It was a cold and slightly foggy morning when Faye finally decided to hold the tryouts for the Hufflepuff Quidditch team. Since she had not even been at the school last year, she had requested in her flyer that all the old members from last year return and try out again with the new ones. She didn't know how good anyone was, so she didn't just want to give any old players their spots back immeadiatly. It was going to take a bit more work than that.
In her right hand she held her own broom, a fairly nice Nimbus 2000. In the other hand she dragged a chest, full of one snitch, four beaters and numerous amounts of quaffles. She put the chest right at the edge of the field and then inhaled deeply. Pulling her Hufflepuff robes a little tighter around her body, she shivered a little bit but quickly got over it.
On the clipboard she wrote her own name under captain. The position that she would be playing wasn't clear yet, though she was best as a chaser. It was really best to wait though, and find out what positions she needed.
It was a perfect morning for the tryouts. With a clipboard in hand, she waited for any Hufflepuff that showed up.

The first student to arrive that misty morning was Eleanor, hastening across the dewy pitch with her Cleansweep tucked securely under her right arm. The girl panted as she came to a stop before Faye, smiling slightly at their new captain. She hadn't been on the team the previous year, but fancied herself a rather skilled flier. She had no preference of position, either - anything that wasn't taken would be good enough for the eager girl. Her brown eyes were wide with surprise as she saw that not one other student had shown up for the tryouts. It was still early yet, she conceded, nodding silently to herself as she thought. Just then remembering that she probably appeared to be stiff for not addressing Faerlain, Eleanor's round face broke into a wide, toothy grin.
"Well, good morning to you!" She took a large breath of fresh morning air, cheeks rosy red from her jog across the length of the field. "How many are you expecting today?" The Hufflepuff shifted her broom from being lodged between her bicep and body to an anxious grip in her hands, fingers fiddling with each other every so often. She couldn't bear to wait much longer...

She sighed, glancing down at her clipboard. It had been more than ten minutes and so far she only had one Hufflepuff show up to try out. Quite depressing. They really would get stomped this year if more people didn't take an initiative to come on out and give it a try. Shrugging and attempting to be optimistic, she smiled and scribbled down Eleanor's name upon her clipboard.
"More than is here now." She said with a shrug as she reached for her own broom. Gently mounting it, she proceeded to hover a few feet above the ground, slowly and carefully making her way over to the box full of different types of Quidditch balls.
"Do you have any particular position you'd like to try out for?" She asked kindly, figuring that if she didn't there was a host of things she could try to figure out which would be best for her.

Bree walked out onto the the field with her Hufflepuff quidditch robes on from last year still fitted just right.
"Hey Faerlain I wanted to talk to you about Quidditch Captain, I was wondering if I could take that spot, you know, I really would like to be Quidditch Captain and play Seeker or Chaser, which ever spot I do best at" Bree said with a smile

She pondered for a few moments, then grinned and tossed the clipboard to Bree.
"Sure, mi amigo." She said as she swooped up a few more feet on the broom. "But I suppose you'll have to play a position as well, it looks like we're running rather short on players this year."

Eleanor blinked as the clipboard changed hands, a bit shocked. Would Bree be conducting tryouts, then? It was a bit confusing for the poor girl. Glancing between Faerlain and the new captain as she spoke, a slight red flush came to her cheeks.
"Well, I think I'd make a decent Chaser, or maybe a Beater...I wasn't here last year, but I'll take whatever's open." She repeated the last statement emphatically, wanting to make sure they both knew she wouldn't make a fuss about her position - just being able to play was great enough for her.

Bree smiled at Faelain, she was always so nice to her and everything. "Thank you Faerlain, but I will need help you know, would you like to help be out with it all?" Bree asked hoping Faerlain would say yes.
Bree turned to the new girl "I am sorry I don't believe we have met I am Bree" Bree said smiling "Chaser or Beater hey, Well I was a beater last year when we won, for that you have to be quick but I guess you really have to be quick with every spot on the team" Bree said
"I think we should post another letter up in the Common room about this" Bree smiled

Eleanor nodded in ready agreement to Bree's statement - no matter what, she would have to always be watching, always be ready to react; to plan her next move. It was like a giant logic puzzle in some ways, which suited the girl just fine. Getting a sinking feeling that there wouldn't be any proper tryouts unless more people started to show, the dark-haired girl situated herself on a pitchside bench to wait. Who wouldn't want a spot on the Quidditch team? Eleanor shook her head in frustration - lazy gits, that was it. Too lackluster to get themselves up a few hours early on a weekend to participate in one of the best things about the wizarding world. Lazy gits, again.

Bree looked at Eleanor and smiled "You have taken your time to come here and as it seems you really want to play, You can be a Chaser, a Beater or a Keeper, the chose is yours and you can have that spot" Bree said smiling really likely the fact that Eleanor really wanted to play.

Eleanor was taken aback for the second time in so many minutes, surprised that Bree would let her take a pick of positions before even seeing how well she could fly.
"I fancy Chaser a bit more than Beater, I suppose," She smiled back at Bree, glad to be taken seriously about her efforts. "But it's for you to decide - there might be people better than I am." She reminded the captain with a small smile, not wanting to be presumptous about much of anything.

Bree smiled at Eleanor by how she really wanted the try-outs to be fair and Bree liked that in her.
Bree looked at Faerlain and then at Eleanor "Well I don't believe these try-outs should finish now, why don't we have a little ride and throw the ball around for a bit and then Eleanor I can see how your flying is and how you throw the ball around and then me and Faerlain will see if we think you will be better at Chaser or Beater, how does that sound?" Bree asked them both

Eleanor nodded, grabbing her broom so that she could get into the air easily once Bree decided that it was time to start.
"Ready when you are," She assured the captain, grinning broadly. Even though no one else had shown up, she was still getting a good chance...her luck seemed to be right on that day.

ooc: I know I'm late but better late than never...
IC:
Lita ran hurriedly towards the quidditch pitch. I hope I'm not too late she thought to herself as she spotted a couple of Puffians. Slowing down slightly, she finally arrived albeit breathlessly. "Hey, I'm sorry I'm late. Can I still try out? I was hoping to make seeker." she said in one breath. Her small and light frame was a definite plus, and she had always had a keen eye for spotting things other people usually missed. And of course she'd always loved flying.

Silver placed her brand-new Wildwind 600 broomstick on her shoulder as she strode out onto the Quidditch Pitch, her silvery hair whipping her face as the wind blew it.
She didn't care. Thanks to a little pushiness from a stressed-out Vampire, her life had been changed by the discovery of Quidditch - Ace, the Quidditch Captain of the time, had forced her to play the moment she'd walked through the school doors, allowing Hufflepuff to win the Quidditch Cup in their final match. From that moment, she was hooked, and a little wind wasn't going to scare her away from doing what she loved best.
"Reporting for duty, Cap'n," Silver addressed Faerlain. She presumed she was the Captain - after all, she was the one carrying the clipboard. Silver smiled broadly at the rest of her future team-mates. She was never usually this confident... but the feel of her trusty broom on her shoulder filled her with an unusual burst of character. "Sorry I'm a bit late."
