Saturday morning. Why had she chosen to sleep in so late? Now, everyone else had left the Slytherin table, leaving one strawberry blonde headed girl the only occupant while she nibbled delicately at a slice of brown toast and drank lightly from a cup of tea.
Today, she was clad in some glittery jeans and a black halterneck top, which was becoming a favorite of hers. Maybe she would have to find Mina and go on a shopping trip sometime soon.
Baz had had to go back to Spain for the weekend, leaving Amberly on her own for the first time since she had arrived back at MH. Looking curiously around the hall, Amber could see a few other students who had slept in late that sunny Saturday morning.
"At least I'm not the only one," she whispered to herself, opening the Daily Phrophet and beginning to read.

Thankfully, her migraine had subsided, and Carmen was let out from Kasey's sanctuary of the sick after a few hours. After leaving the hospital wing, the Hufflepuff trudged her way sleepily to the common room, gotten dressed, and then trudged down to breakfast.
But it was just before lunch by then. At least there was hardly anyone in the massive room. A few Gryffindores, a few Ravenclaws, no Hufflepuffs, and one Slytherine. She looked very lonely over there by herself. There was something odd about her though, something about her aura said that she was not the normal run-of-the-mill student like the blue-haired girl.
For one, she had beautiful, dark, olive skin. Maybe she was Italian. Or perhaps Spanish? Latin American? Whatever it was, she was not from Australia or England, or anywhere cold for that matter. Shrugging, the girl lead her way towards the Slytherine table, letting her long sapphire hair fall past her shoulders over her blue cloak with the badger on her breast.
"Hello" Carmen said with a smile. "You look rather lonely. Mind if I join you for breakfas- er... brunch?"

Amber had been half way through an article about water skiing budgies, much to her amusement, when another girl spoke to her. Green eyes looked up to observe a girl with long blue hair and similarity coloured eyes asking if she could join her.
"Sure," Amber smiled, moving some of her things out of the way. "It's a bit quiet in here, don't you think?" she questioned, looking around again. It was amazing how many people chose to get up earlier than eleven o' clock at the weekend.
"My name's Amber, by the way. Can I enquire as to yours?" Since arriving back at Magic Horizons, people had seemed almost scared to talk to her. Many had seen the articles in the Phropher and had avoided her like the flu since.

Perhaps this was to be another friend. Although Carmen had only been at the school for around a month or so, she had sure made a hell of a lot more friends than she had and did in Australia. Maybe this was a start to a great new life in England.
But she still stuck out like a gold-fish in amonxed baracuda with her Australian accent.
"I know! I've never seen it like this, even though I haven't been here long..." Carmen said, her sapphire eyes focused on Ambers. As the Hufflepuff sat, she offered her hand in greeting. "I'm Carmen. Pleasure to meet you." Her manners were kicking in, and when that happened, the accent stuck out even more. The girl blushed a little, blood flooding her already rosey cheeks.

Amber smiled and shook Carmen's hand politely. "It's a pleasure, Carmen," she replied, noting the accent. "Are you from Australia? Sorry, I just couldn't help noticing your accent. It's lovely," she explained, brushing some hair behind her ears.
World cultures always would remain one of Amber's favorite subjects, and she had never met anyone from Australia before... maybe she would be able to find something out about the place.

Ack! No! sprung her mind at Amber's response. Shying away slightly, the girl's cheeks flooded even more, turning a bright red. Her accent always popped up more when she didn't want it to... "Yeah, I'm from Australia." she replied with a hushed voice.
Still extremely embarrassed, the girl let go of Amber's hand. "Where are you from?" Carmen inquired, truely eager to know where she recieved the skin tone from. No doubt it was from Latin America. The girl had her bets placed on that one.

Amber also went slightly pink. She hadn't meant for that reaction. "I-I'm sorry," she whispered, letting her hair fall in front of her eyes again.
When Carmen asked her where she was from, a small smile lit up on her face. As much as she wanted to be here, her homeland was nothing she was ashamed of. "I am from Spain," she explained, a slight dreamy tone to her voice. "The South, to be precise," she smiled.

All of a sudden, the blue-haired girl burst out laughing. "No no, it's ok. I'm just embarrassed at how much I stick out! There aren't many Aussie kids here, so I have to do my best to fit in."
But once she heard that Amber was from Spain, Carmen sighed in her mind. She was so set on Latin America. But it didn't matter. She was Spanish, and Carmen loved the Spaniards(sp?). One of her dad's best mates was a Spaniard, and he had always looked after Carmen when she was young. Even when she was with her mum.
"Wow. Spain. I take it you're as uncommon as me!" Carmen joked, smiling warmly.

"It seems that way," Amber smiled back. "But Australia? That's great! I'd love to visit there one day!" the strawberry blonde exclaimed. From what she had heard, and what she had seen on the television, it was mostly white beaches, blue seas and cute guys.
"But sometimes it helps to stick out. It makes us... shall we say... unique?" Amber replied, going for optimism in her approach.
