Keelin grabbed a book, read the title, nodded and sat on the ground and began to read. she then pulled out her wand, mumbled a few words, making a quill, ink bottle, and paper appear. then she took the items, sat the ink on the floor and took to write notes from out of the book.

[glow=purple,2,300]Dovie smiled at Makira as she enetered. "Maki-chan!" She went over and gave her a big hug. "Went to go check on Bolt, I'm guessin.." Dovie smirked before walking over to the stack of books and pulling out a random one. "And Chris, when you say elemental magic..do you mean natural-born gifts, spells, or bending?" Dovie glanced up at Chris from a thick, leather book she'd picked up.[/glow]

"Well its more like a manipulation. Look."
*Chris picked up a book he was very familiar with out of the group. He then held his hand over it and concentrated. Slowly the book began to ember and then flame up. He dropped it to the floor and watched it turn to ash.*
"Thats a very handy book. Ive read it in and out."
*He smiled as everyone looked at him in disbelief that he had just burned one of the books.*
"No its okay look."
*From the ashes of the book there was a poof and a smaller version was lying in the ash. It slowly grew back to normal size.*
"The Secret To The Pheonix Animangus. Thats the only one i bothered learning how to turn into. Actually very helpful."
*He gave a quick smile.*
"It is also the key to the elemental magic arts. The basis for it is that all the elements can be controled by one source: water. From water you can control all other elements including the most powerful which is fire. By controling the water in the atmosphere you can even make solid air combust. Its very cool seeing as how oxygen and carbon can do that very nicely. The only key to controling fire is to have the pheonix animangus down because you need that spark to ignite things acting as a catalyst for the magical effect. Being magical creatures the water is the easiest to control. More than half of our bodies are made up of water so its perfectly logical."

Makira smiled at Chris.
"Alright, Mr, Chris." she walked over to Dovie, was greeted with a hug, hugged back, picked up a book, and copied the girl who greeted her (Keelin).
She then looked up from her book, blinked at Chris, and shook it off. She then went back to reading and taking notes.

[glow=purple,2,300]Dovie blinked in slight disbelief. "That...would make sense since water is everywhere, including the air, and..." Dovie blinked again. "I can't believe I didn't realise it before! How lame of me! Can I try something really quick..?" Dovie looked up at Chris from the book laying on the floor.[/glow]

[glow=purple,2,300]Okay, so the object is to remove the water from the air around a flammable object to increase the heat, right..? Dovie thought over. Would that be correct..? Dovie looked over at Chris, eyes wide and wondering.[/glow]

"Yes but you would not get any kind of reaction without a trigger. You either have to use to wand to trigger a spark or be an animangus of a pheonix or some other flame creature."

[glow=purple,2,300]Dovie blinked and looked at the book on the ground in a pile of ashes. "But..air ignites when heated to a certain degreeeeeeeee..... AH, duh, forgot the simple fact that matches is air and sulfer reacting to heat, there has to be a secondary reactant, duh.." Dovie rolled her eyes and shook her head. "However...would carbon combust on its own, sans reactant, if heated to a certain degree? I mean, theoretically, there's carbon dioxide from breathing out...right? So...in theory, since air is needed for somthing to combus, you could heat the carbon to a certain degree and use the oxygen to feed the flame...right? Or am I way off? Because if I am, please correct me.." Dovie looked over.[/glow]

[glow=purple,2,300]"So...would it be possible to ignite the carbon and use the oxygen to feed the flame, and thus create fire, in a sense..? By removing water from the surrounding atmosphere, I mean? I'm curious, please stop me if I'm rambling.."[/glow]

"That is the whole theory behind it. In theory you could do that and then really just breathe on the spot and it would ignite into flames."

[glow=purple,2,300]"So I could just..." Dovie started working with the water around the book and removed it to stick on the window (dew). She concentrated in one very, very small area (1 cm sq.) and removed every single bit of water she could sense and paused. "So just breathe on it..?"[/glow]

"Yeah but you need to heat it too. Thats where the spark from your wand or your abilities as an animagnus would come in handy."
OOC: we better stop...people need to be able to keep up...i gotta go for a bit anyway
