The slight figure of a Slytherin Prefect came striding onto the pitch, a broomstick held in one hand. The girl mounted the broom and rose high into the clear summer sky, a soft breeze picking up to flutter a few strands of hair annoyingly in her face. Brushing the behind her ear, Artemis began streaking around the pitch as fast as she could, grinning at the thrill of being in the air again. Quidditch season was over, but she still loved to practice every now and then during the summer, especially when the wind wasn't howling in her face.
Slowing down just a bit, Artemis pushed her broom into a steep dive, pulling up again when she was only a few feet from the ground. Once she was high in the air again, she did a few loops and rolls, her eyes watering slightly from the speed. Again slowing down, she did a few slow laps around the pitch, feeling glad to be where she was most free, up in the air.

Hayzie had been taking one of her walks around the grounds, during the day for once. Since she had been in the forest, she had rarely come out during the day in fear of running into someone she knew, but it seemed most people were now aware of what had happened, so what was the point in hiding? And since she had been in the forest, Hayz hadn’t seen the person who had saved her from what would more than likely be an inevitable death.
Strolling along, she passed the lake, the graveyard, the hills that separated the school from Hogsmeade, before coming across the Quidditch pitch. Looking up at the goal hoops, a very familiar figure caught her eye, brown hair flying behind her as she zipped around the pitch. Smiling, Hayzie could only watch as her friend flew around slowly – appearing to be in a daydream.
As she came, probably unknowingly, lower towards the ground, Hayzie called up to her, “I thought Quidditch had finished for the year?” a twinkle of hurt lit up her eye for but a second. She had heard that Gryffindor had lost to Slytherin in the finals. But there was nothing that could be done about that now, and so, she shook off the feeling and smiled up at her friend, waiting to see if she would snap back to reality.

ooc: Err, Hayz, Artemis doesn't have red hair... her hair's brown. On my av it's red, but... yeah. ;D
bic: Artemis glanced downward and snapped out of her thoughts as she heard a farmiliar voice calling up to her from below. With a slight grin she sped into a steep dive, and stopped about a meter from the ground.
"It has, but we wouldn't want to lose the Cup again next year, would we?" She answered her friend's question with a smile, even though she still wanted to throw something when she thought about the 'Puffs winning the Quidditch Cup.

"Apparently not," Hayzie smiled with a roll of her eyes. "So, you don't want to lose the cup, but you're practising alone?" she asked, leaning against a goal post. "Makes sense, Art," the blonde girl grinned, an almost cheeky glint in her eye, completely covering up how she was feeling inside.

Artemis fought the urge to roll her own eyes. "Well I would seem like an idiot rallying the team for practice in the middle of the summer, wouldn't I? Besides, I'm pretty sure even if I did have a practice, the only people that would show up would be Kalyn, maybe Marina." The Slyth Prefect desended the rest of the way to the ground, her feet lightly touching the ground with a quiet thud. "What've you been up to Hayz, besides planning your next scheme?" Artemis asked, almost immediatly regreting the remark. Hayzie probably wouldn't be pulling anything for a while.

"Me? Planning schemes?" Hayzie asked, hiding a look of near hurt behind innocence - one thing she was fairly good at doing. "Wouldn't happen, not me, not ever," she smiled, shuffling her feet a little.
"I haven't been up to much really," Hayz answered, looking away from her friend and towards the floor.
"What about you? Making trouble, as always?" she continued, what could have been classed as a cheeky grin on her face.

"Me? Making trouble? Yeah right, Hayz." Well, it was pretty much true. She hadn't been making much trouble since that night in the forest, and really hadn't been participating in the prank wars of late. The sun shone brightly in the clear blue sky, annoying the prefect a bit by shining in her eyes. Squinting in the sunlight, Artemis noticed the signs of the grin on Hayzie's face had mostly faded away, probably because the grin hadn't been entirely real in the first place. Sighing mentally, the girl leaned on her broomstick lightly, and studied the wooden structure around her that she knew so well.
