Actually, what Talon (and I, for that matter) go by as far as elemental theory is what Meriel used in her Elemental Class for the Gifted... But most of it is pretty logical, I think. I could probably pull up the textbook if anyone wants...
And Chris, yours is interesting too... but it's too real-world-ish for me. I have enough chemistry to deal with atm.
XD
...like that test tomorrow that I haven't studied for...

I see. My theory is much more magical, while your theory is far more scientific. I suppose both can work.

Technically, Kage is a shadow elemental.....except he's also part Shade.....so he's unique.

Shadow doesn't really exist on the Aristotle table...so feel free to do whatever you want with it.

Go for it! Nothing against originality.
I've always liked the fact that Kage is Half-Shade and a Lycan...
(Being Kaiser, I watched your performance in the Auditorium battle. Very impressive.)

You had valor though! And you were technically the ONLY ONE fighting on the good side, so you were expected some losses.
Oh yes, and in response to what I tried to respond to Chris a long time ago. That kind of magic (removing glass, disappearing, etc.) is all uncontrolled magic. A wizard can perform the magic he or she wishes, just that the wand makes things easier and...
What Kalyn said, basically.

Actually, this book series i read, called the Dresden Files, gave a very different spin on magic.
Its a generally primal energy that can only be tapped into by a few, and its directed purely by mental concentration, though it has the potential to burn out your entire conscious system. Using things like wands and incantations are ways to insulate your mind from the power of the magic.

What about spells that you have done so many times that it would seem natural that you found a way to cast it without a wand? People such as myself who only use simple magic that you would learn in your first year and practice that magic constantly might be able to get a grip on that spell enough to not need a wand.
I only really use two spells, one which is very similar to an extremely dumbed down but multiplied version of incendio and one that I made up. The incendio knock-off is basically a cloud of sparks that can be launched and the other one that I made up is basically summoning a ball made of obscenely flammable(SP?) sludge about the size of a baseball. Also a reason that I only use those two is because I lost practically all of my magical ability in an incident that also made me loose my soul...
EDIT: Had to fix a couple typos, it was buggin me

....like i said to you before, doesnt losing your soul mean losing magical abilitiy? I mean, doesnt your ability to use magic in the first place come from your soul?

Dante had his soul stolen, he had a soul so therefor he had magic. He actually had quite an array of magic but the ball-o-sludge thing was the only one that he could do without need for a wand or anything besides himself. The other spell is what he gained from his short stay in hell. Demons and pretty much anybody who has stayed in hell for any extensive period of time gains some ability or another, Dante was only there for a relatively short period of time. He gained something, but it's only a minuscule fraction of what anybody could do with a simple spell. Having his soul stolen took away almost all of his magic casting abilities, what little he has left is like a residue.
