.. Well, sort of. The doors to the entrance hall flew open, wind mingling with snow, leaving a layer of white on the castle floor. Shoving the doors closed was what could only be described as a snow creature, covered from head to toe in the white flakes. The figure could have been a Yeti, if it wasn't for the fact that she barely reached five feet. "Ah-choo!" she sneezed, snow flying off her face. Pulling out her wand, she shivered slightly as she tapped it against her clothes, causing the snow to immediately disappear. Where once stood the mini-yeti now stood a young girl that looked to be twelve, thirteen at the most, but was in reality fifteen years old. Silky, ginger locks were pulled into two short plaits, a few strands escaping to frame her face. Golden-brown eyes peered through the faintly tinted lenses of the glasses perched precariously on her nose. Clutching her bulky beige coat closer to herself, she stared around the hall wide eyed, wonder at her new surroundings curling her lips in a smile. "You make a heck of a first impression, just like your father, you'll be an embarrassment to your grandmother.." clucked a familiar voice. Perched near by, having flown in unnoticed, was the brilliant peregrine her grandmother had given her only a week before. The bird had taken to insulting her and her father every chance she got, laughing at Desi's every blunder and clumsy mistake, of which there were many. "Oh shut it, just this once, wont you Elation..?" she snapped, not sparing the falcon a glance. Slipping her hand into one of her coat's pockets, she pulled out a small paperback book, shaking it until a slip of paper fell from between the pages. Reading the name Hufflepuff, she wondered where she was expected to go, and if anyone would be willing to point her in the right direction.

Persephone sat in front of the common room fire. Her long silver blonde hair fell down to her waist, and her small frame was curled up in a comfy chair in front of the fire. She had managed to scrunch herself into the chair, but when you were only five foot, it wasn't such a hard task as so many people presumed.
Persephone stirred, sighing deeply. She been sitting there reading a book, but she'd finished it and now had absolutely nothing to do. Boredom filled her mind, and the small Ravenclaw opened her emerald eyes. They were deep and knowing, and she seemed to be older than she was. That was a counter diction to her small body. Her eyes were a hundred, but she looked twelve, thirteen tops.
She uncurled from her ball and fell to the floor with a thud. Groaning slightly, she glanced at the watch on her slender wrist. There was plenty of time left in the day, and she decided to head down towards the Entrance Hall. At least down there she had the chance to meet new people.
Standing up and shaking herself, she smiled. The idea of meeting new people was always something that brightened her day. She seemed to regain energy that boredom had seeped out of her small body.
She walked across the floor of the common room, and then headed down the stairs. She danced/hopped down them. Humming slightly to herself, she reached the last stair. Her long hair landed after her, and she looked around the Hall.
A girl was there, and she seemed to be about Persephone's height. For once, Sephe didn't feel that short, and she grinned even wider. It was nice to be the same height as someone else, and not have to crane your neck to look at someone.
She walked over to the girl. When she was close enough to talk with out yelling, she said, "Hello, I'm Persephone, but most people call me Sephe. Who are you?"

“Huh?” she said, moving her gaze to the long-haired girl “Oh, yes, hello. A pleasure, Miss Sephe. I’m Desiree, or Desi, which ever you prefer.”
Taking a step forward, she extended a hand for the girl to shake. There was a faint smile curling her lips, her glasses made her eyes look slightly bigger, like that of a round eyed puppy, and she had a seemingly permanently dazed look etched on her features. Still holding her hand out toward the girl, she looked around at Elation, clucking in a bird like fashion.
“Come here and greet Persephone, you ill mannered pigeon.” she chirped, completely oblivious to the fact that some people might find her ‘connection’ with the bird odd.
It was just another thing she’d grown accustomed to, one of her favorite family inheritances, the ability to communicate with animal through the own languages. Of course, it was difficult to learn, but given enough time, her family found the clucking, barking, and purring easy to learn and distinguish. She herself could only communicate with birds, and the canine family.
“Pigeon indeed.” she squawked, flying over to land painfully on Desiree’s shoulder. “You’re more of a pigeon than I am.” That said, she clicked her beak and bowed her bright head in an obvious greeting, ignoring her owner’s winces at the claws gripping her flesh.
“This is Elation.” she said, wincing again as the falcon flexed her claws open and closed again.

ooc: Don't worry about it. And merry belated Christmas to you too!

Persephone listened as Desiree introduced herself, and then said that Sephe could call her Desi. That was a good thing, because Persephone had that awful habit of shortening people's names.
She then took the hand extended to her in her own small one. She clasped with a strength that wasn't really expected of her body, but then again, Persephone wasn't as weak as she looked. And that was a really good thing. If she was, then the wind would be just about enough to do her in.
When Desi started to talk to the bird, Elation, Persephone almost fell over. It wasn't that she was talking to her pet, plently of people did that, it was just the way she was doing it. Persephone had never seen anyone reply to birds in their native language, and that intrigued the small Ravenclaw.
"You know how to talk to birds? That is so cool! Can you talk to any other types of animals?"

"Er, yes, yes I can." she answered, swiping her hand at Elation to get her to fly off again. "Well, I suppose it's cool, but being raised around a whole family of people who can speak to birds, as well as other animals, it grows on you to a point where you forget you're no longer using any human languages."
Shoving the paper and book into her pocket, her smile grew to a full grin as she nodded.
"I can speak to canines, all kinds. Dogs, wolves. I'm trying to learn to communicate with felines now, but they can be lazy, and a bit conceited. Very high opinions of themselves, usually don't like to give mettling humans the time of day. And unfortunately, the felines' languages vary depending on their breed, basically the same, but still, it makes it harder." she said, all in one breath. She had a habit of rambling, one she didn't bother to try and get rid of. She could usually go on for hours without stopping, but when she did that she usually started chucking words out at a very fast rate, sometimes making it difficult for people to catch all her words clearly.
Pushing her sliding glasses further back on to the bridge of her nose, she asked "Can you speak to any animals?"

Persephone listened as Desi spoke. She spoke fast, but years of dealing with her twin and little sister had taught her how to decipher the words. It seemed that cats were really as conceited as they were thought to be, and she wondered if her kitten, Dallimar, was. He never really seemed to be that conceited as afraid of the world, and yet curious at the same time.
When she was asked if she could speak to animals, the prefect side. It would make things easier if she could, but she couldn't.
"No. I can speak German and English, and I know French, but it's not really fluent. I'm completly inept in the whole languages of animals. Still, I think you can use my kitten to help you learn feline. He's not really that conceited, at least I don't think so."
She smiled at the thought of hearing Dallimar meowing to Desi. Her kitten was terrified of people, but he was also a great judge of character. If he liked Desiree, he would probably help her out with learning feline.
