It was the coldest weather that she had ever felt. It wasn't the first time she'd seen or been in snow, of course, but it had been awhile. She slightly remembered a distant cousin, a winter break, and sledding. Then back to Arizona, to the blazing sun and the bright red rocks that told her she was home.
But this place was far from that. This place was bleak, barren of any warmth except for the lights she saw shining out of the castle windows. Trinity wrapped her black sweater tighter around her chest and crossed her arms, letting out a quick breath. She watched with a small smile as a wisp of moisture floated innocently into the air, then was blown away by piercing winds that made her bow her head and wish she was home.
As the wind died down, Trinity lifted her head and uncrossed her arms to pull her shoulder-length black hair into a ponytail so it would stop sticking to her lips. She caught sight of the grounds, which she hadn't paid much attention to before, and pulled on the strap that crossed her torso and held her old Jackson to her back. There was a forest that looked rather bleak and ominous and stretched for miles around the castle. She spotted a lake in the distance that was powdered with the snow that was falling all around her. And a graveyard far off in the distance, which struck her as odd. A school wasn't usually the place to find dead people.
But no matter.
She smiled wider as she noticed that the castle steps looked a lot closer then they had a few moments ago. After a few more footsteps, she had reached them and started up the long stairway. The ornately carved door, positioned perfectly in the center of the castle's front, was a very welcome sight as Trinity wrapped one long, pale hand around the iron handle and pulled, sliding quickly inside. Once the door behind her was closed, Trinity rubbed her hands together, breathing in and out slowly. She was just starting to regain feeling in her face as she began to look around for a sign or something of that sort to direct her to her common room. She needed a fire like she needed her legs.
