The night was cool and damp with the morning dew. The sun had not yet risen above the horizon. The sounds of fluttering wings as birds awakened and crickets chirping could be heard as it neared dawn. Night was fading fast as the sun creped toward the horizon. The sound of footsteps could be heard echoing threw the trees
Two crimson eyes seemed to be reveled as night pulled back it's natural veil over the world. He walked gently threw the fallen and dead leaves that now litter the ground. It was this time of day that always made him smile a little. He loved nature, being part of it himself, it was understandable. He was clothed in a a long trench coat and a pair of black jean pants, along with a dark blue t-shirt.
His red eyes moved over the trees around him searching for the scent that had caught his nose from the moment he came threw the school gates. The scent was that of other lycans, at least two packs and even more rogues. He followed his senses toward the scent as he neared the tunnels. He knew the rules of Lycans fairly well, he had been turned only a year ago last December. He remembered that night as clearly as he had the next day, the feeling of fangs in his shoulder the whisper of a voice in his mind speaking gently to him cooing in his head.
He shook the thoughts away as he tried to focus on the task at hand. His nose told him he was getting close and he had come to trust the primal desires and senses when they spoke to him. After all they where as much a part of him as anything had been when he was human. His eyes scanned over the area till they rested on a small opening. It had to be the entrance to the den of this pack. He had heard sparse rumors of Tunnels that lay on the school ground, occupied by a lycan pack, quaintly called Tunnel Lycans.
Of course he had not ignored the other rumors as well, of the pack in the forest. He had caught their scent to but had not gone to investigate them yet. They where said to be the more animal like clan, the ones who would kill first them try to aska few questions. The little saying he had made up when reading of them came to mind 'Bite first, bite late, bite some more, and when everyone is dead try to ask a question or two.' it always brought a smile to his face every time he thought of a clan like them.
His face slowly lost his smile as he looked at the entrance of the tunnels. He walked forward up to the entrance of the tunnels and waited for a moment allowing his scent to be blown into the tunnels by the gentle breeze. After a moment to allow them to prepare he entered slowly. Walking down into the much cooler tunnel air. He shivered slightly as he walked down, his trench coat providing fine protection against the cold but the excitement combined with the little cold caused shivers to run down his spine.

But the stranger was not alone. A figure, shadowed in black, glided silently behind the Lycan. As the unannounced male stopped for a moment, the figure behind him flicked his katana out of its sheath that hid beneath his black cape. The gleaming metal shined in the moonlight as it was forced up against the stranger's throat. The figure made sure that he was not touching the newcomer so that he would not know his exact position and attempt a counterattack.
"Speak quickly and speak quietly. Who are you and why are you here? Be careful what you say, for this blade can slice clean through your trachea with a flick of my wrist," spoke an angry, threatening, masculine voice.
Beneath the dark cape burned a pair of orange eyes, a hint of green hair poking out the front of the hood. The figure's breath was silent, his senses alert, his muscles tense.
Trust no one. That was the swordsman's newest revelation. After all that had happened in the Tunnels, he didn't have much of a choice. The figure had a right to protect those most precious to him. Intruders were not welcome in his home.

The figure moved swiftly behind him and held a blade to his neck before Phoenix could fully understand the events taking place. He cursed himself silently for not paying closer attention to his surrounding. His eyes moved as far as they could behind him his hands lay limp as his sides he didn't have a reason to fight back. Though he was surprised that the man was using a sword at all. He toke a swallow breath careful to move his neck back just enough to allow for a breath to be drawn.
He didn't move as he spoke making sure to keep his throat as still as possible. "Phoenix." He said his name softly as the man had said quietly. "I came here, because I could smell lycans here, I heard about the tunnel and wanted to see them for myself." his throat tapped the blade a few times not hard enough to slice skin clean threw but it slice a very fine line in his neck. His eyes moved slowly to the blade careful to avoid hitting the same slice to many times over to avoid bleeding out.
His crimson eyes held to the blade for a moment before letting his eyes wander back to the figure, or as close to him as he could see. "I am no enemy so you can lower your sword." He said voice holding firm but his eyes showing a little concern about the blade at his neck. His hand twitched as his nerves began to show a little bit more every passing moment.
His mind began to run threw how he had gotten into this predicament in the first place. He knew going into a Lycan den was not the smartest thing to do but he had merely wished to greet fellow lycans something he had not done often, not having met more then a handful. He looked into the darkness closing his crimson eyes for a moment to calm himself, almost immediately his hands stopped quivering.
As he opened his eyes his body felt more relaxed as he focused on staying calm. He knew the limits to his body and his reaction speed but still that left the figure's abilities a big question mark. He would not risk making a defensive or offensive move till he learned more about this man.

Ooc: Damnit.
Ic: "Speak quickly and speak quietly. Who are you and why are you here? Be careful what you say, for this blade can slice clean through your trachea with a flick of my wrist,"
Rogue's pale lashes parted and she opened her lilac eyes wide, a wave of discomfort settling somewhere in her gut. Her body rose from her bed smoothly, her silky, snow-white hair spilling down over her shoulder and spine swiftly. Clad in a ragged, worn grey dress which loosely hung off her abnormally slim frame, she let her silent feet come against the floor of her den and she crept to the doorway.
A hand braced it's frame delicately and she peered around the corner, her lavender orbs connecting with irises of red. She almost gasped, half of her insides flipping as though she were about to faint. Her mind screamed vampire until the strong scent of an unfamiliar male lycan brushed under her nostrils and she let out a shaky sigh.
She strode out from her den, the poise and strength of a elder lycaness accenting her graceful yet small form. Hardening her look on the male she tilted her chin sideways and raised a brow at the male inquisitively. Xavier, for goodness sake lower your katana. Her telepathic voice growled at him, and only him. Stopping a meter from the other male she crossed her arms automatically over her chest and shifted her weight to one hip.
Her intent eyes set like stone on his. It was almost as if her and Xavier had swapped roles. Instead of her threatening to slit the throat of any stranger - and doing so without question half the time - now he had a weapon at the man's throat, and instead of Xavier approaching them calm and collected, Rogue did.
Though she had caught his name, Phoenix, and his reason for being here, so she merely shot Xavier another look that could have brought down an army had her and him not been old friends. Then she uttered not a single word, but made her way over to the fireplace and began stacking up wood to form a fire. She had the feeling they were going to be here for a while.

He caught the scent before his eyes caught sight of her. The scent of a female was something naturally detectable by the male of the species senses. He looked into her eyes and for a moment just a moment he saw anger and fear then it melted away almost as fast as it had come. She was beautiful as where most female lycans though to a male most females were beautiful.
When she approached him her eyes met with the figure behind him telling him that they where speaking and leaving him out of that little conversation. His eyes met her lilac eyes for a moment then as she moved away he let out a weak sigh. He watched her for a moment seeing her stack wood for what had to be a fire. What this meant he was not clear on, did she not see a point in this or was she merely trying to keep busy.
He had always hated it when other lycans blocked their thoughts to him it made him feel so human and out of touch with his own kind. He expected it here he was after all the outsider. He waited for the male behind him to act before he would make a move. It was hard to wait but it was the only smart thing to do, the alternative was to lose his head figuratively and literally.

The cloaked man gave a toothy grin as Phoenix introduced himself. "Phoenix, eh? Nice name. Why do you search us out? I smell your Lycan scent, but I have no reason to trust you unless you can prove otherwise. Why shouldn't I slit your throat and toss your limp body into the lake, hmm? You've seen the Tunnels, and you've met a Lycan. I believe that qualifies as everything you wanted to do," he said with a growl. As the crimson-eyed Lycan spoke of friendship, something nagged in the shadow's head and he considered lowering the blade for a split second. Then as Rogue appeared and spoke to him telepathically, the stranger sighed and slipped the blade beneath his cloak, then removed his hood and shook his forest green hair free of its cloth restraint, blinking his amber eyes twice as the moonlight shined down in his face. "Right...sorry Rogue. Wasn't sure who this kid was." The stranger, identified by Rogue as Xavier, patted the other male Lycan gently on the shoulder. "Sorry, mate. No hard feelings, okay?" he asked as he followed Rogue into the main chamber and assisted her in building up the stack of lumber for the fire that was soon to embrace the room in its light and warmth. On his way in, Xavier undid the clasp for his cloak that hung around his neck, revealing his sheathed katana which hung from a tie around his belt. He removed the weapon and placed it on one of the tables in the room, then knelt down next to Rogue and adjusted a few of the logs before taking a lighter out of his pocket and looking at Rogue. "Okay if I light this baby?" he said with a smile. OOC: Notice the lack of a comma in that sentence, so Xavier's not referring to Rogue when he says "baby." Just thought I'd clear that so I didn't lose anything precious to me.

Phoenix stood there as the man spoke before lowering the sword. He sighed again as the man lowered the blade form his neck and sheathed it. He watched the two and could tell they where good friends. Though he had not moved sense the man walked by him. He waited till the man was a nice distance from his sword before relaxing his body to normal.
"No hard feelings." He said softly watching his tone to keep it soft, he had a feeling these halls echoed loudly. He watched them start to try and make a fire. He didn't move to much as he watched them feeling like he was gonna mess something up.
He had noticed Xavier's comment about his name and he smiled as he remembered it. Phoenix always got that reaction with his name. He knew that people found it odd and most thought it was a nickname which it sorta was. He really didn't use his human name anymore, he had been given it after his turning by his lycan mother.
He moved slowly into the main chamber following them both. He could feel the slight chill in the air that seemed to get cooler as he walked further into the chamber. He was sure each little den room had it's own little fireplace to keep the rooms warm in the dead of winter. He was sure if he checked the surface he would find small holes that worked as vents to the different rooms. He watched them for a few more moment before speaking "Whats your name?" He ask the male calmly and politely.

It had only occurred to the pup that day Morgana had come back home about how much his mother had been a part of the tunnels; a part of his home. A sudden wave of patrioticness showered over him as he lay in Sealla's old chamber, curled in a grey ball on the floor. She was a big part, and he had never known, nor been told. Then came the memory of the Vampire attack, and he snorted in protest.
A strange scent wafted past his muzzle. A dangerous scent. Who was there? A growl came from within the boy's throat as he lifted his head from the ground, the blacks of his lips curling up in a snarl. Surely his papa would have seen to them by now, and tossed them out of the tunnels. And what about the others? Alissa. Cealla. Rogue and Morgana. He hoped they were ok.
Still growling, the not-yet-fully-grown Lycan trotted out of the cave and into the main chamber. There was Rogue and his papa setting up a fire, whilst a stranger was watching their backs. He's going to get them! Stab them in the back! Get them while they're turned! NO! Letting out a huff of air, he leapt from the shadows. Although he was a light-weight of a Lycan because of his age, the pup managed to topple the man to the ground.
LEAVE THEM ALONE! Can't you just go away?! You're just like the Vampires! And the other Lycans! You won't attack my family again! he shrieked at the top of his lungs as he tore away with his claws into the man's back. You're like the rest of them! He yelled again, sinking his jaws into the man's shoulder and tearing out a portion of his neck muscle with jagged movements.
But it was then that the boy Lycan felt light-headed, with the chunk of meat in his mouth. His emerald eyes rolled into the back of his head, and he fell off the stranger limply onto the ground beside him. Being a pup still he had to learn how to fight properly, and so it was all a bit much for him to take in. But after a few seconds, he came to, and chomped on the bit of Lycan he had in his mouth with a snarl, still lying on his side.

The pup was fast Phoenix would give him that. Foolish but fast he would have to agree. Phoenix rose to his knees and his head turned to look at the boy. His crimson eyes falling on the snarling child. A pup who acted far to beast like for his own good. It was one thing to attack a known enemy or a potential threat but to attack someone for merely being there was no reason at all. His anger was inflamed but he would not lose himself to it.
He rose to his feet his eyes on the child. His hand went to his new wound. He touched his bleeding neck wincing as his finger tips touched the open wound. He looked at the two elder lycans. "Know this one do you?" He said his tone colder then he would have liked his anger showing threw a little.
He looked again at the little pup "Why did you attack me?". He ask him his eyes showing clearly that he was not happy. Phoenix liked kids normally but this one seriously pissed him off with that attack on him. He touched the wound again, only to find that the wound was now starting to heal.

Ooc: Lol Xavier! XD Ic: Rogue lazily picked at larger logs, hoping to make the fire last, before stacking a few pieces of kindling on the top. Xavier sheathed his weapon, and she turned and offered him a faint smile that could have read nobody would blame you, but it was left there and she turned back to the fire. A moment later Xavier was by her side fiddling with the newly stacked logs, a lighter in his hand. When he asked to light it she nodded briefly, before moving away and over to a long deep red rug just by the fire. It was often her settling place, and it even had her scent embedded on it, along with many tiny strands of her snow-white pelt. As she moved over to it - crawling on hands and knees - she melted easily into the form of a purely-vanilla she-wolf. Her paws stepped onto the rug and she circled it twice like a cat might, before curling up and settling down with her bushy tail tucked around her front. Her unreadable lilac eyes were resting on the wood of the fire and it's intricate designs as Phoenix asked Xavier his name. That much was for Xavier to give, and Rogue let a loose sigh escape her muzzle and she slowly relaxed. Suddenly though, her ears perked forward and she cocked her head up quickly. She was sure she had heard something. Hardly a moment passed before a very familiar voice yelled out loudly at the newcomer and Rogue was on all fours, watching hopelessly as Sean dashed out of the tunnels and hurled himself at Phoenix; jaws bared. She she-wolf barked and her paws shifted into action as she sped across the room, gazing on as Sean fell off the man and his eyes seemed to completely drift out of focus. She rushed up to his side, and instinctively her jaws collected the rough fur on his neck and she propped him up into a sitting position, her leathery tongue automatically running down the side of his cheek in concern. Sean! What...Wh..Are you alright? She muttered telepathically, glancing over at Phoenix to see his wound slowly healing. She turned back to the pup before realising her whole frame was over him protectively, when in fact he was not hers to protect at all. Almost embarrassed, knowing Xavier was in the room, Rogue hastily flinched backward and simply began to back up, her tail coming very close to between her legs as she studied the ground. What had come over Rogue all of a sudden? What had come over Sean all of a sudden? A protective instinct. A bond?

The ruckus in the main chamber, though quiet, awoke Faith from her peaceful slumber. Hauling herself out of her nice, warm bed, the slight blonde grumpily went to see what was going on. Stifling a yawn as she walked down the hallway, Faith rubbed at her eyes tiredly.
Appearing the doorway to the Main Chamber, Faith let out a large yawn, stretching her arms high above her head, causing her small white tee to rise up, making he abdomen visible, along with the top of her female-boxer-shorts which were only practically covered, considering the fact that her PJ bottoms were close to being around her knees.
Running a hand through her mussed hair as she looked around, Faith quirked an eyebrow slightly. Pulling her PJ bottoms up, the slight blonde gained a slightly more confused look. Some random guy was standing there, bleeding, and Sean was on the floor, snarling and chewing on what looked like the males flesh.
Unable to suppress her laughter, Faith clamped her hand over her mouth, “So, uhm, he got the better of you, I see? Odd… Seeing as how he barely reaches… You kneecap…” She said, in a muffled voice, as her hand was over her mouth.
Walking over to where Xavier was, the blonde lycaness gave him a pat on the shoulder, “Despite the whole… It being not so good randomly attacking someone thing, he seems to have great potential for an amazing hunter, eh?” She said, grinning at Xavier, a little sleepily.

Another scent hit his nose before he saw her. Another female, this one clearly had been asleep and the noise of the attack had forced her to wake up. He didn't say anything for a moment about she had been laughing while she commented on the pups attack. He looked between her and the pup but said nothing for the time being. It was Rogue's actions that actually startled him when she reacted to the pup.
Her actions where maternal in nature he was sure of that. She was protective of the pup there was no big surprise there but the manner in which she seemed startled by it confused him. He watched her for a moment before answering the second girl. "He is skilled at blind attacks but it is not likely any enemy of his will ever willing stand by to be attacked." He said calmly touching the wound again gently.
The wound was mending itself nicely knitting back the muscles and flesh that had been torn away by the little fangs. His eyes went to the boy "I am not here to harm anyone child, I assure you of that." He said calmly to the boy. "He will make a good hunter yes, but if he keeps that up he will attack the wrong creature and get himself hurt.". He stopped for a moment to sigh "I think I should go before I get attacked yet again." he said simply to them all.

She wasn't that much bigger than him; Rogue to Sean. But she was still big enough to move him, and that was what she did. It was a hard thing to accomplish, spitting in wolven form. But it was done, he spat at the ground near to where the stranger was, reminents of the male's muscle splattering.
You know why I attacked you! Don't you pretend you don't, you... you traiter! the glare was just as cold as the white wolf's one toward him, if not icyer, as Rogue gently put him down. He slumped to the floor, but was then picked up onto his feet.
It was a funny sight for anyone staring that wasn't in the line of fire; the not-yet-fully-grown pup had a very awkward stance of another prepared attack, but it was then that another walked in. It was Faith, one he'd only met a week ago. She laughed at his misfortune, and a grin twigged on his muzzle.
You're not welcome here stranger! He barked in his high-pitched voice as he strode to Rogue and sat himself in front of her. Then the lone Lycan spoke. Don't call me child! I can take you on any day! So get out of here before I take that up! The boy barked and snarled once, twice, three times then stopped.
I agree with you! Go! Make like a tree and leave! Scat! He continued to bark after that was said, and he lifted his rear from the ground, standing in a warning position with his brushy grey tail held high. No attacker would ever succeed with Sean around, even if they did have to leave in the end from annoyance.

Xavier knelt over the logs, lighting the tinder periodically to even out the fire. The Lycan's lighter was a Zippo, a common yet admired model in muggle society. It had an engraving of two names entwined around each other, with a third in the center. They were all in Latin, however, if one knew that long-forgotten language, they would find that Sealla's and Xavier's names were entwined around each other, with Sean's resting between the two in a small opening. Xavier had visited a nearby muggle town recently and aquired the lighter after special-ordering it from a local manufacturer. Since some time had passed since Sealla's death, Xavier wanted something physical to remember her by. The flame that emitted from the top of the lighter was a jet blue color with an orange center, symbolizing both Sealla and Xavier as one. As the other male inquired his name, Xavier turned his head around for a moment and smiled.
"Xavier Valoron. But nobody ever uses my last name anymore. So Xavier should suffice. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance."
It only seemed like a few seconds had passed after he had flicked on his lighter and was applying flame as needed to the freshly built fuel. But in that few seconds, a lot seemed to happen. It seemed as if time itself had sped up, leaving him behind to cough in the dust of the past...
Xavier sensed another Lycan presence. It was Sean, probably coming over to check on the commotion. The elder Lycan smiled slightly. Curiousity was such a blessing, yet a terrible curse, as well. But in this case, there was no danger, so his son's curiosity amused him. After Rogue had changed forms and settled down nearby, Xavier was about to speak to Sean when an alarming string of sentences caught the Elder off guard. Sean seemed to think that Phoenix was a threat. He dropped his lighter, which fell into the bright orange embers, yet that was the last thing on Xavier's mind.
"Sean, no! Stop! He's not here to harm any of us!" he cried as his son tore out a chunk of the man's shoulder with his teeth. Xavier stood up and began to rush over to his son's aid, only to find that Rogue had beaten him to it. She covered his son like a mother would. That stunned the forest-haired Lycan for a moment before he let out a sigh and dropped to the floor in a sitting position, legs crossed. As Rogue backed away, seemingly embarassed, Xavier got up again and went over to Sean, rubbing him between the ears lovingly.
"You know, Sean, in most normal circumstances, I'd be pretty upset about you attacking a friend of ours without question, but I'm not. You did the right thing," he said with a smile before turning to Phoenix, whose wound was well on the way to healing completely.
"I must apologize for my son's actions. He probably assumed that you were here to harm us."
As Faith entered the room and commented on Sean's success as a hunting prodigy, Xavier chuckled.
"Yes, I think he'll do just fine in that regard, although Phoenix does have a point. I'm sure he'll learn quickly given the opportunity. And please, Phoenix, you don't need to leave," he said, turning to the other male. "I assure you that won't happen a second time. Please, sit and stay for a while. It's the least we can do for causing you so much trouble."
As Sean continued to act in a hostile manner towards Phoenix, Xavier shot his son a scolding glance and spoke to him telepathically.
Behave yourself, Sean! This man has done nothing to anger you, and I have already made sure that he does not pose a threat. Now I want you to apologize to him immediately. I commend you for your quick actions, but this was not the right time to use them. Now I want you to tell him in person that you're sorry...right now.
A scowl crossed Xavier's face and he restrained himself from lashing out at his son vocally. This was the first time he'd ever felt this way towards Sean. He hoped he would never feel it again. Then the Lycan sighed and thought to himself.
So this is fatherhood...

Rogue swallowed and settled back on her haunches, still avoiding any eyes as the commotion grew more heated and Sean spat several more threats at Phoenix. Surprise was overwhelmed by admiration as Sean backed up and sat in front of Rogue, almost accepting of her actions, or protective of her. Either way, Rogue was certain Sean knew who he was positioned in front of, and it made her smile inwardly.
Faith exited her room and Rogue glanced over, chuckling inwardly at the other lycaness's words to Phoenix. Xavier then came over and rubbed Sean between the ears, and Rogue looked up, about to apologise, but considered this hardly the time, and so she remained silent, watching.
When Phoenix mentioned departing before her was attacked again, Rogue said nothing, she merely concluded that he must not have been desperate to house himself that night if he was prepared to leave after a single act of hostility from a teenage pup. Then again, Rogue put herself in the position of Phoenix and considered the fiery pup's threats. It did not seem welcoming at all.
Leaving Xavier to scold Sean, Rogue simply kept her forepaws neatly in front of her as she sat, ears twirling to whomever was passing comments telepathically. She was quite comforted with Sean sitting so close, but of course she kept this to herself, and merely savoured it by not moving. Surely nobody would notice.
