Last year, walking into Professor Romani's room was like walking into a sunlit forest glen where the sun would shine through magnificent boughs of handsome wood and dapple the desks, spilling onto the floor. Walking in was like taking a step outside, into a world far from the norm of the castle. Her walls were not made of stone or mortar, but of... everything. They were the seasons, they were nature, they were made up of serenity and captured the room and everyone in it in a complete state of tranquility. This year, was no different. Mountains had grown in the distance, the shadows were a little darker, and instead of desks, students would sit around large, circular, flat and smooth stones. She had bewitched this room, like the Great Hall's ceiling, to mirror the outside world, but she had yet to show a cloudy day. The mistress of this room, Professor Astraea Romani, was seated behind a large, flattened tree root that served as her desk, sheltered beneath the gargantuan Red Wood tree that shaded half the room quite pleasantly. Professor Romani was herself an interesting addition to this room, standing out in her pale visage. A fragile looking being, she looked much like a porcelein doll with a calm countenance that shown through her dancing, deep sapphire eyes. In the shadow of the tree, she was a manifestation of moonlight as she walked from behind her desk to the front of the class to greet her students once they had all sat down. "Welcome everyone, to Transfiguration!" Romani greeted them with a warm smile and open arms. "I am Professor Astraea Romani and this is my second year teaching here. I hope that we'll get to know each other very well as the year progresses and am confident that you will learn much and do very well in this class. I really do not have any rules, you are free to bring any snack that you wish or extra homework, but I do require that you do my assignment first. If anything should become a distraction, it shall be dealt with accordingly." As she spoke, a slight wind had picked up and played with her exquisitely long, snowy hair that trailed behind her as she walked back to her desk and leaned against it. "I grade on a 20 point system, but for some assignments I do allow for extra credit. As you can see around you, this room is bewitched and many furnishings are transfigured. This is not only for my own personal preference, but for your benefit as well. Transfiguration requires much concentration and distractions can be quite hazardous." She chuckled slightly as if remembering a past incident. "But other than that, sit where you'd like, please don't swing on the willow branches, and be careful of the brook beneath it. "Please claim a book from the stack on my desk and write your name upon the front cover, by doing so will place your name on my list. Within in it, you will find a course syllabus and two sections: The Basics and Direction, that I ask you to read before moving on to the first assignment: Knowing the Text. There are several easy questions and an essay about yourself that will help me get to know you better." Professor Romani beamed at several familiar faces and at many new, slightly nervous looking faces. She winked at them and sat behind her desk once again, folding her elegant, pale hands. www.freewebs.com/professorromani/index.htm

Kage rose carefully, walking to the front of the room and plucking a book from the stack. He returns to his desk, scribbles his name in the front, then proceeds to do the assignment.
Transfiguration-Intro Kage Akira Slytherin
1.) What is the most elementric and fail-safe way to guide your power? b. Saying object's name
2.) It is necessary to do it always. False
3.) What complexity level would a cupcake have?
Ductile
4.) What complexity level would a large marble fountain be?
Complex
5.) The longest known incantation spans over how many pages?
a. 600
Essay:
My name is Kage Akira, Slytherin House. I am 16 years old, and hail from Tokyo, Japan. My father is a somewhat-well known wizard, but better known as my Sensei, I have a black belt in Aikido, as well as in Shotokan karate. Im working on a black belt in Kendo, but Ive had to postpone that endeavor ever since coming here. I have a pet Peregrine Falcon named Hunter, who may accompany me into the classroom from time to time, whether I want him to or not. I promise he will behave, in any case.
Coming to MH has probably been one of the greatest decisions I ever made. Since Ive came here, almost everybody Ive met has been friendly and accomodating. And those who werent, well, they know better now, I hope. Ive had many adventures since coming here, ranging from going into the Forbidden Forest (not the best idea, in retrospect) to getting a girlfriend of my own. I hope that I will excel here, in this class, and make my House, and my Family, proud of me.
Very good, Kage! 5/5 out of the assignment and a very nice essay. I look forward to seeing your falcon, for I do have a partialness to birds, in class. Full Marks.

Athena smiled and took a book then took a seat next to Kage. She then proceeded to put her name in her book. Athena Takadea Gryffindor Athena closed the book for a moment while she pulled out some parchment and began the personal essay. She would read the first two sections after that was done. Transfiguration Gryffindor Student Athena Takadea Essay-Personal Essay My name is Athena Takadea and I am a Gryffindor Student. I am seventeen years old and probably the oldest first year student here. Up until this point I have spent my entire life with Muggles in a foster care home. I am the oldest of the children so I have always taken care of them and have come to be protective by nature. Most of the people I have met I have become fiercely loyal to and would do anything for them. I believe that I can do well here and will try my best here although I am afraid that my lack of knowledge on the Magic World may cause me to wonder about many things. I will try my best not to allow myself to become surprised at what may happen in this class. Athena looked over at Kage and smiled before opening the book and beginning to read. Not to worry, you've come to the right place to learn about the Magical World But where is the text assignment? 15 points.

Ribbon followed Athena and Kage to the stack of books and claimed the next on the pile as her own. She thought silently to herself, third ones the charm, and giggled mentally at the pun. She chose the seat on the other side of Kage and scrawled her name carefully on the front cover. Ribbon Valedrawn Slytherin Essay: My name is Ribbon Valedrawn. I have lived in Del Mar, California, all my life. I am muggle-born and my family breeds and trains rare horse breeds on our ranch. Because of the business I have been trusted to act responsibly and make good choices in my actions and have been helping my parents since a very young age. At my arrival to MH I was a little worried that I wouldn't make any friends because I was quite an introvert. Fortunately many people didn't wait for me to introduce myself and now I feel that I have become far less drawn inside myself. I really enjoy just being with all my friends and this sounds really corny but making new ones as well. I hope to do well in Tranfiguration because even though I have not decided what I'd like to do after I graduate, it is a subject that could be useful in many walks of life. 1.) What is the most elementric and fail-safe way to guide your power? b. Saying object's name 2.) It is necessary to do it always. True False3.) What complexity level would a cupcake have? Ductile 4.) What complexity level would a large marble fountain be? Complex 5.) The longest known incantation spans over how many pages? a. 600 After completing the assignment Ribbon began to aimlessly flip through the pages of her text. My, horses are beautiful creatures, you are lucky to be able to care for them I'll let you in on a little secret, in the glen behind my desk and at the edges of the forest, unicorns come in and out, especially if the class is in a really good mood. But becareful not to draw attention to them, they'll hide back into the forest. 4/5 otherwise, lovely name by the way. 18 pts.

Post by Marina Roeswood on Sept 6, 2004 17:10:18 GMT
The summer had flown by in such startling speed that Marina could barely comprehend that she was back in a classroom. The expression on her face was nothing short of dazed as she dully took in the suntanned faces of her peers, many of which had just returned from pleasant vacations with family. Nina herself had been restrained to the building for the entire year, and she looked rather pale and worn, obviously a bit ill. Coughing lightly into the palm of her hand, it only just dawned on her that she was developing her customary beginning of the year cold. With all these students flooding the school at once, they were all exposed to various viruses that they all carried, a condition that would die down once everyone was treated for whatever ailment they had.
Although her surroundings were marvelous, she found that she wasn’t too distracted, and she rifled through the pages of her textbook while she waited for the teacher to start the class. Marina, of course, had been not only on time but a few minutes early, managing to catch a spot near to the front and center in the work of art in which she would be studying. Nina had never been a particularly strong Transfiguration student, but she’d been practicing over the summer. She might not be as gifted as many, though, this was a written assignment, and this would be exceedingly easy. Dipping the tip of her quill in her favorite green ink, she set to work on the paper, writing slowly so the low quality of her handwriting was converted into neat, clean print.
1.) B 2.) False 3.) Ductile 4.) Complex 5.) A
Getting to know me By Marina Roeswood
Well, as you know by now, I am Marina Roeswood. I am a Slytherin Prefect, and also a beater for the Quidditch team. I am generally accepted as a very intelligent and studious person, and I enjoy reading and playing Quidditch in my spare time. My dream would be to be successful beyond measure, and respected and renowned for whatever skills I shall possess when I am older. I do consider myself to be a very ambitious witch, and with my goals in the foreground of my mind at all times, I am rarely ever off task. I would like to think that I’m a humble person even if I’m a little full of myself at times, and I’m very competitive, though I pride myself in not being a sore loser.
I suppose my worst fear would be to have all of my effort amount to nothing, though somehow, I doubt that will happen. In the mean time, I do my absolute best to be a good student and now, a good Prefect. All I want to do is turn out in a way that would make my parents proud, even if they are no longer around to see watch me grow up. I suppose that’s enough about me already, especially since this is not my first year as your pupil. Hopefully we’ll have many opportunities to learn more about each other over the course of the year, and I’ll try my best to be a star pupil.
Very, very good Marina! Full marks for you, 5/5 and a very nicely written essay. You sound like a very confident person and talented too, I was able to see you play in a few Quidditch games last year. 20 pts.
Setting the quill temporarily into the inkbottle that still had the stopper off; she glanced over the paper, searching for flaws quickly while the ink dried. Satisfied that it was as close to perfect as it was getting, she handed the paper in, hoping that she’d get a decent mark on her work, and that she hadn’t written a bit too much about herself. She didn’t want to come off as narcissistic, of course, but perhaps the Professor Romani would like to be assured that at least one of her students would be invariably on task.

Mary came right after her, she took a book and opened the first page...she glared it seemed quite difficult. Mary sat in her place and started writing:
Transfiguration-Intro: Mary Turner-Gryffindor
1. B-saying object's name
2. False
3. Ductile
4. Complex
5. A-600
Essay:
My name is Mary Turner and I lived in New York until I came here. Most of my family are muggles but I'm a half blood because of my mother. My all family are doctors, they wanted me to become one too but I chose to come the MH. I'm fourteen but not to mature to my age, sometimes people are saying that I'm acting like a five year old kid.
I decided to came to MH because I feel that I have to spend time with people like me, I met a few people that made me feel really good and I'm sure that my choice was right. I want to study Transfiguration because I think it'll be useful for me in the future, it's only my first year and I want to take the most useful classes on my opinion, that way it'll be easier for me to choose my profession in the future.
I'm sure that you'll find that Transfiguration most definitely comes in handy in the real world. I'm also glad to hear that you were welcomed warmly, that makes me proud. 5/5 and 14 for the essay, 19 pts. all together.
Mary sighed she wrote really slow but finally she finished…she opened the book and started to read waiting for teacher's instructions.

A girl with french-braided pig-tails claimed a stone seat. After listening to Prof. Romani she stood up when her name was called, uncrumpled her pleated skirt, and grabbed a book. Returning to her seat she scratched her named on the front, and grabbed a piece of parchment and began the assignment. 1.) What is the most elementric and fail-safe way to guide your power? b. Saying object's name 2.) It is necessary to do it always. False 3.) What complexity level would a cupcake have? Ductile 4.) What complexity level would a large marble fountain be? Complex 5.) The longest known incantation spans over how many pages? a. 600 Essay Tell me about yourself. In a paragraph or two tell me what sort of things make you, you. My name is Skarlet M’orrigan, I’m 16 years old and starting my first year at Magic Horizons. I won’t spend much time on my physical appearance, because in my opinion the appearance of someone usually is misleading. What makes me, me is my very independent character and firm morals. I’m a huge woman’s rights activist, along with being a Witch activist, since a lot of spiritual people tend to hold animosity against us. Another thing that makes me that person that I am, and I don’t look for sympathy for this, but my dream is to become an Auror; to defend the innocent, especially against Death Eaters. I have experienced pain, and watched my sister suffer for 20 minutes before she finally died. As I said before I don’t look for sympathy. The last thing that makes up me is that I’m telepathic, it’s a burden sometimes, but I do appreciate it. Those are the important details that make me the person that I love today.
You've seen quite a lot, Miss M'Orrigan, things that people should never have to witness. You have strong opinions and morals, do you have any qualms about changing the attributes of creatures and living things? Last year, we came across certain ethical problems, so I hope that we don't run across any of those in lessons to come. Perhaps you would like to get in contact with our resident Aurors. Hikalyn from Slytherin is the Head Auror, and Rowan and Jade Cross from Ravenclaw are also Aurors. 5/5, 20 pts.
Skarlet shakily wrote the last paragraph, at least no one else would read it.

Eleanor smiled as she entered the Transfiguration classroom, enjoying the change from the many generic desk-filled classrooms. Professor B.'s classroom had been her first experience with that sort of thing, but she quickly found that she was much more comfortable with the natural setting than what she had previously been exposed to. It had probably taken a lot of hard work to accomplish such a decor. She found herself harboring an immense respect for Professor Romani as she took a book, neatly writing her name on the front in the same violet ink she had started the day with. The jar was nearly half-empty...had she really written that much already? As was her habit, Eleanor opened the book to the page of questions first, writing each down with space for an answer before flipping back to read the actual assigned text. She had quickly discovered that it was easiest for her to remember what she was supposed to be looking for that way, rather than paging eternally back and forth between the questions and reading material. 1.) What is the most elementric and fail-safe way to guide your power? Saying object's name2.) It is necessary to do it always. False3.) What complexity level would a cupcake have? Ductile4.) What complexity level would a large marble fountain be? Complex5.) The longest known incantation spans over how many pages? Six hundredEssay Question: My name is Eleanor Sel'shea. This is my first year at Magical Horizons school, but I am already glad that I decided to come here. My favorite subjects are Divination and Care of Magical Creatures. My grandmother was a Seer, and she would always talk to me about what she Saw and helped me try. My parents raised creatures for a living and a hobby, helping to train stubborn work animals or to tame beasts that had taken to attacking people of the town. They were not always successful, but I learned from them that not everything with a dangerous and fearsome appearance is necessarily like that. Everyone has their own reasons for doing things, even creatures. We shouldn't try to change them to make things easier for us, but attempt to understand them and treat them with respect.Nice job Miss Sel'Shea, 5/5 and 20 pts all together I must make certain though... we will be transfiguring living creatures in upcoming lessons, will there be a problem? She rose from her awkward kneeling position by one of the smooth boulders, gazing absently into the seemingly-endless mountainous skyline before setting the parchment on Professor Romani's tree stump desk silently. She returned to her bag, putting away her things before walking a few paces to the brook. Eleanor leaned over the bank a bit, looking down into the clear waters. It was so natural...

1. B- Saying object's name 2. False 3. Ductile 4. Complex 5. A- 600
Personal Essay by: Silmarwen Tîwele
My name is Silmarwen Tîwele (Earth Dancer),of Hufflepuff house.I am 14 years old.I was raised with my family in the palace of Sindarin, and am third in line for the Sindarin throne.I am a naturally quiet person, but I do not miss much.I was taught from an early age to be observant, quiet, unobtrusive, and polite. When making any choices I try my hardest not to be bias.I also try to behave towards others as I would have them behave towards me.
I came to MH to learn as many different forms of magic as possible. As well as to get a more open perspective on the world, and the people living in it.When I start something I almost always finish it,and when doing anything I put forth my greatest effort.I learn quickly, and except all constructive criticism as a part of life and growing to maturity. You will find that if I make any mistakes I will learn quickly from them and not repeat them twice. You sound like you'd be an excellent addition to my class, welcome to MH . 5/5, 20 pts.Carefully placing her quill on the stone desk she re-read her essay.Satisfied that it was as good as it was going to get, she stood up and walked to the teachers desk. With a confident smile she turned in her assignment, and walked back to her seat.

Genevieve slowly walked to the front of the room causiously picked up a text book before returning to her seat to write her assignment. She picked up a quill and a piece of parchment, then began to write slowly making sure everything came out right....
Assignment #1: Transfiguration - Intro
1) B. saying object's name 2) False 3) Ductile 4) Complex 5) 600
Essay: My name is Genevieve Aglaia Selene. My middle and last name mean splended moon. I am muggle born and have lived in the muggle world for most of my life. Shy by nature, I was often teased for being small for my age, clumsy, and "strange". A few years ago, the 'strange' label was added when 'things' started happening to people who teased me. In turn I became a loner, due to the fact no one would talk to me. None of which made sense until I recieved my letter from MH. My parents were thrilled and I (naturally) was scared of how everything would work out. Once at MH, I have noticed that I feel a little less strange and I'm working on my shyness.
I love to fly and hope to be a seeker on my house team(my house being Gryffindor). Flying is the one thing that makes me seem graceful. With the exception of flying, I don't like to be the center of attention and I love quiet.
Well done, Miss Selene, I hope you do your best to get the position you want. 5/5 20 pts.
Genevieve quickly wrote her name in her book... Genevieve Selene Gryffindor
... and calmly began to read her book.

Roan wandered into the Transfiguration room, almost bouncing. This was his favorite, and best, subject. Giving Professor Romani boyish grin, he settled into his seat. This class is FAR better than Charms. Any day. he thought. He didn't even mind the non-practicle essence of this lesson's content. He was simply happy to be back. Grabbing a peice of parchment and a quill, he quickly dove to work, with a fervor he never had in any other class. 1.) What is the most elementric and fail-safe way to guide your power? b. Saying object's name 2.) It is necessary to do it always. TrueFalse3.) What complexity level would a cupcake have? Ductile 4.) What complexity level would a large marble fountain be? Complex 5.) The longest known incantation spans over how many pages? a. 600 Me By Rowan Shadowglen My name is Rowan Shadowglen. I come from a long line of pureblood Slytherin families, but I didn't know it until I started here at MH. My father is a squib, and my mother a muggle. My father was cast out in exile after it was discovered he was a squib. He considers it a high act of mercy that he is still able to use the Shadowglen name. I didn't know anything about the magical world until I got my letter, because my father, in a jelous fit, tried to keep the heritage from me. He was very mad to find that I have discraced the name Shadowglen further by being sorted into Ravenclaw. Personally, I am happy to do anything that annoys him. I am now 16 years old, and am one of the youngest Aurors at the Ministry. I have befriended Valkeries and Lycans alike, and count myself lucky to have known them. My favorite class is Transfiguration, because I can do it well. I cannot cast a single charm to save my life. This goes for Curses and Hexes too, making my job as an Auror complicated. Kaiser the Valkerie, however, taught me some things that have proven very useful. I have even taken a page from the Lycan's book too, if you know what I mean. I look foreward to applying to the Shadow Legion when I graduate. 4/5. It's good to see you back Mr. Shadowglen, I look forward to another year of having you in class 19 pts.
