O.k Constructive criticism is appreciated. But please don’t be too harsh. I beg. I’m not the greatest author in the world. But this is an idea that I have wanted to post for a long time. A long time. And this character is based on the one I made here. So there will be a resemblance. So here goes.
Prologue
The Council of Guardians had been able to keep there secret since the beginning of the human race. They would grant powers to anyone with the sacred blood. But then the Salem Witch Trials began. After they had recovered and had their secret safe, The Council of Guardians had to pick people they knew could keep alive. So now they only pick one person a decade. The one person with the most powerful blood.
And now, it’s the year 2000. They found a seventh-grader. The one person with the most powerful blood that they had ever seen. This girl was an ordinary girl. Not one of the guardians thought they would pick someone under twenty-five. Let alone a thirteen-year-old girl.
Chapter One- Mrs. Halk Is As Pale As A Vampire!
Kayla wasn’t the most ordinary girl. She had very long, wavy hair. Her eyes were blue but in certain light they sometimes looked red. She always thought it was strange. Her athletic ability was very high on a scale. She lived in New Hampshire. But not for long.
Her mother was transferred to Salem, Oregon.
Who would have guessed? Kayla always thought that she would stay in her quaint little town. Then again she thought her dad would live to see her enter high school. But no. He had to have died the day before seventh grade started. Sometimes she cried at night because she missed him. But crying gets no one anywhere.
So where was Kayla now? She was daydreaming about the move to Salem in the middle of math class at her new school. What a great way to make a first impression on a teacher.
“Kayla?”
She snapped out of her daydream and looked at the teacher. Kayla of course didn’t know what the question was. She looked at all the other kids and finally decided to say something after a brief moment of silence. “Yes Mrs. Halk?” Mrs. Halk looked like she should have been called Mrs. Chalk. She was as pale as one and had whitest hair. She came only a week before Kayla. Mrs. Halk obviously didn’t like Kayla.
“Do you know what the answer is?” she said as sharp as a beaver’s tooth.
“No, Mam.” Kayla said in a bored tone.
“Do you even know what the question is?” Mrs. Halk asked just as sharp as she had before. Maybe even a little more. The teacher glared at her, but moved on.
Kayla, of course sat alone at lunch. The new kid never met anybody right away unless there was another new kid. She had to start working on her essay. Mrs. Halk said that she had to write ‘I promise to pay more attention in school’ tree-hundred times. By the end of the week too. All of a sudden there was a voice behind her.
“Do you want today’s notes?”
Kayla turned around. A girl about her age held out a piece of paper with math equations written all over it. She looked at he girl. She didn’t wear any make-up(like Kayla) and had the prettiest green eyes she had ever seen. Kayla looked at the paper and realized that she really needed the notes.
“Oh that would be great!” Kayla said gratefully as the girl handed her the paper. “How did you know?”
“I sit by you in Mrs. Halk’s class.” She said. “You didn’t write anything down. You didn’t even have a pen in your hand.” Kayla gave a little soft laugh.
“Do you want to sit down and join me?” Kayla asked. It was as if the words slipped out of her mouth. The girl sat in the spot next to Kayla and held out her hand. “I’m Dana.”
Kayla shook Dana’s hand. “Kayla Trials.”
“I can’t believe Mrs. Halk gave a three-hundred word essay.” Dana said heartedly. “Mrs. Halk is as pale as a vampire!”
