OOC: Just for ref, the way I write is the way my char thinks, not me, so *pleeease* don't be offended by it...
BIC: Ryuu flipped the book open, and quickly scanned the page. It was hard for him to read, but he had learned how to read a few things from his now dead father. He couldn't stand such meaningless assignments as this, as his only goal was power, but he humored the ***** anyways. What a stupid assingment, it made no sense. Oh, well, he would have to do it, anyways. He strided up to the desk, and pulled a vile from it. It couldn't be any more boring in this class. He sat upon his seat, and let fall a drop of the stupid potion upon a single hair from his head. It quickly turned a deep crimson color. This seemed unusual, but he would treat it as if it had just turned red. He quickly grabbed his quill, and wrote in messy letters, that would remind anyone of a kindergardener's:
When I let fall a drop of potion upon my hair, it turned a red color. I believe that this indication that I am brave and outspoken is quite correct. I am often not afraid of even the most powerful of enemies, and I do not care what anyone thinks when I speak. It is meaningless to one such as myself. I have often found myself picking fights with muggles, when I used to live among them. I hate everyone but those who help me obtain power.
He finished his essay quickly, and decided that it was especially good handwriting, before setting his quill in his ink bottle, allowing it to rest against the side. He leaned back in his seat, and closed his eyes, waiting for that stupid d**k of a teacher to finish grading assignments. He allowed himself to almost fall asleep, not caring about any punishments that idiot could give him.
Teacher's Notes: Short, with less than perfect examples. However, 15/20 or 75%.

After a long struggle of remembering what to do, and forgetting it many times, he finally made it back to his seat and put a drop on one of his hairs. It turned blue. After checking what blue meant again, he wrote:
When I put a drop of the potion on one of my hairs, it turned blue. This means that I am a good listener and very dependable. I find this to be correct. I always pay attention to what everybody says to me. And I consider myself to be dependable, because I can't remember a single time in which I have let somebody down. I don't think that there was ever a person who didn't find me as dependable.
Lethe set down his quill and looked at the clock, there wasn't that much time until the class ended. Suddenly he remembered that he had an assignment to do! He picked up his quill and looked down at his parchment. "Oh, oops. I guess I already did it."
Teacher's Notes: Short, yet good. Try writing more next time. 17/20 or 85%.

"SHUT UP OR DETENTION!"
"NOOOOOOOOOO!" Shazza screamed. Not Auntie Beatrice! She instantly remembered the first encounter she had with the Mean Old Hag. Being only 5 years old, upon first sight she had mistaken Auntie Beatrice for a man (who wouldn't? She was balding and had a mustache!), and said "I didn't know Auntie was married. Where is she, by the way?" Every visit since, her life had been a living hell. Then again, she had gotten so angry at her aunt during one of her visits, Auntie Beatrice really did turn into a man (accidentally, of course, but it was hysterical anyhow). Shazza was never invited to her Aunt's ever since, but just hearing her manly voice once again gave her the willies. Forcing herself out of the painful reminiscence, she opened her book, read the assignment, summoned the vial from the teacher's desk with a "Wingardium Leviosa!", and placed one drop in her hair. 'Hmm... Not a bad looking color.' she thought to herself. Then she started her assignment.
Shazzamyn Xynorek Hufflepuff House Charms assignment
After putting a drop of the reading potion on my head, my hair turned red. According to the book that means I'm "Outspoken, Brave". I don't really have much to say to that. ... Actually, now that I think about it, I do. It should be more like "says whats on her mind without really thinking it through unless it's near and dear to her heart: accident or otherwise", but that's my opinion. An unfortunate incident of mistaken identity concerning my evil Aunt is an example that backs that statement up. I guess it defines me, though. That's all, folks!
Shazza looked it over and, satisfied, turned it in.
Teacher's Notes: Nice essay, with decent examples. Although rather short, 17/20 or 85%.

And as per utter usual, the girl who deemed herself as freak was late. Yet again.
Puffing from the loss of breath up the stairs, and from losing her way to her second class, the books Carmen clutched in her grasp collapsed onto the closest available desk, her long sapphire locks falling wildly past her shoulders to frame her face. The Hufflepuff gazed around the room. There were students turning strands of their hair colours! What an odd class this was to be.
After hearing the instructions from a fellow classmate, the girl quickly flipped through the designated pages of the text, and shrugged. It seemed easy enough. The potion sitting mockingly at the edge of Carmen's table was pulled closer as a long strand was tugged from her head. Bright blue. It would have been funny if it just stayed the same. But no, that was not the case. After a second or two of being dipped into the potion, the blue hair turned a flaming orange. Cheerful and Sporty. What fun!
Now that there was a blue pen in the girl's hand, she placed it to the parchment atop the desk, and wrote the assignment results.Reading Potions Carmen Thompson Hufflepuff House.
At first, the potion seemed to be wanting to take its time to effect my clasped blue hair, but after a few seconds, it faded into a bright orange. Now, according to the text, this is supposed to mean that I am Cheerful and sporty. I guess in a way this assumption is correct, since I tend to be hyperactive at times, and am generally optimistic. But other than that, I can’t really think of a reason why my hair turned from blue to orange, apart from my pa’s hair being ginger.
But there was a time whilst I have been here at Magic Horizons where I was in a very… strange situation. I was in danger of having my head ripped off, but for some odd reason, I was fine. My head, as you might have noticed, is still in tact. At the time, I was speaking with… someone. She was rather pessimistic about a problem she was having, and I tried to help, only causing more trouble.
I guess what I can say is that I am Cheerful and Sporty, but to a certain extent. With a rather sudden sigh, the girl's head dropped to her desk with a dull thud, along with the pen, and was out like a light.Teacher's Notes: An interesting essay with decent examples. However, I politely suggest that you make your essays a teeny bit longer. 17/20 or 85%.

OOC: continued from last post!
IC:The Reading Potion turned my hair a mix of orange and red, with varying shades along the length of the hair. This may indicate that I vary in the degree of each character trait at different times, or it may have been a reaction to the colouring charm I use on my hair to make it purple. The latter would also explain the smoke that happened when I poured the potion on the hair.
The red colour indicates that I am outspoken and brave, which, being a Gryffindor, is likely to be correct. Since attending MH there have been several situations that have called on me to be brave, however, as I fear very little, maybe this cannot always be classed as true bravery. However, events of late regarding the threat to the school have meant that a great number of us have had to be brave, myself included. I am also well known for being outspoken: I always speak my mind, no matter what, much to the dismay of my mother at times when we are in 'polite company'.
The orange colour suggests that I am cheerful - which, I agree with: despite my innate cynicism, I am also an optimist in most respects, always hoping that things turn out for the best, even if I feel they might not. I also rarely let things get me down, maintaining a cheery demeanor if ever possible. The orange also suggests that I am "sporty". Again, this is most definitely correct. My father - a muggle - introduced me to many muggle sports, many of which I excel at, and others which I readily enjoy watching. Also, since arriving at MH, I have found that I am a natural at flying, including the sport of Quidditch, after having had a brief training session with my friend Aidana.
In summary, I have found that the Reading Potion is a fairly accurate test of character traits, at least in my case.
Teacher's Notes: Good writing and examples. A good length. 19/20 or 95%.

Lumiere had been sitting quietly in class as normal. She looked around the room and saw a few people that she knew but if they wanted to talk to her then she would talk back. When the homework was given Lumiere did the assignment and turned in:
Lumiere Gaston
I pulled out a few of my hairs. Then put two drops of the potion onto them. After a few minutes the hair started to turn red then quickly turned yellow. If it had been red it would have been very off course. For i am not outspoken or brave.
I do believe yellow was a good choice. I am not very not creative for i don't think creatively. Nor, do i create things well. I am quite though. i don't enjoy long conversations, they are useless. Also, too much noise agitates me.
After handing in the paper on the teacher desk Lumiere went back to her seat. And she waited to receive a score
Teacher's Notes: Interesting, good writing and examples to back up both your dislike of parts of your trait and the truth in other parts. 17/20 or 85% because of length.

Anna was beginning to zone out when a young, cool and sexy yet sinister voice hissed in her mind.
'Shut up or detention.'
The voice made her jump and a chill creep up her spine. She did not know who it belonged to, but remembered hearing it, along time ago... She looked around and saw everyone staring at each other or the teacher in fear. 'So it wasn't just me...'
'Of course it wasn't just you!' Anna jumped again, and the voice continued. 'Don't you know anything? That teacher of yours used the Messenger Spell.'
She looked around again to see if anyone else was affected by his voice, but no one seemed to notice. 'Who the hell are you?'
'Why, you don't remember? That hurts me, Anna, it really does.'
"I'm not kidding!" she said aloud in a frustrated tone, fear evident in her voice. A few people turned and stared to her, and Anna felt a small blush rise on her cheeks.
'Well done, smart one. Now people are going to think you're crazy, talking to yourself like that!'
'Why are you avoiding my question?'
'You really should get started on your assignment.'
Anna clenched her fists in anger, but then released them in realization that he, whoever the annoying prick was, wasn't going to let up.
She opened her book and read the assignment, then went up to the teacher's desk and grabbed a vial. Sitting back down at her desk she dropped a few drops on her hair and instantly saw a change in color. Agitatedly, she then began her assignment:
Anna Riley Hufflepuff Potions
My hair turned yellow, which stands for Creative and Quiet, according to the book. I don't really know about creative, but I guess I am pretty quiet. Only to people I don't know though; if you'd talk to my friends they'd probably say otherwise. When I was very young we moved around a lot so I was the outcast amongst others my age, which made me very reserved. That's about all I can think of.
'Wow, you suck at writing papers.'
'Now, who the hell are you?'
'Well, since you truly do not remember me, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Amadeus, the demon that was sealed in your body as an infant to be sacrificed. Luckily for me, your loving parents took you before that little ritual could happen, so now I have a chance of being free again.'
A tense silence.
'C'mon, you knew it would happen sooner or later! The wards were breaking and that spell your lovely teacher cast just helped it along. Remind me to thank her, by the way...'
But Anna had stopped listening a long time ago, out of shock.
Teacher's Notes: As the text did not show, the traits are on an and/or basis. You were right that you might be quiet but not creative. Good job although short. 17/20 or 85%.

Loki had found himself in yet another lesson. For him, two in one day was almost a record. His natural talent for everything magical often exempt him from most classes, and this one seemed no exception. Why, they didn't even have to brew the potion themselves! Still, it would give him a chance to earn some points for Ravenclaw. Tugging a long rather wavy blonde hair from his head, Loki poured one or two drops on it, only to see it turn a strange shade of blue-purple. He shrugged. Easy enough to write about...
Loki Nessan, Ravenclaw.
The Reading Potion transformed my hair to blue-purple. This may imply that there are aspects of both blue (which suggests that I am a good listener and/or adviser and dependable) and purple (which defines me as enjoying of luxurious things) dominant in my personality.
On the whole I feel that this reading is mostly correct. The blue shows that I am calm and intelligent and good at advising people. The latter seems to be true as I have been told since arriving at MH that I would make a good teacher after showing a fellow student better methods of performing spells. The 'listener' aspect also rings true - in the past few weeks I have been called upon to be a good friend, listening and advising on others' problems.
The purple aspect, however, does not particularly apply to myself. To the best of my knowledge, I am not a descendant of royalty (though I am from a long line of purebloods), and, while I enjoy luxurious things (and who doesn't, from time to time?) I am quite capable of doing without them, despite the fact I was raised in a luxurious environment.
It is possible that it is simply the change in hue of blue on my hair that suggests I have 'purple personality traits', however, more work may be have to be done on my family tree before this can be ruled out.[/color]
Teacher's Notes: Excellent essay. Good writing, example and length. About your purple traits: No offense meant, but perhaps you come from a line of purebloods who believe themselves to be royalty. 19/20 or 95%.

she got up and walk over to get a potion she walked back to her desk and put a drop of the potion on the hair.
(it turned yellow blue becuse i am quiet and Creative and the blue part becuse if you needed my help i would be there and i am a good listener but i am not that much as an adviser)
i really like my reading it explains me well if you wanted me to listen to something like a speach or somthing i would listen with no distracions at all if you needed my help of any sort you can count on me to help you i don't make to many freinds but i still like to make freinds i make most my freinds through my drawing anime and other stuff i draw this is the yellow part.
i belive that the potion has read me right but if you get to know me you may think its wrong by any means this potion has really shown you what i am like if you used this potion on someone else you would get to know them a bit better i think.
Teacher's Notes: Good essay. Nice examples. However, in future I would propose writing a little more and having less run-on- sentances. 16/20 or 80%.

I walked into potions. I wasn't very nervous because all potions was really was just following directions. I was very good at school work. I sometimes wonder why the hat didn't put me into Ravenclaw. Oh well. "Hi Kasmira, I'm Jade Greenwood,"She said to the teacher than took her seat

Her eyes ran over the words written in the book, missing the meaning at least twice before Daniela actually understood the text. As a lazy kind of person, she slowly stood up and walked to the teacher's table from the end of the class, picking carelessly a vial of potion and going back to her place, nearly tripping over on her way.
The blonde-haired girl lowered the vial to her hair, wandering what will the term 'blonde' be change into in a moment. She felt a cool drop landing on her head, and quickly caught a lock of her once golden hair. Daniela traced her finger on the hairs, which turned into vivid red color in a few seconds. She smirked playfully, while opening the book.
Red= Outspoken, brave
Her smirk faded away, as the blonde, or the red- head for now raised an eyebrow. While her eyes still inside the book, her hand ran over the table, reaching out for a parchment and some ink. Danni glimpsed at the ink only enough to notice its color, and started to write soon after that-
Daniela Turner Gryffindor
After putting the drop of the potion in my hair, the color was changed into a vivid red, which means that I am an out-speaking and brave person. As I see myself today, only the word 'brave' matches my character. As you see above, I am Gryffindor house student, which requires bravery to get in.
I do believe that I am a brave person, as a few months ago I went inside the tunnels of the lycans. Some people may call it stupidity, but I call it bravery to convince the lycans to keep me alive and accept to their clan, despite their attack and the pain, which was caused.
The outspoken part does not include me, I'm my point of view. I have hard time to open up to people, and to tell things about myself. Maybe I do speak a lot, but I never uncover deep secrets to anyone, and don't see my self as outspoken, though some people may object on me here.
Teacher's Notes: Great examples. The traits are on an and/or basis, so in your case you could be outspoken and/or brave. 17/20 or 85%.

Jade started reading her text book. She thought this topic was very interesting. She went up Kasmira's desk got a vile and sat down. She dropped a drop of this on her head. Her hair turned yellow.
[glow=red,2,300]Name:Jade Greenwood House:Slytherin Potions Essay
My hair turned yellow when I placed a droplet of the vile on my head. This meant that I was quiet and creative. I agree with creative because I write poetry, compositions, written word, play the piano and oboe, and I can sing too. I am very quiet, when I'm in a room of people I don't know. I also am very quiet with my feelings. I keep them all bottled up inside of me, and I lash out with anger even when I don't mean it. It's very hard to control my anger. I am very quiet because of years of isolation from my family before I came here. I didn't know how to react to people when I came to this school, so you can say I'm quiet. I am very creative as you can see. I used to write at home knowing that I have a place I can go to and always have a happy ending. I have written three books. I don't have them published yet, but I'm working on it. To conclude, the color yellow subscribes the way I am. This color goes deep down to my inner emotion which I wish I can open up[/glow]
Jade reread her essay, and admired it. She went up to Kasmira's desk and laid her essay down. "Here you are,"Jade said turning around and taking her seat.
Teacher's Notes: Wonderful essay with good examples. 19/20 or 95%.

Reading Potions Allena Gregory Hufflepuff House
In the beginning my hair was a dark blonde, but then after the potion was added it turned blue. This is supposed to mean that I am a good listener/adviser and am dependable. I see the ways this could be correct. As for the listener/adviser part. I do often listen to my friends. I also listen and pay attention to other people's complaints. I also try to help and advise people the best I can.
As for the being dependable part. I believe when I take something upon myself, such as leading a club or team, I put my all into it. I never talk about my friends behind their backs, and I am always there for them. I also am there for them no matter if we had a fight or not.
So In conclusion, I believe that when the hair turned blue it described me and my personality quite well.

Running through the hall, Belldandy silently curses herself for falling asleep during lunch. Now she's late and it's her first day in potions. She smiles at a memory of her three years ago, before she knew anything about magic or the wonderful people who use it, when she had made a 'potion' out of three different types of juice. It tasted horrible. She enters the Potions classroom and feels an unfamiliar tingle pass through her. The teacher must have just cast a spell a tiny voice in the back of her mind remarks. Oh, great! Now she probably missed some kind of instruction. It turns out that she didn't. The spell she felt was just dying when she came into the room and the teacher was speaking about reading something in the textbook. Belldandy quickly finds a seat and opens her book. She walks up to the teachers desk and takes one of the remaining vials after she reads the instructions. "Sorry I'm late, I didn't catch your name," Belldandy remarks quietly as she slowly walks back to her seat. She takes a loose hair and pulls it free of a tangle and places it on her desk, she then tips the uncorked vial slightly and two drops fall onto her hair. "Oops!" she mutters as she watches her hair. It takes a moment, but it suddenly starts flashing from blue to green to yellow and back again. Belldandy looks at the book and smiles at what it reveals. Potions: Reading Potions Belldandy Asa Ravenclaw
When I placed the potion on my hair, it actually revealed three colors: blue, green, and yellow. I believe that, instead of indicating conflict, it actually reveals a harmonious balance between the three attributes. I agree with the blue designation, for I have always preferred to listen than to talk to people- it has caused those who come to know me well to call me an 'old soul.' Blue and green play into each other with the traits of dependability and reliability. Whenever I take on a task I attempt wholeheartedly to see it through to the end- up until it is found to be impossible to do so. Green applies to me well, for I have always been attuned to the earth. Even when I was very young, I was able to determine when natural disasters were about to occur- I helped my caregivers salvage many of their valuables on several occasions before the house was hit by some angry storm or another. Yellow fits me perfectly as well, for I am an aspiring writer and I find myself hard-pressed to open up to strangers, as a result I have few friends- but all of my friends are good ones.
Once again, Belldandy thanks her foster parents for teaching her how to use words that would be well beyond her understanding otherwise, for it helped her immensely in this assignment.
