I agree about Dumbledore being a maniac in the movie. Michael Gambon is a terrible Dumbledore. Richard Harris was like...Dumbledore incarnate. I didn't realize what horror it meant for the movie franchise when Richard Harris died. Now I do.
And Voldemort was just miserable. I loved the Death Eaters in the sense that they looked like the KKK, except wizards. But Voldemort was just...blah. He was a freaking bald guy in white makeup. Maybe if he wore some sort of Grand Dragon (leader of the KKK) outfit, then he'd look pretty cool. Or at least SOMETHING to cover his head. But the baldness and the pale makeupness was just...blah.
He's not supposed to look human, and he does.

I've seen it twice and it's been released in Australia for two days.
On second viewing there were very many things I missed on the first. I was always a bit 'Why the hell does Barty Junior keep acting as though he's a snake and do that funky tongue thing?' on the first viewing. Then on the second I realised that was how Barty Senior recognised his son in Moody, because Moody flicked out his tongue like Barty Junior.
And I was the same, a bit 'Why didn't you explain Crouch's death??' on first viewing, but then I found out if you listen to the conversation Dumbledore, Fudge and Moody are having in Dumbledore's office when Harry arrives, Dumbledore is saying 'We have had a man killed Fudge!' and then Fudge is adamant that he won't cancel the tournament.
So they covered that. Even if it was a bit baffling to spot first time round.

*nods*
I saw it last night. Was really dissapointed that alot of things were kept out and not explained.
I really did not like Dumbledor in this movie, as other people have said, he was too rash/in your face.
There were pieces in the movie that were left out that I thought were critical to the movie, or changed. For instance the World Cup, they, the Weasleys, Harry and Hermione, were ment to be in the Misisters Box, but weren't.
But over all I really enjoyed it. Had a good laugh as well.

Guys, you can lament the missed scenes as much as you like, but think logically - I can't imagine them having cut a 700-odd-page book down to a movie of that length and NOT butchered about half of it. Personally I think it's the best so far. For me, it was like seeing all the highlights of the fourth book in one full on, fast paced blast - and I loved it! Sure, I don't think anyone would have the foggiest idea about what was going on, had they not read the books. But hey, that's their own problem. Personally, I'm giving it a big thumbs-up, but I have to admit that I'd love to see the movies redone in full-cinema, ten hours devoted to each, entirely true to the books. I know this will probably never be successful, as not only is it too costly, but the actors would have to devote their whole lives to it. Ah well, that's what that thing called imagination is designed for. So don't spend too long thinking about the hole in the donut (mmm....donuts...) but think about what they managed.

*laughs* I'll have to agree with Laura. It was fantastic, and I didn't dwell too much on the things that they missed. And also with Elorra, I was like "What? I was looking forward to the match!" But there was a good laugh too.
F&G *puts feet on table* Arthur Feet off the table! F&G Feet off the table! *pulls feet off, then back on*
Little things like that really got me. ^^ And by the end I developed a soft spot for Krum, and of course the Wyl-look-alike Cedric ^^.
I recon they also did well with the looks of people. I imagined Moody exactly how he was, other than the eye (I didn't imagine an eye-patch!). And Voldemort was very accurate too. Along with Krum and Rita Skeeter.
But I did pick up on the other things, like the tongue flicking and stuff like Ki, and then figured it out later. *Shrugs* Maybe it's the Auzzie way to watching the HP movies or something...

If there's one thing I will not agree with, it's Voldemort. He was not accurate. He was a bald man in pale white makeup. Krum, well, I kind of imagined him having shaggy black hair. Like, really shaggy. Like, rock star shaggy. The rest of him was rather accurate. Rita Skeeter was dead on, though I sorta thought she had red hair. On second thought it does say 'Attractive, blond haired Rita Skeeter, 43' in one of her articles in the book.
Moody I saw realistic in personality, and sort of in appearance. But not in the eye. Definitely not the eye. I saw, like, an eye that was actually IN the socket. And, also, in the scene with the trial it shows him still with the eye, while in the book it declares that Moody still had his old eye during the trial.
And...Cedric didn't look like Wyl. He didn't wear glasses. o.o
As I just watched Prisoner of Azkaban last night, I thought to myself: "What was wrong with Michael Gambon's performance then?" I mean, lots of people thought Dumbledore was very...hippie-esque, but quite frankly, I preferred hippie Dumbledore to in-your-face Dumbledore. Because, quite frankly, Dumbledore is a hippie.
Let your minds wander on that idea.

it was really good! you've gotta leave some things to the cast and crew and directors, but seriously! the new dumbledore is not as good as richard harris, true, but what could they do about it? it's not like he has a clone or something. they had to recruit SOMEBODY. the music was excellent (i now have the soundtrack). i didn't think they did the best job making fleur part-veela, because she didn't look extrmely radiant or anything. but she did her part well.
about voldemort.....
WHAT, WERE THEY CRAZY???
the guy was bald, in white makeup, and freakin' SHORT. I mean, come on! He's supposed to look scary and freakishly tall......yeah right. that was a total JOKE on his part.
