Athenna followed Hikalyn into the Great Hall with Bubbles still in her arms. She looked around her appreciating the charm that the Great Hall held and felt as if she was actually coming home.
ooc: i'm sorry if this is considered godmodding but i figured if i'm moving on from my entrance thread into here that i should post something and this is all that came to my mind. So sorry Hikalyn and Bubbles i am not trying to control your characters.

Hikalyn led Athena, still carrying the toddler Bubbles, into the Great Hall. It was a huge place, easily bigger than the Entrance Hall, and hosted four long tables, each decorated in some way with the House colours so that new students would know which table was which, as well as a slightly smaller one for the staff, without looking at all crowded. The domed ceiling, many many feet above them, was obviously enchanted, a perfect replica of the sky outside the school. All in all, it was an impressive room.
Upon entering, Hikalyn stepped to the side so Athena could see the room without having to peer around her. "There's a table for each of the Houses," she explained, "but it only really matters at mealtimes, when everyone's down here. For now, just sit wherever."
OOC: no problem, 'tis perfectly legal. ^&^

Athena smiled at Hikalyn and said, "Thanks." She sat Bubbles down at a table and proceeded to sit down next to her and said, "Which table am i sitting at now? i'm afraid i don't know which colors go to which, just that i am a Gryffindor right now. I should probably explain why i don't know before coming here. You see Hikalyn, my parents were of the wizarding kind but they died when i was about Bubbles age I am told and i've been raised by muggles through the foster care system."

Hikalyn followed Athena's example, pulling out a chair and plunking herself down comfortably upon it. "This is the Hufflepuff table," she replied. "The Gryff table is over there--" she illustrated the words with a gesture--"and those are the Slytherin and Ravenclaw tables." Again a quick flick of her hand accompanied the words.
At Athena's accounting of her background, she nodded. "It's okay," she said with a shrug, "a lot of people don't know which House is which before they come here. I'm a half-blood, myself," she added. "My father was a wizard." It was a good thing the Slytherin House was no longer what it once had been, or she probably wouldn't have been too comfortable admitting that. But nowadays, most people in Slyth weren't petty enough to ostricize one of their peers because of the circumstances of their birth. Not that there weren't a few who didn't hold to those views, but for the most part they had almost disappeared. "I'm sorry about your parents," she added more quietly into the silence, then fell quiet herself.

"It's fine, I have my foster family that i've lived with my entire life and to me they really are my family." Athena said, as food appeared on the table. Athena smiled as she began to pile some food onto a plate for Bubbles including an apple.

Hikalyn nodded thoughtfully. She supposed that a sense of family was the important thing... but then, it hadn't been for her. It was something she'd never really experienced at all. Her parents hadn't really cared one way or the other about her, and Kalyn had to admit that she'd returned the sentiment. She supposed she'd never had parents in that sense, but to be honest, she'd really never felt the lack.
She toyed with a piece of bread that she'd buttered, but she made no move to raise it to her lips. She wasn't particularly hungry. Instead she asked, "so what did your foster parents think of you coming here?"

Athena smiled a little half smile, "They were shocked that the baby they had adopted was a witch but apparently i have a foster uncle that i don't see so much that went here so they knew that it was a safe place for the most part. They were shocked that i got in so late and i met the Uncle that went here and he's been teasing me... apparently when one is 17 they are on one of their last years here and i'm only a first year here." she laughed at this then asked, "How did your family react when you got in here?"

Hikalyn chuckled along with Athena. "I'm sure you'll catch up in no time," she assured the other girl, smiling. She finally raised the piece of bread to her mouth and took a little bite, then set it down again.
"They didn't, really," she said with a small shrug, in answer to Athena's question. "I think they were just glad to have me out from underfoot." Her voice was matter-of-fact; she certainly wasn't trying to get sympathy. To her, it was just the way things were. "Helped me pack my bags, and that was that." Come to think of it, they hadn't even dropped her off at the train station, they'd been busy with some thing or other. Hikalyn couldn't remember what that thing was, but it was a detail. Unimportant.

Athena nodded her head at that and said, "I guess some people are like that. So Hikalyn... can i take this to mean that you and I are friends now?"

Hikalyn blinked, a bit surprised by the directness of the question. Then she smiled warmly. "Of course," she replied, thinking once again how different things were. There had been days when the only time a Slytherin and a Gryffindor would openly talk to each other would be to trade insults.
Her gaze drifted towards Bubbles, and she wondered again what they were supposed to do with the girl, though she couldn't help but chuckle as she watched her. Then she just shrugged and took another little bite out of her piece of bread, looking back at Athena.

Athena smiled warmly and said, "I'm glad, after Bubbles eats and we've found someone for her to play slash talk with or if she gets tired and we find a place for her to rest could i talk with you later about something I'd rather not talk about in front of Bubbles." to Bubbles she smiled and said, "No offense to you my little friend but there are some things that a young girl your age shouldn't hear."

Hikalyn returned the smile and nodded her understanding. "I'm sure it won't be too hard to find somewhere to put her up for tonight." She watched the little girl, who certainly showed no signs of weariness so far, and shrugged again. "She'll probably wind up staying in someone's common room, that is, if no one objects too strenuously." She doubted anyone would. Magic Horizons was a big school, and most of its occupants were fairly generous. Bubbles woudn't lack for a place to stay.
Her expression turned thoughtful as she regarded the toddler, who looked as if she hadn't a care in the world. "I wonder how she got here," Kalyn mused quietly, speaking to herself almost as much as she spoke to Athena. "If she were a Muggle, she shouldn't be able to find this place at all... Even if she's a witch, the train must've crashed fairly close to here, or I don't see how she would have managed anyhow..." In any case, it was probably fortunate for her that she had.

Athena nodded thoughtfully on that and said, "I guess than she must be a witch or have something that is magically related about her." She smiled at Hikalyn then and raised a drink to her lips.
