Ace strolled into the Valkerie's Hideaway, his bright green eyes surveying the huge underground cavern where the elusive creatures he sought resided. His eyes fell upon the five open craters on the far left of the cavern; only three of them now burned with mystical fire, the other two lay empty and cold where once there had been life burning from within.
He walked in further, sure there was at least one Valkerie in this enormous place. He could sense them... movement behind the veils that separated their bedrooms from the rest of the Hideaway...
"Isn't anybody going to welcome me?" he called out, the corners of his mouth pulling in a slight grin. He knew he was already enjoying himself far too much, being back here, anywhere here - this is why he had left, after all...

Whisper's eyes had been blazing white for hours... it was the strongest, most powerful, painful vision she had ever encountered. She had maintained it for as long as she could, but as she saw a pair of green eyes twinkling in her mind's eye, she gasped and fell helplessly to the floor of the cavernous area that hid away the magical Valkeries.
That was hours ago. Since then, she had returned to her room and dressed appropriately for the guest she knew was coming - a white cotton skirt with a lace-up corset, and white ribbons adorned her ankles and wrists. She retracted her wings, and lay on her elaborately carved bed, trying to stop herself from being forced back into the visions that had been haunting her on and off for days.
When she heard the familiar voice calling through the caverns, she smiled. Getting up, she walked over the fluttering purple veil that divided her from the main area of the hideaway, and pushed it aside, her slender form leaning against the stone frame. Her ethereal eyes fell upon the charasmatic Vampire, and she laughed softly under her breath. "Welcome back, dearest Acerbus."

One of the two silent craters in the cluster of holes in the Hideaway floor suddenly burst to life before the Valkerie and Vampire. Green fire rose and fell from the deep of the crater alongside the other flames, signifying that the Valkerie who owned the crater had returned home.
For five minutes, the fire burned without any Valkeries appearing. Then at last the fire rose high to the roof of the cavern, revealing another Valkerie within the flames. His hair was a snow white color, the same as the other Valkerie, and his eyes were a pale blue. He had large black wings, and an equally black ashen robe.
He stretched his wings, as well as his arms, and yawned loudly. Surveying the scene carefully, his eyes first went to Whisper...and then to Ace. "Why hello there Acerbus," said Kaiser cheerfully, "Long time no see. How was your time in Morocco?"

Ace smiled in a wily manner as one of the beautifully elegant female Valkeries appeared in the doorway of their bedroom - Whisper. He opened his mouth to reply, when one of the dormant caverns exploded into brilliant green flame.
Ace faltered in his tracks - surely not. It couldn't be... could it?
He turned to Whisper, confusion marring her perfect features as much as his. Clearly her insight into the future had still not given her any clues about this situation. "Whisp, you don't think..."
In a few moments, his unfinished question was answered - the flames towered to the ceiling, and Ace took a step back, not eager to recieve more burns to his flesh. His eyes fixed on the flame, his mouth formed a silent 'O' as a figure formed within it, and stepped out.
In perfect Kaiser style, the Valkerie yawned and stretched his wings, and ignored Whisper, addressing Ace.
"Kai... oh my God... I can't believe it... Kai, what the f*** are you doing here, man?!" Ace crossed the cavern and slapped the Valkerie on the back joyfully. Although he knew that the reappearance of his old acquaintance would prove it only more difficult for him to leave once again, he couldn't help feeling so comforted in knowing he was here - that some things just didn't change.

Knowing perfectly well what Ace meant, Kaiser still insisted on joking with him. "What, I'm not welcome in my own home anymore? Eh, I suppose it was only a matter of time..." Kaiser's eyes turned towards Whisper at this comment. To show his own mutual happiness at seeing Ace after such a long while, he patted the Vampire on the shoulder.
He smiled toward his sister, "How have things been, Whisp? Keeping up without me? I'm sorry about my absence but - you know - a little delayed." It was probably the fifth time he used that excuse that day. His question was a rhetorical one. Of course things had been keeping up, and even if it hadn't he wouldn't mind. He'd actually prefer it if Kasatzia got caught in the engine on the wing of an Airplane.
"And Ace," his eyes moved back to the Vampire, "You still haven't answered my question. How was your trip to Morocco?"

Ace couldn't help the extraordinarily toothy grin that spread across his face - Kaiser, returned from the grave! Kaiser, standing right there, asking how his trip had been! How this place could still surprise him, even when he thought there could be no greater surprises left in store.
"Good, very good actually - made a few good friends, ate good food, generally had a good time... only problem was that their daylight lasts a good hour or two longer than ours. But hey, every silver lining has a cloud, right?"
Ace grinned. He was desperately curious to know how on earth Kaiser had returned, but knew the Valkerie would probably shrug off any questions posed. Ace's green eyes turned to Whisper - how would she react to her brother's return?

As she greeted Ace, a strange kind of quiver shot straight up Whisper's spine. It was no ordinary quiver - Valkeries were not prone to such human sensations - it was as if some kind of magic had temporarily seized hold of her body, uncontrollably.
She turned questioning eyes to Ace, her large ethereal orbs full of innocent confusion - when the middle crater in the floor of the caverns suddenly burst into brilliant green flame... and everything inside the oldest living Valkerie froze. Her dewdrop eyes glistened as a figure appeared in the flame only minutes later, breaking the mesmerized silence that held the two other creatures in the cavern.
Whisper couldn't even speak. Her curved mouth slowly formed the words, brother... and she crossed the cavern with quick steps and flung her slender arms around the neck of her missing brother, the missing piece of the puzzle that had left her so empty, her life paritally incomplete, for months now.
After a moment, Whisper seemed to recover from her sudden bout of emotion, and slid apart from her handsome younger brother. Smiling tenderly, she tilted her platinum blonde head slightly to one side, considering him.
"It is good to have you home, dearest."

Kaiser smiled as Whisper rushed over and embraced him. He embraced his sister back, and closed his eyes. He smiled, calmly forgetting Acerbus for a few minutes. For the first time in my life... He thought to himself, hoping whisper wouldn't hear him. I'm happy to see my elder sister.
His emotion disappearing at about the same moment as his sister, he removed his arms from her too. "Thank you, elder sister." His thoughts suddenly went to his other sisters, and he turned to look at both his elder sister and Acerbus. "Where are Kasatzia and Desdemona? Do either of you have any idea?"

Whisper shook her head slowly - it had been a long time since she had seen either of her sisters in the Hideaway.
"No... both my sisters seem to be very flighty as of late... Desdemona spent only a few weeks with Kasatzia and I before disappearing without word of her whereabouts, and Kasatzia..."
Whisper's eyes darkened. There were layers of cloud behind them that revealed nothing other than her emotion that was always so closely tied to her favourite sister. "Kasatzia does not spend as much time in the Hideaway as she used to. She has become rather attached to people outside of here... and has no time for the Valkerie family. Though I have no doubt she will be here soon to welcome you..."
Whisper's mouth formed a small smile as she looked at her brother - she knew as well as he that Kasatzia's welcome would be bittersweet - the two had never gotten along.

"Dear sister, what on earth are you talking about?" a smooth voice said from behind the small gathering of people, as the replica of Whisper stepped from her own circle of red flames, a perfectly arched eyebrow raised as she looked at them. "I speak to no one outside of this Hideaway as of late, I have no interest in anything other than being alone. But now I have changed my mind once again, hence my return..."
Kasatzia's eyes drifted around and stared at each face, a tiny smile appearing as she did so.
"...and apparently, I arrived at the opportune moment. Why Acerbus, you're looking well... when on earth did you get back? It's a pleasure to see you, of course."
Her voice was cool and sincere, but the flash behind her eyes perhaps showed that maybe she wasn't being completely honest as she spoke to the Vampire. She had been having the same visions as Whisper, but had ignored them, not interested; for a while she had drifted off into a world of nothing and no one, where the only thing keeping her company was her own 'beating' heart. Now, however, it suddenly felt almost right being back in the hideaway. Almost.
Walking forward, and slipped her slender arms around Whisper's waist, pulling her close in an intimate embrace as only she would do with her sisters, though rarely with Desdemona. She slowly pulled away, before smiling fondly and gently at her darling sister.
Now, Kasatzia turned to the last of the three.
"Why Kaiser," she said quietly, her eyes searching his face. "You've been gone an awfully long time."

Whisper kept her silence as her sister entered amongst the gathered group. Although inside she quivered at her sister's touch, at their long-missed closeness, she uttered not a word - she knew without being told that Kasatzia was repossessing her, subtly defying her brother in showing that Whisper was evermore hers than ever could be his.
Whisper's large, reflective eyes turned to their brother, full of compassion. In moments like this, people should cry, should laugh, knowing they are united as a family, as it should be. But looking at the estranged siblings, she knew it would never be that way again. Never.
"One. Big. Happy. Family."
The words were under her breath, but knew that at least Acerbus would hear her. His hearing didn't miss a thing, as she had well learned. She glanced at him, wondering how far he could see into the workings of the Valkerie family... whether he knew Whisper's secret... whether he had returned merely to jest at how Magic Horizons was falling without him...
"Shall I open a bottle of wine?" said Whisper, her composure not diminished in the slightest.

"What a splendid idea, Whisper," Kasatzia replied, before looking at Kaiser again. She couldn't help but smile a little.
"I must admit brother, it's very strange seeing you again. But regardless to how you assume I feel, it is actually rather nice to have you back."

Ace accepted a glass of red wine from Whisper and took a sip of it - generally he didn't drink alcohol, and when he did it certainly wasn't wine - but he had a feeling he should be silent for a while. Besides, watching the Valkerie siblings quarrel in total silence was rather entertaining. It was like watching an unspoken conversation between all three of them; and Whisper, he noticed, was holding back. He met her eyes briefly, but looked away. He had no right trespassing here.
"Well... you guys obviously have a lot of catching up to do," said the Vampire brusquely, placing his half-drunk glass on the cavern floor, and looking around at the immaculate trio. "So... I'm just... going to... yeah. 'Bye."
With that, Ace left, unsure of where to go now... anywhere but here...
