Smoking in the Shadows

[Sungai]

Sungai sank into a chair in Hogsmeade, bathed gently in the yellow light of a streetlamp nearby. His lighted cigarette burned an amber on the end of the pale paper, the tobacco leaves crinkling rapidly in the steadily burning exterior. His usually dirty white head of hair looked a brighter white in the odd light and his golden eyes were fixed on a spot in the far distance, moving every so often to follow a woman or girl as they walked past.

He took a deep drag of his cigarette, blowing the smoke gently into the air and then let his eyes fall onto a pair of girls walking past, chattering excitedly. He smiled slightly and winked at them and they burst into a chorus of giggles, throwing glances back in his direction as they passed, Sungai making sure to retain eye contact every time they did so. They turned around the corner and Sungai rang a tongue over his fangs absent-mindedly, wondering what tonight would bring him.

[Makira Blackthorne]

Makira Blackthorne was out for a midnight stroll. Bolt was, as usual, asleep in the Gryffindor Dorms.

Makira was dressed in a pair of tan cargos with a white dress shirt, with her Gryffindor tie loosely tied around her neck, a skintight, longsleeve, scarlet shirt underneth the white shirt, and bangle bracelets around her wrists. Makira's hair was in two braids and they swished back-and-forth, slightly and her black sneakers made no noise as she made her way down the path. Her brown bangs covered her eyes and she let out a sigh - the Battle felt close.

Hands in her pockets, and slouched over, slightly, Makira made her way into Hogsmeade. She then heard a few giggles erupt from two girls coming down the opposite way. Makira looked up, and saw who they were looking back and giggling at - Sungai.

"Oh no.." she breathed, before inhaling some smoke from his cigarette. Maki coughed a bit, trying to be as quiet as possible.

She sighed again, and her amber bespeckled orbs glinted with fear as she neared him. The girls passed by, looking back at him some more, and she scoffed, slightly.

Makira then noticed Sungai run his tongue over his fangs...

Sungai's eyes drifted to new movement off to the side and smiled when he noticed a familiar face, a slight scowl flying across her features.

"Jealous, munchkin?" Sungai asked, amused. He too another deep drag of his cigarette and re-settled himself and the folds of his navy robes around him before exhaling the smoke in the oppsite direction to Makira.

"They were very pretty though, you must admit," Sungai added, his eyes shifting to follow the path that the girls had taken, wondering if it was worth it to follow and hunt them down.

Makira stopped abruptly, made a face at his question, and looked off to the side as she replied - a simple "No".

Makira looked back at them and then back at Sungai. "Hrm. I guess... Mlah." She neared the Vampire him slowly, cautiously. She noticed him looking back at themn and just scoffed mentally.

Sungai turned his eyes back to Makira, his eyebrows raised ever so slightly.

"Mlah?" He enquired. "That's new." He rolled his eyes and took another drag of his almost burnt out cigarette, turning back to Makira suddenly and speaking, smoke flowing from his mouth in bursts and starts with each word.

"What are you doing out so late, munchkin?"

Faylinn had been wandering aimlessly around Hogsmeade, not knowing why students were so fond of the place. She found nothing special about all the stores, the noisy kids running around; obsessing over candy. It annoyed her. The lycaness had been used to the quiet of the forest, only a few kids came in. She didn't mind them being noisy, they were all screams of agony.

"Yeah... You wouldn't want to get hurt..." Faylinn smirked, talking after Sungai. "I suppose there is a few people around to save you, though..." The lycaness smirked devilishly at Makira. She looked up at the vampire, inhaling some of the smoke. She wasn't sure if she liked the scent, but it didn't bother her all that much.

Makira stopped, and just stood - hands in her pockets, slouching over a bit. She looked at him - she was a good six feet away from him. Makira slipped a hand out of her pocket, her bangles jingling softly, and fiddled with her tie as she said, "Yes - mlah, 'Tis new." and poked out her tongue very quickly.

Makira then stopped playing with her tie and slipped her hand back in her pocket.

Maki then noticed a girl walk up, and speak after Sungai. She eyed the girl warily as she inhaled Sungai's cigarette smoke. Ugh. Maki grimaced, slightly.

"Well, insomnia took over and now I'm 'ere. I was bored. Nothing to do, really. Decided to take a look at Hogsmeade at night. I would ask the same of you, but you're a Vampire..."

Maki muttered the last sentence under her breath and looked to the side, again, at a moth on the lampost next to Sungai. She was careful to stay out of the light.

[Sungai]

Sungai chuckled darkly at the almost incoherent mumblings of Makira, and took the last drag of his cigarette, before dropping the butt to the ground and grinding it out with the heel of his boot.

"Munchkin, you may ask me any question you would like." A smile stretched over his features lazily. "I cannot promise you an answer to them all, however." He turned to the Lycaness, picking up her scent immediately and nodding a head to her.

"Sungai Banjir," He introduced himself. "And you are?"

"Munchkin?" Faylinn rose a brow at the vampire, an amused look played across her face. She tugged at a lock of the girls hair, making sure her attention was focused on her. "What's your name, deary?" She cooed softly, she wasn't about to call her munchkin too.

"Pleasure Sungai," She said to him, accompanied by a small bow. "Faylinn," The lycaness replied, she didn't often give out her last name, it wasn't necessary for such information to flow from her lips. Her first name was enough. She found herself meeting up with quite a few other creatures, she wanted to meet a fairy, that was a creature she hadn't came face-to-face with.

Makira looked up at the girl who suddenly tugged on her hair. She closed an eye and said, "Ow! It's Makira - Makira Blackthorne...! Nice t'meetcha, Miss Faylinn."

She slipped a hand out of her pocket, again, wiped a couple locks of brown hairs from her face. Her amber-bespeckled glinted with fear whenever she looked at Sungai, yet she wasn't all that afraid.

Suddenly, the night of her birthday party came flooding back. Makira froze, then started to shake, staring into Sungai's golden eyes.

Sungai noted the recoil immediately and stood, sliding a cool finger beneath Makira's chin. His navy cloak billowed slightly as it became unpinned from beneath his legs and his golden eyes glinted as they shone cruelly into Makira's frightened ones.

"What's the matter, munchkin? Regretting a little midnight stroll when you could be tucked safely in bed?" He smirked slightly then withdrew, still aware of the Lycanness' prescence nearby.

Makira's eyes widened and glinted dangerously - a mixture of fear, annoyance and... was that.. interest?

Makira looked straight into Subgai's eyes, and a small, defiant frown formed on her face - she was gettig sick of always being so scared - she was a Gryff after all! So, she cleard her throat, and said, a bit shakily, "No. N-no, I don-n't regrat com-ming out her-re, Sungai-i. I couldn't've been 'safely' t-tucked in b-ed', anyways. Like I s-said, I have insomnia."

She was trying get over her fear of him and sort out her feelings. Makira tore her gaze away and looked at the ground - at her sneakers. Her cheeks were tinged pink, but you would have to look close to see that. Her bangs covered up her eyes as she started down at her shoes, a small smirk on her face - she was overcoming her fear... SO far...

[Sungai]

Sungai allowed a sardonic smile to stretch across his features, and he ran his tongue over his fangs purposefully. His golden eyes glittered as they stared into Makira's and he tightened his grip around Makira's chin ever so slightly.

"Insomnia?" He asked. "I have ways and means of fixing your insomnia, munchkin," His voice grew slightly deeper and his fangs seemed to grow a little as he spoke. He drew his other hand up and brushed it against her cheekbone, before his lips closed together and the only evidence of his fangs were a single white blemish against his slightly pink lips.

Makira 's eyes involuntarily grew wider - she gasped quietly and shook her head mentally.

*'Stop being scared. Stop being scared. Stop being scared. STOP. BEING. SCARED..'*

The small brunette chanted it over and over in her mind. She blinked, then swallowed hard again. Maki then closed her eyes as he finished and let a small, slightly scared moan escape her lips. Maybe she did re - No. No, she didn't. She. Didn't...

She opened those scared, yet defiant and curious amber speckled eyes just in time to see his fangs shine, then be covered up by his lips. She shivered again and looked into his mesmerizing golden eyes again. Maki tried to tear her gaze away, but couldn't - didn't.

[Sungai]

Sungai could see the thoughts turning frantically in the girl's head, the anxious processing of ways to try and keep herself strong and he had to admit she was doing a fairly decent job of it. If it wasn't for the eyes flickering around before they settled into staring into Sungai's, or the slight shaking that ran through her body plus the small whimper of fear as Sungai tightened his grip.

"You cannot win, munchkin. The odds are against you and you've no way to escape." Sungai's eyes glittered with a kind of triumph over her. He'd entrapped her as he'd intended and once he had, well, he'd allow nature to take his course. He could almost smell the sweet blood that this one would bring him, the crimson liquid blossoming from her perfect cream neck and into his mouth.
