(ooc: wouldnt it be easier if we all had separate threads? I doubt rose would have created it as a sub-board unless she expected it...)
Michelle entered the Christmas Ball feeling very nervous. She hadn't been at Magic Horizons very long, and the only friends she had made were her own house friends, hufflepuffs like Lottie and Carmen.
As soon as she saw how beautifly the Hall had been decorated, though, all her worries melted away and she stared in wonder at the fairies and the ice sculpture she had seen the ghost Shae making. She stepped forward into the hall, now smiling quite confidently, smoothing down her dress that was white with an overlay of spring green gauze, embroidered with little flowers. Her auburn hair was pulled up and clipped into place with a glittering slide, but one lock of her hair would not stay and kept falling forward into her eyes.
"Looks like its going to be a very good night" she said to herself happily.

ooc: I can't believe everyone else ignored you... dammit... why do I always have to help out the newbies...
bic: Ace was standing at the side of the hall, looking quite different to his usual, bedraggled self. He had ditched his usual shirt, trousers and over-robes that he wore to teach in favour of a jet black tuxedo that, unknown to the rest of the dance, he had not worn since he had worn it to his wedding years ago.
He smiled at the happy students as they danced, but refused to join them. He gave a small wave to Wilting Rose, who stood over the other side of the hall, only just noticing how small and lonely the curly-haired Headmistress looked without Claire at her side. As he picked up a plastic cup full of punch, another few students entered the hall, among them was Michelle, a girl he had spoken to a couple of times, who seemed to have had a little trouble adjusting to life at her new school.
Looking at her now, he was amazed. She looked bright and confident, in a white dress with a touch of green that set her apart from the rest of the students. She didn't look like the misfit he had seen a few weeks ago, lost and confused - she was just like the rest. No... she was even better.
Ace smiled at her and nodded his head towards her, but still didn't move from where the rest of the staff sat, bored.
