Roman stepped into the Owlery, hoping that no one decided to send off an owl at that time of night. It was nearly 2 am judging by the half moon that shone into the tower windows, spotlighting a few roosts in pale pools of light, revealing a few slumbering owls. He stopped in the middle of the circular room and gazed up at the immense height of the Owlery that housed all of the school's owls and those of the students.
Bringing his gaze back down, he made a small smirk and continued up the steps that spiraled on with the tower walls, stepping quietly as to not aroused the few sleeping owls. Naturally nocturnal, many of the birds were either out hunting or staring at him with their wide, glowing eyes. Ignoring them, he went all the way of to the third landing, where he found his own bird situated farther from the rest of the coop. His falcon, Thebes, perched upon a long wooden pole and looked upon him eagerly, searching for whatever it was that he brought her.
Easing her down and revealing a large rodent for her, he let her feast while she stood on his arm, allowing her master to stroke her head and wings gently.

Footsteps echoed throughout the stairwell to the Owlery as Amira climbed upwards. Desperately needing to send out a letter, she turned the doorknob and entered the circular room.
At first she saw no one. In fact she was so determined to find her owl that the room could have been completely crowded without her knowledge of it. When finally spotting Kassiea, she called to her and the owl flew down, landing on her shoulder.
The letter that was attached to a package was quickly tied around the foot of Kassiea and sent off to Amira's only relative that was still alive. As she watched the bird leave through the window she sighed at the thought of her sister. It was a terrible tragedy at how things had to be.
Suddenly an all too familiar sense came across Amira. Realizing what she was sensing brought a smirk to her face. That's when she saw him. A mysterious creature standing alone in the owlerly.
Walking over to him she quickly tapped his sides, making him jump just barely enough to notice.
"Evening love," she offered in a soft, songful voice. "I didn't except to see you up here."

The man sitting by the ledge let out a surprised jump, flustering Thebes for a moment, who stretched her wings indignantly and glared up at Roman. Brushing her with his hand, he calmed her ruffled featherd and shushed her.
"Amira..." He replied softly, as if whispering to keep Thebes from acting up again. The edges of his lips lifted faintly, still unaccustomed to really smiling. "Please, sit. I didn't realize that you used this place to house your bird."

Amira took a seat on the ledge next to Roman while her eyes were fixed on the magnificent creature withing his hands. Although it was an owl, something about it was quite beautious.
Looking back to Roman she couldn't help but let out a nearly inaudible giggle. It was too adorable when he attempted to smile, but she was greatful for such an attempt.
"I don't prefer to keep her here, but I'm not going to keep her in the caves," she offered with a smile. There probably wouldn't be a real problem with having an owl in the caves, but Amira didn't want to risk being kicked out because of Kasseia being a nuissance.
"So what brings you up here? If you don't mind my asking of course."

Thebes resettled herself on his arm, continueing to rip at her meal. Roman continued to run his hand over her white feathers, taking his own comfort with the way his bird managed her silver and white perfection despite everything that he put her through. An Alaskan gyrfalcon was what she was, bred in the wild, and still retained her wild inherence.
Amira's words echoed in his head, about leaving her bird in the caves. He couldn't help but let his mind stray to whether or not, they fed on animals other than... He mentally cleared his throat and opened his mouth.
"The birds are really taken care of well here, I must say. Though, I'm afraid that she gets rather... lonely sometimes." He looked away slightly from Amira, feeling a little... odd for showing such concern over his falcon. "I'm actually here, just to visit with her." He added more quietly.

Not only was Roman dedicated to Amira's heart but he cared about the well being of Thebes, showing that he truly was a selfless and loving person. Never had she seen someone have such a caring nature with an animal. Possibly because she did, after all, live with undead. She too never cared until she met Roman.
Connecting with the thoughts he held in his mind she offered a slight smile. "Vampires don't eat animals. At least I nor any others that I know do." It was a thought, however, something Amira, being a vampire herself didn't know the answer to.
Taking in Roman's concern with the astonishing creature, she realized she wasn't alone. Although not much time was spent with Kassiea, it was her only companion. As a new addition the undead, Amira would sit for hours talking to Kasseia. Most would have labeled her as insane, but sometimes she would have sworn that the owl actually understood everything she had to tell her.
"I admire the way you take care of Thebes," she began, eyeing the creature as if deep in fascination. "I just wish I could visit Kassiea as much. It seems that for the past few years I haven't had to time to just enjoy the company of her." A low, nearly inaudible sigh escaped her lips as she became lost into her own thoughts. For some reason, she just began to fill her mind with memories, worries and so much more.
"I assume that Kassiea finds herself to be lonely occassionally as well, but she seems to have picked up some of my habits. She's learned to cope with loneliness." Tired of her dangling feet, she pulled her legs up toward her torso and hugged her knees. Laying her head on her knees, so that she was facing Roman, she stared at him momentarily before speaking.
"Not to sound completely insane, but sometimes it seems as though animals are the only ones worthy of listening."

Roman looked up at her and searched her face with his usual unreadable expression. It was as if she had read his mind when she gave that assurance of not eating animals. Can she hear me? He was swept in intrigue over the thought. He had never actually had a conversation with an actual other being in hs head before. Realizing with a shock, just how truly unexperienced he was, his brow lowered marginally and his hand stilled for a moment on Thebes' wings. Rome had believed that from the life that he led, he held more experience than a 100 year old man might achieve, but being with Amira, changed that. She showed him just how new he was to everything in the world. Nothing was old with her.
He watched quietly as her lips parted as if to sigh, but he heard nothing come out, yet Thebes lifted her head and looked at her. Then taking in her words, he nodded.
"I believe that." He said, taking another rodent from his cloak, but this one looked frozen, as if stunned. He threw it towards the center of the room and made it slowly descend onto the floor as Thebes suddenly stilled and watched with gleaming predator eyes. After removing the spell that had stunned the poor creature, letting it unfreeze and look about wildly then run frantically away, he threw Thebes up into the air and let her hunt. "When I do talk with her, she looks at me as if to answer me. She never cries out or shrieks... she's like me. She prefers to act, than speak. "
Roman stretched out the arm that had held Thebes and rotated his wrist while watching his bird. "She takes what I say, and truly listens. She doesn't have to fumble around for words, she just... lets you know."

A slight school girl giggle couldn't help but escape Amira's fragile lips. Whenever Roman thought hard enough on a particular matter, he made the most adorable face. It was like he was lost within the realm of his own world. Surely he wouldn't like the idea of being called adorable, so she kept quiet about the little things about him that made her smile.
"I can hear you," she began, speaking through a quiet laugh, "but only if I try. I don't know everything that goes on in that head of yours and I don't plan to be the untrusting girlfriend. Therefore, I promise not to read your mind any longer."
As Roman brought Thebes's prey back to reality, Amira couldn't help but watch as the owl stalked the poor, helpless rodent. Something ran through her blood that made her watch intensely as the predator began to hunt the prey. The vampire that she truly was yearned for such torture, such torment. In her mind, she couldn't help but picture the bird ripping the rodent piece by piece.
Snapping back into sanity caused Amira to take in a deep breath. How could she think about such morbid things around the only person that made her feel human? It would pain her to see Roman's expression if he knew what she had visualized.
Trying to get back onto the subject she laced her right hand into Roman's left and hoined him in his 'bird watching'. "It's a relief to find another soul who actually believes that animals have a sense of companionship. I thought I was completely insane to think that Kasseia actually understood my conversations with her."

Roman looked back at his beautiful vampire when he heard her ethereal giggle spill from her red lips and raised an eyebrow. He liked hearing her laugh, it made his chest contract in a way that simulataneously made him feel higher than the clouds. He wished he knew how to do it more often.
But then her presence took on a different, completely different turn. She tensed and seemed to grow colder to him, as if she had realized something. Yet she took his hand. Roman looked at her with concern sobering his face. He raised his right hand and cupped her cheek, looking directly into her eyes, searching for any clue to her disposition.
"What is it?" He nearly whispered.

Roman's hand felt like fire against the icey feeling that possessed Amira's skin. All too noticable she sighed as she tried to remember the feeling of warm, living blood running through her veins. It wasn't that she despised her vampiric life. On the contrary, she adored it more than she ever adored living. But sometimes she yearned for the feeling of life.
Staring at the hand that rested upon her cheek, Amira took in a deep breath, then slowly focused her sight to Roman's eyes. It was necessary for him to know the side he either couldn't see or....refused...to see.
"My love," she began, hoping her fierceness wouldn't cast him away from her heart. "You see me as human. A person who feels, loves, desires. And I do possess all of those things....for you."
Pausing for a moment, she recollected her thoughts, hoping that she could speak to him without turning her words into another one of her all too confusing conversations.
"But I have other desires." Turning her gaze toward Thebes and his meal, she began to explain. "I'm not one of those girls who would save the helpless creature from it's destiny. In fact, I'd rather watch the bird tear into the rodent and rip the flesh from it's bones. I love watching a innocent student being tortured, and slowly being brought to its end."
Amira had to turn away from Roman in order to keep her sanity. Maybe he already knew how morbid she truly was, maybe he didn't care. On the other hand, he may never look at nor speak to her again for being such a vile creature. If he were anyone else, she wouldn't give a damn what he thought. But she loved him. Only him.

Roman gently lifted her face back up to meet his. With tender eyes, he let them speak for him as he gazed down at her, using his thumb to stroke her pristine skin. Leaning forward, he planted a long, firm, reassuring kiss, warming her lips with his own. When he pulled back, he did so only marginally, so that when he spoke, his lips moved against hers, hoping that she would both hear and feel his words.
"I do know this, Amira, but that doesn't stop me from loving you. I accept and love everything about you." Raising his other hand, he held her face before his, cradling her in a protective, intimate hold, as if they were the only two beings in the world. "You understand the world better than anyone that I've ever met. You've seen the darkness and you hold some of it within yourself, I do as well. Everyone does, and yours is no more horrible than anyone else's." He kissed her again, warm and complete.

A single crimson tear fell down Amira's delicate cheek, landing on the hand that caressed her face. In no way was she complaining, but it was impossible to believe how someone so nurturing could love the damned and callous. Roman truly made her feel as though she was desired for.
The feel of his sensuous lips moving against her was no less than bliss. After waiting for years, Amira truly believe she had, at last, finally found a pure love. A love that was not only strong, but real.
Amira slid to where she was sitting next to Roman and placed her arm around his back, resting her hand on his waist. Staring into his eyes, she placed her lips against his in a quick yet meaningful kiss. After a few moments of silence, she rested her head in his lap, staring up into his sparkling eyes.
"That, my love, is why my heart of black feels so strongly for you......only you," she stated through her slow and seductive voice.

Roman looked at her with a searching gaze as he moved his hand across her forehead, brushing back her hair softly. Why was it that she believed herself so dark? He couldn't imagine her so evil as she believed herself to be. He understood perfectly well that she was a vampire and that it was in her nature to appreciate things in not so human ways, but seeing her as he did, he just couldn't imagine... just could not see it.
Shaking his head with an almost sardonic smirk, "Because you think me a fool?" He laughed briefly and looked up, as if laughing at himself.

The corners of Amira's delicate lips twisted upward into a smile. Roman was all too perfect and funny for her. No matter the circumstances, he was there to make her smile.
"A fool in the very least, my love. If anything you possess the most important type of knowledge that still exists," she stated, quite seriously to be matter of fact. There were certain things he knew that a 'fool', as he calls himself, wouldn't even dream of knowing.
Staring into his eyes, Amira lifted her porcelein hand and stroked Roman's cheek ever so gently, as if she were searching for something that lied within his mind.
"You know how to look at all the beauty and wonder inside the naturally hideous things."

For a few moments, Roman kept his gaze straight ahead, thinking about her words and letting them sink in. Never, ever had such a thing ever occurred to him. Him see the beauty in the world? Dark, troubling, silent, brooding him? He looked down at her abruptly as if with new eyes, stunned, searching eyes.
"Do I really?" He questioned looking back up, mostly questioning himself, as if musing the dark. "I'm afraid that I rarely see beauty in this world," Rome looked down at her and continued to stroke her forehead, "but when I do see it, I'm never mistaken."
