Smoking in the Shadows

Makira shivered and shook, but it wasn't with fear - it was with a slight anger.

She can't win. She CAN'T WIN?? No way to escape - ??

Well, there's one way... , she thought desparately. She gathered up her courage, looked into his eyes fearfully and - lustfully? - acted on her spur-of-the-moment instict.

Makira wrapped an arm around his neck, and kissed him - she didn't know why, exactly, but she did. She closed her eyes as she did so, and hoped she had thrown him off.

[Sungai]

This was getting ridiculous. The second kiss in desperation he'd had whilst he was here, and he'd only been here a matter of months. The first was from the Ministeress whilst in the Lair and now this? He hadn't truly meant anything by his threat, he was planning to order pig's blood or something of the sort from the Hog's Head, as crude as it sounded. He was bored and this was a sport. At any rate tonight wasn't the night he was planning to execute the rest of his plan concerning Makira Blackthorne so this was slightly unexpected.

He pulled away, pushing her away gently by her shoulders and blinking a few times. He straightened his navy cloak and cleared his throat.

"Right." He spoke firmly and wrapped four slender fingers and a thumb around the top of Makira's arm tightly, giving the Lycan a curt nod and dragging her down the path and into the shadows. Once they had turned the corner Sungai pulled Makira into the darkness provided by an alley behind Zonko's Joke Shop and threw her to the ground.

"What are you playing at, exactly?" He demanded, before hauling the girl up again and as she seemingly flew up to her feet, he was the one who steadied her and paused for a moment, wondering if what he was going to do was the right thing, then leaned down and kissed her hungrily back.

Makira slowly opened on eye, as Sungai pushed away. When she gripped her arm, she winced and was then dragged over behind Zonko's.

Makira was then thrown on the ground, and then brought back up top her feet. Before she could even sthink about an answer, she met with Sungai, as he... hungrily kissed her back...??

Makira was confused - did he possibly..? Naww... Maybe... Likeher?

*'No. He's probably just after something... He couldn't possibly...'*

But before long, her feelings had impulsed her to kiss back...?

What was going ON inside of her..? She kissed back, yet.. was still afraid, but obviously wasn't showing it. Her mind, however, was racing and teeming over with fear, confusion, doubt... and yet, she just decided to act upon her feelings.. and go with it...

Sungai was the one who pulled away and looked at the girl in front of him sceptically. He ran a tongue over his fangs and surveyed Makira, who still seemed to be enthralled by the aftermath of the kiss. He coughed slightly and raised an eyebrow.

"You realise what you've done?" He asked, curious as to whether she'd comprehended the fact of who she had actually kissed. He stepped forward and walked around her in a circle, his dragon-hide boots making dull thuds on the alley way floor.

"You, the meek little Gryffindor with her big dog, the one who ran scared from this very same Vampire in the Quidditch Pitch only a few months ago?" He had circled her twice as he spoke and stopped in front of her, returning to his original position.

Makira stared at him. What was HE going on about? HE was the one who kissed her, the git!

*"Psh... Ye-ah, I ran... BACK THEN. Now I'm.. I'm not so scared - simple as that. Why's HE prying, anyhow? I'll.. I'll just tell him that.'* she thought, as she nodded to herself.

She couldn't stop her voice from shaking just a little bit, as she said, "W-Well, I... I've changed is all. Th-that's it. And why're you - wait.. What..?? 'Realise what I've done'?" she repeatedly slowly - she missed that entirely.

Makira raised an eyebrow and said in a curious voice, "Actually... no..?"

Sungai smiled lazily. These women would never learn. His golden eyes glinted and he bent forward to talk to Makira eye to eye.

"My kiss is intoxicating." He stated, his teeth gleaming in the darkness. "Even now as we speak you wish for another, I can see it in your eyes. It was lurking beneath your eyes at the party at the castle. I could see the jealousy nearly pouring off you when I danced with your friend to that music," Sungai paused, as though wounded as he recalled the tinny sound of the music. He preferred orchestral music himself, music with lots of violin and brass.

"I simply gave you what you wanted." He looked at her sharply. "It is what you wanted, wasn't it?"

Makira looked at Sungai as he spoke, and made a face. So? She noticed his teeth gleaming in the light and wasn't phased - she's seen the gleam before. Makira blushed a bit as he said his last bit.

"It is what you wanted, wasn't it?"

*'Yes, but so what? What's it to YOU? Y - Hang on.. it IS what I wanted...? It is...'*

Makira's gaze faltered for a moment at this thought, but she wa determined to keep eye contact, and regained her steady gaze with him. She had just realised - it WAS what she wanted.. what she WANTS... he was right... Git.

"S-So what if it.. it w-WAS what I w-wanted?" she stated, folding her arms across her chest. "Well.. maybe I am craving another... I just might not be.." That was a lie - a small one. She did, but... If was going to act all mysterious, she wasn't sure if it was worth it and all.

"Besides - why would you give ME what I want, anyways?"

Makira sighed softly and gulped, waiting for his reply, still keeping her steady gaze.

Sungai paused for a moment, as though thinking.

"Well, I could always leave, if you don't want me to oblige you." Sungai straightened and smoothed his cloak down then smoothly stepped away from Makira and toward the mouth of the alleyway. He'd had his amusement for the night, now for his meal.

Maki scoffed as he turned away and made for the exit. No. He's not getting away that easily - she wanted her question answered.

Makira unfolded her arms, and set off after him at a fast walk. "Mr. Sungai, wait - WAIT! C'mon, answer me question! Why would you satisfy my desires anyways?" she asked doggedly. She wanted to know. She still looked up at Sungai, being the short twelve year old she was. Why would a Vampire oblige with what a twleve year old girl he barely knew wanted, especially it being anything like a kiss?

Sungai stopped and did a sharp about face to look at Makira who had run after him. Why was she following? Perhaps she was more infatuated with him than she gave him credit for. He snarled angrily at her, annoyed that she felt the need to question him further.

"I didn't kill you twice now. You ought to learn from that." He warned her. "You are blissfully young and ignorant. It is better that you wake up to life's harshness whilst young so you can prepare yourself for it to happen many times later."

He smirked slightly.

"Why did you want a kiss from me?" He asked her, throwing the interrogation back on her.

Makira let out a sigh - it was more like a breath than anything, though - as he spoke.

Then, he threw it back at her.

She blinked and froze for several moments, then stated, throwing her hands in the air, "Fine! You win. I'll head back.. maybe never bother you again, who knows? Well I won't bother you tonight, anyways, Mr. Sungai. Night, I s'pose.. or is it Morning, now..."

Makira snorted and started to walk past him, trying to sort out all of her feelings, still.

Sungai caught her arm as she passed, chuckling mirthlessly.

"Answer my question, munchkin." He pulled her around so they were facing each other again and he fixed her with a piercing stare that he knew he could do fantatically well.

"Why did you want a kiss from me?"

Makira sighed once he grabbed her arm - she thought he wouldn't let her go without answering, but tried leaving anyways. Makira actually looked a bit tired and weary. She thought on it for a few moments.

"Well.. to be honest.. my feelings for you.. about you.. have.. changed, obviously."

She averted her gaze, her cheeks faintly tinted pink, looking at a cricket on the ground a couple feet away, awaiting Sungai's retort that was bound to come.

Makira sighed mentally and scolded herself a bit for coming here, asking questions.. enjoying the kiss... She blushed at the thought of it and winced, thinking of possible taunts or retorts at her nervousness.

Sungai fixed her with a dry look. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a cigarette, smoothing it over with his fingers, then extracting his silver lighter and flicking it open to reveal an orange flame. He lit his cigarette then slid his lighter back into its position among his cloak.

"Yes, I did pick up on that," He didn't disappoint her with his retort. "So, enlighten me as to what you wanted to happen after this, exactly." He was mildly curious as to what the girl had had in mind.

To tell the honest truth - Makira didn't know. She just had ideas, but they were blown away after she realised he was a Vampire and could never be interested in her. She sighed again.

"Well - to be honest, I don't know. I thought I did, but.. obviously I don't."

Makira shook her head, "I dunno, Sungai - err - Mr. Sungai." She corrected herself - she was taught always call someone Mr. or Miss/Mrs. until she asks permission, or the person being called Mr. or Miss/Mrs. gives permission to call them otherwise.

Makira was a bit disappointed, honsetly, but tried not to think on it - besides, she had Ark, even though she hoped he'd be okay soon, and besides - even if Ark and her broke up, she never had a chance with Sungai anyways. So, she frowned a bit, still looking at the cricket on the ground the blush still lightly lingering in her cheeks.
