Sylph watched silently as Chris left the room, frowning vaguely in his general direction. So much for an agreement, she thought wryly, but said nothing. Instead, she turned her eyes to Dante and his offer, watching mutely as Aidana stepped towards him in acceptance. To her, Aidana seemed slightly nervous, but she handled herself well; the younger girl was doing what she should be, using brains instead of brute strength to fight. Sylph's eyes narrowed as her friend called forth the firey daggers and used them as a distraction, but her lips held the trace of a smile. She hoped she would be this good when it came to be her turn, but for now she was content to watch, to assess the soulless one's reactions and responses.
Lowering the two bokens Sylph leant back against the wall, and waited.
OOC: ugh, crap-tacular post... apologies.

Dante waited in anticipation as Aidana began to make her move. He was prepared for almost anything she could dish out. Anything except for a magical kick. His eyes watched the blade as it passed from the left hand to the right then. The scabbard deflected the first swing. The first move was expected. The fiery daggers that were cast caught Dante a bit off guard. Even though he saw the spell plainly, he still was hit by the burning blades. Three large kicks in the chest were all that Dante felt as he fell backward.
Flames licked his entire body, but didn't burn him in the least. His cloak was fully enveloped in flame but didn't even char in the least. Although he was on fire, he didn't notice till he stood back up and saw the flames on his sleeve. The soulless eyes looked around to verify that he was in fact on fire. Having no body temperature and not feeling pain were a few added bonuses.
Only one thing caught his attention as the blade pierced through him while he patted out the flames. What struck him was the magic. "That was a dirty trick you pulled. Keep practicing that technique. An enemy can usually adapt to a fighting style if they are any good. If you can keep changing the rules of engagement as so to your advantage, most enemies should fall before you." The scabbard he had in hand now slid itself over the katana. Not to say that training was over, but more so just for a place to put the thing.

When Aidana saw that Dante was taken by surprise by her spell, she knew that this time she had the advantage. She herself was slightly taken aback when her distraction had worked. Something inside her had expected Dante to fight back, and not let her win so easily. Slightly disappointed, she watched as he extinguished the flames on his coat. Hm, if only she didn't feel pain, or even the flames. That would get her to fight longer and harder during the war. " Dirty trick?!" she retorted. " How was that a dirty trick? I'm training to fight in a war where that's the least you can expect out of your opponent." Aidana had half a mind to go on, but stopped. She knew that Dante had given her the highest praise he could by admiting her strategy had worked. There was nothing more she could expect out of him. She turned to look at Sylph, who had retreated to the wall. Aidana saw the small smile at her friend's lips, and smiled back. " Your turn," she said winking to Sylph. (OOC: Maybe I should've made that clearer no? Ah, well)

"How was that a dirty trick? I'm training to fight in a war where that's the least you can expect out of your opponent."
Dante rolled his eyes and sighed deeply. It would be a very difficult day to say the least. First a student who thought he was so much better than everybody else and decided to leave. Now a girl who couldn't find the meaning of his words. "You must learn how to properly take a compliment. Say thank you, respond appropriately, and don't harass someone for it." He looked the girl over again. It would definitely be tough to teach one like her.
"your turn."
Like music to his ears the words echoed in his mind. Quickly stepping down to the girl with the wooden practice swords he picked up the pair and turned around. "Yes, my turn. We shall now learn your abilities in defending yourself." Slow at first he moved toward the girl. At a ten foot mark he stopped. The two mock blades twirled in Dante's hands.
"First your grip." He shot forward and whirled around smashing the katana from her hand by hitting the back of her hand with one and hitting the sheathed katana firmly halfway up the blade sending it sliding away from Aidana.
"Second, your stance." Before the girl could react Dante was already behind her sweeping her feet out from under her. As she hit the ground Dante threw the bokens in opposite directions. One fell into the handles of the entrance door, partially locking them in place. The other soared through the air and smashed a window.
"Third, never relent when attacking an opponent in the field of battle." As he said this he bent down and gripped the collar of Aidana's robes and a handful of fabric near her waist. Dante stood up abruptly and lifted Aidana. In a quick move the girl flew through the air and hit near the end of the platform.
He did not continue from there. He only stood and watched her. Silently and not moving Dante looked upon the girl. His eyes closed slowly as he took a knee.

Aidana listened to Dante lecture her with a raised eyebrow. First obeying orders, and now how to accept compliments the right way. What, was he here to teach her how to fight or show her proper manners? She sighed and absently nodded, not really paying attention. Her mother yelled at her enough about those things at home and now she really didn't want to hear it from someone who had been rejected in Hell. (OOC: ;D ) When he stepped down to take the practice swords from Sylph, Aidana snapped to attention. He walked towards her slowly, and thoughts rushed through her head as she involuntarily took a step backwards. What is he doing... Her thoughts were answered a second later as the practice smashed into her hand. Not expecting the pain shooting up her arm, she dropped her blade and it slid away from her. She looked up at Dante angrily, and it occured to her that this was just the beginning. A second later, his body was a blur as he shot behind the girl. Her feet were swept out from under her and Aidana fell to the floor. She put out her arms to cushion the fall, and quickly tried to stand up again. Before she could do that, she felt her body lift into the air, supported by Dante. Just as quickly as she was lifted up, he let go of her and she flew through the air, just as before. Aidana hit the ground hard, and air knocked out of her lungs was the least of the damage. Half expecting Dante to do something else, she laid still for a second, but remembered the lesson he was trying to teach her. Never relent in battle... Slowly she put her hands on the ground and used them as support to stand up. Her muscles ached, and Aidana knew that she would have quite a few bruises in the morning. She turned slowly to face the being who was supposed to be teaching her. " Twice, TWICE now you have done that to me!" she said shaking with anger. Surprisingly instead of yelling, her voice was soft, but laced with ice. " Do you think I am a rag doll just to be thrown around?! Why do you hurt me when you're supposed to be teaching me?"

Dante sighed heavily. His eyes just watched as the girl picked herself up. They scanned her to check for any obvious injuries. None any more serious than a few bruises is what he suspected.
"Twice, TWICE now you have done that to me!"
"Do you think that everybody you may have to deal with will be nice to you? I have only given you flight, a small taste of it at that. Have I actually harmed you? No. A bruise or two is nothing compared to what you should expect from a challenger." He walked over to the wall and leaned against it. Dante slowly looked from Sylph to Aidana. "Why do you fight? What are your reasons?"

"I thought you didn't like interacting with lower life forms." Her voice echoed over the locked hall, her eyes playfully glancing at Dante and then to Aidana. She looked famillar, somehow... but the nymph just couldn't place her. Where had she seen a student before? It had most likely been in the forest.... ah, yes.
"Nymphs, on the other hand," she said turning to her captor, "are supposed to represent playfullness." This distraction wasn't enough. She had to do something much more drastic.
"Needless to say Nymph," she continued," you are an outcast, shunned by your kind. Why else would you be mixing with such creatures as vampires?"
This was the girl she'd nearly killed. Why was her face so hard to remember? Sighing, the nymph adjusted her weight on the windowsill. She hadn't planned on flying so close to the school or even coming near it, but after hearing Dante's voice and watching the window shatter... well, she simply couldn't pass up the chance for another lovely encounter.
She rather liked her view of the hall from the window and decided not to come down. It was a safe perch and she could easily leave if she wished. But this might prove to be rather amusing- someone like Dante actually attempting to teach a student?

OOC: Did I really type that?! I went back and read the thread. It was one of my first threads...eh that was really bad RPing. >.<
Aidana was going to snap back at Dante, but shut her mouth. He had made his point, but she still didn't agree with his method on teaching. If she said something more, she knew that it would grant her yet another trip flying across the room. She watched disdainfully as he nonchalantly leaned on the wall again. Why were they doing this?
" We're doing this to protect the school," she said. "It really hasn't done much to protect us, but I feel a need to protect the innocent students within the school. They have no reason to fight, and they shouldn't be forced to. I feel that we owe our alleigance to this school, and I really don't want to see it destroyed. What would happen to all inside the school? They would be forced into hiding, cloaked in darkness. And besides--"
Her speech was inturrupted by a playful voice over her shoulder. Wondering who else was here Aidana turned, and saw someone who she never wished to see again. The nymph who had welcomed her to Magic Horizons. She had certainly taught Aidana the dangers of the Forest, but did something much more than that. By Anactoria's hand, she had been tortured within inches of her death, but Aidana realized that she owed something to the nymph. If she hadn't been to the Forest that day, she doubted that she would be involved in protecting the school now. It certainly gave her something to think about...
"We meet again Nymph," she said softly, her hand automatically reaching up to touch the scar at the base of her neck. A few months ago, the scar had been the bane of her life, but now, it didn't seem so bad.

Dante looked to the broken window. A semi-familiar nymph was sitting upon the sill. That night on the lake was still fresh in his mind. Maybe an change of teacher would be in order. He saw a connection between Aidana and Anactoria. Only a few words were exchanged between the two, it was more than enough to see that they had a bit of a history together.
Dante listened to Aidana's reasons for fighting, he had heard more than he needed to hear. "Innocents? Nobody is innocent! Everybody has committed a crime, a wrong doing in their lifetime. God shows no forgiveness to mortals who feel that they are absolved of their sins! I am proof of that, standing here before you." Anger was building inside him as he continued to speak. The only sign of his anger was a red drop, almost like blood, tracing over lines in his right eye. A symbol of genocide was revealed where a pupil should have been.
"Protecting the weak is noble, but useless. Life is for those who are strong enough to keep their own. Those who refuse to take refuge somewhere else or refuse to fight for their own lives do not deserve them. A wasted life is a sign of weakness. Weakness leads to destruction of self."
A long dagger had been drawn by this time. The blade was held firmly in Dante's hand. Frost poured off the blade as though it were ice. "Girl, show me what you have learned. It is obvious that you have lost in battle to that nymph before. Now, even the score!" The blade was pushed back into its sheath as Dante shot himself toward the far wall. A split second later he was on the opposite side and quickly making his way up to the broken window. Not more than a second was all that it took for him to get within inches of Anactoria's ear. "Teach her something that she will never forget." He whispered into the nymph's ear. At that point Dante shoved the nymph forward into the large room and jumped down from the window sill back into the room.

When Aidana had spoken, Sylph thought that it was she that the redhead was referring to. Indeed, Sylph had been looking forward to her turn at learning new skills, even against someone as obviously dangerous as Dante the Souless. Still, the dark man, if he could actually be called thus, seemed to take it as an invite for him to attack. And gods how he attacked. If Sylph had been the emotional type, she would have backed off in fear or called out. As it was, however, the rarely-ruffled violet haired girl did not move, even as Dante took the bokens from her. It was hard to watch Aidana getting beaten like that, but Sylph knew she must not interfere, even remaining silent at her friend's outburst.
Why do you fight? What are your reasons? the souless one asked. Sylph snorted. Why did they fight? To survive, obviously. And to ensure the survival of those they cared for. There was no better reason.
Suddenly, Sylph's bright green eyes narrowed at the arrival of a winged figure in the room. Her head turned slightly to one side as she gazed shrewdly at the new arrival. She didn't need Aidana's soft comments to tell her that this was the nymph that had attacked her and Ark in the Forbidden Forest, but what was she doing here at the school?
"Who are we to say what is weak in others?" she said firmly as she strode boldly away from the wall against which she had been leaning. "It is not for glory or nobility which we fight, it is survival, for ourselves and for others. We fight so we can live in peace." A faint smile traced Sylph's lips now, as she turned as watched Dante's lightning quick movements to the Nymph and back, the draw and sheathing of the blade. She had not missed what Dante had whispered; Sylph's hearing was the best of anyone she knew, even if her eyesight wasn't so great.
Here we go, she thought telepathically to Aidana, even her inner voice slightly wry in tone. A dare-devil grin appeared on her features, a look that suited her, and she drew her wand whilst simultaneously wrenching a dao from the wall and weighing it carefully.
Now it was her turn.
