Dear Genesis, It has come to my attention that you have nearly finished your school money supplies. I know that you had owled your mother asking for more but your mother didn’t reply, on my command. I have decided to cut you off for the rest of the school year. This, I hope, will teach you to be more responsible with your money, because money doesn’t always stick around. Also instead of you spending your Christmas break with us you are to stay at the school. Your stepmother Sophia and I have decided that you staying at Magic Horizons during that time would add onto your punishment. Also instead of going to your mother’s home during the summer you will now live with your cousins. Please do not try complaining to your mother because I forbid any letters sent between you two. Your mother isn’t making me happy right now and like you she is being punished.
Sincerely, David Radcliffe
Genesis slipped the piece of parchment back into her robe pocket and wiped away a tear. She didn’t understand the letter she had recently been sent. Why had it sounded so cruel? she wondered. Despite the fact that she had been warned by her father not to, Genesis decided to owl her mother. This wasn’t to complain but to see if she was alright.
Although her father was usually kind he could also be cruel. Genesis had watched her father take down her aunt by stripping her and her children of all of their money. Her aunt Abby had ended up marrying some rich and horrible man just so she could make sure that her children, Genesis’ cousins, weren’t homeless. Genesis shivered at the thought of that happening again.
Genesis walked up to a brown and white school owl and attached her letter to his feet, “It’s to my mother,” Genesis told the owl as she stroked its feathers then added, “be careful.”<br> Once the owl had slipped out the window Genesis leaned up against a wall and slid down to the floor and as her emotions over took her she cried.

"Now now," came a voice over the hooting of the owls, "What could ever be the matter, little girl?" The voice was a very kind one, yet it couldn't help but have a tone of arrogance. Perching himself on one of the support beams to the Owlery was a man, though he was very different from an ordinary one.
The first thing one would spot upon seeing him - and possibly be shocked by - were the enormous leathery black wings that sprouted from his back. Second would be the clear white eyes which glowed within their sockets, staring down at the girl. After that would come the fact that this man was extremely attractive - by far more than any normal human would appear.
His hair was the clear white of his eyes, and it poured down over his head like ivy. A smug smile was on his face. Folding his wings, he jumped from his place upon the balcony. Spotting the piece of parchment sticking out of her robe pocket, his smug look disappeared. "Bad news, I presume?"

Genesis had been alone for a while when suddently a voice came from above;
"Now, now. What could ever be the matter, little girl?"
Genesis looked up and jumped at the surprise of who was hovering over her. It was a man…well maybe not like any man she’d seen before. He had glowing white eyes and a very attractive face. Genesis would have been shocked at the sight of his wings but she’d read about the Valkerie race in a book once and knew that they lived near and visited the school. The shock was mostly just hearing a voice suddenly.
"Bad news, I presume?" He asked and Genesis nodded. Although her mother would have scolded her for letting her guard down and showing her feelings to someone she didn’t know but she needed to get things off of her back and speaking with a trembling French accent she spoke, “Well it’s my father. He wrote me this letter…”
Genesis took the letter out of her robe pocket, “…I just don’t understand why though. The way he sounds in the letter, he just sounds so distant and even a bit evil…” Genesis trailed away and wiped a few tears from her face.

Kaiser was a bit pleasantly surprised at the girl's reaction to his appearance. Most either screamed, whimpered, squealed like a pig and ran, or stood in awe. She, however, simply jumped in surprise at his voice and addressed him like he was anyone else. Kaiser grinned at this, and stretched.
As he stretched, his large black wings disappeared into his back. His glowing white eyes were filled with frozen blue irises, and he seemed completely human now, except for the white mane and the extraordinary height. He stood at least a foot and a half taller than the girl.
Coming closer, a soft smile appeared on his face. "Evil?" Kaiser said aloud, "I don't have much advice on parents - I never had any -" He said with a normal tone, because he was sure the child knew what he was, "- but I can tell if a person is evil or not. You wouldn't mind showing me the letter, would you?"

Genesis watched as the Valkerie stretched and his wings retracted and Genesis pulled herself up off the ground. She found that she still had to look up at the Valkerie who was taller, but most of the people Genesis had met seemed to be.
"Evil? I don't have much advice on parents - I never had any," He said and Genesis nodded then he went on;
"- but I can tell if a person is evil or not. You wouldn't mind showing me the letter, would you?"
For a second Genesis hesitated to hand over the letter but she did anyway. The tall and handsome Valkerie seemed trustful and maybe hearing someone else’s prospective on the letter would be helpful for her own understanding.
