This was my MSN Today when I logged online earlier: 'New 'Harry Potter' film too scary for under-12s in Britain
Saturday Oct 22 14:59 AEST
Scary scenes and even a spot of foul language have prompted censors in Britain to declare the new Harry Potter movie unsuitable for under-12s to watch alone.
Young fans of the teenage wizard will have to be accompanied by an adult if they want to see "Harry Potter And The Goblet of Fire" when it is released in British cinemas next month.
The previous three Harry Potter movies had all been given a PG rating by the British Board of Film Classification, enabling children of any age to watch without parents at their side.
On its website (www.bbfc.co.uk), the board said Friday that no scenes were ordered cut from the movie, it contains "moderate fantasy violence, threat and horror" -- including a graveyard battle with a gang of hooded Death Eaters.'What do you guys reckon? I personally can't wait to see it. Buuut, that's just me. I wonder what the swearing was? Jo was always so careful to imply that it happened - usually from Ron like in P.o.A: " 'You know what that -' Ron called Snape something that made Hermione say 'Ron!' ' - is making me do?' "

Yes, I have heard rumors in the US that they are going to make the film PG-13, which would actually make me happy. I wouldn't like to see all those wonderful scenes glossed over and made to appeal to very small children; after all, what are they going to do when they get to the sixth book?

Yikes! I wonder what they will Rate it here? IF the moives at the end get to R I don't think I'll be able to see them. But *sigh* I guess they will do what they have to do to make it true to the book.
Yeah i'd rather not see it and have it be good, that be able to see it and have it be stupid and babyish.

Oh, I seriously doubt they would ever rate any of the HP movies R. That would just be unrealistic and they wouldn't make any money off of it, since it's mostly adults who go to see R movies in the first place.
They would be ignoring their target market, which is mainly made up of kids. Most parents will be lax and allow their kids to see a PG-13 movie... but R would be stretching it.

Yes, I believe it did get PG-13. I suppose it makes sense, after you think about it after a while. There is the graveyard scene and Cedric dying and all...

Like parents would ever stop their kids from seeing a Harry Potter movie, even if it was rated R. Besides, those people who don't let their kids see R rated movies are the same people who think the "Harry Potter" series are the Satanist Bible because of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

I got to agree with Professor Trajan. It will be PG-13 at the most maybe PG-17 in the last movie but I even doubt that. Most parents will let their kids watch the movie because well look what they have on Tv nowadays so movies that have a good moral sense to it should not be upset.

I don't know, but since I guess there isn't that much horror in the first one. And anyways in my mind, when something goes from being watered down for little peoples to not so watered down for "a little bit more mature little peoples" then it's good. Plus, there are disney movies that are getting PG 13 ratings these days.
