Artemis stepped onto the quidditch pitch and smiled. They could finally start working toward their goal; the quidditch cup. She was certain they would win this year. The Slytherin girl set the box of balls on the ground and mounted her broom, slowly ascending to look over the sides of the stadium. There wasn't many students out today, just the occasional person by the lake. Although, that might've been some Slytherin players, over there in the distance...
Deciding to warm up, Artemis pushed the nose of her broom toward the bottom of the pitch and eased herself into a dive and pulled out of it when her feet were just inches from the ground. She pushed her worries about the first match to the back of her mind and began streaking around the pitch, a green and silver blur. After a few minutes of this, she desended and grabbed a quaffle from the box that held the rest of the quidditch balls, letting her hands avoid the bludgers as much as possible; she liked to let the beaters handle those. She'd experienced to many injuries from those to be careless with them. Artemis started at one of the goal hoops, dodging imaginary foes and easily tossed the red ball into the middle hoop.
After scoring about half a dozen hoops in various manners, Artemis glanced again at the box laying on the pitch. She flew down and replaced the quaffle in it's place in the box and drew the snitch from it's. She memorized what it looked like, and what it felt like in her hand. She then let it go. The snitch hovered in the air for a second, the zipped out of sight. Artemis mounted her broom again and rose into the air, her eyes darting around looking for the snitch. A golden flash glinted near a goalpost across the pitch. Artemis streaked toward it, her eyes carefully trained on the glint. The faint glimmer of light raced her around the pitch; diving and ascending all with a speed that seemed unreal. Just when she was about to give up, Artemis felt herself closing in on the tiny ball. She gave a huge burst of speed and before she knew it the snitch was struggling in her hand.
Slowly descending to the box below, Artemis grinned as the ball stopped struggling. That hadn't been as hard as she'd thought, and her heart was still pounding with adrenaline. After replacing the snitch in it's place, she set her broom on the soft grass and wrapped her robes around her, a light wind rising to blow her hair. Artemis watched for her fellow players as the sun began rising higher in the sapphire sky.
ooc: Alright everyone, let's win the cup.
