Forgoil ascended the dark and lonely steps of the Astronomy Tower once more. The cold chill that took hold of his body with every step reminded the grey-haired boy of the past events that had happened in this tower. It seemed that every time that he came up here; something went horribly wrong or a crisis came up. Perhaps it wasn't a curse and was mere coincidence, or was there really something that hung over this place for Forgoil Halifirien; something that he couldn't avoid or escape?
The first time that he had been come up to the Tower was to admire the beauty of the stars but that turned into an emotional experience and Forgoil blacked out for some time before coming back into the world of the living. The second time that he had come up here; he had tripped in Lottie's blood and carried the bleeding girl all the way down to the Hospital Wing. This tower held nothing but grief for Forgoil, yet why did he return?
It was the stars that called to Forgoil, for he never could ask for a better view than what the Astronomy Tower gave him the best view in the whole school, unless he could somehow climb onto the school's roof. When he reached the top of the tower; Forgoil walked over to one of the windows and gazed up into the sky; waiting for the stars to show themselves in their silvery light to their awaiting audience.

Spinning in circles. That's what her new hobby was. Blissfully ignoring the every-day things that brought common people down. It wasn't much, but it was enough. Twirling so much so that her long blue hair was fanning out around her, she bustled through the door to the Astronomy Tower. A place she had hardly been before.
Oh, how beautiful the stars were, shining down on the world that she had grown to know and love, but she had only noticed this when she opened her eyes, which had been closed from the world for at least five minutes. The second they opened, they met a figure only recognisable as Forgoil. A Hufflepuffian like herself. But there was something different.
Something... wrong.
"Cha doin up here all alone?" he was the kind of boy that loved the attention and happiness of his friends, so it was quite odd to find himself alone. Well, as alone as he was when she wasn't there.

The night breeze gently tussled Forgoil's grey hair as he tilted his head back to look at the stars. The silver orbs of the night that always have sparked man's curiosity in so many ways that it would take more than one book to list them all. Many of the orbs hung lifeless in the Sky for they had been dead for perhaps a thousand generations, and yet they could still be seen. Such an amazing thing that was; that time had slowed things down so that man could be able to see such beauty even after it's decay and death.
Forgoil heard the sound of a person moving behind him, and then a small smile crossed his face when he heard Carmen's question. All alone. It was strange, now that the boy thought on it, for him to wonder up here all by himself. He didn't mind being alone by himself; life had been that way for him for 14 long and trying years, so he had grown used to it by now. Yet he loved being in the presence of his fellow Hufflepuffs and friends. So why was he out here when he could be inside enjoying himself?
With a sigh, Forgoil turned around so that his back was to the night sky and so that he could look at Carmen when he said, "I am out here because I came to look at the stars. But who am I fooling? I really don't why I came here. Perhaps it was to try and forget memories from the past, or maybe just to calm down for awhile."
"What ever reason I chose to come up to the tower, I don't remember now but when I think on it; I don't even know if there was a reason in the first place", said Forgoil in a voice that seemed devoid of the laughter and humor that he had in the Common Room, "I just know that whenever I am here something always happens to me, and it is not pleasant. And yet I am still drawn to this tower no matter what. And why are you Miss Carmen up here? I can't see a reason for you to be out here right now. Care to explain?"

(Ooc: This won't be at all good, so please excuse the s***-ness)
No matter how much that sad face had brought her down, the girl spun once around on the spot. It probably wasn't the time at all for the girl to be spinning almost blissfully now, but it was the thing she thought it best to do. "I'm up here because I can."
The girl grinned, and once she had whipped out her wand, the girl muffled a spell behind a blocking hand, and aimed the stick at Forgoil's traumatized hair. It was struck with an invisible red paint balloon, sending it a brilliant crimson colour. "Red makes you go faster!" she exclaimed.
Now definately wasn't the time to be her bouncy, new self.
She breathed a heavy sigh, crossed one leg over the other and dropped to the floor with a 'thunk'. "Come on, tell me more if you feel the need."

A smile was struggling to appear on Forgoil's face at Carmen's usual actions, but tonight was different. If it had been any other night or for any other reason; he would be laughing himself silly, but then Carmen got serious as well; a side of her that Forgoil hadn't seen before.
"First you need to know what happened to me each time I have come up here", explained Forgoil; his urge to smile beaten back by the seriousness of the situation, "The first time that I ever came up to the Astronomy Tower was when I was still newly arrived at school and wasn't feeling like my usual self. I had come up here to look at the stars, but that turned into a conversation with Lynette Pearlcombe and Faerlain about the possible Danawi threat. I got too emotional that night, and blacked out from it; I can't remember much from the blackout but I do know that it was Faerlain who helped me get out of it."
"The second time that I came up here; I really did come to see the stars, but by the time I got to the Tower; they were hidden behind the clouds. And as I turn to leave; I slipped and fell...in Lottie McCartney's blood. I had to rush her down to the Hospital Wing and I was so exhausted afterward, but that wasn't that worst of it. Lottie was so afraid after what happened to her; she wasn't herself for days and didn't feel safe anywhere but inside the Common Room.", explained Forgoil.
"So that is my relationship with this Tower; I come up to admire the stars and in return it gives me horrible situations to deal with. And tonight I ascend the stairs once more; and now you are here as well", said Forgoil as he looked over at Carmen, "So with my third time to the Tower; I wonder as to what shall befall my this night. Or you for that matter, and you still leave me curious as to why you are on the Tower, Carmen. It's alright if you don't wish to tell me, but it might help if you get it off of your chest once and for all."

The girl's blue eyes didn't once leave the boy, standing tall above the sitting Carmen. How could such horrible things happen to such a nice boy? But then again, she had faced a Demoness in the forest, and ended up helping her out of a life-threatening crisis. It was almost as if these escapades were the norm for Magic Horizon's students within its walls.
And like it had done only a few nights before, the girl's face fell emotionless. "I've no real reason to be here. Just spinning randomly!" she exclaimed, but with a feigned gleeful smile instead of her usual bright face. Oh, she hoped she had pulled it off well. There was no way that she could ever tell him that he was the reason she was crying almost every night since that one...
The girl put on a giggle. "You make it sound like some creature is going to slice our throats." Though bad things had happened to him when he had entered the beautiful place, surely it couldn't happen each time. Could it? Fate would surely tell soon enough...

Doubt filled his mind when Carmen's serious expression melted and quickly became one of glee. He had only seen her face that serious once before this night; that was in the Hufflepuff pillow fight and it didn't melt like her expression did now. It had stayed on her face and didn't leave it; even after she had left the room. And if these two serious expressions were one and the same; then surely that smile of Carmen's was forced, but what was she trying to hide from him?
Forgoil slowly sat down besides Carmen; his green-grey eyes trying to decipher what was behind her blue eyes; what she was trying to keep a secret? But after no results, the grey-haired boy decided to stop and let Carmen tell him in her own time.
This time a small smile did crack through Forgoil's seriousness from what Carmen said about beast lurking in the shadows; waiting to slash their throats. He didn't think that, but he was still troubled about his past experiences here. "Perhaps there isn't a creature lurking in the darkness; waiting to slice our throats, but from my past experiences here I am still troubled. And if I have learned one thing in life; it's that Fate has a funny way of toying with me when it comes to unpredictable things."

At least that was a sign that he wasn't searching for answers; his smile. That was something she found easy to do recently, make people smile. Such random-ness had never been shown to the world before, so it had surprised even herself. "Well, there comes me. I'm funny, from what you've responded like, and I'm random. You're right. Fate has a funny way of toying with you when it comes to unpredictable things." The girl blurted, but only with a crack of a smile. It was still bugging her.
And for once, the girl wrapped her arms protectively around her waist, hunching her back. Subconscious things weren't always the best thing to show around others, especially if they could tell what was being shown.

Forgoil brushed his now red hair with his hand, looking over at Carmen still; trying to figure out what made this girl tick. One minute she was as serious as could be and the next she would be wearing a silly smile on her face. This girl was as unpredictable as the wind, and yet she seemed lost in a sense. She led her own life in a most peculiar way, and it was from that Forgoil was confused. She seemed to be hiding something; lost in her own world, but she didn't seem ready to talk about it with everyone. At least not to Forgoil.
He had this urge to wrap his arm around Carmen's huddling form, but restrained himself since Carmen shied away from his touch the last time in the Common Room. Nodding his newly acquired red head, Forgoil said, "Perhaps you are the random thing that Fate has sent to me, but the night is still young; there is plenty of time left for something to go wrong."

It suited him, in a way. It was the fiery love that he held for all his friends that shone through his hair, or that was the way she thought of it. The girl accented an imitation nod and tightened her grip around her waist. There was something she couldn't unleash. Not yet, anyway.
"You've got to think optimistically, Forgoil. Hope and imagine that nothing bad will come of tonight. That's what has gotten me through times of tough," but the time that was now was indeed tougher than she could have ever expected.

"Heh, I was optimistic ever since I have come to this school, but the times of have changed, Carmen.", said Forgoil in a patient voice, "I wonder what happened to make this once seemingly calm state of mind into what has become a tempest of confusion. And somehow Carmen; I can't help but feel that you are somehow linked to this." The once grey-haired boy, now a red head, stared out into the vastness of space; still no stars shown in the Sky. He tried to avoid looking at her, but he couldn't. As mood had sunk once more into the depths of the night; never to return to the surface unless it was saved early on. ooc: Look you is talking

(Ooc: Yes, I is talking)
Oh god...
Surely he couldn't have figured it out. Surely. He couldn't have. Could he? How could he have figured it out? She was almost definately sure that he couldn't read minds, so could he have understood now? No. It was impossible. There were no signs that she had spilled, from memory.
A question still rose in her head, despite the nagging, poking thought that he knew. "What do you mean?" she asked with a raised blue brow. He couldn't know. She couldn't let him. Releasing her grip, the girl reached into her pocket to grasp her wand. If she had to change his mind on what he thought about, she would.
No way could anyone know...

As Forgoil looked onto Carmen's face, he thought that he saw a brief flicker of surprise at what he had previously said. Had he touched a nerve? Something that should be left alone or examined further to see what it might reveal. Deciding once more that it would be best not to press the issue unless Carmen wanted to tell him, Forgoil simply replied, "And that is where my thoughts turn into guesses, Carmen. There are so many ways that you could be involved in my state of mind that I won't even try and fathom them all."
However, compassion struck Forgoil's heart when he saw that the very un-Carmen-like expression was still on her face. He moved a bit closer to her; not noticing her hand slowly reaching into her pants' pocket. When he was close enough Forgoil gave Carmen a comforting hug while saying, "However, if I am right in assuming that you are somehow involved in this and are withholding something from me that I should know; then you can tell me whenever you're ready. Because now matter how hard you are trying to hide it, Carmen; there is something tearing away at you from the inside. And I know from personal experience that it is wise to talk about whatever is bothering you now than having an expulsion of emotions take over your body."
Quickly releasing the blue-haired girl from his little embrace; Forgoil moved back to where he had originally sat down and looked over at Carmen; hoping that what he had said had helped her in some way. The last thing he wanted was to lose another close friend of his to his own ineptitude. First it was Lottie McCartney, and now it seemed that Carmen was starting to act that way as well.

Unable to distinguish his words from her fluttering mind, the girl merely nodded just before he had embraced her. That was when her heart took over her mind's shaking. She could never tell him. Not about her parents, or about him, or about the other two. Nothing. She had no one, really, to tell or talk to..
God... I feel so alone...
This was the one thought flickering through the girl's mind once her heart had slowed and the second he had let her go. "I... I can't tell you. I can never tell you!" Carmen cried desparately, the yelling echoing through the little room. The waves of a sea during a trechorous storm could not even come close to the girl's mood.
What could she do?

Forgoil was crest-fallen when he heard Carmen's words. That he wouldn't be able to help her; that he never could. Emotion was starting to build up inside of the boy, emotions that couldn't be repressed and they were starting to show on his exterior. Where there was only compassion and sadness at Carmen's state, soon there was also a slowly burning anger that only increased with each passing minute. He wanted to help her in her pains, that was all and yet she casted aside his help like it was nothing.
Struggling to control his emotions, Forgoil remembered that it was just like this; that he had lost Lottie as a friend. She never told him what he had done to her, so he remained under the impression that whatever he had done was wrong. He had lost control there for only a minute and look how it affected him. He no longer had the first person that he had met at school as a friend, or at least a friend that wasn't willing to talk with him.
Perhaps just thinking with his heart was what caused him to lose Lottie. So if that was the case, then now he had to control himself. If not, all would be lost. Forgoil's will struggled to hold back his tears, to try and keep his calm exterior, but he couldn't help but feel that despite all of this; that it was pointless. Carmen would see through it; all girls that the boy knew seemed to see through anything that Forgoil said or did.
Standing up Forgoil looked down at his blue-haired friend, his eyes looking like they never had looked like before, for inside them was building a passive rage. It was more directed at himself than Carmen, but it still hurt him to know that she didn't want his help in any way, shape, or form. "Whatever suits your fancy, Miss Carmen", said Forgoil; his voice filled with pain, "Just remember that never is a very long time. And at the end, I will still be there if you wish to talk about this."
Slowly turning on his heel, Forgoil Halifirien slowly walked over to another part of the Tower; still being able to see Carmen from his new star-gazing spot, but daring not to look at her least the pain that he felt rush up again to affect him in ways that only occur when one deeply cares about one's friends.
