussed out. My name is Hayzie Roberts, and I'm one of the Gryffindor Prefects. I've been at Magic Horizons for 18 months, and have achieved a lot in that time. I am a chaser on the Gryffindor Quidditch team, and recently scored a goal in our victory over Slytherin.
My favourite subject is Charms, and admittedly my Astrology skills aren't the best around, neither are my potion-making skills if you really needed to know.
My hobbies and interests include playing Quidditch, pulling pranks on people (as you guessed when I walked through the door - though I'm curious as to how you knew) and taking walks around the school. Solving mysteries is also part of my life as a student here, and it has landed me into a fair bit of trouble while I have been here.
[glow=blue,2,300]Ah, Ms. Roberts. Yes I know you well. Can't tell you how though, Trade secret. But you and Ms. Ravine did excellent. Extra Credit!! 25/20!![/glow]
Here, Hayzie left off and rolled up her parchment before walking to the front of the class, which wasn't too far from where she was seated, and handed in her assignment.

Sylph looked around the room from her desk, wondering if there was anyone free to be her partner - the few people she knew already seemed to be paired up, but Sylph wasn't worried. She'd wait until it looked like someone else was ready to begin work before asking them to be her partner. Besides, she could do the assignment on her own from where she was sat. Already she could she Orion - easily the most recognisable constellation in the night sky, and just to the left of it was Canis Major, containing the brightest star in the sky, Sirius. On the opposite wall was Scorpio the scorpion, responsible for Orion's death. Also there was Signus, the swan, high in the sky, while Sylph's own star sign - Aquarius, the water-bearer - just peaked over the 'horizon'. Draco was there also, and V-shaped Taurus, containing the Pleiades - the Seven Sisters - Sylph's own favorite cluster of stars. There were more than 7, of course, but you could only tell that using binoculars or a telescope.
This assignment would be easy once she found a partner. All that staring at the night sky thinking was obviously about to come in useful.

She looks around her thinking about what to do. She decides to go back in her book to look for another constellation. Pegasus. Duh. If i'm going to put Andromeda why shouldn't I put Pegasus. She goes about for another few minutes drawing out the constellations as best she could then went back to her desk flipping through the pages of her book and her mind to find what to write about each constellation. Kelcia Lansing Astrology Identifying constellations
1. The Phoenix - A minor southern constellation which only consists of 11 stars. If in the Northern Hemisphere it remains low while easier to see during the summer of the Southern Hemisphere in area's like Australia and South Africa. It was introduced by the dutch navigators Pieter Dirkszoon Keyser and Frederick de Houtman.
2. Hercules - One of the most popular roman hero's yet one of the stupidest. This northern constellation is the 5th largest of the 88 modern constellations. It was also one of Ptolemy's ( ancient geographer and astrologer for Alexander the Great) 48 constellations.
3. Andromeda - A fall constellation for those in the northern hemisphere. It lies near Pegasus in a 'V' shape. Andromeda was one of the maidens in distress in Greek Mythology. She was saved by Perseus after being left on a cliff to be sacrificed to save her father's country.
4. Pegasus - Thought to be the winged horse of Hercules when actually he was tamed by Bellerophan and taken a way by Zeus when Bellerophan tried to reach Mount Olympus. This is another Northern constellation near Andromeda. It is thought that Andromeda was once a part of the winged horse constellation. It is one of the 88 modern constellations and also one mentioned by Ptolemy. Alpha Pegasids and Upsilon Pegasids are the two meteor showers associated with this constellation.
5. Aquila - Which is latin for Eagle lies within the Milky Way containing rich starfields. It lies almost on the celestial equator. It is said to be the bird of Zeus that carried a mortal to Mount Olympus to be Zeus's cup barer.
She looks at her paper not very pleased with it but wanting to get it over with. She notices something is missing and looks over at the directions again. Paragraph about self. What was she supposed to write.. Only god knows. So, she decided she wanted to atleast pass so she had to write it. Right? About self: I'm 15 in my 5th year. I tend to be quiet during class and loud outside. I'm NOT gothic. I like to write songs. I play guitar and flute.Welcome to Astrology Ms. Lansing. Good job describing the constellations. Keep it up! 20/20 ~Prof. CThere we go. Five sentences about herself. Good enough. She looks up from her paper and towards the proffesor. She decides to hand her paper in so she gets up and drops it onto his desk. She walks back to her desk and schlumps in her chair waiting for the bell to ring.

After writing, "Libra the Scales," in small sharp and tall letters, Teagan honestly said, "Green? Really? That's cool. At my old school, we didn't have astrology class--I think the older students may have been able to take it for a semester, but I haven't had any. We only did things like these for recreation, but I think I remember something about Orion... and his seven daughters? I can't remember too well. No, it wasn't his seven daughters," corrected Teagan. "It was the girls he tried to kidnap. I think he's supposed to be running from something, ur, something like that. What about the big dipper, little dipper, and North star? Or are they not constellations?" At her previous school, astrology supposedly wouldn't help them at all, and was just something they could do for fun. Once, Teagan heard the story of Orion, but it was long ago and the memory faded and disorientated. For once at something, Teagan was a novice.

"Nope the big dipper is part of a constellation. Orion on the other hand is a constellation." Checking to make sure that Orion was in the classroom Starlit wrote down Orion. "There is another one" she pointed to a pattern of stars. "It is Lupus the wolf." Starlit dipped her quill into her dark, sapphire blue ink and wrote 'Lupus the Wolf'. "We're getting this done pretty well don't you think." The paper was getting done quickly and without in Starlits opinion any difficulty. "We have only two more constellations to find!"

So, Loki had finally decided to attend a lesson. He wandered coolly into the classroom, noting with some mild amusement the wallpaper, before realising that the assignment actually involved it. Pushing his long unruly blonde hair from his intriguingly sea-colored eyes, he spied a familiar face or two in the room already, and made his way toward a certain violet haired girl whom he knew to be very talented with quidditch, even if she was just a beginner.
"Hello Sylph," he said in his soft voice, a small smile tugging at his lips. "How are you?
He took a seat next to her, his eyes meeting hers. He remembered now how attractive she had seemed before on the quidditch pitch, and though she looked somewhat different in school robes, he still thought she was rather striking, and not just because of her hair.
"Want to be partners?" he asked in his low cultured tone, raising an inquiring eyebrow as he did so.

Sylph turned her startlingly bright green eyes on a familiar handsome face, and her own broke into a smile.
"Alright, Loki?" she said, her cheerful and somewhat wry tones contrasting with his soft ones. "Yeah, sure, I was just hoping someone would ask me. What ya been up to then? Haven't seen you around much."
