Smoking in the Shadows

Sungai stepped forward and took the cigarette from his lips, holding it out behind him an arm's length away. He brushed a lock of hair from Makira's eyes and kissed her on the forehead. He stepped back and took another drag of his cigarette.

"You wouldn't have liked it." He informed her. "You wouldn't have been cut out for it, anyway. Not many people can handle a life with a Vampire and you're too young to even begin to comprehend it." He ran a tongue over his fangs thoughtfully.

"Vampiric love is a very dangerous and ruthless affair. You enjoy your normality whilst it lasts." Sungai suggested. He inclined his head to the girl and then disappeared into the darkness.

Makira's eyes widened a bit as Sungai brushed a lock of hair from her face, and kissed her on the forehead. Then she realised what it was - a big crush. That's all. All she had was a huge, school-girl crush on Sungai.

Makira sighed at her stupidity and nodded once Sungai was done, her bangs hiding her sadenned eyes. She waved as he inclined his head towards her and sighed sadly into the darkness.

For some reason, she just stood there - caught up in all that just happened - just like the night of the party, except she was considerably much calmer.
