OOC: may I join? Slyphy would also like some training...
IC:"It is important that students bring a certain ragamuffin, barefoot irreverence to their studies; they are not here to worship what is known, but to question it."
The low voice of a tall althletic looking girl heralded the arrival of a certain sixteen year old with violently purple hair and a set of startlingly bright green eyes. She leant on the inside of the doorframe with a certain wry half smile on her face, the very image of a casual entrance. Her words held truth though, and they were relevent to Dante's last words. Sylph raised a solitary eyebrow at the tall man - though he looked little older than she - knowing him to be Dante. Souless. Rumors of him had been fliting about lately, but Sylph was pretty sure he had nothing to do with Danawi. And right now, that's all that mattered to her.
"If you are to teach someone, they must question you," she explained. "Otherwise, how do you know they are learning?" She pushed off the doorframe with her shoulder and walked to help Aidana up, careful not to hurt her. There didn't seem to be any serious damage done. Sylph was glad for that fact; she'd had to patch up Aidana before, and it was not something she terribly enjoyed doing.
"So, kiddies," she went on in her characteristic way, cheerful and sarcastic all at once. "What are we doing today?"

OOC: Well, Dante threw her half-way across the room, and even a softened blow would hurt a bit.
Aidana looked straight at Dante, almost kneeling in front of her. He looked determined to teach her something, yet he seemed as if he would be perfectly satisfied to fight Chris. But he had made a good offer to Aidana. She could see the advantages of learning from him, but then there was also Chris. Dante would undoubtedly be a hard master, probably showing her pain. She wouldn't have to worry about that if she trained with Chris. Truly, Aidana didn't know what to say. But she would have to clear something up first.
" Will you please stop calling me girl? I have a name; it's Aidana. And I did follow orders when it was good for me. I attacked when you said to, and I learned to aim. I didn't exactly see what giving you the scabbard would do to help me," she said, with a satisfied look on her face. She looked between the two men. She couldn't decide which one to be taught by. She didn't want to disappoint Chris, but not forgo some of the things taught by Dante, which Chris would never teach her.
" I- I don't know," she said uncertainly, looking down at the floor.

OOC: Actually he only threw you about ten feet, but that is a variable for another discussion. I'd say that Dante wouldn't mind fighting Chris at all at the moment.
BIC: Sylph's words rang into Dante's ears, they resonated into his mind slowly. He closed his eyes and turned his head toward the source of the sound. As he opened his eyes he saw a girl with bright purple hair. If he was anywhere else he may have payed attention to the vibrant and uncommon hair color, but being that he had been around such frequent color distortions of appearance he did not notice it much more than acknowledging the fact of the color. "You know that your student is learning when they correct their mistakes before they make them. She is starting to learn. Slowly at first, but I assure you that by the time she is done she will be as sharp as the katana. She appears to be determined or at least mold-able. The girl reminds me of someone, my younger brother. For her sake I hope she does not end up like him. In fact it is in his name that I am doing this now and that I am the man that I am today. You may have seen Kain at one point or another, it's possible that you saw him..." Dante stopped abruptly. He realized that he had already said too much about something that he was still sensitive about. "Please, join us." He said quietly.
Dante looked back to Aidana. "Well, Aidana, I will remain present if you decide that you would like to learn from me. I will not force you to choose, it is your own decision" Dante stood up tall and lowered the tip of the scabbard. He flipped it around and grabbed the opposite end and extended it toward Aidana. "The purpose of giving me the scabbard is to give me the weapon that would result in the minimal immediate possible harm. When you suggested that I use my own blade you suggested the worst possible choice. I could give you a demonstration with the boy. I promise I wouldn't kill him, only a scratch or two."

OOC: ...remember if you decide to fight me no newbie crap like "oh god i sliced the s*** out of you when you werent looking"...not saying you would just making sure BIC: *Chris looked at Dante (who was only 3 inches taller than him...6'5" isnt all that tall...i know people 6'7" and 6'8" in real life on my football team ). Was this annoying guy serious about fighting him? And if so what interest did he have in Aidana? If he was so good he would not be lending out his teaching services to just anyone. Something was missing here.* "I dont know. That was pretty cocky for someone who has never seen me before." *Chris stood there determined not to make a big deal about Dante. Yes, he was annoyed but it wasnt much to worry over. He just stood there though and kept his cool, looking over at Aidana to see what would happen next. Then he turned back to Dante.* "If you have any concern for Aidana then we will not fight unless she wants for me to get rid of you. This is for her, not for yourself. Make sure you understand that clearly."

OOC: Dude, I know a guy who's 6'8" and is on the chess team. Size doesn't determine your activity. Also, I'm not a newb. I don't go for cheap tricks like that, I go for ones that are so much more fun. Such as kicking you in the face then hitting you with the sword.
BIC: Dante laughed to himself as he heard the words "I don't know. That was pretty cocky for someone who has never seen me before.". There were things that Chris could never have seen, or ever experienced. Many things of Dante's past aided him every day. "Boy, I've had worse than you could ever do. I am an ex-death eater. Many times I've run into shady aurors that used some, unorthodox methods of playing twenty questions. I've had my soul ripped from my chest, nothing can ever compare to that."
Dante turned away from Chris and walked off the stage and onto the open ground. Slowly he sat in a chair that was leaned up against the wall. He threw the scabbard that he still held in his hand up onto the stage. Dante knew that he wouldn't be needing it any time soon.
Subtley Dante began to form small orbs of sparks in the palm of his hands. He began to toss them in a line five feet from the stage. The sparks faded quickly but left small burn marks on the floor. He propped his feet up on a small table that was in front of him and then raised his hood again. "A student can learn a great deal to see their master's words put into action. Watch them as they move, watch how and when they attack. See if they can compare to someone who is greater than they are. Find out if it's not just words and flashy moves to impress a student." His words quietly slithered around the room.

Aidana whipped around as she heard a familiar voice behind her. She saw a familiar violet haired girl standing in the doorway, and smiled. Sylph was a comfort these days. At least she didn't seem perturbed to find that there were two students and a soulless being arguing in the Dueling Hall. Sylph was like that. She came up to hlep Aidana, but found that there was nothing wrong with her. Dante was starting to explain why he was teaching Aidana. She was curious to hear about this. It really confused her. Why would someone like him be willing to teach someone like her. He started talking about his younger brother, but stopped suddenly. He still seemed to have feelings for him, but how could he? Dante was soulless. Aidana filed his away for later, it might be useful to her. She still didn't understand how giving him the scabbard would help her. She shook her head, and gave up trying to understnad that. Then she found Chris and Dante were trying to challange eachother again. She sighed, knowing that neither of them would stop unless they actually got to fight.
" Look, if you two could demonstrate that would be great. And to minimize damage, use the wooden swords if you have to," she said, gesturing to a rack against the wall.
" And you," she said, turning to face Dante. " Fight him using only the sword, no powers. I'm sure that would provide a challange."

Sylph smirked to herself. The amount of arrogance flying around the room from both males was, quite frankly, amusing. Sylph shook her head at Chris - no living human should be that cocky, and as for Dante... well, being souless, he had probably earned the right to be a little self-confident. If you couldn't be killed, why wouldn't you? And yet the words about his brother had not gone unnoticed, but she said nothing. Best not to provoke anyone who had a penchant for killing people that annoyed him.
She shot amused looks between the two of them as they squared off, but maybe Aidana was right... Pulling out her twelve and a half inch willow and dragon heart-string wand, Sylph conjured up a couple of Bokkens; thin long wooden Daito-type blades, usually used for practice. Not that you couldn't still be killed by one, particularly in the hands of experienced fighters. Still, better than messing up a nice blade like the one Aidana had.
"Will this do?" she asked, a slight grin still on her face. Her body was relaxed as she held the two blades, one in each hand, feeling the weight. They felt pretty good considering that had been conjured by a sixteen year old, not bad at all. "And like Aidana said, show us your skills, but try not to kill each other, huh? I'd hate to have to clear up the mess."
Despite her light words, Sylph was actually interesting in seeing this fight. Personally, she was rooting for Dante, for reasons unknown to her. Maybe she just liked his style better. Either way, she was definitely willing to learn. Tough as she was, she could do with a bit of training.

The tension in the room was palpable. Aidana looked in between Chris and Dante to see if they would accept eachother's challange. Neither of them made a move. Aidana inwadly grumbled. she had been thrown across the room, for this? Someone was going to fight, and she guessed that she had to be the one. Aidana quickly took one blade from Sylph, and unsheathed it.
" Well, since you aren't going to fight eachother, I'll fight one of you," she challenged. " I came here to learn, and I will learn something."

OOC: No! Don't go!
Aidana was holding the katana, ready to fight when Chris spoke. It wasn't like him to just give up and leave! He shrugged and turned around, and it looked like he was leaving. Aidana's sword arm dropped, and she caught Chris's wrist with the other hand. What good would it do to her if he left? She had come here to learn from him, and he hadn't taught her anything at all.
" Wait, Chris! I want to learn from you. You know I came here to do that, and it doesn't do anyone good if you just leave! I want you to teach me, and you know what we're going to use this for. It isn't like you to just leave anyway. Don't go!" she pleaded.
" Please?"

OOC: Something quick that I'd like to point out because nobody has seemed to notice- Dante has left so to speak. He walked away and is now sitting by the wall just watching you. He is NOT still standing anywhere near Chris or any of you for that matter. Until one of your characters makes a move to have Dante come back into the thread, he will be absent while present. In other words, he's just a silent shadow for now.
Chris, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD OR ANY DEITY MAKE AN EFFORT IN POSTING! I'm tired of that one-liner stuff. Give you posts some substance to them. Make them have something to respond to.

OOC: *grumbles at Chris* Yea thanks for telling me! Found out yesterday...>.<
Aidana watched silently as Chris left the room. He hadn't even made amove against anyone in the room, just suddenly left. Something else was bothering him, she could tell. Something more than what had just happened. She sighed and turned to her friend. Sylph hadn't witnessed anything, and had just come here for the same reason she did. An awkward silence filled the room, and Aidana didn't know what to say.
" Well then Sylph," she began, "I guess it's just you and me."
She turned towards the silent shadow that was the soulless. He was just sitting there calmly watching everything happen. Though it wasn't as if he could have emotion, lacking a soul as he was. She looked at the bare katana in her hand, and offered it to him.
" So, am I going to learn something today or what?"

OOC: I guess I'll give it a shot...
IC: Dante watched as Chris left. To turn down a fight was one thing, but to abandon someone in need was completely different. His cold eyes moved to the blade being pointed in his direction. Slowly but fluidly he stood up and moved to the foot of the stage. A small hop brought him up to the lip of the raised floor and extended a foot forwards. Slowly but surely he moved, each step deliberate and poised.
He picked up the scabbard and looked at Aidana's hands. The grip was always something that could show the difference between an aprentice and a master. He held the scabbard firmly six inches above the mouth. Dante tapped the tip of the katana with the end of the scabbard. "Hit me."

Aidana watched silently as Dante came to face her again, this time with the scabbard. She felt a slight vibration on the blade she held when he tapped it, but clenched it harder to make it steady. It was the second time she was wielding the blade again, and she was extemely nervous. Last time he had stunned her by driving the katana into himself to make a point. She thought of that point now, but pushed it into the back of her mind. That was something she could worry about later, if she did somehow manage to hurt Dante, she couldn't kill him.
Aidana looked into the soulless being's eyes, and narrowed her own. This would take strategy, not strength. Dante obviously had the advantage here. Not only was he stronger and bigger than her, he was much more experienced and skilled. How was she supposed to gain ground here? By using something the opponent didn't have...magic. But that's where she hit a snag. She couldn't reach into her robes in the middle of a fight to grab her wand. That could be a fatal mistake...
She would need to take a big risk and use her newly learned skills. Swiftly Aidana changed her grip on the katana to her right hand, and sliced the blade up towards Dante's face. She stepped toward him, trying to force him back.
"Crema Sicae!" she yelled, opening her left hand and pushing it forward. Daggers of fire emerged from nowhere and immediately jet towards her opponent. Using them as a distraction, Aidana thrust the tip of her blade forward aiming for Dante's heart.
