Aylen felt a wide grin stretch across his face as he walked down the familiar cobblestone streets. It was good to be back. Lately, he’d been so busy, he hadn’t had a chance to enjoy any fresh air. Had it been his choice, he would have flown a few laps around the Quidditch Pitch. Sadly, he was minus a broom after a certain incident involving a demon, a traitor, and a huge pain in the rear. He was definitely glad that was over. However, he was still missing a broom and he absolutely loathed the school’s old battered ones.
So, to Hogsmeade it was. Besides, he had forgotten to give a present to Rezna for her birthday. She hadn’t noticed yet, but he wasn’t taking any chances. That Hufflepuff’s wrath had the potential to be worse than Aidana’s. The redhead’s pace quickened somewhat as the thought entered his head.
Then he pulled off a perfect Hawkins Moment. His foot caught on a cobblestone protruding slightly more than the others and flailed wildly for balance. Just as he was about to regain his footing, some girl with a rather large stack of books bumped into him, sending the hapless redhead into a muddy ditch. He shook his head as he spat out mud. Typical. So very typical. He rarely had typical anymore. He began laughing uncontrollably. He had no idea how good it felt to finally have something normal happen to him.

ooc: certain person is here and calm now, is calm.....
Roan had decided to take the excursion to Hogsmeade to relax a bit, and take her mind off the pressure she was putting on herself. Everyday now was reading and practicing offensive spells. Getting ready for a duel that would probably never happen. But it was better safe than sorry. So she had folded up the black cloak she took to wearing around her school robes, and just donned the yellow trimmed clothing she wore everyday. Carefully pinning her hair up she had set out for hogsmeade.
Her first intention had been to stay away from the bookstore. But then after a little while she couldnt resist and found herself walking in and browsing for about an hour, and then walking out with a huge pile of books. Now Roan isnt exactly the brightest girl, so of course she walks with all the books in front of her so she cant see. And then the "unexpected" happens, of course she runs smack dab into someone.
What in the...was the first thought to come to mind as all the books went flying and then she herself stumbled a bit, landing on one knee on the cobblestone. Quickly beginning to gather up her books she then realized that the person she ran into had fallen into a ditch, and a muddy one at that. Swearing in her mind she promised she would never ever do that again.
"Oh my goodness, are you ok?!?" she said frantically, abadoning her books to see if the boy was alright. Then he started laughing and she was puzzled. She knocked him into a muddy ditch...and he was laughing...She found herself laughing slightly too. And she asked again "Are you alright?"

Aylen took in a deep breath in a futile attempt to stop his amusement, but only managed to inhale a good bit of sloshy, muddy goodness, causing him to choke and only increasing his mirth. “I-I’m okay—” he hacked, laughing at the same time. Banging himself hard in the chest, the offending object finally dislodged from his windpipe. The redhead coughed a few more times before being able to stand, holding back more laughter all the while. “I’ll be alright,” he said. His usual grin was plastered across his face, along with streaks of mud and his fiery red hair. “I’m going to have to pay you back for that, you know,” he teased.
A pile of scattered books caught the Gryffindor’s eye. He assumed the books belonged to the girl, Hufflepuff from the looks of her robes, and she had dropped them when his desperate quest for balance took a turn for the worse. “Sorry, that was my fault, wasn’t it?” he asked, indicating with a muddy hand. “I’d help you pick them up, but...” He shrugged, still grinning. “You don’t want mud all over them, right?” Aylen started to brush himself off and peel away some of muck caked on his clothes. He disposed of them in the ditch where they came from, tossing them back with audible splats as they landed into the mire.

The laughing and smiling was all very confusing to Roan. The first thing that came to mind was This boy is very odd. He proved her right when he proceeded to hit his chest and cough up something. All the same, Roan felt very embarassed and responsible for the mud all over this strange boy. As he stood up so did she to look him in the eye.
"Are you sure you are ok?" She said very calmly with an unusual smile on her face. It wasnt something that common to see with her these days, and it felt good inside. So she was forced to laugh a bit more.
"I’m going to have to pay you back for that, you know,”
When he said that Roan gave one of her own fake concerned looks. "Oh, I am so afraid." She knew it wasnt true, well, at least she hoped. So she once again smiled and took off a scarf around her neck, offering to the boy. "Im so sorry about this, it was my fault. Here, go ahead and use this to get some of the mud off."
The books were everywhere on the cobblestone path. Roan gave a frustrated sigh and thought of a way to get them all to her. She didnt exactly want to go running around trying to gather them all up. That would be hard. Then it hit her, she was a witch! And there was a perfect spell to gather these books. So she took her wand out of her robes and said "Accio" several times, letting the books fly back into her arms. Soon she had a large stack towering from her arms. Only then did she return her attention to the boy she had knocked over.
"Once, again I am so sorry. Is there anything I can do to make it up to you?"

Aylen had managed to get most of the mud off of himself. "Yes, I'm sure I'm okay," he said, and laughed again. The 'this kid is nuts' look was showing on every inch of her face and he couldn't help but laugh again. That definitely wasn't helping his first impression, but as long as he wasn't coming off as a stuck-up person with no sense of humor, he supposed he would be okay. "And that's okay," he said, pushing the scarf away. "I'll live. Bit of mud never hurt anyone. Besides, I tripped on my own big feet."
The mischeivious Gryffindor wondered briefly what the mud would look like flying through the air, but decided to save it for later. He didn't have the time. Besides, he had no idea what to give to Rezna. The blonde's temper must truly be frightening for Aylen to show this much self-restraint. "Is there anything I can do to make it up to you?" the girl asked. The redhead grinned. "Well, there is one thing," he began. "I have a friend who had a birthday a few days ago, you see, and I don't know what to get for her. Can you help me out?"

Sighing, Roan accepted the scarf back and slung it around her neck, which was quite a feat with the books in her arms. He was not very bright, and stubborn, wonderful combination that was. Bred some of the most remembered heroes...and some of the biggest fools. Mostly fools though.
"Besides, I tripped on my own big feet."
With a glance around the books, Roan peered down at his feet and let a smile spread across her face. "Yeah, they are rather large feet. Get hit by a wayward spell?" she joked, smirking at the same time. She wasnt trying to be cruel, just her sense of humor was a little...dim, and she wasnt that good at jokes. When he told her about this girl of his he was shopping for, her face brightened up. Something to help pay him back.
"Well, what kind of girl is she? Study girl, quidditch girl, someone who is active. What does she like. Just telling me she is a girl doesnt help me sir. clumsy."

A comical look crossed Aylen's face "Sir Clumsy?" he asked indignantly. Of course, he was rather deserving of the title, at least when his feet were on the ground, but with Aylen being Aylen, he was insulted just the same. "Well, maybe I don't want your help after all," he said snootily, preparing to stalk off. With his nose in the air, his eyes couldn't see much of the ground, much less where he was going, and he nearly tripped again. He stole a glance back at the girl. He was sure she was smirking at him. Muttering incoherently, he made his way to the bookstore Roan had come out of not long ago. Perhaps Rezna would like a book...

Roan laughed at the look on Aylen’s face, it was worth the embarrassment of the lame joke. So worth it. But then he walked away and she felt a little offended. “Well, if you didn’t need my help, you wouldn’t have asked in the first place. That’s ok, when you incure the wrath of a girl because you offended her with the wrong gift, Ill just be there to laugh.” Roan called back to him, a smirk on her face. He made his way over to the bookstore and the young Hufflepuff was a little sad he walked away. A walking clutz was funny to watch.
Somethin in her was telling her to not let him go. He was funny, for the few minutes she knew him. And he probably needed help. She wasnt kidding when she said the wrath of a girl could be horrible. So with a sigh she turned around and followed after him, pile of books in hand. "Hey, wait up!"

Upon hearing the girl’s voice, Aylen let out an exaggerated sigh and turned around, tapping his foot in mock impatience. “You should be nicer to people if you don’t want them to walk away,” he smirked once the girl made her way to the front steps of the bookstore. The redhead eyed the large mound of books sitting in the Hufflepuff’s arms and quirked an eyebrow. “Since you seem so familiar with this shop, why don’t you show me around?”
He opened the store’s door, an old-fashioned bell tinkling to let the owner know potential customers had entered. “After you, my lady,” he said, bowing with a fancy flourish. His wide grin indicated this was only done in jest. “Come now, we don’t have all day. You’ll miss your meeting with the ambassador of some nonexistent island country.”

When Aylen tapped his foot, a scowl crossed Roan's face. "Dont be so impatient...sir..., Im going as fast as I can." She said with a laugh, realizing she didnt know his name. Well, funny titles would have to do until they got around to actually mentioning their names. Walking over as fast as she could with the books in her arms, she came to stand in front of Aylen. "Of course I know my way around this place. Afraid you will get lost? Its not exactly the place to be for people of...weaker intellect." She waited for a moment to let her words sink in, before letting her face spread into a smile. "Im just kidding, Id be happy to show you around.
Then Aylen opened the door, and Roan had to surpress a small wave of frustration. Chivarly is dead. That went through her head immidiatley. But then she realized he was doing it in mocking of her, and she wouldnt have been able to open the door otherwise, with the books in her arms. After that, she just started laughing really hard, tears coming out of her eyes. "Thank you milord, that door would have been far too heavy for someone like me to open" she said between laughs. Then she strode into the bookstore, waiting for Aylen to follow.

He walked behind her, letting the door close with another ring of the bell. Instead of taking offense at the jab like he did before, Aylen quirked an eyebrow and responded in kind. "Yes," he replied. "And I do wonder why such a high-born lady would spend time with a lowly peasant such as I." Grinning, he slipped past her and began pretending to browse the bookshelves. He stole glances at her from over the upside down History of Arithmancy book he was holding to see her reaction.
When Aylen actually tried to read a sentence from the book, it was so complicated he gave up, snapped the book shut and moved on to the magazine rack. Perhaps Rezna would like the latest issue of Quidditch Monthly? Probably not. He picked up a glossy copy anyway, and flipped open to the section that replayed the entire game of Skylarks vs. Cannons in its headline photo. Skylarks won, of course. The redhead soon became absorbed within another article, his green eyes moving quickly across the pages.

She couldn’t help but smile a bit at his comments. “Lowly peasant? No, trust me, you aren’t one of those. They are more educated than you are.” Roan turned to look into the bookstore she had emerged from only a few minutes ago. It was like heaven to her. Every book was an adventure waiting to be seen, and she could never choose just one. With a sigh, the Hufflepuff turned her head back to the boy to see how he fared in this wide world of literature.
She shook her head as her eyes caught Aylen pretending to browse. Oh yes, she knew he was pretending. It wasn’t that hard to see. He kept looking back at her and she just smiled and placed her pile of books down on the floor of the bookshop. The book he held in his hands made the Hufflepuff grimace. “If you are even thinking for a moment of giving that to a girl for a birthday present, dig your grave right now.” She said seriously, walking over to take the book from his hands. But he closed it and returned it to the shelf before she could do anything. She watched as he walked over to the magazine rack and picked one up, reading it. “I don’t think she would appreciate that either…Hello?”

“Hi,” the redhead said, returning the greeting cheekily. “You don’t know if she likes Quidditch or not, do you? What if she does like Quidditch? What if I do what you say and I get yelled at? It would be all your fault, princess.” He added the last word as a joke, and stuck out his tongue. However, he did set the magazine back in its spot on the rack. “Anyway, what do you suggest? I haven’t heard you say a helpful word yet.” He crossed his arms and leaned back on the wall, smirking at her. Boy, this girl was really fun to tease. She reacted irritably just as he expected her to, at least, she did so far.

OOC: My goodness, you have been a busy poster
BIC: Roan crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow at Aylen's comment. "Are you always this difficult?" She said with half a laugh. It was people like this that annoyed Roan to no end, and it seemed he knew exactly what buttons to push with her. With a deep breath, she continued. "Tell you what, tell me what she is into. I can help you then." her voice was calm and controlled for the moment, but there was a smile on her face. Then something else hit her as she looked at Aylen.
"....What is her name. Maybe I know her and can give you a hand....and for that matter, what is your name Sir Clumsy?" The Hufflepuff inquired, putting her hands on her hips. The faster he gave her the right answers, the faster she could help him to find something.

The redheaded boy only grinned in response to her question. Was he always this difficult? Well, he’d never actually thought of it as being difficult. He preferred “playfully mischievous”, but he supposed difficult described him just as well. It came with the territory of having a twin sister. “Well you know, if I knew what she liked, I would know what to get her. Then I really wouldn’t be here having this problem, now, would I?” And being the youngest of five children caused him to have a smart mouth. “Anyway, her name’s Rezna.” He looked upwards, thinking. “Come to think of it, she’s in your house. You’re bound to have met her at least once.” He turned back the girl suddenly, smirking. “As for my name, I think Sir Clumsy is starting to grow on me. Maybe I shan’t tell you my name.” His facial expression didn’t change, but his green eyes sparkled from suppressed laughter.
