ooc: If you'd like, dear. It's up to you. I'm content with continuing it here. bic: Blake nodded again, though a split second later he realized that he was behind Mina, and so she wouldn't have seen it. "Yeah, I can play by ear as well. I'm so, ah, good, for lack of a better word, that I can instantly tell when an instrument wasn't tuned correctly. I used to drive my instructors crazy. They always made sure their pianos were pitch-perfect before my lessons." He grinned, imagining his frizzy-haired teacher, Monsieur Delaney, throwing his hands up in disgust with himself as a twelve year old Blake pointed out yet again that the C# didn't sound quite right. "Anyways, I've dabbled in guitar, but it wasn't really my thing. There's nothing like the rush I get sitting down in front of those 88 black and white keys, just knowing that in a moment I'll be playing them. And dancing, well...That's a disaster waiting to happen. My girlfriend tells me I have two left feet." He grinned a bit wider, looking down at his feet as though to double check them. "So, are we almost there?"

Ooc: Ok, here's fine.
Ic: Mina laughed as he talked about instruments being out of tune, for she understood exactly where he was coming from. It was impossible to play when something was out of tune, because whatever you were playing would be ruined by the off-sounding notes, tunes or beats.
She laughed louder when he mentioned his girlfriend telling him he had two left feet. She pushed her hair over her shoulders as it had fallen forward over her chest. "That's nonsense, I'm sure anyone can learn to dance." She said, attempting to encourage him. She smiled warmly after this, thinking of his words about the rush before playing a piano. She knew it perfectly. She got the same thing with dancing, in that space of a second before the music starts.
They turned around one more corner and headed to the end of the hall, where two large oak door stood magnificently before them. Mina glanced over her shoulder at him and winked. "Ready?" She said mysteriously, before placing her hands on the handles. With one big tug, the doors groaned lightly and slowly swung open, revealing an enormous room crafted in a very fine fashion. Toward the center and a little left sat the large Baldwin piano, it's ivory exterior glowing in the light of the Dance Hall.
Even the size of the entire Dance Hall could not put that grand piano to shame. It was simply gorgeous.

Blake could've died, right there, and he would have been happy. Standing in the Dance Hall, with a girl he barely knew, just looking at that breathtaking instrument filled him with such an indescribable joy that he felt that his life was complete.
Lowering his pack and placing it gently on the ground, he walked toward the piano in a daze, not paying attention to anything around him. He pulled out the bench, wincing slightly as it made a scraping sound that echoed through the entire room. When it was far enough out to accommodate his long legs, he sat down, pulled back the heavy ivory cover, and stared with glee at the keys.
They were beautiful, sitting in the soft light of the Dance Hall like little black and white jewels. And as he watched them sparkle, he was filled with that familiar urge, the urge to push and prod this beautiful thing until it became a part of him, or he melted into it.
Smiling a very small smile, he placed his hands onto the smooth ivory keys, closed his eyes, and began to play. It was his favorite song to play, because it was the one that won Liz's heart. One of the first extremely difficult songs he'd learned to play. Nocturne Posthumous in C# Minor filled the Dance Hall with it's captivating melody, and Blake felt the world around him melt away, for at least the next four minutes.

Nocturne Posthumous, by Frederic Chopin. Mina knew this song well. She could not play it, but she often listened to Chopin's works, twirling, dipping and gliding in time with the beautiful music of one note into another like a loving embrace. She watched him for a moment, before lowering herself to sit on the polished floor of the Dance Hall; her arms curled around her knees.
Mina closed her eyes, and laid her chin on her knees as her hair fell forward and engulfed either of her cheeks. She smiled a sincere smile and felt her heart beating steadily, calmed by the gorgeous sound of the piano. Blake mastered it so easily under his fingers, and Mina was almost enchanted by it all, losing herself in the melody as her fingers delicately drummed the tune on her arms.
Four minutes lasted an eternity, and Mina was almost embarrassed to feel her eyes watering behind her eyelids in admiration of how this boy could play the song so perfectly. Once he had stopped, she swallowed her tears and bit her bottom lip, remaining quiet for a minute or two as she listened to it echo out of her mind and the Dance Hall.
"Wow.." She whispered, smiling and looking over to him. "That was," She longed for the perfect word to describe it, but only found one, "Incredible." She inhaled deeply, slowly floating back into reality.

Blake tilted his head slightly, his bangs covering his own watery eyes. He closed them, tightly, as his mind filled with images of the home he missed so much, and the people that filled his heart. After a moment, he heard Mina mutter something, and lifted his head, his blue-grey eyes bright and shining with life.
"I'm glad you liked it. It's my favorite piano song, by my favorite composer. It's done a lot for me over the years." Blake patted the piano fondly, a small smile gracing his thin, dry lips. He turned and saw that she was sitting in the middle of the hall, her knees drawn up to her chest and her arms hugging them tightly. She looked like he felt, withdrawn from the world, enveloped in the protection and comfort that the music offered from everyday life.
"I think I'll play another...Perhaps you'll recognize this one. It's a little quicker, and a lot more popular."
He then began to play a sillier, more childish song to lighten the mood. It was one he had wanted to learn to play ever since he had gone to Paris at the age of six and had watched a man play it in front of a beautiful carousel in the twilight hours. The lights hiding behind him as his battered piano belted out The Entertainer had mystified the young Blake beyond belief. And the dynamics in the Dance Hall were perfect for such a song.

Mina sighed softly as the realisation that the music was no longer filling the hall sank into her. She then inhaled smoothly and pulled the long ends of her marron scarf to settle on her knees, where she then nuzzled her cheek into them warmly. Closing her eyes, she smiled a faint smile, thinking how wonderous it was to know Blake's fingertips were like channels of emotion into the piano and thus the ears of other listeners. She nodded briefly and relaxed as he told her he would play another song, and she patiently watied, eager to hear whether she knew this one or not too.
Sure enough, a moment later, the melodious notes of the piano seemed to soar into the air and engulf the Dance Hall in an unreal feeling of beauty and grace. Blake's fingers passed over the keys with such ease, one could have thought he was born to play such an instrument. The Entertainer. Mina did know this song too, and it was definitely a more light-hearted one, with a harmonious tune that stuck in one's mind for hours after hearing it. She could have almost giggled at it, for she thought of this song as quite entertaining, ironically.
Her mind whirled with patterns and pictures of all sorts of sizes, shapes and colours on the backs of her eyelids, making her smile grow just that little bit wider. It was like a child in a candy store, so many lovely colours, so many tastes, so many joyful shapes and surprises. One could never choose just one lolly, one always wanted them all! Mina began giggling quietly, before it heightened to a chuckle, and she finally began to laugh, though quietly, and not to offend, merely unable to contain how much she was suddenly having a great time. Blake certainly had a way with the piano.
