ooc: Okay, if you're new to this, then read the Rules of Roleplaying Quidditch, which is on the Quidditch Pitch. Then, just walk onto the pitch and play the position that you want.
bic: Artemis walked onto the pitch, her broomstick in one hand and a box of Quidditch balls under another. Setting the box down, she grinned and looked around the stadium. It had been so long since she'd been here last, it almost felt like an eternity. A gentle breeze rose up and fluttered her hair, almost like it was welcoming her back.
We're going to win the Cup this year. She thought to herself as she mounted her broom and rose off the grass of the stadium and began doing some laps around the field, going so fast she nearly couldn't see. After a while, she decended to the ground and sat down on the grass, waiting for people to come for the tryouts.

Kage strolled casually across the Pitch, his Firebolt resting across his shoulders. He glances down at Artemis, "Why are you sitting down there?" He asked.

Kody walked out onto the pitch, her broom in one hand, and a beater's club in the other. She looked around at the stadium and took in a deep breath of the fresh air. She walked over to where Artemis and Kage was standing and set the objects down. "So another year. I thought I might try out for the team, seeing as I'm now prefect," she said, grinning happily.

Of course Marina was here. This would be her second year on the quidditch team, provided she made it, but why wouldn't she? She had done nothing but well during the quidditch season, and she had a history of being on time to practices and games. Perhaps she was somewhat cocky in the assumption that she would make the team, but it wasn't like she didn't normally have a rather high opinion of herself.
Her Nimbus 2000 might have been considered as old to some people, but she liked it just as well. It was worlds better than that Cleansweep 6 she'd played on originally, and she had enough of a mind not to waste her entire inheritance on one little broom. Her parents had made the mistake of leaving their rather small fortune to her name specifically, so she had complete control over the funds in Gringotts, in what was now her own vault.
Marina grinned and waved amiably at her old friend Artemis, walking up to her and glancing at the sky above them. It was a beautiful blue, its perfection interrupted at random intervals by puffy white clouds that floated on the breeze. Setting her broom down gently in the grass, along with a rather battered looking beater's bat, she surveyed the quidditch pitch carefully, almost looking for something out of place that could be a hazard, her green eyes looking more vibrant as the sunlight glinted off her her irises. Seeming satisfied, she ran one hand absentmindedly over her hair, which was currently pulled into a tight bun at the back of her head.
"Fantastic day, isn't it?" she asked casually, looking completely content for once instead of serious. Nina loved quidditch almost more than anything else, and she didn't look in the mood to deal out punishments. Rather, she wanted to get her own opinion on who would be good on the team. Though, she reminded herself, her position as beater was not secure, which scared her. She couldn't even consider the possibility that she wouldn't be able to play...

Post by Hikalyn Sarello on Sept 18, 2004 7:10:51 GMT
The morning of the tryouts, Hikalyn was up early as usual, though admittedly pulling herself out of bed this morning had been something of a chore. She'd put in a few hours at the Ministry last evening and had stayed in longer than she'd intended, the result being that she'd managed to get only limited sleep. Still, by the time she had dressed, grabbed a bite to eat and set out on her way to the pitch, she was more or less awake. The feel of clear morning air on her face, chill with the bite of early autumn, did much to help chase that sleep-fuzzed feeling away. Now she walked briskly, the Firebolt that Meriel had given her for Christmas tucked comfortably under her left arm.
Kalyn was no stranger to the Quidditch game. When Mer had still been captain of the team, the black-haired Slytherin had played the positions of both Keeper and Chaser, though it had been the latter of the two that she had played most often. After Meriel's graduation, Hikalyn had replaced her friend as Seeker. Slytherin had done well overall, winning two out of its three matches and placing second in the competition for the Quidditch Cup. This year, though, she was determined that it would be their house name ingraved into the Cup that was now no doubt proudly displayed in the Hufflepuff common room.
She was mildly surprised and somewhat disappointed that there were only four other figures milling about the pitch so far; she had been hoping that more would show up. But then, there was nothing saying that more people wouldn't. It was still early, after all.
Two of those hanging about she recognized, though she knew neither very well. The girl, Kody, was the latest addition to the rank of Prefect. It took her a minute to place the boy, but she finally remembered him as one of those who had been present during that near-fight at the lake.
Offering the pair a brief nod in greeting, she turned her attention to the two that she really did know--Artemis, the captain of the team, and Marina, one of their capable Beaters. "Morning, guys," she called with a grin and a wave, breaking into a jog and stopping when she stood about level with her friends. Her hair, done up into a ponytail instead of falling free around her shoulders as she usually left it, bounced energetically as she moved. "So how is everyone?" Her gaze included everyone in the question, but her attention was focused mostly on Artemis and Marina.

Kage shrugged, "Im ok." He said. He spun the Beater's club he now held between his fingers in an almost detached fashion.

Artemis smiled at Kalyn, whom she hadn't seen much since the last Quidditch game. "Hey Kalyn, Nina. I hope you guys kept up on practicing this summer. We are not going to get beat again by the 'Puffs this year." The prefect glanced around at the other people on the pitch. The other three had beaters bats, so it would have to be narrowed down. She bent down to the box of balls at her feet and opened it, the two bludgers shaking the box as they fought to get out.
The dark haired girl opened the latches that were seperating the bludgers from the open air, and they both shot into the sky. Pausing for a moment to remember the boy's name, she gave instructions to the beaters, "Okay, Nina, Kody and Kage, you three mount your brooms and show me what you've got."

Kage tapped his Beater's club to his forehead in a bizarre salute before mounting his broom and kicking off. "Hehe." Kage chuckled to himself as the Beater's sought him out, him currently being the only flying target. He hadnt had Bludgers attack him since he had been training last, course, then he had had twice as many bludgers streaking about. Kage's brief reminiscence was abruptly interrupted when a Bludger decided that his head made a tempting target, so he swung his club and..... CRACK! the offending bludger soared the length of the field, flying through the center Goal on the far end of the field.

Kody grinned as she dropped her walking stick and mounted her broom, now holding a beater's club. She spiraled upward and clutched her club, watching for a bludger, grinning maniachly. She glanced around the field and saw Kage smack one of the bludgers through one of the hoops. She cheered silently for her friend as she heared a wooshing sound behind her. Dodging quickly, she wheeled around and sent the bludger flying towards the other end of the field. Her aim wasn't great, but it was her first time hitting a bludger. She swung around and scanned the sky for the other Bludger.

"Quite well, thank you," Marina told her old friend Hikalyn only a few moments after the question had left her mouth. Her mind was somewhat preoccupied with the fact that there were three beaters here, and only two positions on the team. That prospect was scary, because she knew that no matter how confident she was, her position on the team was not set in stone. She looked cheery all the same, and as soon as Artemis made a move for the trunk that contained the struggling bludgers, Nina was already mentally preparing herself, forcing herself into a state of focus that few girls her age could achieve. It was incredibly useful for quidditch and test taking, and also for blocking things out.
The instructions were met with Marina instantly mounting the broom, her right palm closed around the handle of the beater's bat, and then kicking up powerfully, raising herself into the air at incredible speed. Her small stature was the kind that was often looked for in Seekers, but as a beater, she posessed incredible agility and aim, though she had to put more of her weight behind her swings.
Her green eyes searched around for the bludgers, but it seemed that Kage had beat her to the first, and it was already at the other end of the pitch. Though, her disappointment was quickly removed when the other bludger, then zooming idly through the air, decided to come within her reach. She saw it a few moments before it even came close, and without any hesitating, she clasped both hands around the bat and swung hard. The ball soared in the other direction with a loud, audible thud, and she took a moment to congratulate herself as she watched the bludger soar a bit past the hoops, missing them entirely as she had not been aiming at anything in particular.
Nina was almost knocked from her broom, but at the last moment she sensed movement behind her head and ducked, spinning the broom in a neat about face and swinging blindly. The contact was solid, and sent the bludger towards the other end of the pitch, narrowly missing going through the goal post furthest to the left.

Rose made her way to the quidditch pitch for try-outs. She had been an unbeaten Seeker at her last school, but her passion was Chaser. She was a great flyer and very fast on her Firebolt and her thin frame helped her to be more streamline on the broom. She arrived at the pitch surveying the people around her. There were already some beaters in the air and a few other talking about. You made your way towards the person that you believed to be in charge. “Hi, I’m Rose, Rose Arcana.” she said as she held out her hand for a handshake. “I am a great Seeker, but I am pretty good at Chaser and fair at Keeper. Are there any positions that you are more in need of?” she questioned looking at all the beaters and being glad she didn’t play that position.

ooc: been sick. v. sick.
bic:
Sharade brought her broom out of the trunk. Looking at it critically, she grabbed the cloth near her, and rubbed a few non-existent spots.
"Better." Jumping off her bed, she walked through the entrance to Slytherin.
She looked around cautiously before deciding. The halls were deserted. She shrugged, not much caring what happened. "What the hell."
Casually, she swung her leg over her broom, and pushed off. Ducking the arch, she span around her broom and swayed, missing a statue's outstretched arm. She smiled, though it was more of a baring of her white teeth than anything else. She stopped and hung at the top of a dome, quiet as possible, before the figure continued on their merry way. Continuing at her breakneck pace, she flew over the batiments to the Pitch.
She slowed down, and sat on her broomstick crosslegged. "Hey." Turning round her broom, she watched the Beaters, wincing at a particularly loud crack.
ps ooc: does every one have to try out? I am, because I wasn't much use last time, but do the original members have to?

ooc: I'd like it if you'd try out, but if you were on the former team and played in a game, then it's probably not nessicary. You can if you'd like though. bic: Artemis watched as the three beaters soared easily around the pitch, sending the bludgers careening around the stadium. She pulled herself away from watching when another girl addressed her. "Hello, Rose. I'm Artemis, team captain for Slytherin. So you're a seeker, eh? Well, I think it'd be best if you played chaser for the moment, if that's okay with you." The girl flashed a quick smile at the other girl before turning to Sharade, who she'd seen flying closer out of the corner of her eye. "Hey, Sharade. It's been a long time." Artemis absently tucked a loose strand of hair behind an ear. "So, do you want to play chaser? We have more than enough beaters up there already." She added with a grin.

ooc: I will. Otherwise it doesn't seem fair. (Actually I'm not really a fair person in real life or otherwise but my mother's taking me to the shrink who told me to be considerate of other's. Has anyone noticed it's really hard?). So guys my spot is up for grabs.
bic:
Sharade inclined her head to Artemis. "Artemis." She looked up at the sky, finding the girl to be correct. "Chaser will suit fine, thank you."
She grabbed the Quaffle from the box at Artemis's feet. "Shall we play? I am not up to playing on my own." She stepped on her broom, and patiently waited until it rose to the height of the hoops. She casually lobbed the ball through one of the nearest, and turned her broom so that she would be waiting where it fell.
It came at her, and dropped, gravity having it's say on the Quaffle. She followed, head opposite the Quaffle, in their downward race to terra firma. She saw the ground rushing up, and snatched the Quafflejust as she pulled up, a short foot from the ground. She twirled up again, and span upsidedown to dodge a bludger. She frowned momentarily. The object of the Beater position was to keep the damn balls away from people, not chat.
Sharade threw the ball as far as she could, and descended so that she was resting inside the topmost hoop. Dismounting, she put her back against the inside to watch the proceedings.

Artemis watched as Sharade dodged around for a few moments, until she decided she was done watching people. With a quick smile to the people remaining on the ground, she mounted her broom and kicked off the ground. She easily caught the farmiliar form of the quaffle when Sharade threw the ball. She tucked it securely under her arm before pulling into a steep dive. Her broomstick carried her almost all the way to the ground before Artemis pulled up and into a roll, dodging invisible opponents. It was almost too late when she saw a bludger hurling towards her, and she had to swerve to avoid a broken bone of some sort. Quickly glancing around to see what the beaters were doing, she pushed the close call to the back of her mind for the moment.
After lightly pushing her broom into a tight loop, Artemis slowed down every so slightly to aim the quaffle at the left goal hoop. The ball sailed through, barely skimming the rim of the hoop. Smiling to herself, the girl pushed her broom to get to the quaffle before it hit the ground. She scooped it up with one hand before slowly rising in height until she was even with Sharade.
