If anyone had noticed the arrival of a new student, not much had been said. Apparently many had come lately to the school, so a new arrival was common. Great Welcoming Committee. Was the first grumbling thought through Arthur's mind as he trudged into the Entrance Hall, suitcase and broomstick in tow. His long black coat that fell to the floor was drenched, as was his raven hair that fell about his shoulders. Dark eyes scanned the hall as he made his way to the steps of the stairs. It was about 1 AM, so nobody should be up at this hour, well, nobody in their right minds. So this was to be his task, to find his way around on his own it seemed. "Welcome to Magical Horizons..." He grumbled, repeating the words the carriage driver had said. "You will learn a lot here, you'll see." His tone was mocking as the boy sat down on the stairs, wringing out his hair into a puddle below.
Arthur Chandler came from an esteemed wizard mother, who used to work for the Ministry as an Auror, and a muggle father. People used to say he got his flair for a fight from his mom, because Arthur was always ready to prove himself in combat. Skilled at a wand, but dreadful in potions, magic was not that new to him, He had attended an all boys school before he was kicked out for excessive violence and failure to cooperate. Most of it wasnt his fault, just defending himself. But one thing lead to another and now he was at Magical Horizons, a co-ed school, to continue his education. The 16 year old boy was a 6th year, and would be turning 17 soon. He was about five foot eight, with a medium skin tone and long hands. Underneath his black coat was a black school robe, but he prefered not to show that.
With a sigh he looked around with dark eyes, before dipping a hand into his suitcase and pulling out a book, The Once and Future King, a favorite novel of his. While fighting was a talent, reading was his passion. He could spend hours at a time in a library just pouring over books, and that was where most of his fights happened because he was cornered. Arthur looked fearsome on the outside, but if you made friends with him, he could be a great ally and someone to talk to when things go badly. Clever hands turned to a page with a folded back corner and he leaned against the banister of the stairs, one foot on the 1st, the other on the ground. For about 20 minutes he kept at reading before looking around again, placing the book in his lap. His voice was musical and clear as he began to hum a tune, tapping his fingers lightly on the cover.
You know, I know its late, but this is excessive. Isnt anyone up to greet new students? He thought with annoyance. Surely someone had heard the front doors open, was he to spend the evening down here on the stairs? A book was fine and dandy when you werent soaking wet, better read in front of a fireplace or in a dark corner of a library. Reaching into his suitcase he drew out his wand, and uttered a spell. "Lumnos." Light poured from the wood and onto the book. With another sigh he went back to his work, eyes pouring over pages until someone would come to find him.
