Atticus and Orca stole away through the hallway towards the Gryffindor Common room, it had taken a lot of convincing to get one of the Gryffindor students to tell them where the Lion's Common Room was located. But, an hour and several packages of chocolate frogs later, they knew about the Fat Lady's Portrait on the seventh floor. Then, after a long stakeout beneath Atticus' invisibility cloak, they had discovered the password to enter the common rooms.
But that had been all worth it, cause now he and Orca were racing to the portrait, each of them carrying an animal-tote kennel in both hands as they hurried to their destination.
Reaching the portrait, Atticus whispered the password and gained entrance to the Gryffindor's sanctuary. After a quick glance around for students, they hurried in. There weren't any students remaining in the tower, they had counted the red robed Gryffindors who were now at the Great Hall, eating dinner with the rest of the school. No one had been missing, but they still had to work quickly. Crouching down in the middle of the floor, Atticus and Orca released the Nifflers, who burst out of their kennels and raced up the stairs.
Now all they had to do was wait for the Nifflers to return with the girls' jewelry. After shushing Orca to be quiet, he had started giggling at the rampant sounds of the Nifflers who were now ransacking the dorms just upstairs in their search for the shiny objects. Atticus himself started laughing as he heard a thunderous crash above their heads. Gods it sounded like they had tipped over a dresser...
Before long, the Nifflers returned to their masters, proudly carrying their prizes.
"Man those girls have a lot of jewelry..." He muttered as he began untangling the myriad of necklaces. Then, spreading out the earrings, bracelets, rings and necklaces on the floor, Atticus pulled out his wand and began jinxing the jewelry. Using all sorts of hexes, letting his imagination run wild, using charms and spells that would cause the girls several ailments like incurable hiccups, different colored skin, narcolepsy, only-can-hop-on-one-foot hex, uncontrollable giggles and the uncanny urge to hit on everyone they see, along with many others.
Then, as a final touch, Atticus pulled a jar of violent blue liquid from his robes, and dunked each piece of jewelry in the potion in turn. The jewelry glowed bright blue for a few seconds, but then returned to it's original appearance as the potion set into the very metal itself. This part was crucial. So that the girls wouldn't suspect the cursed jewelry, the potion would postpone the effects of the various spells for an hour after they were worn. Atticus smirked. Payback time.
Screwing the lid back on the potion-filled jar and draping the trinkets over the Nifflers backs, Atticus and Orca watched as they ran back upstairs to replace the stolen goods in the trashed dormitories. Atticus looked nervously around him, but there wasn't anyone there, good.
After packing the Nifflers back in the kennels, he and Orca slipped out of the Common Rooms and hurried back down the staircases back to their own Common Room deep in the dungeons of the school.
Only when they were safely in front of the fireplace in the Slytherin dorms did they fall over onto the beds laughing.
Revenge was oh so sweet...
