Rowan walked timidly into the Ministry. After his long and unexplained absence, he wasn't sure about his welcome here, anymore. Still, he had a responsability once, and though he had to leave, he still took it seriously.
Looking around the front parlor, he silently waited by the reception desk until the Head Auror, or the Ministress could see him. He didn't want to just barge in.

Rowan didn't have to wait long before the doors that he'd come in by swung open again, though in contrast to Rowan's entrance, you certainly couldn't call this girl's entrance timid. Rather, despite a young face that one would more expect to find in a classroom of sixth or seventh year students than working at the Ministry of Magic, there was an air of bored familiarity about her that said she'd been here many times before. Hikalyn had come to put in a few hours at the office, something which had become fairly routine for her over the past few months. Usually, there wasn't much around to interupt that routine either, but when she recognized the man standing somewhat uncomfortably by the reception desk, she did a double take.
"Hiya, Rowan," she called out in greeting to her fellow Auror, absently fingering a lock of black hair and crossing the room to stand beside him. "Long time, no see."

"Hi Kalyn" Rowan grinned. It seemed he wouldn't be thrown over the balcony after all. "Yeah, it has been. I was called away to deal with soem things.." He patted the broadsword that was sheathed on his back, the only visable weapon besides the silver rapier at his side.
"I hope things haven't been too much around here?" he grinned at the girl, who was also his superior officer.

"No, things have been pretty slow around here, actually. For which I suppose we should be grateful," Hikalyn added wryly, her smile twisting into more of a smirk, if a good-natured one. She tipped her head to one side to regard Rowan with a shrewd, curious gaze. "So you've been keeping busy, I trust? Had a good summer and all that?" Though Rowan had been evasive about exactly what matters had called him away, Hikalyn wouldn't inquire any more directly than that light, perhaps even flippant question. That much was his affair, not hers.
Even so, and although he spoke glibly about "dealing with some things", she had to admit that the way he'd patted the hilt of the broadsword strapped so comfortably to his back as he'd spoken the words had her wondering.

Rowan smiled, a mostly relieved smile, "Good, I am glad to hear that I haven't let you down too much."
At the mention of his summer, he looked uncomfortable, but he knew that Kalyn, if anyone, deserved an explination from him.
"I am not sure how much you are aware of whatw ent on between me and Kaiser, but.."
He trailed off, looking awkward for a few tense moments. Finally taking a deep breath and trying to relax, he started up again, talking so softly, as it was almost a whisper. "Something happened, something big. I inherited his powers, Kalyn. though not as strong as a Valkerie, I manged to inherit Kaiser's valkerie powers. He gave me hus sword."
Rowan looked up into Kalyn's face, his look seemed almost haunted. "I had to elarn to control them, before I came back. otheriwse, who knows what I could have done?" He gave a helpless shrug.

Her expression of idle curiousity had sharpened as soon as Rowan mentioned the Valkerie Kaiser, but when he fell into awkward silence, she said nothing, instead waiting for him to sort out his thoughts, figuring that he would continue when he was good and ready.
Sure enough, after a moment he picked up the thread of his previous words, related briefly what it was that had kept him away all summer, though he spoke so quietly that Kalyn almost had to strain to hear him. When he was finished, she nodded slowly.
"I know how it is," she murmured softly at last, barely above a whisper herself. The absent tone of her voice and the shuttered expression that had entered her amethyst eyes suggested that she truly did relate, that the words weren't just something she had dredged up for lack of anything else to say. "I--"
She bit off the words abruptly, pressed her lips together for a moment as if trying to seal them in, and dragged herself back to the present with a visible shake. "You did the right thing," she said instead, briskly. Noticing the troubled look on Rowan's face, she wondered briefly just what kind of training that learning to control his powers had entailed.
"So, then--these new powers--" she paused, trying to set her thoughts back on track. Having done so, she re-worded her question. "What can this power do?" She supposed they would be similar, if not identical, to whatever abilities the Valkerie himself had, but then, she knew precious little about Valkeries anyway.

Rowan shrugged. Unable to think of a proper reply, and unwilling to press Kalyn on her own experiances, he opted to simply describe the things he could do.
"Well, Its basically a dummed down version of all of Kaiser's powers. I can do the mind thing. Its slightly more powerful than the wizard verrsion, I believe. Its certainly more powerful than the lycan. I can call Kaiser's green fire, whenever I need to. I can also shape the fire, into weapons or shields. I can summon Valkerie strength, use the green fire to travel, and, of course, kaiser gave me his demon sword.'
Again, he patted the Broadsword on his back. "Its a mite more impressive than Salad Fork." He grinned, gesturing to the silver rapier at his side. The one that he had transfigured froma salad fork stolen from the Great Hall, hence the name.

Hikalyn listened intently, her eyes never leaving his face as he described his newfound abilities. She neither move nor spoke while he was relating them, though, other than the slightest of occassional nods.
At his quip regarding Salad Fork, she broke her short silence with a laugh, though she couldn't help but raise her eyebrow at the weapon's rather unusual name. "Yeah, I would have to agree that it is," she concurred, a smile playing about her lips.
"So you've got it under control now?" she asked, though the question was largely rhetorical. That had been the reason he'd left in the first place; he wouldn't have come back if he didn't have them under his thumb, so to speak. She managed to check a sigh, though her expression sobered a bit. She wished that she could say as much for herself.
