It would have amazed her, had she not already known, how much work a secretary did for their boss. The Ministress was far from stressing her out with tons of papers to sift through (in fact, Carmen was sure that Kiki was doing some of the work herself for the moment so that she couldn't effect the girl too much), but it was still enough to keep her occupied in her time. Behind the desk that was beside the door for the office of the MoM was Carmen. The Hufflepuffian of Magic Horizons. Who would have thought that such a student (with a C+ average) could get into such a high position. Not that she was some sort of Auror or something. But then, after reading through a letter from Buckingham Palace addressed to the Control of Magical Creatures department, a piece of parchment attracted her blue eyes, stained with a few blotches of blood. But there was something different about this blood. It was.... purple? Written in the same colour, scribbled, was what Carmen could make out, Ministress, Something happened. The thestrals are out of control here, ramming and attacking everyone they see- But why hadn't they seen it in the papers? -please! They've killed- And that was it, the rest of the ink was smudged with the seemingly purple blood, which none of it she could make out. "Uh... Kiki..." the girl called whilst staring at the letter in her shaking hand. "You might want to see this," she called a little louder through the closed door.

Kiki had just finished drafting several letters to the Head of Gringotts and the 'genius' behind the latest plot for a goblin rebellion petitioning for higer wages and aiming it at the Ministry. Kiki explained carefully in her letters that she was not in charge of the way that Gringotts allocated their regular pay-checks and could the goblins please reconsider their terms - a goblin village was acceptable but in the middle of Muggle London?
She linked her fingers together and stretched her arms out in front of her, listening to one of the former Ministeresses tell Kiki about the last goblin rebellion and Kiki listened good-naturedly when there was a knock at the door. The hesitancy in Carmen's voice made Kiki stand up and walk over to the door herself - the second uncertain sentence made Kiki pull the door open a little more aggresively than she usually would've.
"What's wrong, Carm?" She asked, then took the parchment from Carmen's hand, reading what she could of its scant contents. Her heart falling to the pit of her stomach, she strode back over to her desk, placing the parchment on a clear space then pulled out her wand. She pointed it at the parchment and muttered an incantation. Some of the ink/blood cleared a little but no more of the letter was visible. Reading it over again, Kiki pulled over a loose sheet of parchment and scribbled down a hasty letter. She prodded the original with her wand and it Duplicated itself several times.
"Carmen, please turn those into memos and send them to the Department of Mysteries, Magical Creatures.." She rattled off a list and then walked over to her bookcase, trying to find a book that would give her the information she needed, swearing underneath her breath, suddenly under a fair amount of stress and worry.

Well, either way, her job was probably neither less nor more easier with Carmen helping out with the secretarial time. Soon as Ki had taken the paper from Carmen's hand and scanned it, the blue-haired girl noticed that her face had dropped into a mixture of anxiety and anger, along with the usual level-headedness. That was something she envied in the Ministress. Carmen was never always clear in thinking when it came to tight situations.
The moment Ki had run off a list of departments to send the copied letters to, her wand shot from her hand to scribble like a biro onto some spare parchment each and every word Kiki had uttered. Once she had finished, the wand dropped to the table and Carmen took the papers to a little box for each department on the wall. Opening the lid for each, she let a copy fall into it, immediately disappearing to be sent directly to the head of the departments.
"Ki, did you want me to send for a meeting of sorts? The letters are sent." Oh, Carmen only hoped there was at least one way she could help.

Kiki turned absently, balancing three books on each arm and flipping frantically through a seventh that rested in her left hand. It took several moments before it registered that Carmen was addressing her in regard to a meeting with the Heads of various Departments. Trying to control a million thoughts at once, Kiki turned back into her book, found the page she was after, swore when it didn't hold the information she wanted, snapped 'Evanesco' and the book disappeared in mid air as she threw it over her shoulder, promptly turning to the next.
"Sorry, Carm, slightly distracted." She growled frustratedly as the second book she'd been flipping through held no answers for her either. She repeated the same gesture she had with the first and then stopped.
"We'll wait for the memos to come back. No doubt the Department of Mysteries will already know more than we do." Kiki stamped her foot, annoyed, and then threw her arms in the air, books and all, then shouted 'Evanesco!' and they all disappeared before they hit the floor.

It seemed as though Kiki was lost for answers. The Ministress of Magic, not knowing what to do, really. It didn't matter to Carmen, because she knew that her fellow Auzzie would pull through, finding at least one thing within a book somewhere. Everything had to be documented somewhere. It was just a matter of finding it, that's all. Heh, sometimes it was rather rewarding to remain optimistic in situations like this.
"Don't worry about it, Ki. You've a lot on your plate, it's expected." Carmen comforted a little. Just as she had finished her sentance, one after the next, the messages' replies had arrived in the boxes Carmen had originally placed the first papers in. Quickly she bustled to each box and pulled out the messages, piling them into one hand, then passed them to Kiki. What would they say? How much more would they know than Carmen and Kiki?
