Vixen had walked through the doors of the Ministry of Magic before, shy and self-concious.
Today she was riding on the back of her griffon, Jo, whom she had raised from a hatchling. In her arms, Vixen was restraining Samantha, Jo's hatchling, with supreem confidence, despite the struggles and slashing claws of a chick who wanted to fly all over the building and poo on someone.
When Jo reached the front desk, Vixen slid off of the griffon's feathered back, keeping her hands firmly around her grand-daughter/chick.
"Registration of magical creatures born in the care of a witch or wizard." She said to the clerk. She didn't like the word "captivity", besides, she didn't keep Jo captive, Jo just stayed.
It was Sam she was trying to hold still, not her mother.
The clerk extended a shaking hand, a finger pointing in the direction Vix hoped was the right one. She doubted the clerk even knew where he was pointing.
"Thank you." She said, and climbed back up to Jo's back.
He was a bit shakey, Jo commented.
"We might have shocked him." Vixen whispered.
Jo nodded, and stopped to tell off her egg-chick for going on so much before following the clerk's directive.
Children are a lot of trouble. I don't know how you managed, Ma. Jo said to Vix, via their telapathic link.
"Patience, mountains of it." She replied.
"I think that's the door." She said a few minutes later, they had reached an archway that gave the impression of magical beast registration.
Jo stopped to let Vixen get down and lead the way.
Vix knocked first, and peered through. It would be rude to interrupt somone else doing the same.
