The hard floor was cold beneath her bare feet, and that cold seemed to travel up her body slowly. She wore a pair of boys boxer shorts and a tight tee shirt. Obviously Pj's. Her emerald eyes looked sleepy and glazed over. She walked through the long corridors of the school making her way down to the Hospital Wing. It seemed on this sleepless night she was in need of a friend, someone just to chat with for a while. Maybe about nothing, or everything.
Sam had been back at the school for around a week, and still hadn't seen her old friend Shae. And tonight, Samantha was out to find her. The first place she thought to check was the Hospital Wing. She pushed the doors open silently as ever and stepped in. Making sure not to wake anyone up. She hoped no one would be upset she came here. She hoped she wouldn't be causing any trouble. Sam figured that just like anyone else who came here, she was looking for comfort, and help. Just a different sort.
The room looked eerie as she stood there in the darkness. "Hello." She whispered to the quite, night time noises of the hospital Wing. Wondering if she would find her friend here.

"Hello" said a soft voice from over by one of the beds. Ashlle had decided to stay in the wing that night and straighten up. All the recently dismissed patents beds needed to be changed and Ashlle had wished to supervise the house Elves at there work. But she'd fallen asleep in her chair, and hadn't awoken till just now when her fellow student had walked in.
Ashlle looked at the student in the Hall and wearily got up from her chair. "You should not be up this late, Miss and certainly not with out a robe and slippers. Is there something I can do for you?"

Samantha turned looked surprised when she saw a person whom she only barely recognized, from seeing around school. She tried to think of some reason why she was down here this late but she decided that the truth would be about the only thing to do. How stupid she felt right then. She should have known she should not have walked down here this late. Ugh She thought to herself.
"Well, I, er," she stammered, "I am so sorry." She said finally, sounding worried, and a little confused. Then she rambled on. "Well, I mean, I just came down here to look for Shae, and it seems she isn't about, and I really didn't mean to bother anyone. I was just upstairs, I can't sleep, I haven't slept in a few days...But thats not the point..." She stopped suddenly and looked at the ground. "I really am very sorry. I didn't mean to bother anyone..." She said again, slowly.

Purple hair was sticking out at odd angles, as hair often did when it had been lain on, and usually bright green eyes were heavey as they peered through the wall at the sound of her name being spoken by a familiar voice.
"No trouble, Sam. I'm right here, and I can only hope of sleep, I don't get the real thing anymore. Come in and talk to me if you like," the phanomess covered a yawn lazily.
"I really am tired, but I never sleep anymore. If you would prefer, we can head back up to the commonroom, but there are comfortable chairs, and a nice warm stove down here too. Do feel free to help yourself to a clean warm blanket as well, you can't possibly be warm enough in just that," she added, shaking her long purple locks back into place, and blinking the sleep out of her eyes.
She finished coming through the wall and headed for the stove that she herself had mentioned, and sat down on the once-upholstered lounge chair that was kept in the Wing as hers. It helped to just sit sometimes, and seeing something as uncommon as a ghost doing something as common as sitting often helped other people calm down if they had never met her before.
"What's your trouble Sam?" She asked, looking over at the girl she had met one night while she was sitting in the Ravenclaw Commonroom hearth-fire.

Ashlle went to fetch the mentioned blanket and also some slipper socks. She had been about to metion the friged stones when Shae floated in. She soon returned and placed the insulating things by the seat where Miss Sam was to sit. "If you wish me to give you some privacy, I most certainly will." she said while shivering. While she'd been asleep in the chair she'd been wraped in a warm blanket, but when she'd run to get more wrappings, she'd left her own on her chair.

Samantha smiled as she saw her friend. It felt like so long since she had seen someone her had known before she left, other then Teagan and Sephe, her friends seemingly disappeared. She walked over to where Ashlle had lain down the blankets. She smiled, "Thanks you so much." She said to her, sitting down and wrapping herself up. Much warmer, she looked at Ashlle, "It doesn't bother me if you stay, but if I interrupted your sleep I am very sorry." She said pleasantly. She relaxed knowing she wasn't in any big trouble.
She looked over at Shea, and sighed. "I haven't slept in days ..." She started, "And I guess I am getting weary of sitting in the Common Room, listening to the sleeping of fellow students. It seems, I left the school, for only a month, and friends are gone, and everyone is living in fear. It's lonely here now..." She said quietly. Not sounding overly upset, just thoughtful and worried. No one wanted to tell her what was going on. She hadn't slept in days, and it was staring to become almost routine, to sit around all day, and all night. She was glad to have came down here tonight.

The ghost nodded, she knew exactly what it was like.
"Living in fear, too many people coming down here with serious injuries, sleep brings nightmares to them. I'm glad my potions can garentee a dreamless sleep for the people I give them too, but I can't just hand them out to everyone, too much is bad for them," she said, staring almost glazedly into the small flickering flame in the stove.
"I don't suppose anyone has told you why they seem to be living in fear?" She asked, looking back to Samantha.
She knew what it was to go without sleep, and the things it did to the mind. She had concocted for herself an etherial drink, one that would allow her to rest as she needed to, to sleep without sleeping as it were. But she still needed moments when the world was quiet, and she could close her eyes and at least pretend to dream.

The look in Samantha's eyes was different. She hadn't looked the same since she came back to the school. She looked tired, and worn, and as though she were stretched. No one would tell her what was going on. No one seemed to want her to know. It bothered her to watch her friends slowly diminish into little more then shadows on the walls. It worried her greatly, and terrified. She didn't realize it until then, but she was scared. For herself and for others. She didn't know what she was scared of though. Samantha knew that there was something wrong, but what, she was at a loss. "No, I do not know..." She said after listening. That made the fear a little greater, perhaps thats when she noticed a more real fear building in her. Almost now a fear to do anything. She didn't know though whether thats lack of sleep or a real feeling. Knowing so many kids must be in peril. It was all so confusing, with the Headmistress back, now what must be wrong? [ooc: my writing might be bad, its the product of no sleep, throwing up, and a depressing break up. ]

"Then I don't see why you can't sleep. I myself try to stay blissfully ignorant of what's going on between people, but I always demand to know how people got so beaten up."
The diminutive ghost leant back in her chair. She knew how easy it was for people to forget that she was actually only a little over four feet tall, the way she acted was much taller, and she was almost certainly too large for the semblance of body that she had.
Sometimes the girl wondered if she stretched, but thought that she probably didn't. Just this moment, her size - or lack thereof - seemed somehow pertinent.
"As far as I know, there's a black kind of force lurking around the grounds, which is stirring up the lycans, the vampires, the demons, and even the valkeries. As you can imagine, and see around you, this is causing quite a bit of trouble, and nervousness."
She looked long and hard and Sam, seeing every change in her face - from the almost invisible lines marked by worry to the more obvious circles under her eyes from lack of sleep.
"Will you be able to sleep now? Sound in the knowledge that you know now roughly what everyone else is afraid of? Nightmares come with knowledge, Samantha. Don't wish for it too often," the phantomess said, looking tired and slightly - pardon the pun - haunted.
She took a deep breath in, as one often does when tired, and a strange little etherial bottle floated over to her, it's contents swirling in a slightly disturbing way as she lay her face in her hands tiredly. Spying it, she mumbled something at it through her hands and one green eye watched as it floated off again.
"If you like, you can have a bed here for the night, and some of my potion for dreamless sleep. Your body needs rest, even if your mind refuses to give it. Catnaps only go so far," she added as the bottle returned, and another with it.
She waved impatiently at them when they began to orbit her head, and the real bottle went to rest on the bench while the etherial one tucked itself into a belt pouch on the ghost's waist that may or may not have been there before.
"You only need a drop of that stuff, and I recomend you get yourself onto a comfortable bed to sleep in before you take it. Are you going to be okay Sam?" The dead girl asked, concerned for the live one.

Samantha knew that now it might only get worse, Shae was right of course with the knowledge she now had, she still may not sleep. The girl was grateful for the idea of a good nights sleep and a bed, one that she wouldn't have to walk through the school for.
"Are you going to be okay Sam?" Samantha hoped she would be okay. She hoped that everything would be okay. "Yes." She said quietly. She wondered if she was to pick up the little bottle or if it would follow her. Sam looked at it questioningly. "Thank you for letting me stay down here tonight.." She said to her friend, standing up with the blanket still tucked around her shoulders.

The bottle rose when Sam did, as did the ghost.
We all just try our best, and that's all that we can do. I don't know how many people are sleeping in their beds, but apart from me and Ashlle, everyone in this part of the castle sleeps. Most of them have to, after the beatings they've taken. The dead girl thought to herself as she followed Sam to one of the beds.
"Sleep well, Sam, I'll just be here in the morning."

"Goodnight, friend." She said gratefully to Shea. She climbed into the bed, and the little potion bottle practically beat her in the forehead until she took it. "Impatient little thing.." she mumbled sleepily. Slowly, her thoughts began to mush together and she fell asleep.

(OOC: sorry i didn't reply. If you really want to know what's up Sam, Just continue this thread as if your walking up in the morning and Ashlle will tell you what she knows about what's going on.)
BIC: The moment Ashlle had sat down on the couch next to Sam she'd fallen asleep yet again, and so didn't catch the whispered conversation between Shae and her friend. If she had she would have surly had something to say about current events in the castle. But as it was she'd already wondered off with sleep.

Samantha awoke with the first rays of sun falling on her face. A smile crept along her lips, as she sat up. She was thinking of how well she slept. But when her eyes opened she realized she was not in her bed, but in the hospital wing. Disoriented for a moment, last night rushed back into her memory.
She remembered coming down to the Hospital wing looking for a friend, and soem truth. She remembered talking shortly with her friend on the happenings around the school, still though not everything fit into place. She knew that there was probably more to it then what was told. Samantha thought about Shea's words last night, "Nightmares come with knowledge, Samantha. Don't wish for it too often," Sam heard distinctly in her head. She wondered if there really was anymore to it, anything at all. She knew she could be just trying to work it up to be more then it was, but somehow it didn't seem all right.
She fell back onto the bed with a sigh. She didn't want to get up and start the day. Closeing her eyes she wondered if she could sleep the day away. She smiled at the thought. Slowly, she opened one eye and peered around the room, seeing if Ashlle or Shae, was around.

Ashlle was already up, and bustling in and out of the Potions Closet, readying it for the day. Once she'd fallen a sleep on the couch she hadn't woken till morning. She'd then gone to the Gryffindor tower to change and shower. Upon returning she began to busy herself with cleaning and sorting chores.
"Good morning Miss Sam" she said once she'd spotted her awake. "Do you feel any better? Shall I call up an oder of breakfast for you?" Truth be told Ashlle hadn't slowed down for breakfast, at least not that morning. Her stomach grumbled but Ashlle had been to busy to listen till now. "Oh, please excuse me" she said as it complained loudly.
