No... let me out of this dream... I don't like it anymore... LET ME OUT.
Kasatzia woke from her gentle slumber with a sudden gasp of breath, her heart racing beneath her chest. She sat up, her eyes burning an amazing white, so bright it glowed around the room.
"Whisper?" she whispered to herself as she stood, the length of her white silk nightgown falling to her ankles. She padded out of her room, her beautiful features lit in the firelight. "Whisper, hurry."

Whisper smiled gently to herself as she flew up from the trees of the Forbidden Forest. Flicking a speck of blood from her arm, her black leathery wings beat against the winds of the sky as they carried her over the Forest, her attentive ethereal eyes cast over the shadowy trees below.
All of a sudden, Whisper doubled up in the sky, and almost fell from it in sudden shock. Her eyes a blazing white, she fell a few feet in the air before she gathered the strength to keep herself airborne, her wings trying their best as Whisper let out a piercing, ungodly shriek that sent every animal within the darkness to run for cover.
"No..." she whispered hoarsely, the pain flooding through her almost overpowering her completely. She waited until it had subsided... leaving her with a dull hollowness inside. She had felt this emptiness once before, and she knew what it meant.
Entering the Valkeries' Hideaway, the first thing she saw were her sisters' white eyes staring into her, just as Whisper's were staring at Kas. Without a word, the girls rushed forward and embraced each other in a clinging hug as they fell in a heap of black and white on the hot stone floor.

The sisters collapsed together, hearts beating painfully underneath the silk. Kasatzia had never held her sister so close... but she needed the comfort, the dumb comfort that was so generous to her at that moment.
"What happened... Kaiser... he... so much heat..."
Kasatzia pulled away, gazing into Whisper's eyes and seeing her own frightened face in them.
"How did he... why? Doesn't he love us, sister? What did we do wrong?"

Whisper shook her head slowly, delicate strands of her platinum blonde hair spilling over her shoulders. Her expression was one of deep pain and worry - her breath was shallow and when she spoke, it was in a sweet but breathless voice.
"No..." she said, as another white hot wave of pain shivered through her slender frame. "It wasn't... it's not his fault. He died by the hand of someone else, he... he didn't even know."
Taking deep breaths, she clung to her sister even tighter, letting her slim fingers run through her sister's silken hair. Knowing that Kasatzia was feeling exactly the same as Whisper somehow made things more comforting - every stab of pain Whisper recieved she knew she was sharing with her sister.
Still looking anguished, Whisper pulled back slightly from Kas, and cast her startled gaze around the Hideaway. "Wh-where is Des? She... she has to be feeling this too..."

Realising that their youngest sister was not there, Kasatzia was about to open her mouth to speak, but was intercepted by her oldest sister. Whisper's voice was gentle, and it somehow soothed Kasatzia.
Suddenly, the now-middle-sister was feeling extremely vulnerable, something she was not very accustomed too. As Whisper ran her fingers through her hair, she closed her eyes. Their bodies were slightly furthur apart now, but she still felt more close to her sister than ever before.
Desdemona... where are you, sister?

Whisper sighed gently. The pain was lessening now, and her sense of her brother was fading as he passed over into realms unknown.
A tiny tear trickled down the side of her face that was turned away from Kasatzia; Whisper quickly raised a hand to wipe it away without allowing her sister to notice. She still hadn't informed Kasatzia of the unfortunate side-effects of the gift she had given to Branwen, and was unwilling to let such a triviality interrupt them now, when they really needed each other.
Letting out a quivery sort of sigh, Whisper laid back on the stone floor and face the towering rocky ceiling that Wilting Rose had so kindly enchanted to make it look as though it was always night; the stars twinkled knowingly above them.
"The pain is gone," said Whisper eventually, not removing her violet gaze from the ceiling.

"I know, sister," Kasatzia replied quietly, watching her sister as she lay on the ground. "I can feel it leaving."
She smiled weakly, bringing her knees up to her chin. The physical pain may have gone, but the strange sense of grief that was now pounding through Kasatiza did not lessen. A tiny sigh escaped her, leaving her feeling empty and lonely.
"Three Valkerie's," Kasatzia whispered, eyes burning. "Three."

Whisper nodded slowly. "Three..."
Whisper let her sister's eyes burn into the side of her face as her own gazed upwards, lost in thought. Had it really been that much of a surprise? Alakin had been weak, and foolish; it was clear from the beginning that she would die. And Kaiser... well, he had always bent the rules a little more than the girls would ever have done, and always leaped headfirst into situations where it would usually have been better to ask some questions beforehand.
With another gently breezing sigh, Whisper pushed herself up, then leant on Kasatzia's shoulder. "You'll always have me, Kas," she whispered softly. "I will never leave you."

A strange prickling sensation attacked the back of her eyes, but she ignored it. It was some kind of human emotion that she'd refused to use since...
Since the death of the one she loved.
"And I, you," she replied softly, lacing her fingers with Whispers as the two stared ahead of them. "I don't think I could live a day without you, Whisper my darling."
She pressed her lips against Whisper's cheek, feeling a slightly happier feeling tingling inside of her, the usual pleased sensation that she got from spending time with her beloved sister.

Whisper felt the increasing rise in her dear sister's emotion, matching her own exactly. They let the silence fall between them as they stared off into the endless distance, letting their slightly humane side take over them; bathing in the fullness of their feelings. Sadness, despair, love, confusion, warmth, security... This odd mixture would be enough to render a regular human to a quivering wreck on the very edge of insanity.
But the Valkeries sat side by side, simultaneously ignoring the prickling feeling behind their eyes, until the emotion had washed away to nothing but a calm lapping against the shores of their black-tinged hearts.
