A velvety tapestry of indigo blanketed the sky. The moon had dissolved hours before, but Evelyn sat amongst the dewy grass, gathering flower petals. Plucking them painstakingly from their stalks and stems, Eve placed each carefully in a glass chalice. The chalice, rimmed with silver, held several colorful layers of crushed plant material, displaying the salad of hues through it's transparent sides.
Gingerly raising the goblet with a delicate hand to eye level, Evelyn glared at it's contents, her ruby eyes dancing with anticipation. Flicking her eye lids closed, she whispered an incantation and the petals began to glow and jumble in the glass. A few fleshy pieces of color started jumping out, puppeting Evelyn to cup her free hand briskly over the mouth of the chalice. Her lips curled into a satisfied smile, as she gaze at the magic stirring in the glass.
It worked.
Musing to herself as she poured the enchanted concoction into her palm. Rising from her uncomfortable seat on the damp ground, her long honey-hued tresses spiraled down her back and shoulders, as she clenched the blazing petals tightly.
Biting her lower lip with excitement, Evelyn eased her fingers open and exposed the globe of revolving color. Her breathing stifled as she gazed at the orb, spinning and floating in her grasp. Dipping her index finger into the sphere and pulling it sharply from it, a thick stream of color followed like smoke from her finger tip. Within seconds, Evelyn had found a brilliant use for such a spell. Painting exotically in midair was more for than it sounded. The whole eastern border of the faerie realm was soon enveloped in glistening illustrations, depicting flora and fauna scenes.
After letting the magic version of finger painting sweep Eve into another land of whimsy, the golden sun rose over the brim of trees, and spilled into the faerie realm, shedding a soft luminescence of light upon her enchanted artworks. Suddenly halting her uninhibited actions, she glazed at the imagery, lefting the sun lower the colors opacity and blending the previous leafy background into view.
If I were to love...would I choice art over a man of flesh and blood?
Evelyn thought to herself as she stood, relaxed in front of the melting paintings.
