Okay I like the idea of newbie buddies, so it should not be manditory, but I will. I know this is not so good, but I think it can help. Talon Windwaltz if you don't want me using your good heroics, bad heroics thing just tell me. This is what I will tell the person that I am helping and please if you have anything you want be to add or get rid of just tell me. I know I am not really important, but I want to help. Here is some things I will tell the person I will be helping.
Here are some important facts to become a better RPer to make this site bearable.
Use past tense terms like you were telling a story. Example. Would, went, ran, and jumped.
Use quotations when you talk and remember everything, like the punctuation right before the last quotation mark. Example. “Hi, I am Albert Jefferson and you are?” he said in a friendly voice.
Use spell check, or a dictionary to check your spelling. Also use proper grammar.
It is better if you RP it like you were the storyteller. Also use the spacebar. You know the biggest key on the keyboard. Example. He went to the library to take out some books.
No all-powerful newbies. It bothers everyone that right when you join you have all of these powerful spells that is better than everyone else.
Please don’t base your facts off the book. Only use spells from the book. Do not base your character on characters in the book
DO NOT power play. Power playing is like; He went to Mark and beat him to a bloody pulp without breaking a sweat and then made out with Samantha. That is now way to make friends, or in quidditch he took the quaffle from so-and-so and scored.
Okay you are in a school. You can’t fight all the time. You can’t do outrageous stuff that you wouldn’t do at a real school.
There’s an old saying that states, respect your elders. In this case it is respect the creatures. Do not think you are better, tougher, and smarter than the monsters in the forest, because you are not. They have every right to rip off your arm and then impale you with it, even the faeries. Do not ask the vampires, or lycans to sire you. If you go into these places you have a ninety-nine percent of not living to see the next day. The Vampire Lair, The Laycan Tunnels, and The Valkeries Hideaway. The forest is not a place for Little Happy Strolls, and stuff like that.
Try to keep your post at least the whole text box. It is hard for the experienced Rpers to reply to that. It also makes us mad that someone will spend thirty seconds on one post. It is okay on out-of-character threads. Do not do stupid heroics.
Good heroics- So-and-So ran into the clearing and looked at what was going on. "What's her face! What have you done! You know you shouldn't have come in here, I've been looking everywhere for you!" He looked up in the face of the lycan, and pulled his wand (or other weapon) slowly from the sheath. "I...I don't want to fight you but...please, fight me, not her."
Bad heroics- *Annoying Runt ran into the clearing as fast as she could, looking around for her bestest bestest friend* "Ahhh! Those doggies are hurting Gina!" *she shouted at the top of her lungs as she took out her legendary fabled scimitar/katana/claymore/falchion/b****** sword/broad sword/dagger/long sword/short sword and slit the monsters throat* "Come on Gina! I'll save you!" *and they flew away into the night*
Do not pick on someone else in out-of-characters-comments.

Anyhoo. Yeah, Jacob, well done, you're mentioned! *laughs* Its nice to see people that appreciate this kind of thing. I don't know HOW I got this piece of info but it really annoys the Headmistresses when someone's made Prefect or HB/HG (although Jacob, you were very good about it, and I'm sure Kiki was too) and you get NO REACTION at all. No IM back or anything. HOW RUDE. *looks sheepish* When I found out I was prefect, I was so happy, and I didn't even think to IM Rose back, because well... I wasn't thinking. But I flipped out and told Raethe, and Tori, and Matt, as soon as I noticed. *feels bad* Well, I was so psyched about being Prefect. And since I didn't say it before, I'll say it now. Thanks Rose and Claire! And yes, as for newbie buddies, I'm definitely up to help. *nods*

Heh, I think I scared Rose when she made me Prefect...she had the misfortune of being on MSN when I got the IM, and I flipped out. Then I called Dami. Anyhoo, several points since this thread seems to have grown ginormously since I went away. One...Morgan, calm down a little ok. Trust me, I am perfectly aware n00bies are the root of all evil and they're MORE than annoying, but you guys don't need to go off and make other people feel bad by using specific examples. That goes for the rest of you too, not just Morgan. Two...Newbie buddies are a great idea, and it could be a decent job for the Prefects since we never actually seem to do anything around here other than sitting and looking totally cool Three...IMing newbies and offering to help...yeah...gets you yelled at. Not really suggesting it unless the newbies can get off their asses and take things seriously. It pisses me off. Four...we never mention the-crappy-RPer-who-is-STILL-lurking-about-who's-name-begins-with-A EVER again in polite company. I start to twitch, and then take my annoyance out on poor innocent objects. And my little sister. Heh. But she doesn't count. Five...Hayz, this is about newbies, not about my laziness with logging in. And can I help it if I've started a trend? *grin* *glomps everyone, even the newbies*

*muses* Now if we can only get some more newbies to read some of if not all of this thread, twould be interesting to see how much of a difference it makes.

Maybe we should put a password, somewhere in the thread, so they have to read it to find it. And you have to IM one of the prefects or headmistresses with it to post.

Hmm. That may not be a bad idea.
However, if we were going to do that, we should take the important points of this thread and start a new, more organized and stickied topic.
Just my opinion.
