Chilling.
This was the first word that came to mind as he trudged up the walk that had been cleared through the snow for travelers towards a dark, towering château in the distance. Blake had to say, he was impressed. Though his last school, a highly esteemed academy in the southern reaches of France known simply as Magie, had been an amazingly boisterous building with towers upon towers, Magic Horizons did give Magie a courez pour lui est argent.
He noted the many beautiful stained fenêtres and the gargoyles that hung lazily off of there platforms with a small smile, remembering his own école, which was famous for it's beauty. But though Blake held a strong sense of pride for where he came from, he had heard many good things about this place. Which is the only reason he had agreed to attend.
Tearing his eyes away from the castle, Blake hitched his baluchon higher onto his shoulders and glanced at the grounds around him. Though the premises was covered with a heavy amount of snow, he spotted a lake not too far off in the distance. The glace that had spread over it was black, meaning it was unsafe for skating. Blake was rather disappointed; ice skating was a joy.
He also spotted the large, forbidding looking forest. He raised an eyebrow as he thought he saw something dart behind a tree. Mentally filing away that this forest was not to be toyed with, Blake continued up the path. As he did so, he also spotted the cimetière, which quirked his curiousity immensly. Never before had he heard of a graveyard being placed on the grounds of a school. It was odd, to say the least.
At last, Blake arrived at the base of the étapes that led up to the front of the school. After a quick jog up, he faced the immense oak doors that had been ornately carved with images of plant life. He grabbed hold of the iron-cast poignée with his black-gloved hand and pulled, sliding soundlessly into the Great Hall. He whistled quietly as he tilted his head up to gaze at the tall plafond. It quite outmeasured the Main Hall at Magie. Blake then lowered his head and looked around, his face curious. He realized that he had no clue where to find his dorm.

Persephone found herself to be bored once again. She'd spent most of the day so far in her common room planning pranks and throwing pieces of paper into the fire. To say the least, she hadn't had a very exciting day so far, and she hoped to change that.
She could go down to the Pitch to practice, but the small Prefect didn't feel like trudging through the piles and mounds of snow to reach there. And she had a feeling that the Pitch hadn't been cleared since the last game and practice.
And some of those piles are about as tall as I am. Last thing I need is for Sam and Daemon to have to save me from a mound of snow that I fell into.
Deciding that she would die of boredom, Persephone headed down to the Entrance Hall. At least there she could decide on what she wanted to do, and she might even be able to meet some one new. That seemed to be something that she didn't mind doing, and she could usually be helpful to the new people.
She got up and left her common room, her long silver blonde hair cascading down the length of her back to end at her waist. Her small five foot frame stood barely taller than the chair that she'd been sitting in. As she walked, she moved with the graceful movements of a dancer.
She headed down the usual path to the Entrance Hall, and then walked down the last set of stairs. She hopped down them, her hair flowing and billowing behind her. Her emerald eyes looked bored, but still had that glint of fun and mischeif to them.
When she reached there she saw a boy. He seemed in awe at the Entrance Hall, and she really couldn't blame him for that. He also had that air of some one that had recently transferred about him, and she walked happily up to him.
Her emerald eyes gazed at him curiously, and she opened her mouth to speak.
"Guten Morgen. I'm Persephone, or as most people call me, Sephe. Are you new?"

Blake tore his eyes from a painting of a man fighting off three dragons that had caught his eye as he heard a sprightly happy voice ask him if he was new. Turning, he took in the sight of the long, shining blonde hair and the vivacious emerald eyes. Smiling slightly, he gave a curt bow and rose to his full height, running a hand through his dark brown hair.
"Oui, I am. It is a pleasure to meet you, Mme. Persephone. My name is Blake."
He noticed that, although his English was rather sound, he still had the tinge of an accent that told people his native country. His smile widening a bit, he looked around and adopted a sort of lost expression.
"Would you perhaps know the location of the Ravenclaw house, Mme. Sephe?"

Persephone could hear the French accent in Blake's voice. She knew that her own German accent had been drowned in growing up in Brighton, and she slightly admired him for that. It gave him some part of his own land and home to take with him, and maybe that was a good thing, but it might also be a bad one.
When he said he was in Ravenclaw, her smile widened. It was nice to meet a new Ravenclaw. It'd been awhile since there had been some new additions to her house, and she was happy Blake would be in hers. It was almost hard to picture the polite boy in front of her being in any other house.
"I would. It's my house as well. I take it your a new Ravenclaw then? It's awesome that you'll be with us. I'm sure you'll love it."
A light filled the deep depths of her eyes, and her smile was beaming and gentle. She almost radiated with light and sincere happiness.

Blake nodded slightly when she said that she too was in the Ravenclaw house. It was just his good fortune that the first person he met would be the one person he needed. His smile light, he nodded again, only this time it was more pronounced.
"Indeed, I hope I will. Although I must admit that I am, ah...hard to impress. I hold very high expectations for everything and everyone."
Blake paused and took another long glance at the room in which he and Sephe stood. The beautiful paintings, towering sculptures, and shining glass art were definitely better then he had expected. Turning to Sephe again, he smiled a bit wider.
"Although, I've only been here a few minutes, and it seems to be just my cup of tea."

"I'm glad that you like it already. Most of the rest of the school is pretty much like this. The common room is a lot more cozy and home like though. Still, it's a pretty nice place."
She smiled at him. It seemed normal that Blake would have high expectations for a new school? Who wouldn't have? It was normal for people to compare new to old, and old to new. Sephe was just glad that he liked the school.
"Are you transferring then from France?"
She knew it was a stupid question, but still it would be nice to ask questions before she started to state facts. She didn't want to make any misinterptations.

Blake nodded, hitching his pack up again. "Oui. I am originally from St. Rémy, of southern France, before I started attending a small private school in Les Baux. Then I won a scholarship to Magie because of my piano, and the rest is just about history."
He smiled slightly, running another hand through his hair while he stuck the other in his pocket.
"Are there any pianos in the castle, by chance? Because I would love to try it out. I have been traveling for the last month and have been unable to practice much. My fingers are quite stiff."
He let out a small laugh and stretched them slightly. It was true that he had been traveling by train for the past month, preferring it to Apparation. He had played only once during his traveling, at a small piano bar in Lannion, before crossing the ocean to Britain. There he had played for almost two and a half hours, which was really nothing compared to his practicing back home. But it had felt good to let his nimble fingers pass over the keys, pressing them quickly to produce beautiful melodies.
"What about you? Are you originally from Britain?"

As Blake said he played piano, she smiled. He might like the idea of the Dance Hall were a piano was always open and he could play at any time. She, herself, had played only in the common room on her flute. She didn't have the courage to face a whole audience alone on her flute.
"There's always the piano at the Dance Hall. I'm sure people would love to hear you play."
When he asked her if she was originally from Britain she smiled. She really wasn't. Her native land was Deutschland, or as most people called it, Germany. It'd been awhile since she'd visited her homeland.
She'd grown up in an orphanage in Brighton, and she could remember how her accent had faded at the age of four into the southern English one. Sometime's she missed hearing people speak German, but the longing had faded.
"No. I was born in Germany, and spent the first four years of my life there. After the deaths of my parents I was sent to an orphanage in Brighton, England. I go back to Germany as often as I can."
She wondered if Blake missed France already.
"Do you miss France much?"

Heidi had finally been able to find her way around the Castle, walking out of the Great Hall she was heading out to the lake, were she hadn't been before in the two days she had been at the school.
Entering the entrance Hall she saw a girl, Sephe the girl that had introduced herself to Heidi when she first arrived then seeing she was talking to a guy Heidi could only have guessed he was new.
"Hello Sephe, how are you today?" Heidi asked smiling brightly then turning to the guy still smiling "Hello I am Heidi pleasure to meet you" Heidi said placing her hand out for the boy to shake.
Heidi had long purple hair and amazing purple eyes to match, wearing her tight black jeans with a band t-shirt of the read The Used on it.

Blake smiled broadly at Sephe's comment.
"An open piano? Sounds like a dream come true. You'll have to show me where the Dance Hall is later, of course. I'm hopeless with finding things on my own."
After Sephe had spoken of her homeland, and asked Blake if he was homesick, he shrugged slightly, then nodded. He thought of the castle where he had spent his last four years, studying piano rigorously, while also taking magic lessons on the side. He remembered the beautiful countryside, with rolling green hills and thick forests and wonderful fountains that welcomed you to breathtaking marble castles. And, of course, dear Liz, whom he missed with all his heart.
"I do, quite a bit. I don't miss my family, because I haven't spoken to my father in years and my mother has since passed away, but I do miss my girlfriend, Liz, and a few of my other friends. And, of course, the food." He patted his stomach lightly, letting out another small laugh.
As he did, another girl with a shock of purple hair came up, greeted Sephe, then turned to him. With an amused expression on his face, he shook her hand and looked her up and down, before saying, "Ah, nice to meet you Heidi. I'm Blake."

Ooc: Blake I love your signature.
Ic: Mina's ears quirked left as she heard the mention of the Dance Hall. She had been casually on her way to the Great Hall to grab something to eat, when her attention was jerked to two girls and a boy standing by the Entrance Hall; the words 'Dance Hall' having just uttered from his lips in a slight accent. Her aqua eyes swiveled to see the three and she smiled, changing her course and making her way over.
Her small heels clicked on the stone floor; the boots riding all the way up to her knees in stylish leather, where woolen socks reached up to stop just before her pleated black mini skirt. The socks and boots kept her warm in this weather, and the inside of the castle was a lovely temperature all the time anyway. Her upper half was clad in a simple and sleeveless beige top, with black stripes running horizontal on it, the whole thing slightly baggy on her curving frame.
Strawberry-brown hair spilled over either of her shoulders, mid-back-length, and a little curled at the tips, but her eyes were enough to catch anyone's attention, as they were sparkling as bright as the stud in her nose and the delicate silver hoops in her ears. Toying with the ends of the long maroon scarf she wore, Mina winked at Persephone, having only met her a day or two earlier, then welcomed the other two with a friendly smile.
"Hey, I'm Mina. I couldn't help hearing you mention the Dance Hall?" She said, speaking to the boy who appeared to be new. Mina had an undying love for music, and her home was basically the Dance Hall. It was even a surprise that her Fender guitar wasn't slung over her back, or a song wasn't freeing itself from her lips. Music was this girl's drug, and she admired anyone with the same passion.

ooc: Why, thank you. Made it myself. bic: Blake's blue-grey eyes swiveled to yet another girl walking across the room toward the small group that was starting to form around him. He was beginning to wonder if he wasn't the only male in the entire building, for he had not seen another one even walk by the entire time he'd been standing there talking. It struck him as a curious set up. As the girl came over and introduced herself as Mina, Blake's smile widened a bit at her question. "Indeed, we were just talking about it. Sephe mentioned a freelance piano there, and my fingers could use a bit of a stretch. Piano is a passion of mine. And I'm Blake, by the way." He nodded politely to the girl, his hair shifting slightly as he moved his head. Turning his attention from Mina to all three of the girls, Blake hitched his pack up once again and asked curiously, "So, would any of you like to lead me to the Dance Hall? I'm dying to see what kind of piano you have."

Mina's smile melted into a grin as Blake commented on his fingers needing a stretch. He played! She rejoiced in her mind excitedly, almost ecstatic that she had found someone else who enjoyed at least an instument as much as she did. Mina had mucked around on the piano a little ever since arriving at the school, and after a good many tries, she was fairly decent at playing several complex songs.
Though her forté was certainly dancing.
Looking at the other girls, Mina raised her eyebrows eagerly. "Yeah! Let's go now, come on." She said, wavering a hand at them all in a gesture to follow. Turning, she began heading toward the corridor she had just come from, smiling in intrigue all the while. She would definitely hear the boy play a song or two, and perhaps she could ask him to teach her something one day too.
"It's a Baldwin piano." She said, voicing the brand so that if the boy knew pianos well enough he would be aware that it was indeed a fine creation. "It's a beautiful shade of white, with golden feet and pedals.." She cut herself off, blushing faintly as she realised she was beginning to ramble. Turning to face him as they walked, she spoke, attempting to bring up conversation. "So, how long have you played?"

Blake followed the girl eagerly when she mentioned that it was a Baldwin. He was glad they didn't have something that would annoy him, but that it was something he could work smoothly with. He was used to the SF10E, but anything made by the company would fine. He had never seen a white one, though, so this was definitely something to look forward to. Mina's question carried behind her to where Blake walked after her, and he smiled, tucking his hands in his pockets.
"12 years. I've played since I was three and three quarters. I've been taking lessons with masters of the trade since I was eleven, and it was the only reason I got into my last school. I'm real good with magic, of course, but piano is my life. I plan on being a concert pianist when I'm older."
Blake blushed slightly as well as he rambled quickly. Just the thought of getting to play again was getting him worked up. To calm his nerves, he thought of starting a conversation.
"So, do you play something as well?"

Mina kept leading the small group on, round another corner and toward another hallway. They were almost there. He poured out an answer to her question, and although he stopped abruptly after telling her what he wished to be when he was older, she was enjoying hearing about it, and hardly thought it ramble at all. When he had mentioned skills in magic, but piano being his passion, he had taken the words right out of Mina's mouth.
Only Mina was no doubt less skilled with magic that Blake, since she never attended classes or studied and simply spent all her time in the Dance Hall or out on the grounds. The girl could hardly ever keep track of where her wand was at all times, though there was one particular ability she had always had with magic. Since it was of no concern in the conversation, Mina decided to keep that a secret for now.
It was good that he asked her if she played something, because it snapped her thoughts away from the subject of magic, and it brought a smile to her lips once more. "I've never really learnt anything with training before, but I taught myself to read music from a young age, and I can play well on most instruments by ear. I'm fairly good with my guitar, I can play a little on the piano, and I'm not bad with a drum set. But my talent lies in dancing." She explained, before hushing herself once again from rambling.
Ooc: Would you like me to make a thread in the Dance Hall to continue this?
